GOVERNMENT says it is will continue with the Link Zambia Road 8000 project in order for more areas become accessible in the country.

Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga said yesterday that Government would not abandon the project because it was good as it was aimed at opening up more areas across the country.

Mr Mukanga said the project was vital to Zambians because once done more economic development would be fostered in the country as a result of the good road networks.

The minister said currently the PF Government was constructing the Chipata-Chadiza and Vubwi roads in Eastern Province, Bottom Road in Southern Province and Kalabo-Mongu road in Western Province.

Mr Mukanga said the Government recognizes the need to intensify efforts in closing the development gap between the rural and urban areas.

He said Government would continue doing everything possible to foster infrastructure developments across the country.

“Government is live to the fact that through Link Zambia 8000 project wants to see that more areas all opened up across all the ten provinces of the country. So as the PF government we shall not abandon a good project link the Link Zambia 8000,”he said.

The minister said the PF would always want to connect to people through the good road networks all parts of the country.

Mr Mukanga said Government was also paying the contractors who were executing the Link Zambia Road 8000 Project.

He cited an example of China State that was constructing the Chipata-Chadiza road that had been paid by the Government.

  3. I wish you saw Lusaka two weeks ago, the city was almost under water because of poor roads and drainage system. The give contract to people who can’t do the work properly. Yes we are building roads but are they durable? Who approves the quality of these roads? We don’t have qualified town planners. I guess people in those offices don’t travel, the still see the cities in the 50 ‘ s , please research and learn from other nations.

  4. Avoid making sweeping statements as these….What you are saying is that the councils do not have qualified personnel to carry simple storm drain designs is both an insult to the gallant men working in the councils as well as a show of naivety on your part. All councils in Zambia are now well stocked with the right qualifications. What is missing however is the political will as well as funding to these organs. Otherwise we have an ambitious program of constructing underground drains and a more improved road network within the city. You go to the civic centre on Monday to view the designs. What is hindering us however are the funds to execute this project. That is why the 20th voting will not be business as usual, we need to be serious as Zambians so that we can redeem ourselves

  5. You talk sense never the less it’s us citizen who put these same people in power. What have councils done? Why can’t they stand together and voices their plans? They needs jobs so they keep quiet and promote leaders who don’t help the nation but help themselves. You can have a plan but if not put to action it’s useless sir. Do you involve the public to see your vision? Go on any website for a city council in England or Australia then you will understand my point. Share your vision people will support you. People are willing to pay tax if money is put to good use.

  6. Secondly you talk about having plans and you now blame not having funds to build infrastructure what happens to funds collected by the councils? If councils can’t function why have them then? Are they just used as cash cows by government can’t voice their needs? The problem you vote for people and bring in leaders into government and offices because you need your jobs protected or they know x and y. We’re did Mulenga Sata come from?
