Maximise the use of Indigenous Languages-Prof Kashoki

Share

A linguist at the University of Zambia (UNZA) has said there was need for the maximising the use of indigenous African languages in order to accelerate socio-economic development in the country.

African Languages Professor Mubanga Kashoki observed that there was need to explore ways of ensuring that law reform was made to be aligned more closely to programmes of accelerating socio-economic development in Africa through the use of indigenous African languages.

Prof. Kashoki said if the law reform and economic development was to be achieved in the long term, utilisation of indigenous African languages should be stressed.

He said African countries should begin using their indigenous languages for the express purpose of promoting sustainable socio-economic development on the African continent.

Prof Kashoki contended that the colonisation of the African continent by former imperial powers had the immediate and long term effects of fundamentally altering the socio-cultural systems.

He pointed out that the indigenous system of education had previously shaped the mentality and the outlook on life of the African peoples but is has now been altered.

He has since called on law makers to take a leaf from countries such as South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, and Namibia who have taken steps to ensure that culture and language were enshrined in their national constitutions as fundamental human rights.

Prof Kashoki said there was need for Africa to consider placing indigenous African languages at the centre of its peoples´ socio-economic development through relevant policies and programmes as embodied in the then African Union (AU) Language Plan of Action as adopted by Heads of States and Government in Addis
Ababa in 1986.

  1. I thought just that. I withheld mentioning Prof Kashoki in my previous posting yesterday. It was deliberate. Pro. Kashoki is a die hard exponent of promoting his language to be a national one. He could as well have tabled that debate in Luapula. He is a dangerous tribalist who uses the UNZA African Literature Department for his lust to see his language spoken nationwide. Do not destroy what KK built because of your egoism and hate for other languages Prof. What has Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Namibia achieved in terms of economic advancement, that can be attributed to language liberalism, as you are trying to make us believe. Mind you, Zambia may not have advanced that much

    • It is unbelievable to read Mr Chintu’s comments on Professor Kashoki’s fundamental beliefs about using African languages for social and economic development of our nation. Especially, the case for Zambia is an interesting one. This morbid fear of tribalism should we promote our languages for social and economic development plays dead centre into the colonial mind set. We need to move on and embrace our languages for development. Zambian indigenous languages ought to be promoted so we can empower ourselves with the wonders of using our own languages. Look at China, France, Germany, etc.Research shows that the majority of Zambians do not speak English and yet it is a language that is used to govern them. Even if you are not Prof. Kashoki, this does not make sense in our modern Zambia

  2. cont’d

economically, but we walk with heads high priding ourselves with the peace and serenity we have enjoyed since the founding of this this great nation in 1964. And you want to through all that to the winds???!!! SHAME Prof.

  3. Zambia is doing just fine Prof. we are respected worldwide for our ability to stay united. 70+ languages but no tribal related bloodshed for over 40 years and still going strong.

  4. How many Zambian languages does Kashoki speak ? I think he speaks only Bemba. Shameful for a man who advocates African languages. I believe Kashoki went to Chukuni for high school yet speaks not a word of Tonga. We are tired of his efforts to impose a language we all know he wants to be national language. By the way do not UNZA Professors retire ? It seems the retirements afftects some and not others. Human Rights and speaking African languages !!!What nonsense.

  5. Prof. Kashoki speaks many languages #4 Cheese. I concur with the Prof. Zambia needs to maximise the use of its languages.

  6. Kashoki is abusing his office to promote his tribe. He is a rabid tribalist and must be ignored by all citizens of Zambia who cherish unity and harmony. The fact that the MMD have been focused on developing themselves as individuals instead of developing the country via public institutions such as UNZA, agriculture, education, health, sensible ownership with the foreigners in mining, they have made our country think that the development of the tribe is much better than the whole country. Levy’s fascination with his family has worsened our national outlook. All these criminals must be dealt with.

  7. kashoki just wants to advance his Bemba language as the national laguage. KK did well. So don’t retrogress us back to tribalism.UK is developed using english as a unifying language. But they don’t use Welsh and Scotish langauages in their economical development.

  8. Another tribalist has resurfaced !!careful fellow countrymen,we know Kashoki very well and he’s so dangerous !!abash tribalism!!

