The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) chairperson Irene Mambilima has said that the commission will not use the electronic transmission of results from polling station in the coming presidential by-elections.
She explained that results from polling stations will be physically delivered to the 150 constituency centres by the presiding officers of the polling stations then later transmitted electronically to the commission headquarters and the national results centre at Mulungushi international conference centre.
She urged the political parties to ensure that their party agents were aware of the procedures for witnessing the proceedings of the polls at various polling stations ahead of the January, 20, presidential elections.
Justice Mambilima expressed confidence that ECZ will deliver a successful presidential by elections come 20th January, 2015.
She said the commission has so far made good progress in the preparations for the presidential elections.
Justice Mambilima said ECZ has delivered to all districts non-security materials comprising items such as ballot boxes and ballot booths.
She said the commission has conducted the necessary training of the various aspects of elections for the diverse group of staff.
Justice Mambilima reaffirmed that the commission will not register any new voters but will issue voters cards to already registered voters that may have lost their voters cards from December 28, 2014 to January 3rd, 2015.
And ECZ has asked political parties to give guidance to their cadres in order for them to abide by the electoral code of conduct while campaigning for their candidates.
ECZ chairperson Irene Mambilima says the commission will be on alert to handle any matters of conflict that may arise during the election period adding that this will be done through Conflict Management Committees that have been established at national and district level.
Justice Mabilima, who was speaking today in Lusaka during a meeting with presidential candidates and their party officials held at Mulungushi International conference center further called on the public to report any electoral malpractice to the police, Anti-Corruption Commission or any other law enforcement agencies.
The meeting was aimed at taking presidential candidates through the nomination process so that they could be conversant with the requirements ahead of the elections.
The political parties present at the meeting include United Nation Independence Party (UNIP) president Tiliyenji Kaunda, National Restoration party (NAREP) president Elias Chipimo Junior, Patriotic Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu, Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) President Rupiah Banda and National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba.
Others were Christian Democratic Party (CDP) president Danny Pule, Heritage Party president Godfrey Miyanda, Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) president Ludwig Sondashi, Green Party president Peter Sinkamba and Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi.
Ooooh ok,lets hope its 4 tha best
That is a bad news for the PF & Edgar Lungu, 10% rigged votes eliminated.
Bo madam Chairperson of the commission, give dates of nomination filing to parties by alphabetical order. No discrimination, no favour. They shall all follow the rules.
HH is too busy campaigning to attend the meeting. Anyway he will get the minutes of the meeting.
Don’t understand why I have been red arrrowed. Pres HH was in Mbala and Mpulungu today campaigning.

Thats good news i must say, but our president was missing.I presume he was busy doing what he does best delivering the manifesto to the people of Zambia.Flight HH2015,fasten you seat belts folks.State house here we land!Aleisa aleisa!!
Keep dreaming! Since when did you jump ship?? There is no upnd in Mpika, Mbala, Serenje, Northern… I can’t remember where you are from, from those parts of the country again… Go and vote in Zambia or just keep looking after the patients in hospital.
Zedwatchdog don’t win you an election.
Viva PF!!
Whichever method is used Edgar is in State House. All methods have loopholes.
By the way, is it true that in 2011 RB never wanted the late to be declared as a winner. It took KK for him to accept the results. How sure are we that this time around he will be obedient. For sure is not going anywhere. As Mambilima said let people take a close look on all the processes involved when result are being counted and validated including during voting. RB´s group and EL have hugger-mugger kind of behavior
My dear brethren lets pray against the spirit of violence, confusion that is gripping the blessed nation of Zambia.Lets pray for peace to prevail during and after the elections.
Remember we are first of all Zambians regardless of our political affiliations. Please lets pray!
can HH failure to attend ECZ meeting a sign of conceeding defeat? Mr lungu sir you have gone to state house to save both the rich and the poor, old and the young PF members and non PF. For HH you can still help zambians
Monde now it’s about campaigning. He is focused, Lungu will get a shock of his life with his laziness, confidence alone doesn’t win elections. The race to state house is up for grabs. If PF lose kiss the party goodbye.
People advocating for Banda,Lungu, HH etc, are you thinking or just hoping to get Jobs and contracts. shame on you.We have become narrow minded, leakages for exams, rigging of elections, bribing of police everyone knows give them K50 and they will let you go whose fooling who.The same Banda lie we hear again, carrying on a with due respect a dead mans vision, like Zambia was a dynasty. If leaders where irreplaceable and only experienced people went into state house, the would be no hope for our children. The first parliament was full of standard six, villagers and today the want to appear like, hey go back to the sixties then come and stand for President.our fathers have failed we gave them 50 years, arise young Zambian and take responsibility,Stop this cadre nonsense, the future belongs to you
Who can win a game of football between these two teams: The one that has first class players and the one that trusts the referee for favoures( the Dilamba type)?
I will not vote for HH unless he denounces the zambianwatchdog
My good lady madam justice Mambilima is making great efforts for this election.
Ma’am I love you and have great faith in you. You seem to have so much integrity.
Madam Justice Mambilima wins everything today. And tomorrow. And the next day.
In. Case you missed it – I love this woman.
@Jessi12 for sure these are the people WHO SHOULD WORK FOR ZAMBIA until they just say “I am tired I need to retire”. She is a DISCIPLINED WOMAN and CAN NOT BE CORRUPTED by ANY POLITICIAN. I like her too.
God Loves Zambia
Hh cant win. Just sober up people. Hh is forcing people to accept him. While lungu drws people except one small tribe. Drunkards that are in masses and prostitutes and the poor identify themselves with lungu a komboni boy from chawama. Hh draws surpot frm a minority clique. That is how democracy works. HH next month, all his online surptaz will dissapear
So there will be no electronic transmission of elections results from Polling stations. To be perfectly honest, I do not even understand the significance of this declaration.
What was AKULU MPHUNO doing their instead of The MMD President NEVERS MUMBA, I think this Old man is stuborn, thus why Thandiwe does not support him
Justice Mambilima is one of the few upright and competent Justices in the Zambian judiciary. How I wished she was the Chief Justice.
YA YA YA THIS IS BAD FOR UPND.VIAVA PF.EL ALL DAY WAY!!
