Pomp and splendour today characterised President Michael Sata’s arrival in Livingstone ahead of the official opening of the 2013 joint co-hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly (UNWTO-GA) in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Town this evening.
And in a brief speech to scores of Livingstone residents that welcomed him at the refurbished Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport, President Sata reaffirmed his administration’s commitment in developing Southern Province.
Earlier, Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, outlined the social and economic benefits that Zambia will accrue from co-hosting 2013 UNWTO GA.
Meanwhile, Tourism and Arts Minister, Sylvia Masebo, told President Sata that the people of Southern Province are grateful to his administration for making Livingstone district, the tourism capital.
Mr Sata, who is accompanied by First Lady, Christine Kaseba- Sata, Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba, his Assistant for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah and other senior government officials, arrived at 10: 05 hours aboard the Presidential plane.
The President alighted from the Presidential plane and flashed the PF symbol to reciprocate to scores of people that welcomed him.

Vice President, Guy Scott, led Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, senior government officials and party officials in welcoming President Sata.
Mr Sata and the First Lady then took time to freely mingle with some people and watched some cultural performances by various cultural groups at the airport before leaving for Royal Livingstone Hotel.
‘’Let us show the foreign delegates what Zambia can offer and that the country is not backwards,’’ Ms Sata said in reference to colourful display from the majorettes and other cultural groups.
He also praised the First Lady for encouraging him stressing that to every successful husband, there’s a wife behind.
Scores of Livingstone residents lined up the road from the Airport to the Central Business District to catch a glimpse of the Head of State.
President Sata and his delegation are later this evening expected to join his Zimbabwean counterpart, Robert Mugabe, for the official opening of the 2013 20th Session of the UNWTO-GA in that country.
The prestigious UNWTO General Assembly has attracted over 147 countries and imminent delegates in tourism.
Earlier, Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, outlined the social and economic benefits that Zambia will accrue from co-hosting the 2013 UNWTO GA.

Mr Munkombwe took a swipe to some sections of the opposition political parties for not fully understand the economic benefits that Zambia will get from co-hosting the event.
He explained that the infrastructural development that government has rolled out in Livingstone district will last for generations to come and will continue to significantly contribute to the growth of the Zambian economy.
And speaking at the same event, Tourism and Arts Minister Sylvia Masebo commended President Sata for declaring Livingstone city, a Tourist Capital by moving the Provincial Capital to Choma.
Ms Masebo said the people of Livingstone are grateful to President Sata for restoring Livingstone’s status as a tourist capital.
President Sata was welcomed at the airport by Vice President, Guy Scott, Cabinet Ministers and their deputies, Permanent Secretaries, defence chiefs and other senior government and PF party officials among others.
Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Peter Kasanda, was also among Permanent Secretaries, District Commissioners and other senior government officials in receiving the Head of State.

Zambia and Zimbabwe are jointly co-hosting this year’s prestigious 20th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly from 24th-29th August, in the two resort towns of Livingstone and Victoria Falls.
Zambia will host the official closing ceremony on 29th August while Zimbabwe is this evening hosting the official opening ceremony.
The UNWTO is one of the specialised United Nations Agency responsible for the promotion of responsible tourism, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
Viva Sata, Masebo and PF.

Pardon is it not rude that Sylvia is in sunglasses??????
What is rude about sunglasses?
Dear Kalok,
on official Meeting there is something called PROTOCOL and it is always part of been civilized that when you are talking to someone you have eye contact and those sunglasses with hinder that eye contact and I guess you who love your Sata want him to be respected this is part of it, you will never see Mrs. Obama wearing sunglasses on an official Meeting of her husband is just an exmaple and this Sylvia is in duty and those sunglasses are a sign of rudeness or not taking the protocol of good manners seriously…
shalom
CAN YOU SEE HOW SATA RELATES WITH GBM????SHAME TO KABIMBA,MMBEMBE AND ALL THE RIFRAFFS LIKE SCOTT……GBM IS LOYAL SATA.
PF has now changes it’s party symbol to an AFRO COMB
@ Ndobo (Bashi Mwaba), are we the only ones who can’t find Mrs. Munkombwe in pics? I only see a batch of men. LT please don’t mislead UNWTO guests that same-sex marriages can be found in Zambia.
And please respect Hon. Munkombwe.
Imwe ba pompwe part of being civilised?.africans need to know that you don’t become civilised by copying others. In my culture we don’t look a man you respect in the eye so since you ve been brain washed to believe that Europian manners are what counts we africans can only be civilised by imitating white culture?
By Mathew Mwale
Zambia’s President, Michael Sata suggested he and his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe are Siamese twins. This was during the opening ceremony of UNWTO in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Town a few minutes ago.
In reply, Mugabe jokingly accorded Sata an honorary Presidency of Zimbabwe, after Zambian Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo mistakenly referred to Mugabe as the “President of Zambia”.
Meanwhile Masebo was visibly timid and seemed intimidated as she gave an uninspiring speech to the delegates. Masebo was clearly outshined by her Zimbabwean counter part Minister Mzembi who gave a very highly technical and polished and eloquent speech
In the last picture I see scaffolding all over, meaning that construction works haven’t been completed, thanks to the GRZ’s “good” planning!
Dear Sir/Madam Higher Taller,
it is not about copying wearing sunglasses when you are talking to someone is rude even in Zambia ala…just get it right…do you wear a Cap when you are talking to your father or mother? It might just sunglasses but you can replace it with anything you want…and you will see it is more against your african cultural values than european, don´t be so ignorant&blinded with your hatred of western culture, we are not forcing zambians to copy, it is their own free will… She is rude in those Sunglasses your Sylvia just get it and suck it up&live with it…you must be a dreadhead from UNZA atase…zambians don´t want to be honest…always hypocrites…uko waka-waka-bufi-boza
Wonder what he always carries in his jackets, they look awkward!

