UPND to discipline Col Panji Kunda for endorsing Sata

Share

Panji Kaunda

The United Party for National Development (UPND) says it will formally summon Colonel Panji Kaunda to exculpate himself and explain media reports that he endorsed the candidature of PF leader Michael Sata in this year’s elections.

UPND presidential adviser Douglas Siakalima has told QFM news that Colonel Kaunda’s statement that Mr. Sata is the right candidate for this year’s elections is an indication that he has chased himself from the UPND.

Mr. Siakalima says Colonel Kaunda is hopeful that Mr. Sata will win this year’s elections hence his move to side with the PF leader.

He says people like Colonel Kaunda always looked for opportunities to be linked with ruling parties for personal benefit.

But when asked on whether the UPND has any plans of extending its disciplinary action to Professor Clive Chirwa for proposing that Mr. Sata was the most preferred candidate at the time the pact was still alive, Mr. Siakalima said professor Chirwa has apologized for his actions.

He adds taking disciplinary action against Professor Chirwa would be unfair because PF secretary General Wynter Kabimba was to blame for the leakage of information that was deemed confidential.

And party president Hakainde Hichilema has challenged Panji Kaunda to leave UPND and join the Patriotic Front (PF) so that he can effectively campaign for PF leader Michael Sata.

[pullquote]“As UPND, we have passed the stage of reconciling with PF and if Col Kaunda thinks Mr Sata is a better presidential candidate of the pact, he should leave UPND and join PF so that he can campaign effectively for the PF leader,” Mr Hichilema said.[/pullquote]

Mr Hichilema said Colonel Kaunda did not own UPND and was, therefore, free to leave and join the PF to enable him campaign for Mr Sata whom he felt was a better presidential candidate.

He was reacting to Col Kaunda’s statement during the Copperbelt Pact Forum at Jubilee Lodge in Kitwe that he believed Mr Sata could lead Zambia and that Mr Hichilema should be Mr Sata’s vice-president.

One of the resolutions which constituted what was called the ‘Jubilee Declaration’ was that Mr Hichilema should accept to be vice-president to Mr Sata, failure to which members of the pact should identify who should lead the pact.

But when contacted, Mr Hichilema said the UPND had gone beyond the stage of reconciling with the PF because the former pact partners had failed to exhibit seriousness on important national issues.

He said Col Kaunda should leave the UPND because he (Hichilema) was not ready to be vice-president to Mr Sata.

“As UPND, we have passed the stage of reconciling with PF and if Col Kaunda thinks Mr Sata is a better presidential candidate of the pact, he should leave UPND and join PF so that he can campaign effectively for the PF leader,” Mr Hichilema said.

Mr Hichilema said Col Kaunda did not form the UPND and nothing would change even if he left the party.

He said PF officials were insisting that Mr Sata be the presidential candidate of the pact because they were more interested in sharing positions than serving the interests of Zambians.

Mr Hichilema said the PF had failed to explain how it would improvepeople’s lives, but insisted that Mr Sata should be the candidate of the pact because it wanted to share positions and enrich from the national resources.

  1. Why should you discipline the man who is saying the truth. You are a good man Col.Zambia need people like you for change to occur this year.

  2. Panji is just turbon. Hi father KK has advised Zambian on many occasions why Sata is not presidential material. Leave UPND or appologise and forge ahead. we dont have time bane..let reach out to rural areas and encourage people to register as voters.

  3. Is he a UPND member this son of kaunda…!!! am disappointed.. why can he just join PF to help sata win elections instead of causing problems in the UPND….!!!

  4. RBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB Chabe

  5. Bushe umwana teti amone ati Batata balibacila indala kuli ba wish bamunankwe. Teti mumukalipile nga amicita remind ati tata ninshi tamwashitila motoka kwati bashi maano palya pa nganda. kusumina fye ati ba wishi ba mu upnd balibacila tompwe kuli ba wishi ba mu pf

  6. Sata is a man for Zambia. Zambians vote for sata 2011. For me Iam out here becoming a citizen soon. I hope dual citizen come into effect. Imagine for instance I visit Zambia and suddenly a confusion like what is in Libya arise new country may send a plane for me. A wise advise vote for sata because he has a good track record in the politics.

  7. What Panji has said is no different from Clive Chirwa’s proposal. It does not matter how Chirwa’s proposal surfaced. If he meant it as a proposal to UPND, he should not have copied it to PF, allowing for UPND NEC to discuss the proposal before sending it to PF. My take is that the proposal was discussed and ‘approved’ except that Kabimba rushed to announce the deal instead of waiting for UPND. If disciplinary action is to be taken, let them both be suummoned.

