Help the poor appeals First Lady Christine Kaseba

Share

First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba

FIRST Lady Christine Kaseba has said it is devastating and unbelievable to hear of some people burying huge sums of money in the ground while many Zambians wallow in poverty.

The first lady said there were a lot of people struggling for meals and paying school fees and yet others were buried their money instead of assisting those in need and to help alleviate poverty in the country.

Speaking when she received a donation of 1,000 assorted blankets from former MMD deputy health minister Chilufya Kazenene at State House yesterday, Dr Kaseba said there were many wealth people in society, who did not bother to spare part of their wealth to make a difference in the lives of those who were destitute. “Please stop burying money and donate to those who struggle to find food and to pay school fees etc,” she said.

She commended Mr Kazenene and his family for thinking about the needy in society even after having left public office, saying leadership was not only about being a minister or government official but playing a role in society and making a difference. The first lady said the gesture demonstrated the Christian expectation of giving to the poor.

“I urge all those who are privileged in one way or another to think of that little girl struggling to raise school fees for her education, to think about that old lady who is not sure where the next meal will come from to feed her orphaned grandchildren and many others who are in a state of deprivation through no fault of their making at all,” Dr Kaseba said.

Dr Kaseba said the culture of community services was a way of giving back to society and should be encouraged so that people’s lives could be touched and hope restored to the helpless and poor. She pledged to use her skills to support community health needs especially for women and children who bore the biggest brunt in shouldering the various social – economic challenges.

And Mr Kazenene said his family found it helpful to donate to the office of the First Lady because they were sure that as a ‘mother’ of the nation, she needed such donations. Mr Kazenene said the president and his family needed support from the private sector if they were to deliver to the nation and called on other people to ensure that they supported the first family in order for it to deliver.

  1. Were those blankets left over, of MOH STOCK, that this guy was handing out, thus cleverly getting rid of them before someone finds him with the contraband. MOH please do your stock-take, then exculpate the guy, hopefully he is doing it from down deep his heart!!!
Nsha ponte sana, will wait to hear more!!!!

  2. EVEN YOUR HUSBAND USED TO CARRY SACKS OF MONEY IN EXCESS OF K2BILLION – TEN YEARS AGO AND IT WAS NORMAL . HE EVEN KILLED PAUL TEMBO PLEASE GET LESSONS ON HOW TO DRESS FROM TANDIWE YOU OLD THING!

    • Efinshi ifyo naimwe, mwalikwata icikonko? If you said maureen mwanawasa or mrs obama.i was going to agree with you nga ni ba Tandiwe awiii. And by the way you can be a witness in the Tembo case.umulandu taubola so you even know the one who killed Tembo all along and you have been quiet, too bad.

    • Yaba Thandiwe knowing how to dress, finshi mulefwaya ukulanda, nokusamba tasamba alenuka akanunka mbwa..niwe wamulile ichi sungu mwa?

  3. Aren’t these blankets left overs from MMD campaign materials? And why give to the First Lady and not a church or NGO? Ba First Lady be careful whom you are receiving donations from.

  4. Bling bling material is a big no no, and that hat belong to the boring British monarchy. Create your own African dressing and not these copy cat items.

  5. KAZENENE FINALLY HAND OVER STOLEN BLANKETS FROM MOH OR IS IT PRT OF THE BENNEFIT AFTER SELLING KALUMBILA MINES TO FQMZ IN LUMWANA.THE FIRST LADY’S DRESSING IS OKAY WHAT IS WRONG IS THE COLOUR OF THE DRESS ATLEAST A BETTER COLOUR (SUCH COLOUR ARE COMMON TO KASAI IN DRC)

  6. Ba Chilufya Kazenene is a JOB seeker or looking for some simpathy from PF. Ba PF please avoid such Characters or else you will also have more explaination to do than MMD. This man’s nationality is actually quetionable.

  7. The first lady MUST look presentable. I dont think there is anything wrong with her attire. After all, its her own class. remember she cant satisfy every buddy, but if the King Kobra is happy; which I think he is, who are we to condemn? lets give Dr K. a break ba Mambala imwe!!!

  8. #6 muletekanya,if you were summoned to be witness in the killing of Tembo what would you say,and umupupu nipakuboko who saw were the husband was carrying money in sucks? And over the dressing tafimbwa lubilo wait and see.

  9. You guys don’t have eyes! Don’t you see that this photo was at the opening of Parliament? Dressing, dressing, kwati imwe mwalishiba ukufwala?

  10. FTJ reign revisited? Donations should not be made to State House. The President and the First Lady should not be compromised. The Kazenenes could have donated the blankets to UTH directly if they really cared for the poor. For 1,000 blankets they have advertised themselves to the whole country and beyond. Clever lot.

  11. Is Dr. Kaseba the wife to president Sata or partner? She is supposed to be mrs Sata is she? Is she the mother to young Sata driving a posh car from a tatty one? I knew Chritine Kaseba just a few years back training as a medical doctor hope not mixing names because she was quite young and Mr Sata was already quite old then. If she is then better know her as mrs Sata.

