CSAWUZ welcome Sata’s decision over council budgets

Share

The decision by Patriotic Front, President, Michael Sata, to direct PF councilors to go ahead and approve the budgets for their respective councils has cheered the Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia, CSAWUZ.

CSAWUZ Vice president, Beatrice Nyirongo, says it was important that the councils approved their budgets for the benefits of various community projects.

She told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today, that Mr Sata had done the right thing for his party, the council and the people of Zambia.

She added that once the councils approve their budgets people would benefit in their respective areas as the councils would start embarking on different projects.

Mrs Nyirongo added that most of the projects in different areas stalled because most councils had not approved their 2009 budgets.

She has also advised politicians not to do things as they please but listen to the will of the people as they are the one who put them into offices and should be put first.

The CSAWUZ added that money was very important in the lives of the people as it is a driving tool.

Mrs. Nyirongo has since urged the councils that once they approve their budgets and they know the out come, the money allocated to projects should be used for the intended purposes adding that discipline must be observed.

She said with the rains the country was experiencing the councils need to approve their budgets in order to start working on projects such as the drainage systems and garbage collection.

Recently, the PF Leader Sata rescinded his stance and asked his Party councilors countrywide to go ahead and approve the budgets for their councils.

  1. if the heart of the politician is to serve the people they should do it whether they are in office or not. We are tired of self serving politicians whose only goal is to get to state house

  2. Ba Sata what were you upto? To bend the arm of RB? The problem with Sata is he is stubborn and every one in his party can not cough. Its a pity that he has to eat his own vomit.

  3. Viva ba Sata, that is a voice of reason. This is not to say Teta the misguided politician has won, NO!!! The PF leader has the people at heart. Do your preparation well shikulu, 2011 is your year of victory.

  4. Sata is the rite guy for Zambia now if we are to develop as a nation.
He has the heart for the pipo of zed and world at large.

  5. Viva Sata. Thats the reason why I like you, you are very effective as an opposition leader. You should remain as an opposition force until the end of yo political career.

  6. Any meanigful can only be attained if the leader at the helm of the nation is genuine like Mr sata who is always there for the pipo of Zambia.
    Zambians wake up

  7. Sata the only political leader who makes sense in Zambia. This is good dear sata. Show them that you rule. Well done.-
    <:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p

  8. Nine Chale and Undertaker how are you? That is the man of the moment mr Sata himself. He has done it for the Zambian people not that burden to the tax payers,Teta.

  9. it seems to me that in PF sata is the law.HH is a political non -entity(president of southern province!!!).RB…you know for yourselves.credible leadership is becoming a very expensive commodity for zambia. :-<:-<:-<

  10. And you think Sata can be president! One minute he says this theo other minute that and what next. This man is simply a mad dictator. We need to throw him in the political dustbin. PF find a young charismatic leader – Someone with education, himility and people skills.

  11. Sata thinks 4 his MPs and councillors . They are not allowed 2 think on there own even when what they think may be right.

  12. Chiwena am looking 4 u why hve switched off yr 4nis ? Naukaba? Plse come 2 heart of africa or call me now.

  13. Unfortunately it seems we need a leader who can think for our mps and conucillors otherwise if you let them think for themselves nothing will get done apart from them pockets getting fat

  14. Give us a break you funny characters.Who tells you that Sata cant be president?anyway you are intitled to your limitted reason capacity.

  15. PF= Party for Fo*ls indeed. Yesterday when your leaders where refusing to approve the bill, you where praising them, today your leaders approve the bill you are praising them again? Do you know what you want? vizende

  16. Who said that u need to have MBAs or PHDs to be a leader.
Pipo have careers and cant even use them for their intended purposes.
That kinda thinking is very shallow, get off your little box.

  17. I meant to say you who are saying that Sata will never be president, you are entitled to your limitted reasoning capacity.

  18. Change of mind into the right direction is no sign of weakness or indecision. Sata is right on this one. The masses are affectd so he decides to stand for and with them.
As for this Solwezi headboy, he needs some education. The trouble is he thinks the way pipo ‘fear him’ in Solwezi is the same that whole Zambia should do. MMD seems to be short of humans to run important offices that’s how Teta has a chance.

  19. #27, who told you that education only means MBAs or PhDs. Educated people behave and act differently from the way Sata acts. Its not the qualifications, its his behaviour and attitude towards things and other people. Wake up and learn to appreciate things genuinely and dont pretend to know what you don’t.

