Vice President, Guy Scott, has described the fuel shortage that has hit Lusaka as a mere setback.

Dr Scott attributed shortage to ‘panic’ among the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

He doubted if Lusaka was experiencing fuel shortages and wondered why neighbouring Zimbabwe was not experiencing any shortage.

He said drivers allegedly have no direction where to take the fuel because the OMCs have concentrated so much in Southern Province where UNWTO is being co-hosted hence leaving out other parts of the country.

The Vice President was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Livingstone today.

‘I do not think that there is fuel shortage in Lusaka. There are a few problems by some drivers who have no direction where to deliver the commodity,’’ he said.

Reports indicate that the shortage of fuel in Lusaka has persisted despite government still maintaining its stance that the country has enough fuel stocks as some filling stations found motorists queuing up to acquire the commodity.

For several weeks the fuel shortage has hit Lusaka with several filling stations going without the commodity and some Lusaka motorists expressed concern over shortage and wondered what could be behind the scarcity of fuel around the city.

Last week, government accused Total and Puma Oil companies of being behind the shortage of fuel being experienced in some parts of Lusaka.

Energy Minister, Christopher Yaluma, recently announced in Lusaka that the fuel shortage being experienced was as a result of the two oil companies not collecting the commodity from Ndola where the country’s oil refinery is based.

Meanwhile, Dr. Scott has implored PF members on the Copperbelt and Eastern Province to work hard regardless of the suspension slapped on the provincial executive committees.

Dr Scott, who is also PF Vice President, said it was too early to lift the suspension of the affected provincial executive committees and quickly pointed out that the party was studying the case before the suspension could be lifted.

‘’It is too early to lift the suspension but, people in these areas should work hard to strengthen the ruling party on the ground,’’ Dr Scott said.

  1. So drivers went to Livingstone instead of lusaka? Even Nursery school kids would hid their faces in shame listening to that daft reason.

    • Always the fault of others and never big enough to take responsibility for any of the negatives but quick to take credit for all positives. Zambia wins CAF, its PF that was behind the win.

    • Guy Scott thinks we are all a bunch of impoverished and ignorant people who can be taken for a ride at any time. He is a white man who thinks we don’t deserve a better life. We can be hoodwinked into believing his nonsense just because he is white. A shortage is a SHORTAGE there are no “SETBACKS.” It is not a setback for people to go without fuel it is a total enconvinience of the worst kind. Fix it, you conceited chap.

    • Why is the vice president using that phone which he can hardly handle, is that a Bosch phone?

DO Zambians even know there is Samsung S4?

When is this arriving in Zambia? I have it believe it or not!

I heard there is Iphone 3 now in zambia?
      Thanks

    • Mushota,,what is the purpose of bragging, what is this cheap braggadocio all about? So you mean some of us who don’t boast are poor?Just take your wealth there ,we are not interested.

    • Ingrate Mushota, U think plane engines run on water? Btw, there’s not even a plane that flies from the room u rent to that “Home for the aged” at which u work

  2. Understood, the cause of shortage is a suden anticipated shift in demand in Southern Provnce at the moment. This has drasticaly afected other areas where perceivd demand by consumers is low hence supliers concetratng suplies to ot those areas with expected increase in demand. To a large extent its a setback engineered by supliers or OMCs.Thus Lusaka & other areas wil fr a while experince this shortage not tht there is no stocks bt tht suplies re being conetrated to those areas with perceivd increase in demand.

    • Hey dada PF LAPTOP CADRE you don’t make sense. If motorists are queuing up for the commodity in Lusaka then the demand is high there.how many vehicles have been imported in Livingstone becoz of the UNWTO to shift the demand of gas from Lusaka to SP. or have all GRZ ministries shifted to Livingstone becoz of the summit, hence the shift in demand?