  9. It does not come as a suprise that within one week, Luapulan “Chieves” and their mouth piece at the UNZA department of languages one Professori Kashoki are out vehemently trying to convince Zambians that we should make an ancient Mwata Yamvo Katangese dialect the national language of this country. We know that during the time one of them was president, they even brought a debate to the floor of the house to make their lingua a national one. We’re still suffering from FTJ’s “nu kacharization” of Zambia and to try to complete it by imposing a stinking language on us is satanic and shall be resisted. You recall how Sata reacted “balelanda ifitundu shileufwa” to Levy’s Lamba comments?

  10. LET US LEARN TO APPRECIATE ALL THE CULTURES OF THIS WORLD. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE LEARN EVERYTHING. I HAVE ENTERED TANZANIA AND ZIMBABWE MANY TIMES WITHOUT A PASSPORT BECAUSE OF THE LANGUAGE ADVANTAGE. LET US STRIVE TO LEARN AS MUCH AS WE CAN. IT HELPS. ITS ONE ZED, ONE NATION.I myself am Lenje and can speak the following Zambian dialects very very well; Tonga, Ila, Lenje, Kaonde, Lamba,Lozi, Nyanja, Swaka, Bemba, and Lala. I speak Shona and Swahili fluently and now I am able to speak 50 percent Arabic.I am a Christian though.By virtue of my Lozi speech, I can understand Tswana and wire a few Tswana lines.

  11. It seems this national language debate will continue for a long time. Thus, it is imperative that we take it seriously and find means to address it nationally.

To solve this impasse, I think the government must begin trying to do feasibility studies of whether a federal system of government can be useful in Zambia.

Anyhow, let us all reduce on insults and focus our attention on useful comments.

Someone said actions speak louder than words. And so, we will soon know who the REAL TRIBALISTS are in Zambia. enjoy.

  12. #3 Zulu,

Who in the world respects Zambia? Speaking other people’s language and teaching your day old nyanja chld to cry and play in english is stupidity of its worst kind.
Haven’t you heard of unity in diversity? Prof Kashoki’s ideas are his learned ideas and he has reasons for promoting your language and his so that you can compete favourable on the global village. What comperative advantage does your child have on the chinese, jap or english when your child thinks in an alien way? Lets promote ourselves and launguage is just one way

  13. Prof Kashoki with due respect to Linguistic studies, is a dangerous element in our society. His philosophy is biased and therefore can not be reliable. Kashoki does not promote African languages, neither does he strive to preserve languages which are declining. He instead promotes One Language at expense of others and you dont have to ask which one. This automatically makes him unreliable when discussing Zed languages on the broader perspex. I would like to be advise How many languages does Kashoki Speak????. Info has it he went to Chikuni?

  14. Guys just make Bemba the national language of Zambia. Most people I know home and abroad understand or speak bemba. Zambia does not even have 72 languages, I think it’s about 10 languages in total. Most of these others are dialets of these 10 languages. In terms of language distribution, Bemba has the lions share in Zambia followed by Nyanja and the rest. But the bemba spoken in urban area is very different to the deep bemba so when we all adopt the urban bemba, its like we are speaking a new language plus the mixes that are coming up these days, we can create a new language mixed up out of the 10 languages.

  15. HK # 15 it would appear to me that this site is saturated with armchair cyber critics, just out of interest what is your own philospohy? and as an independent unbiased observer I thought he referred to AFRICAN LANGUAGES not just one language? furthermore what relevance does Chikuni have to this discussion, or is that some sort of contrived dig?

  16. I suggest that we adopt the language of our smallest tribe as a national language. In this manner, we shall all be at the learning post in huge numbers, equal to the task. Bemba is a language of insults and stealing. I detest it. Everyone of them is a thief. The whole province of Luapula supports stealing via its kelptomaniac guys like Chiluba and Katele. I do not want my kids to start insulting anybody by learning Bemba, and stealing anything in site and call it privatization.

  17. I’m amazed at how some people can jump to conclusion about the prof being tribalist!!. I have gone thru the article.. He refers to African and African languages and does not even refer to Zambian languages. The people refering to the Prof as being tribalist to me are true tribalists. Unless you have additional infor about people (prof included) avoid being too simplistic. I’m not Tonga but HH from nowwhere was labbeled Tribalist. Avoid being malicious. Debate with facts and not assumptions.

  18. I agree With No 1 plus other comments that are visionary on this issue. Surely with all the due respect to the Prof what he is trying to advocate for is a non starter for this Country and better we remain the way we have been for the last forty three years since independence. The reasoning behind the Prof is ill timed and ill intentional to say the least. Some times i get dumbfounded with the resoning of our learned colleagues. Us who have read enough should not mislead our people on certain things that we also do not really understand in terms of long term implications. Please spare Zambians on this one and talk about other issues that affect our people in the communities. Full stop.

