Zambia and Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka has suggested that failing to score does not bother him so much.
Mayuka last evening ended his two-year Chipolopolo goal-drought in the 3-0 win over Niger in a 2015 Africa Cup qualifier played in Ndola.
Wednesday’s goal was Mayuka’s first for Zambia since August 15, 2012 when Chipolopolo lost 2-1 away to South Korea in a friendly played in Seoul.
The striker refused to admit that scoring against Niger was a relief for him.
“How can I say I am relieved? No, I believe in every department you work as a team not as an individual and I believe I am a team player,” he said.
Mayuka added:”Even if I score or I don’t score as long as I am putting in everything for the team and at the end of the day we all want three points.”
He is yet to score since returning to Southampton this term after a loan spell at French side Sochaux last season.
“Ofcourse it is good to score and that is what I do,” Mayuka said.
Who’s fooling who… Mwaiche stop living in denial every striker wants to score each time out there ..that is why your on the bench coz you can not score consistently .. Free advise let it bother your when you don’t score maybe you might work harder…
Katongo e walekakila abanankwe ama goals. Too much juju Ba Katongo. Goals have started coming after him being chased from the squad.
Advice, not advise.
Well done sonny…try not to leave Southampton, rather see it as a challenge to break through the first team and command a position…like u did in the Swiss league 🙂 Some of us believe in u…
Katongo was the causer because of ukutemwa ukutomba
That’s because you are still guaranteed of position the national even if you sleep on the bench in England.
He must understand that without scoring goals his position is in danger. All strikers are rated on the number of goals they score and assists made. ManU Gaal explained as one of the reason for selling Welbeck to Arsenal.
it wasn’t something worth talking about naimwe.even a blind man can score. a goal is what you scored against ghana at afcon, idddioott
“Even my wife could have scored that one”!!!!!! Denis Liwewe would be heard screaming in the olden days.
fyabene spot on the goal against Ghana in a crucial semi – final at the Afcon by Mayuka was brilliant,i was even thinking he ll make a good star in the EPL but only to find himself a benchwarmer.i think the best for him is to leave Soton for another club like Wigan…
when GOD say’s yes he means it,no human being can fake what he has already said .This is a time for mayuka GOD has given him ‘he will play and score like no mans business ,i bless you in the name of jesus :no evil people on you, no spells back to the senda.
But the the truth of the matter is that mayuka is not good enough at the moment to deserve a place in the national team. It has to start from the club and you graduate to the national team………..If we are going to insist on Mayuka being number ONE striker then we are doomed in Maputo. That Maputo game is” winner takes it all”.Let us try the fresh legs that are playing football week in and week out. Let us not just play names like Chamanga, Jacob, Fwayo, Mayuka etc. A good example of desire, hunger for goals and fighting spirit was was by Bruce Musakanya………..So many young players like Sate Sate, Alex Ngonga would add fire to our blunt scoring machine.