  8. Very interesting indeed. Now what happens when PF wins. Remember there is nothing imposible. Will see who will have the loudest lough. The colapse of the pact has now been confirmed by HH and I quote “He said Col Kaunda should leave the UPND because he (Hichilema) was not ready to be vice-president to Mr Sata”. HH thought he would ride on the back of Sata and like an underfive and supprise Sata for the presidency but with Sata’s inteligecy network this was not going to be and what was next for HH moooooooooooto

  9. Panji Kaunda does not know where he belongs. You can see from his recent statements that the man lacks intelligence. He just says what comes to his head without much thought and analysis. To my surprise, the Post even carry his statements as main headlines. If the man lacks intelligence then we also doubt the sincerity and intelligence of the Post because deep down they know that what Panji says lacks credibility and is recipe for anarchy. Any responsible newspaper cannot prop such an individual unless it has a hidden agenda. Chanda Chimba III must continue hummering these chaps. We are tired of onesided reporting where every single day you are trying to pull your friends down. It never works because people are intelligent enough to see what is obtaining on the ground.

  10. Some of the headlines can be misleading; I was left wondering who Col. Panji KUNDA is until I read further only to note that it is KAUNDA. It’s certainly not the first time this typo has happened and I hope LT will take it as constructive criticism.

  11. Freedom of speech and the secrecy of the ballot is what democracy is about. Hounding out Panji from UPND just shows that the party has no better things to do. After all if they chase any member, UPND will be one more member short in its support base. Mazoka would not have done this as he had a brain of a giant.

  12. The Problem is not Panji but the so called Pact ”leaders” who always want to blame their supporters for the failure of the Pact! Time wise Sata has nothing to lose for he is the evenings of his life! HH and his core-supporters should just kick start their campaign and avoid dragging us back to this Pact nosense of better still they should swallow their pride and start working with MMD!

  13. Panji is free to air his view, and free to say whom he could vote for. To sack him from UPND is imature action eve to discipline him for he committed no wrong. Those against Panji should revisit their thoughts. This man is even a prophet for the next election situation, believe him or not; what he has said so far will come true. He is very logical and consistent.

  14. panji is right because sata is the people’s choice if anything there are more upnd members that have decided to support sata. HH can’t win elections, he should first became provincial chairman so that he can learn politics on the ground.

  15. Dr Kaunda the father to the poverty stricken spent force, misguided loose cannon Panji Kaunda has on a number of times told Zambians that Sata is a wrong person to lead Zambia. It is amazing how poverty can make people became st.upid. Panji is so poor nowadays that if you visit his so called farm in Chipata/Malawi border you will be shocked. We understand why he has become a political prostitute. He thinks he can eat from both hands in case PF or UPND pulls a quick one against MMD. Am sure the dull colonel has now come to his senses that he can not take Zambians for granted.I listened to Let the People Talk and people did not relent but to tell him off that Zambia is past an era where we should be ruled by an old, old police constable from the colonial days. Viva UPND..go HH.

  16. This is democracy, it’s allowed to be a member of one party but support another if you don’t think your leader is strong enough. There’s nothing wrong there but the party can off course deal with him but they have to understand that he is under no obligation to agree with everything the party does or believes in. However Sata is not the right man nor is RB it’s time the 2 chaps retired from active politics. Zed needs to move forward and very quickly.

  17. #20 You are mislead. People would rather support RB and Sata from UPND. You are yet to be shocked. Sata is far away from the ideology of UPND compared to MMD. The wind will either be MMD or UPND come these elections. UPND is very strong on Agriculture and hence being very strong out their. PF has never said anything on Agricuture, in fact the president for PF has absolutely no example he can give people under Agriculture. Sata is only strong at insults that is the reason a lot of Kaponyas enjoy his useless rallies. Throughout all rallies the man only concentrate on dissing others no developmental agenda in his head. Wrong material for president. That is why a lot of people have found no sense in his campaigns. He sounds more like Gadafii insults and dimining other people even from his ownPF

  18. ba HH twalemona kwati mwalikwata amano……. no wonder you don’t even look in pipo’s eyes! you are more of a sanake than the cobra! Panji is right and he has seen more days than you….anyway chase him and see how we confirm that you are a tribalist…Makaka and forget about the few votes you got in eastern province……..remeber western its milupi and pf, north western its pf because we have now migrated to work in the mines with our families….where does this leave you?…..you are a disgrace …you have just killed your political future mufana!