  20. Shani Uko!! Give credit where it is due. Sata deserves it. Although I like Satas move on this, gut feeling tells me that he is best effective in the opposition than being President. Please do not crucify me on this…just expressing my opinion!! He has been in Govt. for ages and he knows both sides of the coin. Having him in opposition as evidenced by most of his acts kind of highlight critical issues that we ordinary Zedians don’t actually see!!

  21. #33 iam not trying to ridule you but ask yourself, wht role are playing in the community where you are.
Dont look at Sata as a bad guy look at yourself first, whats your contribution to society.

  22. Ba #33,inga mwa ikuta ubwali no mulembwe.Tamulepema bwino pantu akalufumo nakesula kalaleni fye.Aikona uku bwata bwata fye nefishilingile.Sata is a great man.

  23. #37 and #38, if you knew me you would NOT write what you have written. I know Sata very well and I am telling you now that making Sata president would be a greater mistake than we did with Kafupi. Sata can be cruel, childish, corrupt and all the dictatorial acts a man can ever have as long as it suits him. Watch out and stop following blindly.

  24. Undertaker am good thanx.I have been serching for you like a needle. The journey to Tanzania to save the lives of albinos is on this monthened. At least i have found you and Luapula Fish. Now i have to find Pumpy,Wewewe, Wafwa Napanga,Timbwi and Spectator. Undertaker not bakume kwati filya akuma big Show uku tuleya ka.

  25. A positive action by Sata. But does this really make him a presidential material? Have always wondered why Sata’s supporters call him Man of action and think he can be a good President and yet former presidents KK and FTJ do not support him. :):)

  26. A positive action by Sata. But does this really make him a presidential material? Have always wondered why Sata’s supporters call him Man of action and think he can be a good President and yet former presidents KK and FTJ that he worked with do not support him. :):)

  27. #33 Intelligentia, pantu mukonkuluda! Tekanyeni mwisho.
Bushe ngatwalabila ‘ti Sata mwaume, webo ulamona ti mwanakashi mwa!
Aba e ba kateka abena Zambia basalile. Bupupu bwa mavoti kuli ba MMD ebwalufyanya game!

  28. #44 Sharp eye, could easily be blunt eye. The two formers do not want to be seen to be outdone by the man of action. They know what he can do and so they do not want to expose their own failings reflected in the doings of the man Sata. See?

  29. #36 JD if one wire is missing in your head.I would advice you to see a doctor.Who can form a political part for just for the sake of being in the opposition? Are you oke?

  30. I strongly feel that Sata is the best opposition leader that Zambia has ever had. The man is simply marvelluos and very effective as an oppositiion leader. I however feel that Sata can’t make a good president for our country. The following are some of the reasons:(1)The man picks up quarrels easily and gets beaten, which can embarass our country -the late Dawnson Lupunga once clobbered Sata (2) Sata is a shameless liar – he lied about loss of his passport (3)Sata is violent – He organised MMD thugs with pangas in 2001 to sort out FDD cadres in Chawama, He slapped an MMD cadre at Nakatindi hall last year (4)He can support wrong things – was key supporter of Chiluba’s unpopular third term bid

  31. NAC WILL REPOSES ZAMBIAN AIRWAYS

On Thursday January 8, the Zambia National Airports Corporation (NAC) handed to Muntembo Nchinto, CEO of Zambian Airways court summons to settle a bill of US$200 million; on saturday, January 10, Zambian Airways suspended all operations leaving scores of passengers for local and international routes stranded. In a memo at the Lusaka International airport, Mr. Nchito cited high fuel costs over the last year-and-a-half and the need to restructure its operations. He said the rise in the cost of jet fuel by 100 percent in the last 18 months, increased its operational costs by 50 percent.

  32. Chewe

I didnt know ati naiwe mudala you support Chelsea.I tell you Iam sick I couldnt even eat my supper mudala wandi.Apart from that Iam cool though I burnt my fingers in the afternoon as I was baking a cake for my Brother and his family I wanted to suprise them with ci well decorated cake as a way of welcoming them.Iam just watching movies now. 8->8->8->8->8->

  33. “This created a lot of problems for Zambian Airways as a growing business. In the interest of our stakeholders and our employees, we have decided with immediate effect to suspend all our operations until further notice,” He said.We have learned the truth that the real reason for suspending operations is the court summons. The NAC, it has been learned that the Q3 has no capacity to settle the debt as it has been failing to do so for a long time now and the debt keeps on swelling.