  19. The Prof. totally speaks my mind. There is nothing tribal about being who we are. Let’s face reality: English was imposed on us forcefully (against the will of our forefathers!) just like slavery. By giving ANY other Zambian language at least the same significance as English, we are simply showing that we have a mind of our own!

  20. Why not try swahiri? To me it sounds more universal than any other language in Zambia.I have no problem with bemba as a language but am not comfortable with some hegemonists and semi-literates who believe their language is the best! Some bembas in s/province came with the Kariba in the 50s&60s but can not speak a word of the local language and still want to impose their languages in those areas. Its hard to believe that there in an area in Luapula where LOZI OR TONGA is spoken with impunity like what is going on along lake kariba.

  21. 22. #19 I agree, where are you all people getting the information that the Prof wants Bemba to be a national lang in this story? And where do you get this tribalist thing? Do you have the info the rest of us don’t? Please read the story and debate on the facts. Don’t bring your petty opinions based on the fact that your self-marginalized tribe has scores to settle with the Bembas. Leave us a lone, we marry anybody, live everywhere and have successfully exported our language to all corners of Zambia because we are generally nice people. We even vote for tribalists and let them run our nation with their family trees. Please look at the big picture and debate the issue and hand.

  23. #17. A man or woman is judged by their previous views and orientation unless they renounce there position.. “If you are an advocate of doom today”, when you talk about peace without Qualification”, people will look at you with contempt and seek your motive.Voting History on social or economic issues is very important in Civilized world.
whatever the professor will say, his credibility will always be questioned. In legal ways, he made himself “unreliable” witness.
Let our Langauges Conjugate, co-exist, and with time they will evolve to the level where integration would not be a problem. “Kashioki want Bemba to be Zed Official language” That wont happen peacefully in this century.like it/not

  24. I am yet to get an answer on Prof.Kashioki Mubanga PhD!!!
How many Zambian languages can he speak??? His short loan collection thesis es shows his intensive study of his own language and norms, and the other languages are referenced for compare/contrast. This alone makes him incompetent to speak on Zambian languages as a whole, yet alone just refer to African ethnic anthropology & Linguistic.
His writing is all available..Those who are interested can dig into his books , his speeches and thesis es.
I challenge the professor to elaborate how he intends to diffuse tensions btwn zedian tribes already exiting, fueld by FTJ and adopted effectively by LPM/Family tree. Kenya a reference case.

  25. HK # 26 was that response directed at question # 17 if so then you have certainly not shed any further light on the matter. Having said that from what I can decipher from your tome it would appear that you have some sort of grudge against the professor or perhaps Bembas in general though as I and a few others have pointed out, he makes no reference to any particular language, and talks about African languages in general. It is only the likes of yourselves who are apparently attempting to turn this discussion into a tribal issue. Whatever previous views you are refering to I can not comment on, as I am looking at this issue from and objective view, and based purely on the facts presented

  26. What does it take for a language to be called ‘official or is it national’? In my view if any local language is today declared official, there wouldnt be any change in pipo’s lives. Becoz everybody would still be speaking languages they know and no one would be forced to speak a language they dont know or they dont want to know. So the difference ‘is the same’ for me. I dont subscribe to the notion that using a language other than mine entails that my tribe is inferior. This is a serious complex in my view. I proudly use any language as long as I know it. The purpose of a language is primarily commnunication, Not picking up spears to conquer others. Otherwise we would b slaves of Brits.

  27. People your unwarranted attacks on the Prof makes me feel you are all scared of the Bembas! Mubanga Kashoki is a professor of / in ‘African Languages’. Has he promoted bemba in the story presented by LT above? NO!
Why do you want your own fears of the unknown make Kashoki a tribalist? The man never chose to be born Bemba! He took the trouble to learn other African indeginous languages, and instead of you chaps seeing the positive you are calling the inncent man all sorts of names????!!!!!

  28. It amazes me how people think and how they generalise issues. The hate you habour for other ethnic groups (esp), the Bembas show in your denial and complexities of defense mechanisms. As noted by # 26, the Prof is talking about African languages. No one has kept you from studying Tonga idioms and that should not make you jealous of someone who studied Bemba idioms. You think like an uneducated person and you are the same guys if cloned would produce Kenya 2. I am not in support of Prof’s ideas but he is free to share his passion. HK you stink.