  19. #1, Promote dignified press freedom. You cannot say it is right for husband/wife to be calling for a girl/boy friend while in the bed with legitimate partner? If you continue keeping such a partner in bed definately you must be having some physical or sychological problem, and it mus be terribly serious. UPND has no such disabilities so the honourable thing is to open the door for Panji TO WALK OUT WITHOUT INJURING WITHOUT WASTING CAMPAIGN TIME.
Dont encourage immoral type of debates and politics ,we want objective forward debates not disgruntled type of using your God given brains.

  20. truth pains you must accept pipo’s views…unless you are undemocratic ! politics and marriage coan not be compared…. reason in marriage there is consumation which bonds the couple together but in politics its absent so your example is outside coverage area think of another thing my friend

  21. politician are made of the same material. they dont want diversity of view. they want everyone belonging to one party to agree on everything. it no wonder that they hope from one party to another. this behaviour needs to change. i see nothing wrong for what panji did or what mpombo did or rebels of PF. we need to accept intellectual discussions without threatening punitive measure against opposing political view.

  22. The problem with UPND is that it has become a one man show.Look at the statement from the man himself(HH).He thinks he owns UPND.He is just an arrogant and puffed up chap.He should go back to corporate world where he is going to show his haughtiness.HH is not a presidential material. He can do better if he joins corporate institution like NAPSA and ZRA.He is still childish and puerile in the way he handles salient issues. The man thinks he owns UPND and its stooges. He has a haughty spirit which makes him not fit for presidency. If he disciplines Panji, let him reinstate Chizhyuka. At least Robbie told him frankly that he cannot work with Bembas.HH was so arrogant and he went ahead. How many people is he going to discpline. He is just a small i.d.i.o.t who has destroyed UPND.We deserve better as U

  23. From the comments here, its clear that the majority of bloggers are kids under 30 years hence their protruding ignorance on Panji. They know nothing why Panji found his way from the army, what he did from 1979 to 1991, why he has never been KK’s favorite son but late Major NgwaWezi Kaunda? Is it a surprise that Wezi was made deputy minister of Home affairs but no position for Panji?

  24. Zambian leaders generally lack emotional maturity, they display hysterical tendencies on issues that call for mature thought and reflection. As a leader, you should not respond to everything; and you do not have to attack every divergent view. You do not need to intimidate people who give you advice or when they disagree with you. In my opinion, all the leaders in the main parties lack that something extra special.

  25. #18 and #21 , SATA chased the so called rebels when they expressed their choice of thinking but you are justifying that, with that type of caliber if let to debate for the development of Zambia we will end up in th ditch or blood shed because of inconsistence in some minds.

  26. If in the know ask yourselves why Mufulira based Chalambas Transport and Kasembo Motors kicked him out of the business after 1991. Ask yourselves why Panji lives on alms giving when Tilyenji has thriving Paza trading in Zambia, many properties on Roma township’s Kasangula and Zambezi roads, thriving businesses in Zimbabwe since the 90s. Kaweche is making it comfortably in South Africa while Kambarage’s businesses are booming in Angola but Panji Kaunda a polygamous destitute. All properties he forcefully got threatening people with his pistol during the UNIP era are all but gone. He has suffered the most defaults, bailiffs and collections like no one else in Zambia.

  27. Synonimus with SATA and PF suporters is INSULT,ARROGANCE, DICTATORSHIP,TRIBALISM SONG ,PROPENSITY FOR POWER/POSITIONS, LACK DIALOGUE AND TERRIBLE INCONSISTENCE

  28. Panji is beta leaving the UPND instead of saying he is upnd when he does nt believe in its leadership.

  29. Insala ba Panji. He needs soup, thats all.KK has cut off his resource tap to Panji. This chap is still a ‘Panji solye ubwali’.

  30. # No 23 I agree with u in totallity.
If we have such reasoning here on the blog we can enlighten more people here. This country needs serious Leadership which should be visionary and have serious development agenda for the country. Its very painful to see people so blind to the writing on the wall about opportunists that have no programmes, but fomed their parties not principles but on an agenda to hit back at people……because they dd not chose them as president in MMD, but chose Levy…..
Panji Kaunda must be disciplined because he is talking with his stomach.

  31. When it came to international dignitary connections, KK always linked up late Wezi Kaunda and never Panji Kaunda. Wezi was connected with friends of KK from Mideast, Asia, the USA, EU to African capitals yet not a single one to Panji Kaunda. The father has always found Panji as not intelligent, emotional, unreliable, Gold digger, predatory, spammer, opportunist, lacking principles, visionless kwalola umwela surrogate than critical thinking statesman. Late Wezi was not only a pragmatist, but smart intellectual full of principles and discipline. Above and beyond, not a surprise that Panji is not educated.