    • @dada
your comment is St,upid!! UNWTO is an indoor conference witch is shared between vic.falls town and livingstone,,,,,, its not like everyone in livingstone will driving around like man because of UNWTO,,,hence creating a massive demand which will create shortages in other parts of the country!!!

“ He said drivers allegedly have no direction where to take the fuel because the OMCs have concentrated so much in Southern Province where UNWTO is being co-hosted hence leaving out other parts of the country“. and this another stu.pid statement from a muzungu meant for bushmen!!!

    • @Mann, I challenge you to point me to any comment of Dada’s that has ever made sense on any topic. You’d have more luck seeing a pig fly.

  3. wow… nice pic even if this muzungu has missed the point! shamenda looks like a peasant farmer/charcoal burner… and those lips? that must be bellyman munkombwe`s ever hungry lips!

  4. I hope PF has not made a UNTWO fuel donation to Zim the same way they are supplying them with electricity leaving us with increased load shading

  5. Fuel business is a volume business. The more the OMCs sell the better is the chance of making a profit. The explanations by Yaluma and Scott do not add up. There isn’t just enough fuel being imported into the country because individuals, who have no experience in petroleum has contracts to import fuel on behalf of Government. A responsible Government does not always look for people to blame. Give the OMCs temporary import permits and you will see them flood the market with the commodity.

  6. Does Guy Scott think in Bemba before he says anything? Its increasing becoming clear that this white guy is so dull. Which university gave him a PhD?

    • Wow wow…. here you are again i was right about you hihihihi, you sure are so tribalistic, you said the same to me in the your other comment. Wow.. GangHo must get my point now, so Guy scott and I, both think in BEMBA… Gotcha!

    • Cindy, am sure you will be surprised that am Bemba. I happen to know that most Bemba’s think in Bemba and then try to speak in English

In the case of Dr Scott, hanging out with bakaponya has diluted his thinking to the same level. A PhD hold can not have such failed logic

    • Ba Engineer with all due respect sir, i dont discuss tribe, i have relatives and friends from all sorts of races, i myself am not even pure Bemba, so lets debate deplomatically sir, i respect your opnion, even when i asked for your proposition, it was all in the name of debating, i had no intentions of bringing you down or disrespecting you, for i dont even know you, why should i sink so low? am much more disappointed in you even grading me in that category, can we now please move on? am sure you meant well, dont let this mess up your day or future indulgence in blogging takecare,
      Cindy

    • By the way, i think more in Dutch believe you me, my English is very bad, Bemba hahahahaha, i cant even speak two astraight sentences, i can write though not so good, cheer up dear, otherwise, no hard feelings.

  7. Dotty Scotty is getting old at an exponentially fast rate. Even Bob across the border, who Dotty said liked his sleep, has his act together. Surely, drivers of oil tankers dont just drive around, they carry papers which show where the fuel will be delivered. How low he thinks of other people! As has been mentioned above, OMC’s make money using sales volumes. So how can Yasuma say that there is a shortage because these companies are not collecting the oil from Ndola? Zambians, why do we allow these people to make fools of us like this?

  8. Hahahahahahha nice one Scott……. it’s time you guys went Bio or Solar powered auto mobiles…… i dont think you will be experiencing any embarrassing moments at crucial times with foreigners around. Diversify, it serves alot not only in terms of monetary funds but also with stock availabilty, besides no chance of monopoly.

  9. ‘ Some drivers have no direction where to deliver the commodity’ – Quote of the week by our Muzungu Veep.

  10. i always tell my students, politics just like life is like playing chess. you see things very dirrfrent if you are not the one playing. but you know that the person playing is not playing to lose the game. so same thing here, why assume the guys are playing to loose. because it satifies your ego.

  11. Ninshi abaku ONWTO banabwela namagalimoto. This is rubbish of the highest degree. This ci party has failed #Party Failed.

  12. What does it take surely to flood the country with this commodity?
    Liberalise this market segment!
    Dissolve ERB!
It is not serving its purpose!
More education but No common sense!