  34. It is rumoured that the airline started experiencing financial difficulties after President Mwanawasa died. It is said that, and was reported in the media last year that President Mwanawasa’s regime had ordered all people traveling on government business should use Zambian Airways. But the new government has since withdrawn this ’service’.The NAC, it has been learned, wants a court order authorizing it to use bailiffs to seize and sell the planes to recover its money. The problem maybe compounded by the fact that the planes used by Zambian Airways

  35. Positive? So now it’s a positive move just because Sata has approved it? People you are being unfair to yourselves. I’m now starting to believe that blacks are realy cursed. You always seem to be driven by tribal sentiments and not logic, slaves for ever

  36. Chewe, look at my argument…all I am saying is that Sata is good for the opposition. Sata does not make up the entire PF and the current situation illustrates that Sata/PF are together giving the MMD a migrane!!! This is my opinion. Whats the story… coming up with that language of seeing a doctor because you disagree with me. You normally present constructive arguments but your response to my argument is purely uncalled for. Is my startment so bad that you resort to such language!!

  37. #55 Whatever colour u are, certain terms should not be used without much thought. Cursed!! By who? Slaves!! To who or what? Take it easy, extreme passion to such political matters will depress u without necessity.

  38. Zambian Airways owes NAC a staggering US$200 million.

Also bank and company account records of the post newspapers as of January09,2009 reveal irredemable red status. The over bank drafts and obligations to suppliers and indeed ZRA will be miraculous to overturn without Government help.I think this is a lethal unpronounced killer than the media law that threatened Mmembe.I don’t see GRZ bailing the Post out when many other tabloids have gone under like The Dispatch, The Eagle, the weekly standard and so forth.

Bottomline Politics of insults and business never commingles.Mmembe has wrecked the future of brilliant and ingenous Nchito brothers.

  39. Integrity is key in business practices. The Post newspapers’ Fred Mmembe too busy insulting RB, the church and MMD lacks it all.In the past he has done business using insults to curve principals in his favours until this time that strategy has backfired.

  40. Mmembe should have known that RB is a seasoned economist and politicians.President Mwanawasa errored to curve in to Mmembe with an appeasement through his nephew Amos Malupenga Mmembe used.Look at the lie of fuel when the challenge is incompetence and fuducious irresponsibility. It looks like those insulted as hyenas, monkeys and corrupt by clean Mmembe are observing good systemic procedures and integrity.Zambian airways is in deep debt way beyond its debt risk ratio. No way no how can they emerge out of it but being bought out now by serious investors or the state.

  41. #62 Quality point!! However, as seen earlier in #36, my argument purey relates to the notion that people sometimes join politics/form political parties to expreess there views. For example, the Western World has purely demonised Islam, implying that the West is not ready to have a Muslim leader. This does not mean that Muslims cannot get into higher offices/ run for MP positions to have representatives that serve as a voice for the masses in a similar situation. The recent American elections have highlighted such issues. Therefore, my saying Sata is currently good for the opposition does not necessary mean I need to make a doctors appointment to have my head examined!!!

  42. Chewe

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !Wansekesha mukamba. You are right Mudala I really enjoy cooking mudala. We only have one sister, elo ci guy calimusenda bwangu so there was no one to cook for us.That is how I started cooking for the family at the age of 10.Mukamba Nganaipika abantu ifyupo filapwa coz they praise my cooking than they praise theif wives. :-j:-j:-j:-j:-j.Stay blessed mudala, dont forget your God who took you there.

  43. Sata would have been the best leader of them all. Zambia has a misplaced priority in choosing leaders. The consequences will always haunt Zambia, more so those that need govt the most-Villagers and the poor. RB has no social programs for the poor, but his fellow rich friends. May be if Zambians suffer more they will realize the need for a pragmatic and seasoned leader like Sata.

  44. To all who are against Sata,

Pipo we should learn to be greatful, why do you want to be stiff-nacked like the pipo who stoned Stephen for nothing.Lets give praises where they are due. This man has been their for the pipo of Zed when other opposition leaders are no where to be seen.Where is Sakwiba,Hakainde,Nawakwi,Miyanda and Tilyenji?all these fake opposition leader only appears when its election time to split votes, but here is sata trying to speak for the pipo of Zed,you are busy uttering ma rubbish agaist him.Come on guys we all did civics and we all know the functions of opposition parties. This is exactly what this ma is doing.

  45. SATA is an undecided old man. One day he says this, the other day he says that.Talk of being a chameleon. And his MP’s have no say at all. That is enough proof that he is a sadistic dictator.

This guy always makes me laugh.

FACT: SATA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT.

  46. Its ok to flip-flop cos no one is a genius except God.
If sata makes a u-turn on an issue he doesnt mean, he mighty have missed point.
Even the most celebrated politician of the moment(Obama)does flip- flop.

