Lottie Phiri slays Zesco United

Lottie Phiri today handed Power Dynamos its first win in three matches after the Kitwe side beat Zesco United 2-1 in a FAZ Super Division Week 21 game at Arthur Davies Stadium.

The win lifted some pressure off coach Tennant Chilumba and Power’s executive after three successive uninspiring draws.

Power took the lead in the 29th minute when Kobe Chipeta scored his first goal for his new club since joining them from Lime Hotspurs this season.

However, that lead lasted just two minutes when Jackson Mwanza pounced to score his 12th goal of the season.

It looked like Power were heading to another customary draw until the 65th minute when Phiri made up for his poor performance with a poacher’s goal to hand the homeside its first win since beating Indeni 5-1 at the same venue on July 27.

The defeat was Zesco’s third this season while Power remain the only side with one league defeat in 2014.
