The Patriotic Front (PF) leadership has been urged to act on the ongoing confusion of the Lusaka District chairmanship and send a consistent message to the public. In a statement released to the media, Open Society Foundation Executive Sunday Chanda warned that failure to act by the PF leadership is likely to polarize the party even further.

Below is the full statement

PRESS STATEMENT

13/10/2013

PF LEADERSHIP MUST ACT RIGHT AND WITHIN THE SEASON

OSF is calling on the leadership in the Patriotic Front (PF) to ensure that the deepening and widening divides in the party get resolved as a matter of urgent priority. The mixed messages being sent into the public space has not been consistent and this is sending different signals into the public space.

President Michael Sata is on record as having recognized former Lusaka Mayor Robert Chikwelete as District Chairman both in Chawama during the Pave 2000 launch and at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

It is therefore a worrying factor that Republican and PF Vice President Dr. Guy Scott remain unaware of this fact. On as far as the PF and general public are concerned, Chikwelete is the District Chairman unless the Vice President can provide strong evidence to the contrary.

So the PF Central Committee must come out categorical on this matter as opposed to engineered suspensions as reported in the media.

The PF must also be seen to respect processes because some statements emanating from part of the top leadership remains highly prejudicial of the work PF’s Central Committee and Disciplinary Committee need to undertake in respect of the petitions presented in connection with the Party’s Secretary General, Hon. Wynter Kabimba.

On this score, we to advise the PF leadership that it will be suicidal to antagonize the structures in the manner certain quarters of its leadership are doing currently. PF must weigh the cost of suffocating the momentum within the structures in order to assure political survival of beleaguered leaders.

The PF must be candid enough to thoroughly investigate the revelations regarding the formation of another political party, the Fourth Republican Party (FRP) and mere denial of its existence or indeed the involvement of some of its members does not bring healing to the organization.

The PF must establish of at all parallel structures did exist and if they did, as confirmed by President Sata, then culprits must not just be warned but disciplinary action need to be taken as this is inimical to the ideals of the PF’s regulations.

Failure by the PF leadership to deal decisively with issues related to FRP, parallel structures and indeed the issues contained in the petitions presented by the 10 (ten) Provinces is likely to polarize the party even further.

The implication is for the leadership of the PF to act by building on precedent already set in cases involving Hon. Given Lubinda, former Lusaka Province Chairman Davies Chama and others. In order to sustain PF’s fortunes, the leadership must take strong decisions and there must not be sacred cows in this endeavour.

  1. Too greedy for power and too selfish to listen. In fact they’d rather see their boat sink than arrive safely onshore under the captaincy of a rival.

    • he reasons why Sata can not fire kabimba have been unearthed by the ZWD. Like I said several times on this forum,Sata and Kabimba have been partners in crime for so long. Evidence is slowly emerging to verify that Sata and Kabimba are partners in IIUNDA CHALO investments and Midlands energy.

IIUNDA CHALO Investments is responsible for providing consultancy services to RDA. It is also responsible for approving road contractors to be awarded contracts. This explains why RDA is situated at State house.RDA is linked to Sata and Kabimba’s business.

Midlands Energy procures petroleum products on behalf of Zambian Government. If you remember very well, not so long ago, there was a story of Midlands Energy company involved in a corruption scandal in which it was alleged that Kabimba’s…

    • If you remember very well, not so long ago, there was a story of Midlands Energy company involved in a corruption scandal in which it was alleged that Kabimba’s company had overcharged the Zambian government by over $250 million for the petroleum products it procured for the government. When ACC uncovered the scandal they summoned Kabimba for questioning but as usual Sata chipped in to warn the ACC not interrogate his cabinet members without his permision. Sata’s actions on this matter proved that he is heavily involved in the dealings of this company.

Sata and kabimba were also jointly involved in purchasing of the majority of the government and council houses using government money. Remember the K2 billion scandal Sata was involved in during the transition from UNIP to MMD…

    • Sata and kabimba were also jointly involved in purchasing of the majority of the government and council houses using government money. Remember the K2 billion scandal Sata was involved in during the transition from UNIP to MMD.

This an extract from October 11, 2013 ZWD.

“They are both shareholders in a company that is reaping a lot of money from roads contract. President Sata and Wynter Kabimba own a company called Ilunda Chalo Investments Limited together with an Indian Citizen named Imran Janmohamed.

The secretary of the company is a Dean Mwansa Mumba. The company was registered on August 24, 2012 when Sata was already president.”

Sata and Kabimba are so intertwined such that to fire Kabimba would be a recipe for disaster for PF and Sata.