  32. I have no time for Colonel Panji. I had much respect for Wezi (RIP) but not for Panji. Here he is even going against his father’s wisdom. Ni mwana wa bwanji wamene a tukana makolo?

  33. There will BE NO BLOOD SHED here in ZAMBIA. Only when SATA comes to power and people find no development in 90 days….No money in the pocket after 90 days…..prices go up 1000%….investors pull out…..human rights violations….insulting small tribes….currency losing value…..the youth and the old lose jobs……………………then they can be blood shed…..if we elect a democratic leader…..or if MMD wins….there can not be violence or Blood shed as an aftermath………………….

  34. I am extremely comfortable with HH as our next President because I think in the time that PF and UPND have been in a pact, Sata and Kawimba and Scott have been the ‘under fives.’ The young man has now matured to a Tonga bull. Yes, mwana muyumu! Keep it up HH and come 2016, you will be the natural successor to RB.

  35. The Col. is obsessed with the thought of getting rid of MMD. While UPND wants the removal of MMD, its obsession is to be able to provide a better government that will steer the people of Zambia out of poverty through job creation, collection of broader and lower taxes and providing contracts to young people who are the most affected where jobs are concerned. How can one support the removal of MMD without a clear plan of how to move forward beyond elections? # 13 is interested in seeing who will have the last laugh, the last laugh, if PF won, will be made by UPND just less then two years of PF rule, everything will be mismanaged, poverty will skyrockect, unemployment probably more than 85%, high nepotism and richer ruling elites. Mark my words! Meanwhile, open your eyes, ears and mind……

  36. Panji is driven by expectations for crams than principles. He learnt that HH is a billioneer so he moved their to share with what Garry Nkombo earns from HH. When the hardcore capitalist HH has not dropping freebies, Panji has turned to Sata in anticipation of crams from the pro-gays campaign funding Sata is taking in. Knowing Sata’s natural greediness, the love affair between the two who have accused each other before of arms cache at Sindamisale farm will be over for new tycoon in town.

Be ware with Panji’s opportunism if you return to Zambia with your dollars. He is a loose Gold digger.

  37. @ 31. You seem to have some personal issues with Panji. The lowdown you have given on his personal life and choices surely have nothing to do with the subject matter. Are you saying, Panji should not participate in politics on account of his economic/financial standing and not being KK’s favourite son?

  38. #42 Please NOTE that in politics a person character and track record count more than what a person is saying he will do. Listen how progressive democracies quizzy candidates on what they have said in the past…and their conduct in previous days of their lives…….this provides a litmus paper to see whether a candidate is suitable to be president……thus morality…..honesty….trustworth….consistence….collaborations/freinds…as well as knowledge of what is happening in both the economy and world over matters a lot….than propaganda and sweet talk…………thus why countries like botswana are move at a pace we have not witnessed.

  39. The man( Panji) is right period. The PACT failed bcoz UPND cant accept that Sata is more popular than Sunny Chintombwa, but that is the reality. i have travelled countrywide, Sata is more popular than Sunny Chintombwa

  40. Iwe Panji, kapenene ukutali. The adage say “lightening does not strike at the same place twice” Mwalilya during your Fathers rule palifula. Leka na ifwe tulyeko. Mulefwayako ne Nchito , Mwaikalilafye ama Politics, Atase

  41. #29 Zambian,
I agree with you in totality, our leaders lack emotional maturity and this goes for most, if not all our politicians, with this kind of outburst from HH, there is no way the pact would have worked, to me the man is over ambitious and overates himself..he has very wrong advisors

  42. Reading through some people’s comments, my stomach stirs! To all those advocating the election of SATA, wait a minute, think of yourself today, think of your children tommorrow and and your children’s children. Three generations and possibly more whose future will be threatened because of electing one wrong man for president. Five years is too long to wait! In fact, i don’t even know why bloggers should try to outwit each other when the writing is on the wall. With the breaking of the PACT, neither PF nor UPND will carry the day. For ba SATA, it may even be the last time to try. That is why the PACT should have been nartured and guarded jealously. For me, I will vote for the right man for Zambia, HH, because he represents the future of Zambia. Sata/RB don’t bring food to my table,…

  43. If col panji said,we shall support HH or RB, PF sympathizers would have complained bitterly just like the UPND and MMD supporters have done.the problem is that, people who cannot rise above party affiliation dont want to hear the truth. No one on this blog wants to hear the negatives of his/her preferred Party or candidate. No one on this blog comments with an independent Mind and there are very few on this blog who speak for a better Zambia.you all speak for parties(MMD,UPND,PF) and individuals(RB,HH and SATA) even when you know that the people of Zambia are suffering.the common denominator is Zambia and thats the core business for all of us.we need men and women who are ready to rise above party affiliation for the sake of progress.

