Police officers Thursday morning searched the premises of the Foundation for Democratic Process in Lusaka’s plush Rhodespark area.

The officers arrived at FODEP officers around 10:30 Hours and conducted the search for close to an hour.

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi was not present at the search as he was still being held at Lusaka Central Police for questioning.

Mr Chipenzi had spent Wednesday night in police custody as police officers continued investigating him for issuing alarming statement.

This is in connection with the Daily Nation Newspaper article quoting Mr Chipenzi condemning the police for allegedly undertaking a secret police recruitment exercise.

Daily Nation Managing Editor Richard Sakala was due to be further questioned about the article today at Lusaka Central Police.

A search warrant seen indicated that the officers were looking for documents, date stamps and any item related to the case of the publication of the news in the Daily Nation Newspaper.

Leaders of some prominent civil society organisations such as SACCORD’s Boniface Cheembe, OYV’s Guess Nyirenda and Mr Lewis Mwape from the Zambia Council for Social Development were present during the search.

    • police state from chiefs to ngos now. state of emmergency yili pafumpi and seems vomiting will be 2018

    • What crime has Chipenzi committed? From the way police have panicked it seems the allegations are true.Zambians deserve to know if PF is planning to recruit foreign militia into the country. It seems the police want t know who among their ranks leaked the information to Chipenzi. Those with evidence should put it on the internet so that police can not tamper with it.What is going in Zambia? What kind of people were voted into power?

  1. It must be scary in Zambia, the presence of heavily armed police everywhere. Police state indeed.

  2. I don’t support PF brutality but this MacDonald Chipenzi chap likes issuing statements even when he has very little information about an issue.
    He should be more objective.

    • This is what happens when chaps like Chipenzi take nkani yamumoba to useless media houses. Serves him right!

  3. Is there truth in what he said? Did he breach any state secret issues? Is police recruitment state secret?

  4. This is one big problem with PF quick to act less time to think, this is pure embarrassment and when comes court time the government loses every
case because the overstep their boundaries forgetting people have right.
Chipenzi has a right to express himself and if the government disagrees
issue statement than arresting people now you are making Chipenzi popular.

  5. It is long overdue!Chipenzi is a thug who needs to be squeezed where it matters most.To him democracy is to tell lies. That is the opposite of democracy.

  6. does PF nid 2recruit foreign militia wen they are so many youths around who wd gladly accept the offer if it were 2b givn. the problem wt loose canon chipenzi is his grand shock his preferd party lost terribly in Mansa & nw realizes tht running an NGO does nt automatclly mak u a politcl expert or giant. his leckless statmts cant not b toleratd by law even in advanced democracies. wat if som disgruntled youths rise up and caus cammotn tht their job are being givn to foreign recruits, how wd chipenzi feel? anyway hs go is 2mak country ungovernbl wt hs outrageous & irresponble statmts. the law wl nt standby & watch fan anarchy in the nam of freedm of expresn