  47. Sata and Teta have the same character, they like drawing attention to themselves. In this particular case Sata was beaten squarely. He did not anticipate his opponent’s power. Sata has also been out manouvred on the issue of mayor elections because the elections will be conducted as directed by Teta. Lets wait for the next round.

  48. #74, unfortunately Sata flipflops all the time. It’s his nature,he never sticks to any principles. That is why he comments on any issue that gives him political milage. Sata has never supported an issue that is unpopular but right.

  49. #79. Zambia will be liquidated if Sata ever becomes president. Go and eat sand and die. You are people zambia does not need.

  50. Even Obama has proposed to the pipo who critise to start offering solutions and if they are good he is gonna go with them.
Does that mean he is gonna flip-flop? As a leader u have to do whats for the nation and not for yourself.Thats wht sata just did.Get it folks.

  51. #67 Sata is good at exploiting people’s suffering for his own benefit. That explains why he comments on any issue that appears to be popular with the masses or will make him win votes. That does not make him a good leader. A good leader should be able to stand up and support issues that might be unpopular but right for the future.

  52. Guys tell me. What has happened to the chief rigger Mwaanga? Is he going to rig in 2011? I do not think he will get there. His health appears to be bad, but good for Zambians for him to pack and go.

  53. #80.
You are the one who should go and eat sand and die. Just take a look at your MMD and see how they have turned this country into a circus. Wake up Man and smell the Victory that Sata will be president come 2011.
Don’t waste your time answering back as am out of here.

  54. #85. MMD with people like Mulongoti is go a gonna. We are only missing LPM. The funeral continues. But Sata is not the option. Bakalalila yeee.

  55. Sata indeed has eaten his vomitus. No one man is bigger than Zambia.
Time for him to retire and maybe PF will look much better.

  56. Sata is a joker, he had to be given an ultimatum by Tetamashimaba for him to concede.. this man is rebellious by nature.

  57. Sorry, I guess my position as one person in diaspora remains questionable. I will go by myself a dictionary. I have just done a spell check on this one. Do I get a tick?

  58. Those who support Sata even if its on tribal lines please, this man is the most terrible creature or leader zed can ever have. He can create a mess and later start laughing at it or even insult his own mess. Some of the problems and mess affecting MMD were created and left by Sata and Chiluba regime and today the same man can turn back to insult in the name of speaking for the people, only people without their own minds can listen. The man just makes noise without giving solutions to a problem. Even some of his mps cannot think for themselves, what kind of a leader is this man Mwebantu bamuchalo.

  59. #107 not really, just packing my bags and getting ready to go to Z’ Tuesday. Kind of stressed out but thats no excuse for wrong spelling just being careless. And on top of that my logs keep going off…less heat freezing my b…cks!!

  60. Actually this guy (SATA) talks sense. Sorry MMD I am very embarrased by RB’s way of thinking so I am out.RB has been an embarrasment from day one in office, I have had enough.

Next elections I vote this guy SATA. How can one join PF in the UK.

  61. Safe trip JD. Enjoy. I was just pulling your leg. I enjoyed the banter. When do you come back?

I have to go and have some rest. Back to work at 8. Take care now.

    3RqU! 😉

  62. #110 Take care…great chatting to you. I know but it was great fun. I am back in four days… just going to do some work. Happy New year!!! :)>-

  63. Wow, so there are some brains in that poorest country in the Southern region. My friends did not know it exists, you see when we go on holidays we go to South Africa, and the surrounding countries but non of my friends know Zambia as in that region.

Who is this SATA? by the way the present president of Zambia is rather empty upstairs, if you know what I mean mate.

  64. 8-> PF supporters, are you telling us that you will continue to follow Sata in his flip floping? I admire your adamancy but I dont envy your reasoning….Given my independentness of mind and ability to disect and integrate issues, I can not follow a guy who, by the time he says the conclussion of his story, he has forgotten its introduction. Dont swallow me ba PF….these are facts! peace :)>-

  65. ONE CAN ONLY UNDERSTAND HOW YOUNG MMD’S FEEL ABOUT OUR HONOURABLE RB, HE HAS LET DOWN ALL HIS VILLAGERS BY NOW, THEY ARE VERY QUIETLY REGRETING AND ANGRY WITH THOSE WHO REALISED HIS DULLNESS FROM THE START.
Sorry guys PF leader is outstanding, SATA is brainy unlike our bones and muscle +fat=RB. God help our ZED. :)):)):)):)):)):))**==:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/:d/