  44. And former PF central committee member Syacheye Madyenkuku said his return to the MMD is meant to mobilise the people for the development of the province.

“That is me. I want to work for the people. This is the only province in the entire country without an MMD member of Parliament. So, we need to have them. It is not a good record to be proud of. This is the period for Mr Rupiah Banda,” he said.

Also, Namwala member of Parliament Robby Chizyuka said Southern Province cannot produce a president if it remains in the opposition, hence the need to change.

  45. Panji is right. UPND u full of self people. Already before summoning Panji, HH is busy asking him to leave UPND.
UPND No matter what comes in 2011 is coming out 3rd. what wil matter is weather MMD will recapture some seats lost to UPND. MMD busy scheming to grab them back.

  46. On “UPND presidential adviser Douglas Siakalima has told QFM news that Colonel Kaunda’s statement that Mr. Sata is the right candidate for this year’s elections is an indication that he has chased himself from the UPND… says people like Colonel Kaunda always looked for opportunities to be linked with ruling parties for personal benefit” I am glad that the mighty UPND has started trimming those that are difficult to work with.

I hope Col Panji Kaunda will expend his energies in supporting serpent Sata MC for President of Zambia this year so that he is defeated together with Sata during the elections. It is interesting the George Mpombo who has supported Panji in this deception has been taught a good lesson in the Kafulafuta’s Ward by-election where UPND beat PF by a large…

  47. Just chase him. Who is he anyway? Viva HH. Mr Panji go join the Kaponyas, but let me warn you that while your ‘newly-found’ leader is in the boat, he doesn’t even know how to paddle or swim. Mwabunda bane!!!

  48. Discpline the Broken Hill Man, A Col. soldier who never faught a war. Iam realibly informed that he doesn’t even know how to operate an air gun. H.H please expel this empty bucket!!!

  49. ALL HICHILEMA WANTED WAS PRESIDENCY BUT SATA IS MORE POPULAR THAN HIM.
COL.KAUNDA IS RIGHT EVEN HON.MPOMBO SAID IT IN TODAY’S POST.
THOSE WHO WANT CHANGE DONT WASTE YOUR VOTES ON HH.
ONLY SATA IS BETTER POSITIONED TO BRING CHANGE.
VIVA SATA AND PF COME 2011.

  50. Whether we like it or not Panji’s is Dr Kaunda’s son! How Dr Kaunda choose to relate with his children is non of our business. The Post where kind enough to circulate what Panji said during that interview and he basically stated his opinion on national matters and that is his entitlement! Panji is just giving timely warning to our leaders, you cannot foreever rule through deception like what the state media is trying to do by painting RB in snow whilst his opponent are called all sorts of names!

  51. # 37, Senior Citizen.

How did you know about the connections of the late Major Wezi Kaunda.? You seem to have vital information leading to the mystery of his Death. No wonder he is no more because of your fear of the unknown.

  52. Those who are saying Punch is right here is a scenario. A football team with 11 players playing a matches and he is attempting to score for the opponents. Definately the coach will substitute him or he can be disaband from the team because that is not the spirit of team work. Voting is secret if Panji had the feeling that Sata is winning the erection pardon election this year he should keep it to his heart and cast his vote on PF. Such statements defeats the spirit of team work and having the same goal. HH is right if a member feels he cannot not identify himself with his grouping he is free to leave.

  53. POLITICAL THINK TANK, Which blood and by who? may be william Banda and the Thugs……….Bwabwabwa in the stomach for those who are afraid of nothing. PF is a group of employeed people in offices and classroom recruiting each other in silence without noise and fear. Abragada bra… Catch us if you can. Donchi Kubeba…………….doo.nchi…Kubbeba

  54. Shi Philipo walasa, even a Rotten Baked Bun (RBB) can be smeared with white cream for children to eat but the inside is ‘who knows the inside is the voter” ba mukoloooooooo

  55. #48, I like your contribution. However, u shud know that we belong to parties and if we do not agree with our parties, we are free to move on. It is not true that because am UPND then I agree with everything to do with UPND, no. The honourable thing is to belong to a party that largely meets your aspirations and if, for example, u are given a candidate who is weaker than another from another party, u can vote for the better candidate without spoiling the trust and respect u have for your party. This is about democracy, if majority in yo party go far a decision u don’t agree with, they win. Don’t do it in such a way that u begin to demean ur own party. A common denominator may not be solved by the most popular candidate in an election and for us, PF has not demonstrated that at all…

  56. The issue here is discipline bane! If you have indisciplined members in the team no matter how strong you are you will fail. Why didn’t Panji follow his party structure to inform HH that Sata was a better candidate? Sure? Is that the way to support your opponents? You can imagine you work for Pepsi and you tell consumers that Coca Cola is better and you expect to continue working for Pepsi?

