Zambia leave for China

Share

Patrice Beaumelle has spoken for the first time ahead of his first match in charge.

Beaumelle’s has a dream start to his tenure as Zambia coach on Tuesday when he faces 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil in a friendly in Beijing.

“It is an important match for the players and it will show that we’re skillful, a good team and deserve to be these big matches,” Beaumelle said.

Meanwhile, Nkana defender Christopher Munthali was not part of the home-based players who left from KK International Airport in Lusaka this evening for Beijing via Dubai.

Officials were tight lipped over his omission.

Also absent from the travelling party was TP Mazembe defender Hichani Himonde who was not on the list of players the DR Congo club was holding back.

However, the six players who left from Lusaka include Romanian based striker Fwayo Tembo who has dumped Astra Giurgiu and returned to Zambia following his fallout with the club.

Midfielders Bruce Musakanya from Red Arrows and Kondwani Mtonga of Zesco United including goalkeeper Joshua Titima are in the travelling party.

Others are Kabaso Chongo and Bronson Chama from Konkola Mine Police and Arrows respectively.

  1. Bruce Musakanya will surely impress. Go boys! Stay focused and remember these housekeeping rules; Any team is beatable on the face of the earth.
Believe in yourselves and results shall come.
Always remember that the entire country is behind you so go and enjoy yourselves whilst the world watches on.
For the first time the entire world will watch you and know about Zambia.

    • Really is that a question you can ask! Are you a soccer fan or do you know anything to do with soccer? Soccer team is made up of 11 players and these are only 6. This in itself shoul remind you that there must be others somewhere………………

    • I believe its a good question looking at what happened last time we played Ghana in Europe. You end up looking for Zambian students abroad simply because you’ve been disorganised.Nevertheless Go Zambia Go Chipolopolo.

  2. Some people don’t seem understand a thing about football. This friendly game against not just any other team but BRAZIL is one of the most important games Zambia has played at the international stage. I pray that it serves to signal the beginning of good things for Zambian football!

To our lads, please rise above any fear or intimidation and derive every inspiration from standing and singing of Zambia proud and free!

  3. i’m happy to be part of the fortunate group the will watch this game live at the birds nest, i hope for a good game, confidence is everything, we need to play like warriers, especially that brazil will go on that field already thinking they have won

  4. LT, your heading could have read the ‘Zambia national soccer team or chipolopolo boys leave for china.’ Whether your heading is correct, I don’t know.

  5. I you were not there be reminded that in 1988, at the Seoul Olympics Zambia beat the much fancied Italy 4 – 1 and because of that Kalu was voted African Footballer for the same year.
Time for mathematics: IF ITALY HAS BEATEN BRAZIL AT ONE TIME IN ANY COMPETITION THEN IT SUFFICES THAT ZAMBIA CAN BEAT BRAZIL SINCE WE HAD BEATEN ITALY. Watch this space.

  6. All the best boys. Just the title of the article ‘Zambia leaves for China’ made me wonder when we were going to land and what mode of transport would move the whole Country of Z to China.

  7. For those who were not there:
In the first game at the Soul Olympics in 1988, Zambia drew with Iraq-2-2, in the second game we beat Guatamala 4-0 and in the third game we beat mighty Italy (World Champions at that time) 4-0. On that basis we qualified to the quarter finals only to meet Germany who wired us 4-0. At that time ZNBC could not broadcast the matches. we were only watching clips courtesy of other TV stations. ZNBC was only able to broadcast the Zambia vs Germany game

  8. i might retire from international duty and concentrate on the club because my new coach can punish me with bench warming duties. look we cannot even make a team.