  12. This second lady must keep out of politics. We do not want to be irritated by someone we cannot criticise. Someone tell her to concetrate on nursing her sick husband. It is her husband we are after, because he is our president. She is of little significance to us. If she wants respect, she should keep out of politics. She has no right to judge anybody when Alexander ‘chikamba’ Chikwanda is presently renovating her State House home, when he is a Cabinet Minister. And yes, it is true that Sata himself used to carry sackloads of Kwacha, like Liato. What Liato has done is not new – unless you are younger than 2 years or have been a foreigner since you were born. Let us criticise where it makes sense, but nonone is clean here. Still it doesn’t make Liato’s act right. Let’s be fair…

  13. Iwe Muna. Doctors don`t adopt other people`s names even when they get married. I thought you knew that or you just want to invite comments to read other peoples thinking.

  14. Dr C. Kaseba does the Cobra manage with his expired vernom now? U seem to be full of energy iam sure Cobra can’t make it. namwishiba efyo ndelandapo don’t pretend kwati tamumfwile??? U organise your workmates to donate blankets so that SATA can promote them?

  15. Sanchez. Waba a-k-a b-w-a-m-b-a ubunono. Your RB had a 30 year old, he is 74, did he ever touch the erm erm erm G-s-p-o-t? Go and fid-dle with your sister chik—amba ch-o-be. Ama ta-l-l lay uku-n-u-nka!

  16. No. 19. From what I know, female medical doctors do not change their identity. What is wrong with Dr. Kaseba maintaining her name although she is legally married to the President. infact she is not the only one that I know of. Doctors like Professor Luo and Rosemary Kumwenda (Mrs. Chirwa) are maintaning their names although the Professor is now divorced.

  17. Isn’t her comment prejudicing the case if there is one against Liato? I may have missed something but has it been proven beyond reasonable doubt that the money in question was fraudulently obtained? Surely when a case is pending the wife of the head of state should not make any comment on it whatsoever? As for her dressing, what do you expect from a woman who as far as I know voluntarily married Chilufyana? Isn’t it obvious that there is something wrong with her eyes and perhaps that is why she never saw the 2 billion Kwacha her husband was carrying in suitcases.

  18. I wonder if Bishop Mpundu’s sisters will also be making comments on the political developments in the country soon? I wonder if they are sitting on one of the many commissions of enquiry?

  19. Please Give credit where it is due. In as much as the first lady represents the majority of Zambian, i believe she can not dress to the pleasure of you all. I believe, even you, today, you may have received zero compliment over your dressing today, yesterday or even the past month.
As for me green is my favorite color. It means the following :
    1. Revival
    2. Life
    3. Regeneration.
i was happy to see her that attire.

  20. Thank you for your big heart Kazenene. That is how it should be. But I also happen to know of your friends and relatives who have been snubbed by you each time they have approached you for assistance. I wonder how they will view this. Still on the same issue, remember what the good book says; when you give with the right hand, make sure the left hand does not know. Next time, make a quiete donation, to the exclusion of the media. Otherwise, thanks again on behalf of my fellow poor mortals.

  21. You ignorant people! A highly educated, accomplished, mature and dignified woman is your First Lady. Leading by example, she is a role model to every child who has no education, security or hope for the future, that she too can be bigger than a wife, a amother or a professional, but that she can do it all.
She’s a woman of a different generation and at least she dresses appropriately for her age. Please don’t insult her by comparing her to Thandiwe- a young woman who dressed like Mama Betty! She has not been commenting out of place- in this issue or any other. The comment was a passing remark at best, not a political statement. Why must you Zambians be such haters? Concentrate on improving your own life and leave the woman who has achieved more than you have alone!!!!

  22. Kazenex abisa chayai mambala those blankets wait and see, is this not because of his friend Liato mambala had to cover up before the sun sets on him andiwone andiwoneSata smoke them out of their MMD caves

  23. Kazenene should also produce the receipts and we should verify with the shop where he bought the blankets, this is indeed disposing off the MMD campaign materials in a clever manner, a commisssion of inquiry must be set up to look into this “donation”. It it was a genuine donation, it should have been taken to UTH. I smell a big stinking rat…………

  24. well I have a problem with donations which go to state House or come from there. we have a lot of places, institutions, Churchs and NGOs which are better placed for this. Like one of the bloggers has put it what if two months down the road it is discovered these were stolen and there is need to have them back as part of the evidence in courts of law. I hope next time they ask for a receipt and the shop should be known where these have come from, payments made to the shop via check or transfer from the bank account known.

  25. It will not help you guys. The beautiful First lady is right and correct to comment on Liato’s hiding the money in the ground. Liato is a thief, cruel man, useless and selfish man who should not be defended. We know that you want to defend him but it will not work in that soon he will be in jail. useless people..fusekehhhhh.

  26. Kabolala nikabolala! The first lady looks beautiful. Far much better than chi Thandi chi Primary school teacher!

  27. Good comment, I hope the 100 plus billion declared by HE- MCS will filter down to the poor through the first lady. How about selling the seven guns since you now have 24hours security? The proceeds can be donated to Mafinga new boma or indeed any district!