  57. #58 iwe zealot wa ku Lundazi….
I was responding to someone advocating for violence if SATA does not win…….thus i said There will be NO BLOOD SHED this year…..because SATA is not wining……only when SATA wins because he is a lie and violent person will there be violence…..because people will be expecting 90 days miracles and will not happen……if he reduces taxes and increase salaries and expenditure…..the econo,ic principle states that….without expanding business where govt earns taxes…..u will increase inflation rate….reduce the value of the currency(ZMK), …increase poverty….then disinvestment will occur because interest rates will go back to 68% as in the time of chiluba……then will start fire fighting….over borrowing to window dress so that we cheat pipo.

  58. #62 Cont……
This will lead to economic decline like we witnessed during chiluba’s rule. Thats why us who saw our once very strong labour based economy go down to the dogs…..dues to not well thought policies….will NOT stand and see this economy get back on its clutches……if we are not 4given debt…..u could have felt how bad this economy had become…..Thanks to the Jubilee 2000 spear headed by catholics

  59. When PF rebells were being chased from PF for supporting NCC,Sata and his minions started to talk ill and some people started to say discipline shud be there in PF so we in UPND are saying let him surrender himself before a disciplinaly committee he is not above anyone,no one in zambia is more zambian, some of you from north you seem to be more superior than other tribes shame on tribalist let real pipo led us,one zambia one nation, one UPND,HH mulilo panji you have failed to mobilise your team go in eastern province and work hard for UPND not with post rubbish always what are you getting

  60. Clear that HH has failed to rise to the top of the leadership pyramid in Zambia by being stuck to political styles that are out of tune of politicking in Zambia. He has let Sata take the lead in causing anguish to the MMD. This has been an opportunity to barnish Sata to the back by always hitting hard at the MMD and its thieving leaders. Instead, it appears that HH has become soft perhaps due to his business interests. He should have thrown caution to the wind inorder to displace Sata in the brains and hearts of Zambians. Gentle politics do not win votes in Zambia as seen from way back in the Chacha days to present. Only noisy guys make it to the top. LPM had Kadoli make noise for him, including of course the rigging.

  61. Please note that Panji has a democratic right to say what he wants to say. Please also nte that HH was appointed to that office by MRS …… and has never been chosen by a convention at all. So the idea that Panji should be disciplined smacks of IGNORANCE WHICH IS NOT REQUIRED IN A THIS AGE. LONG LIVE PANJI. PLEASE SPEAK YOUR MIND FREELY

  62. The UPND should let go of their neoliberal ideology, and join the PF. That is the only way forward. Leave neoliberal (neocolonial) corruption to the MMD, and join the 21st century.

I am torn because a PF without the UPND is more ideologically pure, but with the UPND, victory is almost guaranteed.

People who want the country to move forward and start working for the people instead of foreign capital should put their heads together.

  63. It is time for tact in UPND if it is to deliver anything this year. They need cool heads to strategize & continuously stick to their promise of telling people loud & clear why they should vote for them – Not getting swayed by side issues until all we hear are the side issues – a sure way of risking a split in the party & you don’t want that at this stage.

  64. No wonder PF loses. I just took time to see the supporters of PF on this LT and have noticed that the Majority of them are sons and daughters of plunderers living abroad who are not even registered voters. The is a big problem with PF supporters. Its either they are in Zambia and not registered voters or are sons of plunderers abroad who are not registered. So how can Sata Really win an election. VIVA HH.

  65. Recycled, recycled, recycled, learnt Zambians open ur eyes. Those born after 1965 know what i mean, some of these guys have been there from the word go[after independence]and even in the systems,my blood runs cold, wake up fellow zambians,i can assure u this country will go back 42 yrs, look @ America, look @ Britain,ma leaders niba fana,oh god help ZED

  66. HH has every right to reject to be vice to Sata, simple logic HH had no idea what was Sata’s agenda or at least did want to reconcile anything.

  67. Recycled, recycled, recycled, learnt Zambians open ur eyes and ears.

  68. SATA ADMITS AGE’S CATCHING UP WITH HIM

    By Times Reporter

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Michael Sata has said age is fast catching up with his political future and urged the youth of Zambia to prepare for a take-over.