Ukutumpa mwabana ba mbwa, insulting your own father?
imwe bantu,,, he is not carrying anything, he is now eating well in state house, so he has put on weight unlike the time (in 2005) they(PF) were suffering at farmer`s house

The new refurbished airport – in the background you show an incomplete building. We have an amost 30 year-old tall incomplete in building in Lusaka – only pa Zed.
The circus is in town!
I guess the entire PF government Is in Livingstone this week and all hotel rooms will be occupied. Masebo was right the city will benefit from hosting the event.
Akalijo u demons!lt is clear that its just jearous and hate for the President and his followers. But l want u to know that you will reap from the same seed. I am only seeing educated Zambians dat re so primitive here. U wont last upto 2016 some of u.
“JeaRous”? Osmore, when and where did you go to school?
I mean I understand that in remote areas education can be sketchy, but surely you watch tv, have friends who speak and write properly, so why are you not copying them?
The lack of logic you consistently demonstrate is genetic though, so it can’t be helped. Not your fault really.
I was watching a news clip on Aljazeera on the UNWTO conference that is due to open and the clip featured preparations on the Zimbabwean side. It left me wondering as to how much marketing and PR the Zambian side has put into it. The clip showed interviews by Zimbabwean tour agents and some foreign tourists. This type of PR coup would surely make a tourist feel all this is only happening in Zimbabwe. Why is it that Zambia always gives an impression that we are second best to Zimbabwe? Perhaps we are.
@mfumu
victoria falls town in zim is very organised in all areas of tourism compared to our own ever sleeping giant livingstone,, just google victoria falls now and see how many tourist attractions pop up from the zim compared to zambian ones.. that PR coup was expected especially with sleepy PF cadres as PR officers,
@mfumu,
Your observation is valid and what you said is there for all to see and cannot be disputed. Sometime time back someone made similar comments on the preparations.
The problem is the ”it does not matter” culture and I will not be surprised if some blogger responds this way. Shoddy workmanship is the norm.
The president looks very healthy so whats the noise all about
ask GBM,, he has inside info
he has used foundation(make-up) i can see it clearly…
The problem is even levy died with a very big body ,looking healthy at tbe time he left
Akaso bangwele! Job well done ba Pf mu Livingstone. Lets do the same in all major towns.
Hold your breath, the Great leader is in Town!
“Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, PSs, Defence Chiefs, District Administrators, Chiefs…” etc etc. Oh! and with all their wives, concubines and drivers!
Quite a festive and spectacle, isn’t it? When you calculate, its equivalent to 10 by elections! Phew! Let it pass mwe…
Haha, the Kim Jong Un of the african continent is in town and i’m surprised he is not wearing a North Korean style suit.
Like the first photo, shows where Power lies and that Kabimba got lied to and fell for it. He’s now felt the heat. Next this RiffRaff (Kabimba) is getting FIRED and MuMembe gotten out of the PF blood system.
This is a tourism conference. What are all the ministers, perm. secs e.t.c doing there? The entire govt. is in Livingstone – meaning more money on allowances, hotel accommodation, transport. I find this charade unnecessary. You only need people n the tourism business there.
Wonder how many of these ministers and the perm secs have been to Livingstone at their own expense? They are all falling over each other so that they are seen to be in support of the “Dear great Leader.” Good question regarding the expenditure supporting all these dignitaries?
I am sure they have all taken their girlfriends along, funded by us heavily taxed voters. Awe mwandi bwafya.
Ati ‘the President looks healthy’. How extra-ordinary that we have ‘doctors’ able to carry out a diagnosis online. I suggest if we do not know the President’s health, we shouldn’t speculate. Although, in the same vein, if govt. is aware of any serious affliction he is suffering from, it should let the nation know.
Greasly Bear must watch out. Dont never trust cobra
Cosmore & Nubian Princess, also make me laugh lashed at the jealous minions undermining Sata.U guys is our fit President sick?Wht a fallacy! He is in gud health not re respondng to useless critics. Its hapening & God bless those tht humble themselves not braging abt eduction.Wel done PF do evn more in other areas. so tht oposition crumbles to nothng.
No Dada.
Get education.
What a style of leadership!Balileka ukulanda sana. That ‘s left with hh and Mumba. koseni bana and don’t fall sick on any day.Mwagunwa! The neglect of l/stone was done by mmd.Pf is building it.Shame on u!
you again take your drugs and go to bed……….useless chap/chick
@Osmore
You should have a little conversation with your mother, or whoever took care of you. Get them to confess regarding that incident when they dropped you on your head.
