President Michael Sata has congratulated Peter Mutharika on his election victory as President of Malawi in the just ended tripartite elections.

President Sata joins other Heads of State who have congratulated the new Malawian leader.

President Sata said Prof. Mutharika’s election victory is an attestation of the confidence the people of Malawi have entrusted in him to guide and govern them on the path to prosperity.

Mr. Sata said this in a press statement released to media in Lusaka yesterday by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah.

The Head of State reaffirmed government’s desire to maintain the excellent fraternal relations that already exist between the two sisterly countries.

“The peaceful process of the change of power demonstrates the maturity of democracy in your country as well as the aspirations of the people of Malawi to live in continued peace and harmony. As the Malawian people celebrate your victory, I wish to reaffirm my Government’s desire to maintain the excellent fraternal relations that already exist between our two sisterly countries,” President Sata said.

President Sata stated that he looked forward to working closely with the Malawi President in exploring new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

He wished the new President-elect best wishes and personal good health as well as success in discharging the functions of the highest office in that country.

“I look forward to working closely with you Your Excellency, in exploring new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of our two peoples. Please accept, Your Excellency and Dear Brother, my best wishes for your personal good health as well as success in discharging the functions of the highest office in the Republic of Malawi,” he said.

    • Micheal Charles Katongo Chilufya Nshimololwa Sata and his sinking Pabwato have a lot to learn from the Malawi polls – NO PANGA and NO STONES at all…..!!!!!

    • You should also be ready to congratulate HH when you lose elections in 2016 Mr. Ukwa.

    • LT, please report correctly. Your article should start with –

George Chellah says that Sata said….. We have not heard Sata say anything.

And we know that Chellah is just a LIAR like his boss!

    • Ukwa has no clue about what GeorgeChela has written for him in tht so called message. Ukwa has no capacity to write anything let alone think lie an intellectual. We told you Zambia needed a university graduate for a president. Most of you said it was a segregative close. Mwaona mange, mwayamba kuila.

  1. What a man! As can be seen in this statement, his excellency is a champion of democracy. This is a very mature statement. Its better than that junk our young released yestaday. Long live our father. Thanks fo working on the kwacha. U hav shamed the wailers

  2. I’m glad that HEMCS knows that Malawi has a new president. A few days ago he said “Malawi has a woman president”, etc.

    #OneZambia

  3. DEFINITION: WAILER IN THIS CONTEXT MEANS ANY PERSON WHO NEVER SAYS ANYTHING GOOD ABT PF DESPITE THAT PERSON VOTING PF INTO POWER!

  4. “the fraternal relations that exist between our two sisterly countries.”

Fraternal….. sisterly? LOL – someone needs a lesson in gender….. and how to use a dictionary.

    • We (Zambians) have ‘brotherly’ (fraternal)love for one another with the Malawians. Brother here encompasses our women as in mankind, man etc. Countries are feminine. E.g Zambia and her rich mineral resources makes her one of the richest countries in Africa albeit on paper. Therefore, the use of sisterly phrase means and I quote “a thing, especially an organisation, a country that bears a relationship to another of common origin or allegiance or mutual association: Eastern’s airline, sister ship” is CORRECT and well written – credit due.

    • @ OHW: Nice try, but it is not correct (and certainly not well written!) to mix fraternal and sisterly when referring to the same object in a sentence. The relations between Zambia and Malawi cannot be male and female at the same time! Why not just write “the fraternal relations between our two countries” and leave it there?

Put another way, if it sounds wrong it just ain’t right. Simple.

  5. Abangeleshi bakontolola abanabo pali ka mistake ka fraternal, Come on Zambians this is a foreign language lets strive to promote our languages local is laka. Anyway congrats Peter Mutharika.

    • In everything we do including speaking and writing in a foreign language we should strive to be perfect. Even though it’s a foreign language it really matters how we use it. Besides this foreign language happens to be the only official language in our country. It is here to stay and doesn’t show any signs of going anywhere any time soon. Are you suggesting that anything foreign should be broken to pieces, dashed, destroyed and thrown out? I struggle to come to grips with this kind of reasoning. It just pulverizes me senseless.

    • WELL said Mr President we are together in your support for the new president of Malawi. We wish you and the president of Malawi good health.

  6. LT this is an old photo. Please learn to match your photos to the relevant news. Now away from that – His Excellency has finally managed to give a sane statement despite a small silly mistake. When are we going to start having foreign heads of states visit, Your Excellency?

  7. Yes it is important to wish others and to be wished good health, otherwise you can be confined to a presidential hospice in future yourself. Isn’t that a great lesson for all of us?

  8. Sata and Muthalika have something in common. They all became presidents of their respective countries at 74 years old.

  9. This is wholly from Chellah because Sata still thinks the president of Malawi is Ngwazi Kamuzu Banda and his deputy is Choice Banda with Kazamira Tembo deputizing Choice!

  10. Ka HH kali blue with envy. Waba icunsu, bushe chinshi taubeyela? Aba tonga ifiko are in their DNA. Ni mwambo.

    • Why are some people so obsessed with HH? Even when the statement has nothing to do with him some bloggers just can’t keep to the topic and avoid the name HH! Please have a life and contribute positively.

  11. Thanks your Excellency. Malawi and Zambia are one in many ways.

Imwe sure, how do you cover the glass of water with a saucer… kambale sure! Please find a neat beaded netting…

    • I doubt it very much as nobody wants him to visit them. Also dont forget that Ukwa had beef with the new president’s late brother that was never resolved and that led to Ukwa donating petrol to Malawi that Zambia could ill afford when Mrs Banda attained the presidency. Incidentally, in this election our dear Ukwa was backing Atupele Muluzi who failed miserably.

  12. This has been Sata’s ‘busiest’ week of his presidency, mumbling about a hundred words at an impromptu swearing-in ceremony of two new ambassadors, telling Zambians how ‘fit and well’ he is and now congratulating Mutharika. The man is ‘busy’, jealous down though mute on the dying Kwacha.

  13. We have been told this man is busy trying to sort out the many problems Zambia is facing. Well ,I think he does not even know the problems Zambia is facing because he is always locked up in Nkwazi house.I think also he does not have the mental capacity to digest as much of the problems going on outside the walls of Nkwazi house. The job we have seen him do is swear in his friends and family to work for Zambia’s foreign missions abroad. That appears to be what brings more money in peoples pockets.

  14. I hope Sata will also congratulate the winner in 2016 coz he’s most certainly going to be replaced after all the fvck up he’s done.

    • @Mei Matungu, this is an OLD picture. Maybe you have forgotten, taking pictures of Sata at State House has been BANNED.

LT have to use pictures from the archives.

Obviously recent pictures are too bad to publish!