Mr Sata said PF vice-president Guy Scott and he had become too old and said the country should be left in the hands of the younger generation because it was clear that he had become too old to continue in politics.

Addressing his supporters in Mandevu Constituency in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Sata said younger people should turn up in numbers to vote in this year’s presidential and general elections.

He revealed that he had to go to Manedvu to assess the extent of damage caused by campaigns that had been staged by Lusaka Province MMD chairperson, William Banda.

  69. Maybe its about time PANJI took over. Sata is playing an exit strategy. I cannot see Guy Scot and Wynter Kabinda heading PF.

I expect PF Supporters to twist this story. The man said it

    Its’ Dead End….

  70. #85 what u are saying has sense.
PANJI is an opportunist. He has seem Leadership development gap in PF. If SATA dies from his heart complications who would take over. Winter is a joker….guy scott tho from Mpika tribalists will not allow him to be PF president……..next….panji is setting in after SATA….then the end of PF…..

  71. In 2016 HH won’t be young anymore he would be past his prime so UPND you need to work your bloody socks off this year or never. We’re already tired of hearing his name which sounds like some kind of influenza virus.

  72. Isn’t this what they call double standards? Clive Chirwa said exactly the same he got away with a slap on the wrists but knives are out for the old farmer because he doesn’t have millions of pounds to splash out.
The good thing though is that Panji will always move with a good number of voters, therefore, we welcome him with open arms.
I only hope Nawakwi is playing her cards well, I have a feeling 2016 would be her time but she needs to join the winning team now. As for HH he should try to run for Choma mayorship next time, he’s just big headed for nothing mambala lyakwe…

  73. if u can’t beat them join them. upnd needs a 360 degree change over, they can’t just win in their present state. they should just think of adopting clive chirwa.i think he is marketable.

  74. Chirwa only made a suggestion, Panji outrightly endorsed Sata and his reason was really childish…’my mathematics tells me bla bla’.More intelligent people quote surveys etc not mathematics from the head. Does he have any brains? I hope UPND expell him quickly befopre he destroys their, well reputation.

  75. 84 Samungunde Mbunda Kalenga greetings, on your “Mr Sata said PF vice-president Guy Scott and he had become too old and said the country should be left in the hands of the younger generation because it was clear that he had become too old to continue in politics” reported by Times of Zambia, it is good that Mr serpent Sata MC is trying to leave politics and PF to Wynter Kabimba, whom he has been grooming in the time of the PACT, by avoiding to be humiliated in the 2011 elections.

I hope PF’s Sata MC lives long to see his dwindling support from the 9% Bembas by tribe and the other 36% Bemba by speech people especially now in the 2011 elections when UPND’s HH may perform better than he did in all past national presidential elections.

Be blest all and vote for HH…

  76. #90 Cool
This is Panji you talking about, he’s not that lone ranger lunatic Chizhyuka you hounded out without repercussions. You chase this one like a dog, you kiss goodbye to his sympathisers as well- and they are many. This is not what you need when your fortunes are shrinking at an alarming rate, you need all your big hitters around you not scroungers like Kalusa and Mweetwa whose brains migrated to their stomachs long time ago. If i were political leader, between Clive Chirwa and Panji i would take the latter all day long unless my head was as puffed as badala HH.

  77. #91. I do not beleive in politics of individuals. If Panji had your so called sympathisers how come he is languishing out there? Mr Sata should actually be worried to receive support from such a failure. KK has a lot of respect for his children except Panji….

  78. The only sensible thing to do would be for Col. Panji to resign from UPND and join PF. He has every democratic right to belong to any party he wishes, but it will be politically immoral to have one leg stooped in UPND and the other in PF. Double Tobela, come to think of it. I think we dont do things like that. Let Panji cross over, he wont lose anything, unless he is doubting his mathematics again.

  79. So Panji has joined the Homosexual campaign, rgiht?
People with homosexual tendencies are teaming up now.
    What a shame!!

  80. Viva Panji. Zambia needs men and women of integrity. Call a folk a folk. If one does not agree with your reasoning, it doesn’t call for you to discipline them. Only poor leaders act in that way. A fact will always remain a fact.

  81. Clearly there is a lot of immaturity in Zambian politics. How do you openly tell a heavyweight member such as Panji to scram from your party and join PF. Aren’t you supposed to go talk to him in private so as to convince him to retract his statement?. As it is HH is shooing Panji into the PF’s hands and thereby losing a constituency of followers. HH should stop acting as if he has already won the elections. He will regret his actions.