  29. From the facts presented in the article, the Prof is saying “use of African languages should be maximised”. Not use of Bemba as diluted by those who elect elevate Bemba each time such issues come up. There are many pipo who have done research on their tribes and have obtained academic credentials, there is nothing wrong with that. Neither does it make you a tribalist. Our own Her Excellency Ambassador Inonge Mbikusita Lewanika has done a lot of good work on the Lozi History and that in no way makes her a tribalist. The list is endless. Zed is blessed that there are just a few individuals with agendas always waiting to see tribalism even were it is clear no such is existing. Be objective guys

  30. #29 well said

Language is for communication. As things stand we are all victims of the English language so trying to battle it out as to which local language should be used in the country is not very important.

  31. There is nothing wrong in what the prof. has proposed. His proposals have come at a time when some people have proposed the use of local languages in parley. As such, people are led to see the two propsals as connected. I dont know what he means by maximising the use of local language. If he means taking it to parley he is wrong. South Africans are very good at languages and one can speak several SA languages. Malawi scenario has only one language just like Botswana. Zambia has to be taken differently and not to generalise that because Namibia does this, then we can do it in Zambia. Lets b oringinal and come out with our own system that suits at no comparism.

  32. You miss the pointdeliberately by defending the obvious on Kashioki. The professor’s views can not be held as standalone. He has before produced articles and statements which makes his successor statements subject to analysis by current and future scholar.
Kashioki’s academia is nothing spectacular, but cheap research based on self preservation which our ancestors have mastered without much efforts.
I am sure Prof Kashioki’s cant comprehend Mathematics. For his information, Language Problem problem solving is not Linear/Static but dynamic/variable where only Calculus applies..Integrations and Differentiations at both lower and higher orders are applicable.
    Study fish migrations in future.

  33. HK first of all it is obvious that you are the one missing the point here, i.e this is not a forum for you to vent your personal grievance’s against the professor or bembas, secondly seeing as you are such an expert why don’t you publish your own theories and contribute positively to this issue, rather than taking cheap shots.I don’t recall reading anywhere that the professor said he was a mathematician, nor do I see its relevance here, though I suppose that can be extended to all of your “contributions”

  34. #39, I am not the one who went to LT to publish the article. pro MK did so by speaking to them. He is on the spotlight here and am hammering him accordingly. if you are affected because am revealing his grand plan or grand orientation..I have no apologize.
For your information, Nigeria is well known for Corruption and crime world wide, 1/4 of every crime and corruption committed by a Nigerian is accredited to an IBO. Dont mistake my hate for bad things to indicate I hate BembaZ, Iboo, Bin Laden or should I say Bembas Speaking because Kashioki or Chiluba is not Bemba anyway ..I did not create the statistics. I just happen to fall on the stats which hate foolishness.

  35. #34 you have hammered the point. Nobacizi aba Kwesu (Sisters and Brothers), please let us all endeavour to take Zambia forward economically, scientifically, socailly and technologically.

I am /(We are) in a hurry to catch up with the rest of the world – especially the west. There is no time to start doing mathematics in Tonga or indeed science in Tonga. While it would be nice to do it, we dont have the financial, human resources and moral capabilities to translate all the existing stuff into Tonga or indeed any other languages.

If we feel we have eaten too much, let us please share what we have with the needier on comparison to ourselves.

One Zambia, one Nation. Viva Dr Kaunda K.D.

  36. # 41 Is it beyond the realms of possiblity for you to comrehend that what the Prof and we here are talking about is AFRICAN LANGUAGES not Bembas, Iboo, Bin Laden or whatever else you decide to bring into this discussion or are you incapable of thinking outside tribal lines? lord give me strength!!!

  37. As a matter of fact, Zambians are far much ahead of many nationals world-wide in terms of communicating in English. This puts us at an advantage. Let us give the needful respect to the New Deal Government of my President Mwanawasa LP. Presid. Mwanawasa and your government you are on the right track. It is so nice to read about the advances that the country is doing economically. Let us be enterprenuerers instead of splitting ourselves with evils suc as TRIBALISM. I, for one, am learning Afrikaans, Zulu, Sotho and Xhosa.I know enough Zedian languages to communicate with any Zedians. And so putting one language in the name of Bemba on a pedestal is unnecessary. Let all move on as it currently is

  38. Kashoki a tunda kupi? Ku ma ni ng’ola mu moshobo wange, tumone nji Kashoki alimuka mushobo ou…

That is my attempt at speaking my mother’s tongue, Nyengo. I am interested to find out how many people can understand what I just wrote. …My point is, there will be a lotta confusion if we all spoke our own languages, some of which are like Latin, going to extinction. I definitely speak better Lozi than I would speak Nyengo, because Lozi is a unifying language and distinguishes the people from Western province, a bigger geographical area than where Nyengo is spoken by a few thousands in Kalabo.