Any way the best thing is come…

    • It is now clear the Sata is not allergic to corruption at all. If he was, then he would not have formed companies to corruptly syphon tax payers income in broad day light.

The man Sata worships corruption and can not live without it.He is actually the king of corruption. Corruption starts at state house and trickles down to most of all the PF members. This explains why the youth are so angry because they can clearly see how corrupt their leaders are but are not benefiting anything at all. Thats why last time they invaded a private farm and decided to share the land.

    • This is so annoying. I’m annoyed at these thieving bastards, annoyed at the *****s who elected him and lastly annoyed at myself for being so impotent.

Maybe it’s better to stop reading Zambian news and just focus on enjoying the fruits of being in America. After all my home is now here.

  2. Sunday, just shut up and get a real job or I dare you to try standng for elected office instead of thinking you know everything about politics in Zambia!

  3. “So the PF Central Committee must come out categorical on this matter as opposed to engineered suspensions as reported in the media”. No actually its the President who must come out categorcal. Is he scared of Chikwelete like he’s scared of Kabimba and Fred Mmembe?

  4. what is the core mandate of this same Open society Foundation NGO? i only hear about this guy speak when its anything to do with PF, what is his real interest?

  5. The crux of the matter is Sata must act now. His continued ball juggling skills are very misplaced.
PF cadres are looking for a goal scoring captain….
Zambians are waiting for the promsed trophy
WHERE ARE THE MEN OF SUBSTANCE!

    • The trophy has already been claimed for himself and his friends. Forget it. The country’s coffers will be empty by the time he’s finished plundering. They currently own Zambia, you just don’t know it yet

  6. When Dr Mumba spelt it out for us that ukwa is the king of confusion, they pf police wanted to arrest him. He hit the nail on the head. Kk told us also that ukwa can not be trusted with anything and also CC the 3rd warned be foolish zambians dared them and went to vote for this chi illiterate. There will be more confusions and confusions as long as this kaponya remains president.

  7. Us, we are saying amen to this confusion. Its God in control. He has created this confusion in PF which will lead to their losing power to bring in a sober govt. Meanwhile we need bigger prisons in the country to accomodate all these rascals come 2016.

  8. Only those who do not hold sata & pf secrets can be disciplined ,the other group which knows more than the public knows can’t /will never be disciplined.this reflects on why the high court and supreme court have different judgment when it comes to elections nullification.the high court do it on principle & facts but the supreme court do it to satisfy their beer belly and ukwa.

  9. Ati the mixed message being sent to the “public space”… Give us a big break PF cadre! Address your message to the ever dwindling PF fellowship, not the so called “public space”. You lost the latter a long time ago mate. You don’t look particularly intelligent to me, do you?

  10. Spot on and PF must take heed otherwise it will have itself to blame. If people who have stood with it all along can speak like this, then it is a wake up call that all is not well. The time is ticking and that is what I love about politics!

  11. Where is President Sata and why is he playing POLITICS instead of providing LEADERSHIP?

    I like Chanda’s views here!

  12. Who is this Sunday guy he seems to write very well, and I personally don’t see anything wrong with his advise,it’s timely we’ll meaning and factual. Mr president, chikwelete,Scott kabimba,GmB ,inonge,Lubinda sort out this mess in your party urgently…and learn to punish indiscipline while its in the bud.

  13. Chanda you are just a hired gun. Worry about the tribal allegations which are very serious and genuine. The petition brought up by hired thugs is neither here nor there. Funny enough other regions are not bothered by pf wrangles. Its only bembas like u who seem worried. Give us some space.

  14. When will they start hiring assassins these foo1s so they can finnish each each quickly before 2016. Foo1s are in a majority in zambia.

  15. PF is show itself to be a bunch of headless chickens… i see a soon death to this bunch. YO ADVICE OFS IS TIMELY BUT I DOUBT IF THEY WILL EVEN READ IT FORGET ABOUT STUDYING IT.

  16. Some of us who support PF agree with the advice Chanda is giving to PF. He is being very factual. President Sata introduced Chikwelete to Edgar Lungu in Chawama that ” aba eba chikwelete, ba district chairman”. When Sata arrived from the US via UK, he asked for chikwelete as district chairman. Now what is hurting is that his Vice President seems to be sowing confusion in the party. Let both President Sata and Guy Scott express their views in the Central Committee than confusing people. PF has now become a laughing stock because we have lost direction. Some of us had high hopes but we are disappointed to say the least.

    • Agreed i had high hopes but as things stand i am very disapointed with the way PF are running the affaires of the Party soon and very soon things will turn bad and PF will not have numbers anymore.