  66. Sata will continue to eat his vomit. Am surprised that some bloggers are helping him eat the vomit. Like mentioned somewhere else, Sata and Teta are just the same in all ways. Both are cantankerous, one would think they were born from the same mother

  67. Sandu,Free Market Capitalist,Mbo,Zed patriot,100% ant Sata,JD,The Intelligentier, Engine Block naiwe ka Choma. Imwe ba kabolala tamwakwata insambu shakupontela bakateka ba Sata mwa umfwa? Dont just open your mouths and start ranting against mr Sata like that. The man has brains no wonder he has won even the hearts of interlectuals okay.Inga mwaikuta Chibuku muleikala fye tondolo.

  68. Its really sad that for many the support for SATA is tribal rather than realistic/objective.Is it that we Zambians have a short memory? I for one have witnessed what”real” Michael Sata can do just as a minister(prior and during Chiluba’s infamous third term bid). For this reason, i will be living in denial to say Sata will one day rule coz what he did haunts him and lingers in pipo’s minds.I dont like MMD but PF under Sata is not even a close substitute to the current leadership. Please find a good leader and who knows i may be the boat as well.

  69. you a man zambia need mr sata.we owez rally behind you coz you ve the interest of the pipo.if you stop politics i would rather stop voting.
    :((:((:((

  70. Decisions have to be made by someone at sometime or the other. GRZ keeps “thinking” while drainages are blocked, grass is growing leading to more malaria. Sata plays local government well with the whole decentralization process, but for him to fully convince Zambians he needs to decentralize his party. Sata is a good leader, but needs to surround himself with quality advisers and needs someone to keep a tight leash on him at times.

What do we do with this man? We want him at times at times we don’t. His deep long campaigns (already started?) give him much publicity, but also give his opponents alot of ammunition to use against him. Complex situation.

  71. I dont understand you Zambians; Sata sees that the Impasse between him and one Tetamashimba would just produce negative results and you call him all sorts of names; Teta instead of appreciating says Sata has surrendered because he knew I was going to approve….blah blah

  72. Politic side, we need to start questioning some of these budgets, yes we know that the budgets will now be approved but do we know their contents? Do they really have the best interest of our communities at heart? If we do not, how can we then hold our local governments accountable? How do we know if they have delivered or chewed the loot?

Lusaka Times we love you but in the future we would appreciate if you could help us by also publishing some of the contents of these budgets so that we can hold out leaders accountable

  73. #117, you are a man, i too don’t like MMD, but PF is worse with sata the leader, try some one else, we are tired with the tribe of sata. if you change leaders i will help paddle ubwato.

  74. #116 Chewe, you seem to enjoy insults quite a lot. But let me tell you something: SATA is a dictator, unpredictable, annoying most of the times and is NOT a statesman. He talks too much and most of his talk is baseless. He is very full of his kaponya mentality and would turn Zambia into a very bad place where democracy would NEVER ever be entertained. Don’t ever give power to such a man. He is too dangerous for democracy and peace. I don’t hate him but am only facing facts the way I know them. I don’t pretend and regret tomorrow.

  75. PF is Sata’s party and nobody will ever be allowed to lead it as long as the old Cobra lives. And you think that is democracy? No party cards, no membership register and therefore obviously no convention and no decisions by anyone other than the old Cobra. Waikatako wapya, Machungwa wapya, ba Sinyangwe bapya, Chishimba wapya, hehehe. What a party? I can NEVER join such a party because I don’t idolise dictators like SATA.

  76. Do not be cheated!!

    Sata is a joker
    Sata is a dictator
    Sata is kaponya
    Sata is unreasonable
Sata is capable of doing ANYTHING… you know what I mean.
Sata is PF and PF is Sata.

We do not need such people to lead Zambia

I am extremely disappointed that some called union official is ‘praising’ Sata for COMMANDING his councilors to approve what they are supposed to approve. Is this not NONSENCE from the so called president? Why didn’t they do it in the first place? …THE PRESIDENT COMMANDED THEM NOT TO DO IT!!!

  77. Sir I admire you. You are a very strong leader and Zambia needs you despite what everyone is saying.
The only mistake you made was traking Chishimba back into your party. Sir that man has bad mouthed you from the very start and he continues to do so. I choose to remain anonymous but will still say I LOVE YOU BIG TIME AND CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU AS OUR LEADER PRETTY SOON.
    You are my Hero!

  78. Sata is a great leader. I agree with previous comment above. Zambia needs courageous leaders like m sata. Much love to you boss.
    We in sydney love you