  39. Kashoki musilu kapati!eeci cidala cinyina maano..amucenjele nobana Zambia satani wasika muzyina lya Kashoki!kabzwa aawa bakabwlala aba.

  40. #41. “Prof Kashoki contended that the colonisation of the African continent by former imperial powers had the immediate and long term effects of fundamentally altering the socio-cultural systems”

Does he want to reverse this effect by introducing African language??. What time period does he have to have this effected without resorting to segregation to shorten the implemtns. Case study Study of Afrikaans in Black dominated schools.
What is his action plan, short, medium and long term.
We are de-colonised now, our fight is economic independence. how will that be accelerated by use of African languages.

  41. HK is deluded. I wonder if he would hold a different opinion if the views of Prof K were expressed by someone from a tribe other than Bemba. This Bemba hating and bashing should come to an end. It’s not the fault of the Bemba speaking tribes that Bemba is so widely spoken in Zambia. By the way the fact one speaks Bemba or has a Bemba sounding name does not make one Bemba. The Scots speak English but are not English.

  42. “Prof MK said African countries should begin using their indigenous languages for the express purpose of promoting sustainable socio-economic development on the African continent”

With the above statement, I don’t see where the Prof MK is talking above ultimate integration of these languages to provide seamless communication. There are over 2000 Languages in Africa, each with its own traditions and culture diametrically separate if reverse engineered and acknowledged. Therefore developing all at once is not practble.Thats where the conflict start. What solution does he have to mitigate this obvious conflict in short term.
The answer lies in his conscious , prefnces and desires. Thesis

  43. damn you Kashoki and your kawalala manners !!bemba is one nice…kaponya and stupid language.pliz ban this language coz even churches that use it look like bus stops and streets!once a child knows bemba b4 english then kwasila she /he will be dull and hate english…

  44. HK once again instead of criticising the Prof’s ideas, which he is entitled to, what would you propose, we could all do with a good laugh?

  45. HK once again instead of criticising the Prof’s ideas, which he is entitled to, what would you propose, we could all do with a good laugh?

  46. Malaika,
Tribalism sound like Cannibalism to me. Both are primitive. It is only yesterday when some primitive tribes in Zambia had no basis of understanding economics.
Even hygene was limited therefore we were referred to by Dr Livingstone as stinking Africans, that white man who lived among us and hoisted by Susi and Chuma at his death. We had our tribes and Languages undiluted. Now integrate from there, English-Science & mathematics not valid boundaries conditions.
My philanthropy thought is simple, African tribes pride was always in creating wars. And this is evident in our easy way to butcher each other. There is something subtle in all tribal wars. bottomline dominance and resistance.

  47. HK..I challenge the prof to a Debate!!!
LT can you bring the professor online so that we can ask him Questions and get answers.

  48. Mucende #46,47. Ndili kucisi ca Musanza Afurika ku ddolopo lya-Hermanus.

  49. is there a difference between kashoki and B. mugabe? Both hzve a hatred for something and both want to advance somethingand that something is something

  50. #58. If you are the spokesman for kashioki, Tell him I will pay him twice the salary he gets as a researcher!!!. I am sure that will be more attractive since he has better things to do than defend his work or he should concede defeat. He should not be like Bob Mugabe

  51. #45 Nyengo is a dialect of Nkoya. I can speak Nkoya because I lived in Kaoma for a long time. In short I understood what you typed without steping a foot in Kalabo were you think only Nyengo(Nkoya) is spoken. Don’t be mistaken my friend, Nyengo or is it Nkoya is spoken through out western Province and beyond! The interesting thing though is that I can speak at least 7 languages in Zambia effectively covering the whole country!

  52. 67, Nyengo is not a dialect of Nkoya, it is a dialect of Siluyana. Aluyi are the present day Lozis, with similar dialects, that is why you say Nyengo(Nkoya) is spoken throughout Western province. I am glad that you understood what I wrote, but it is a question of how many other people did?