It will be a good starting point when you visit a psychiatrist, as he can better diagnose the impairment to your cognition.
In our local launguage Pompwe means a ‘crook’ or a ‘thief’.Does it mean anyone givng positve view abt govt is sick? Now its Osmore acused of being sick. Some pipo re bitter & grievd.Wishng pipo sickness. The order of Chainama pipo & their Lunatic organiser.Aftral its biternes tht makes pipo sick accordng to the Bible. These biter hooligans re sick al over & in their heads.
@Dada, you are incoherent, wonder which night school you attended?
Dada,
I. Just. Can’t. With. You.
Only in africa do we have more passion about a person(Sata) than we have for ideas or issues. If you remove the personality of Sata you’ll see he’s just an empty shell devoid of ideas, issues or vision.
And i say amen to your message.
I am happy my prodigal son in Canada (Nostradamus Jrn) went for church duties, as a Jehova’s witness.
@ Nostradamus,
I am not addicted to blogging like you. I choose the stories to make a comment on. I am for real politics. I am still looking for people I can debate with. It is the reason I came back and claimed my name from you. You were not, and you still don’t make sense. Be careful, you might fade out fast.
,
ati prodigal son in canada…hahahahah. am happy for you my brother, you found your son.. as a concerned uncle of your prodigal son am offering to finance your re-union.. what do you say??
GBM ifyaso, busy sharpening his knife thinking the throne of presidency will be on him. The man is rating himself highly…….
I see scaffolding at the building behind. That means that work has not been completed. This is shameful or poor planning that you cant finish projects in time for a major event. Doesn’t leave a good impression.
@Mfumu I dont like stu.pi.di.ty drivng me in the mad!Amafi uko not with me.U re used insultng each othr its not my nature.I didnt inflict failure fr yr chap to be defeated in an ‘erection’ like u thnk.Take anger, biternes, & vengeance far frm me!016 wil ve othr ‘erections’ let hm work hard not ths biternes lam seeing it wont help again.Do u underststand?Comng to eduction Iam not a type of yr Master of Arts u bragng.Jst my MBA & PhD frm the rest cant be equated to yr pursuant PhD in Public Administration!Atase get out frm me.U want cheapen me?Useles
Please can someone translate this? I really want to know what Dada is saying. Unfortunately because we have over 70 dialects in our country, I think he uses number 53 or something.
Name the institution that awarded you an MBA or PHD.
Let’s just talk grade 2 at Mbwengele Munda Primary. Now there you may have alumni. they didn’t demand much at enrollment in those days. All they checked was whether you could put your right arm across the top of your head and touch your left ear. Of course those that were born deformed with abnormally long arms excelled.
Sound familiar Dada?
Haha, what are you writing man..lol? Leave those degree bragging to Mushota. You really sound cheap!
THE OLD MAN IS LOOKING GOOD!! NOT THAT INFO WE GET FROM THE WATCHDOG..
This man looks sick
Masebo’s speech was so hollow. Her Zim counterpart had figures and facts and spoke so eloquently. All she did was to continuously thank her employer Sata. The whole thing was so embarrassing no wonder most of the important events are in Zim. What a shame for Zambia! She even called Mugabe Zambian President! Nkandu Luo would have been a better Tourism minister!
Everyone in that last picture seems to be giving Sylvia Masebo the side-eye.
On another note, when I look at Mr. Sata, I see confusion and uncertainty. Makes me almost feel sorry for him.
Inferior black mamba! To hell with yr intiferiority complex! Its evn tough fr 2016 erections.I dont brag abt my eduction only concernd how i.di.ots like u boast of eduction as if u re the only ones gone to sch!Wht kind of thnkng is ths?Incorigible minions. No wonder yr boss ntanyonwi!Regional politcs is old fashion atase. And thts the mad.ness u want to drag me into.R.u.bi.sh uli ci puba.
@Dada
Idi Amin, I never ever boast. I don’t need to. The evidence speaks for itself. As for being icipuba, again, turn to the evidence.
I’m done here. Nothing left of you.
Hon.Silvia was very nervous indeed, the speeches from our side lacked content, uninspiring were out-shined by the Zimbabwean counterparts. Please find other technocrats to draft your speeches at the closing ceremony and please Masebo maintain your original accent twapapata.
Comrade Masebo really needed to do her homework. What puzzles me is that she has a tourism board in place as well as a whole ministry behind her. why didn’t she request a comprehensive report instead of searching for words like she did. And the accent ma! what was that all about.?
It goes without saying! Zimbabweans are more educated than Zambians. Zambia had a chance to catchup when Zimbabwean was in political doldrums but now the little southern African country is back.
… when Zimbabwe was in political wilderness^