  28. It is a free country let a man do what he wants with his money (If it is his money) if the man wants to eat it alone then let him do so, if the man wants to bury it then let it be do. You do not force people to give arms just make an appeal. The best you can do is advise your husband to run the affairs in such a prudent manner that it will be possible for people to be in employment so they can send that little girl to school and that old lady might have a decent pension.

  29. #32 Disappointed in Y’all — speak for yourself. If your children do not have role models, it doesn’t mean that other people have similar crises in their homes. My children have their own role models and they do not have to look to a politician, or a woman who is saying things just to please her supporters. The lady I’m sure is a role model to your children, may be because you know her, which is fine; but not to the whole country. Let us stop living in fantasy island, becaue just 5 years from now it will be a different story. And PLEASE can someone stop this nonsense of calling every president’s wife the mother of the nation! It is very insulting to intelligent people. If someone needs an extra mother who doesn’t even know them, that is their problem. But I certainly have a mother.

    • Why oh why must we always take things to such a personal extreme??? You are a lucky person indeed to have strong children who you have guided through life and given them a chance to know and appreciate strong people. And the poor child in Nakonde whose mother is a prostitute so she can give her kids beans and nshima once a day but still walks to school everday cause they want better for themselves? or the miner’s child whose father died in the pits and the mother scavenges for their survival. they don’t want to make it to finish school?
If God has blessed you and yours with more, don’t look down or deride those who only have the people they see in the newspapers and on tv to give them an idea of what life can be. Which is why its so important that we all avoid needless negativity…

  30. Mr Kazenene is a successful business man from Chingola and has children in the US and UK, he probably could afford those blankets. The man owns a mine!

  31. For your information Mr kAZENENE left govt a long time ago. check your facts before you comment. He is one of the succesful businessmen in chingola infact better than the coloured Kazala. Jelous down the man is above board.

  32. At least we have a very proud mature woman in State House and not a ka sweet 16 year old sugar “grand”daddy’s love toy. I can now look forward to Week in Pictures on LT!!

  33. AT LAST WE HAVE A FIRST LADY AFTER ALMOST 3 YEARS OF STRUGGLING FOR ONE. I LOVE ZAMBIA’S FIRST LADY. SHE IS OUR PRIDE EVEN WHEN SHE GOES OUT TO REPRESENT OUR COUNTRY ON INTERNATIONAL LEVEL, WE WILL NEVER BE LET DOWN.

DEAR MOM CRISTINE, YOU ARE REALLY THERE TO DELIVER TO THE NATION, AS WE KNOW KNOW YOU, ALWAYS A PILLAR. SO BE ONE TO OUR PRESIDENT AND THE COUNTRY AT LARGE AS WE GO THROUGH THESE MOMENTS OF PRESSURE. WE LOVE YOU.

  34. Madam, that money was planted on Liato by shushushus, do not comment on matters that are not yet fully investigated. can you not just receive the blankets sure, kanofye mwa bwata?

  35. HAHAHAHAH But Zambian are still living in the dark age…she is Dr kaseba because she is a PHd holder and does not need to change her name to SATA VIVA DR KASEBA…

  36. Double Standards Africans are suckers, Sata and his wife cared less for the poor pointing at Liato and making themselves look like angels is wrong,Many of the people in PF have stolen and are hiding stuff just like Liato.Politicians are nothing but smart Criminals it doesn’t matter which Party they belong to.

  37. Madam first lady …why dont you start by explaining how your family has suddenly become rich and run half the bars along chilumbulu rd… where did ur sister sally kaseba yamba and her husband fred yamba who has just been appointed national treasury secretary get all the wealth from..Can u explain that before u start making tu ma smart remarks…remember those who kill by the sword will die by the sword…Can we see yambas resume?…all i knw is that he moved to ministry of finance, from being sally’s commerce teacher at Kamwala (was an illegal move, pregnanting a student).Dont forget ur husband was in goverment then…not sure which party since he has been in all…and was mp for Kabwata…hence u acquiring all those plots where u bars sit today..

  38. Fred Yamba becomes treasury secretary a week after ur husband becomes president? Who do u think u are fooling..how much does he make to affod brand new super 16 birthday cars for his daughter..Isnt that part Tax payers money…why are u trying to make zambians stupid…

  39. Fellow countrymen…can someone explain to me how GBM got his job as defence minister? the last I checked he was part of the mbala mafia supplying beans…at ministry of defence where he was the biggest supplier and now defence minister…what a joke!!!! he is signing the cheques himself???? the guy looks like a pig with obesity..no sense of personal fittnes..how do u lead th e military when ur ass cant even run a mile…plz stop these stupid games..this is 2011..and yes she was his wife when he carried the cases frm state hse…she had graduated from being concubine around 1988, which she over thru bana Mulenga (joe) a humble head teacher…

  40. i think this govt is jst as usless as the previous one.. they are al pretenders! power hungry thats all.. if yhe president didnt have certain people around him he would be alright.:)>-