  53. My friend, the following are the tribal groups that refer to themselves as Lozi:

Kwandi,Kwangwa, Mbowe, Mbumi, Simaa, Imilangu, Mwenyi, Makoma, Liyuwa, Mulonga, Mashi, Kwandu, Mbukushu

    These are the Nkoya Dialects:

Lukolwe, Mbwela, (Mbowela), Lushangi, (Lushange), Mashasha
Shishanjo, Lumbu, Mabuwa, Shibanda, Nyengo, Nawiko

There is no tribe called Aluyi. Aluyi is a Nkoya (Mbowela) word meaning “Visitors” which was given to the Lozi speaking groups mentioned above when the arrived in Western Zambia. Luyana is an old name for Kololo speaking groups. Check your history.

  54. #69 Thank you for your posting. It shows how interesting some history, geography, customs and culture are brought forward to enlighten one another as opposed to divide ourselves. I am Bemba but have learned and received the contribution with an open mind. In fact it reminded me of my primary school social studies. One Zambia, One Nation. Please teach HK some manners!

  55. As long as people like HK exisit in Zambia; people with such blatant and deep-rooted hatred for another tribe’ I am assured that Zambia is safe. For who would in this day and age hope to rise to any position of national leadership based on the oozing tribalist hatred of others such as that put on display here by HK and his fellow tribalists? No, Zambians are too intelligent today to fall for that kind of BS!! It always amazes me that those who claim to be “intelligent” and/or “educated” are the first to spew the foulest and most primitive rubbish!

  56. Being a prof is being sick in the head. All my prof’s mind looked upside down. As a forensic Accountant, i realise Kashoki is broke and by engaging in some shallow research, his account balance will increase.
We all know where kashoki started and that’s why people are calling him triblist. This is because using the motive system of establishing trading for tax purpose, Kashoki is motived to slowly creep into people’s mind with his so called research. Abash Kashoki and his editorial friends at the Post….

  57. Well Professor first of all Parliament radio is just on the line of rail, and i guess we have already spoken to say we cant have a tribe in zed dominate another. I always wonder why some Bemba chaps here think i we shud speak a language we dont want. You cant force it on us , we dont want period….make ur own kingdom Luapula and Nothern and speak it we wont refuse you. So Profeesor first translate all the words from english top Bemba, Lozi, Chokwe Tonga etc worlds like interest rates, Inflation, Budget overruns , etc before you talk nonesense……….

  59. Kashoki is so dull and broke!let him go back to the land and make alot of money than on silly researches like this one!

  60. # 64 HK As stated before, we are still waiting for your own thesis, on this matter, or is your area of specialty spitting tribalsit venom, and criticising others while having nothing of any value to contribute yourself? I susupect that is th case as evidenced in your puerile postings!

  61. Before you talk about formalising native languages,How many for you out there can READ/WRITE in your native languages? See if you can count 1 to 100 in your langauge?

Native languages have being forseeken for the seek of English. Native languages are part of our CULTURE and IDENTITY. The new generations are lost the “west culure” due to the soly use of english.

What is need is keep a tight hold on our culture and languages. Instead solely teaching english in school, they education system should revised to make native languages compulsory, alongside English, its say from
grade 1 to 7.In each province, the most spoken language should be selected…

  62. #79. I hail from Southern Province of the Republic of Zambia and I assure you that I learnt how to read and write in Tonga from Grades 1 to 7. At that time learning Tonga was compulsory, a thing which, i think, is still happening today.

Thus, I would like to simply recommend that all private schools must be made to teach the Most-Used-Local languages in each of the Zambian nine provinces since GRZ ones are doing it.

Another cardinal thing to consider is whether the above-mentioned Local languages must be learnt as compulsory in Secondary/High school across the whole country. This would, I believe, to some extent help out in inducting sound Zambian values and manners in our young.

  66. Imwe mwe fikopo condeming every idea. What is inter party dialogue? It means all parties in Luapula were involved in the dialogue including your tonga party UPND. Be realistic you educated irritates, your inferiority complex about your languages has made you say a lot of rubish on people who mean well about issues. You are so closed up with your indenegenous language that even your own children cant learn your languages. Leave people who appreciate what indegeneous mean give realistic suggestions. Fools profs shotcoming does mean all bembas. You should also talk about chuchu who has exhibited nepotism openly ala mwe ngombe mwe.

  67. it is official all you neutrals if you want to learn a language use siLozi or siNyanja. Lozi is a language. Bemba is a tribe. siLOZI KI PUO