  82. Sata in response to a question about the money from Taiwan for PF campaigning.

I eat , I chew, I have cars that need fuel.
    he he he he
Not one iota of truth on how he spent $30 million in Taiwan funds so easily and yet still looks like a pauper.
$100,000 on cars spent easily so mudala is not shy on spending it.

  83. LETS FACE IT,SATA IS THE BEST CANDIDATE.THOSE WHO ARE ADVOCATING FOR NOVICES LIKE HH HAVE LOST THEIR MINDS OR HAVE NO HAVE NO POWER TO ANYLYSE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES FOR MOTHER ZAMBIA.BEING A BUSINESSMAN DOES NOT MEAN ONE IS A LEADER!!LEADERS ARE BORN AND NOT BOUGHT BY MONEY!IF HH WAS A LEADER HE WOULD HAVE FORMED HIS OWN PART AND NOT TAKE OVER UPND THROUGH THE BACKDOOR! ZAMBIA IS NOT A KANTEMBA FOR INDIVIDUALS TO EXHIBIT THEIR BUSINESS SKILLS!! WHERE WAS HH WHEN SATA CLEANED UTH,BUILT KABWATA,CLEANED LUSAKA STREETS,ETC,ETC MULETASHA!!

  84. HH busy yaping and attacking Sata while Sata is busy campaigning. Did you see his rally in Mandevu. Mind you unlike 2008 and before the multitude seen are now registered voters. Chifire, Lifwekelo, Chanda Chimba, Mumbi are just lifting up Sata. Their smear will only be accepted by MMD joined by UPND. They have no impact. They should rather change their tactics like pointing at RB and MMD have done.

  85. Col.Panji we are please with what you are doing ,please try to extend your voice to northern ,central ,western ,southern ,luapula and north western provinces by advocating the people”s pact.NGOs please join in finincially for col panji s call .Proffesor chirwa where are you , please join in panji s call ,Proffesor hansengule please we need you input ,Professor Nduna in the USA please we need your input your country need change from distraction by the current regime .please ,please our learned people from the diaspora we are on our knees povide input in the failure of the pact .Proffesor chirwa did a lot of input but to our surprise you have all kept quite. Its our country of our children, children s childrens and children s children please ,please please lets join Col panji to insure…

  86. Tongas are in the state of denial. You can’t believe what Col. Panji and prof. Tembo, Mpombo and other are telling you. HH is dead and the down-fall was caused by Mwaanga, Munkombwe and all the Southern Province chiefs who want to rich themselves at the expense of national development. Sata is on the way to plot one this year. You are the losers and HH is now at the end of his political career .

  87. Panji Kaunda is aged over 16 years old and therefore an adult like most of us. First lets stop associating with his father, super Ken, as he is also a father. Second he is entitled like all of us to his own opinion.

  88. You dont know who is at the end of their political life…..? It is SATA not HH. SATA, this is his last elections….!!!!!

  89. When KK was in power for almost three decades, Panji should have taken this opportunity to advance his education at prestigious schools like Harvard or Yale, this time he coulds have been sitting pretty and if he really wanted to assist poor Zambians, as he thinks now, he would have opted for fields like Medicine and offer something to the “sickly” masses for free. People would have at least seen him as sane.

  90. Col Panji Kaunda is very right in his observation. Ignore his advice at your own peril. What the Col. is advocating is what is obtaining on the ground. The man is wise. Here its not about academic excellence that matters but wisdom. One can be an accomplished academician and still be a fool.Wisdom is God given.HH listen to the wise poeple. If you are to rule Zambia humble yourself mudala. You could have put your self in the right position by being vice the old man Sata their after aspire for presisedncy.Look at the Liberal democrats of the UK they have always been third despite being lead by and accomplished academicians. Good things come to those who wait. If I were you I could heed Prof Chirw’as proposal and Col. Kaunda’s advisce. You can not ignore Sata’s political strength.

  91. You can’t talk of being very educated at the same time talk of bieng side line on the basis of being Tonga or whatever in this era. Tribes no longer count today in Zambia as we have intermarried. What counts is wisdom and being young or an excellent academician but wisdom.Unless you are wise you can never be a leader. Sata has proved ato be a leader as he started his PF from without to where it is today. He never inherited a near popular party, like upnd.I know some people will call me names, biut this is true.If HH wants to rule Zambia don’t spoil this chance otherwise soon you will be history. Sata has been in politics for a long time and hence is able to read the writtings on the wall. Those who condemn the man are only afraid of the misery to befall them once the cobra is in power.