    • All this is trivial. They (your elected buffoons) are sharing the land and r.aping the treasury. While you argue about Chikwelete…

  17. One problem with pf is the age of its leadership. Most are now too old and feeble to take decisive action. The other is its thuggery origin. The ongoing drama is normal to some of them despite the damage it is causing.

  18. My Worry is,If Ukwa can not solve issues in the party, what about issue at large.Nobody seems to respect his word, what is the whole country is in a confusion.I am very worried. This cause for the whole country to question.

    • Sata is not interested in the presidency. He is just riding the clock out after having made crooked deals. He will walk away smiling.

  19. Amazing how the opposition is so quiet instead of seizing the opportunity to sell themselves aggressively. It would be tragic if the PF bounces back in power in 2016! It will have confirmed what Sata says about the non-existent opposition. The PF is doing it’s best to trounce and smash itself out of relevance. All the opposition has to do is to assist PF accelerate it’s demise, instead of just watching while PF slowly self-destructs.

    • PF has no demons. What they have is your money in their pockets.

  20. Who is telling the truth between President Sata and his Vice President on Robert Chikwelete? Who elected Chuumbwe as Lusaka Province Chair? I thought the Chairman was suspended together with Given Lubinda, a guy called Davies Chama. He has since been cleared, so is he not the substantive chairperson?

  21. It has been surprising that the president has up to now not come out with a clear message of authority over the mess in his party. Now slowly but surely hidden things are being dug up and revealed to the public and a bombshell is about to be dropped.
The Watchdog is now being vindicated for all its revelations.
    We are watching and waiting!

  22. HE WHO DESPISES ADVICE IS NOT WISE. WHAT THIS GUY IS TALKING ABOUT IS TRUE BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY THE PRESIDENT AND HIS VICE CAN BE SPEAKING TWO DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. PLEASE CLEAR THE AIR AND GIVE CONFIDENCE TO THE NATION.

    • They are not interested in giving confidence to anyone! They are busy – ensuring that their descendants are rich forever more – at Zambia’s expense.

  23. Excellent, well written and straight to the point, i think for everyone out there to have full confidence that the PF is a functioning party, order in the house has to be seen. conflicting statements from so many *****s should be a thing of the past, kwaliba bawiso balanda, naiwe walandulula

  24. The biggest concern right now is that these apes are sharing the land amongst themselves and r.aping the treasury while we stand aside and look.

Reading ZWD today, I’ve realized what their real agenda is. Definitely not the betterment of you and me.

    Jail is too good.

  25. The happenings in the PF, a party I voted for, does not inspire at all. President Sata must show leadership. What is happening kanshi?

  26. @ Number 36, that is not our business. Is it not a fact that nobody knows who is who between chikwelete and goodson banda? Is it not a fact that Guy Scott and his boss have contradicted themselves in this matter? We dont have time for your conspiracy theories.

  27. “No sacred cow” I miss levy who never spared anyone even the so seemingly heavy weights like then Veep Nevers Mumba and VJ.

  28. Reliable insider tells me that Sata is going to relieve GBM from the ministry and Kabimba from the party. GBM will be made vice secretary general of the party while Lubinda will take over as secretary general. Kabimba will be promoted to the position of Vice Presidency.
The loser will be GBM as he will be forced to clear the mess he has created. Demon he created will engulf him and he will be gone. Kabimba will ascend to presidency come 2016.

  29. Please don’t waste our time. Just tell your impotent pf president to do the right thing instead of involving everyone. Why do PF people fear to tell that rotten toothed viper?

  30. I can’t wait for this guy to turn his criticism on PF Government. Like him or hate him, he knows how to hammer. I want him to get to the other side, the Opposition.

  31. This is gross indiscipline. The vp can contradict the president so openly? Kabimba forms another party and goes unchallenged? And everyone does what they think is right & go scort free? Sounds like a kingdom of the absurd doesn’t it?

  32. who has created all this confusion? sata offcourse. how does he appoint chikwelete verbally at a function sure? may be nevers was correct to state that sata cant do minus confusion

  33. Sunday Chanda is another dull chap who cannot tell a spade from a spoon, how do you support chikwelete’e stance, whether he was appointed or elected the chap has displayed gross indiscpline by stating that the Vice president lied to Parliament. If you know your civics, it is a serious matter to inform parliament fictions, simple question the position chikwelete is clamoring for is an elected position, there were no election so no one voted for him! Even the principal had said what he said. there is an incumbent. Sometimes you should just shut up because you are so nauseating together.
The President and his Vice are on terra firma. someone says you work hard as a District chairman, you grow wings and start insulting everyone who disagrees with u!
