What actually transpired in Gaborone on 20 March 2012 when president Michael Sata met Zambians living in Botswana

Share

President Sata makes a speech during the International Women's Day in Lusaka
President Sata

By Zambian in Botswana

18 :30. Arrival of the president Michael Sata and his entourage

18 :35. National anthem chaired by ZACOBO (Zambian Community in Botswana)

18: 40. Speech by Ambassador to Botswana, within seconds Sata interrupts and says how do you deliver a speech before praying when you are a son of a Bishop? Bishop prays

18: 50. Speech by chairman of ZACOBO amongst other things mentions PF and UPND having walked out of parliament in order to ensure that the constitution was not passed during RBs days and also complains of Kaponyas at Kazungula Border and all bus stations. He also said all buildings need painting in Lusaka and then invites the President ( This speech might have made the politicians upset)

19 :00. Given Lubinda (Minister of Information) steps in before Sata and could be vividly seen that he was very upset with the ZACOBO Chairmans speech about the walking out of PF from parliament.Lubinda then said PF did so because of the difference they had in principles hence people should get facts correct before making statements- because ‘some of you are MMD Cadres’. He also asked the Zambians what investments they have made in Zambia and how much do they send every month to their relatives back home? He then invited the President – King Cobra
[pullquote]why should I be worried about you people who ran away from Zambia when my people in Sesheke are not complaining about Kazungula border[/pullquote]

19:05. Sata- In 1970, I was the first Zambian expatriate in United Kingdom and not Botswana so don’t think it’s a great achievement to work in Botswana, can I have questions now.

1910 Questions- whats the status of the Dual citizenship?

Sata: Which town are you from? Monze? Do you want to belong to Monze and Namwala? Because RB was from Gwanda in Zimbabwe that’s why he wanted Dual citizenship

Question: it is difficult for us living in Diaspora to get land back home, what is the Government doing about it?

Sata: What are you doing in Botswana?

Answer: I am a teacher!

Sata: Go back to Zambia and teach your relatives then you will get Land

Question: Mr President, you never consulted on the Ithezhi tezhi and Chirundu districts

Sata: Whom did you consult to come to Botswana?

19: 25 Concluding remarks- President Sata

All of you who are here with fake questions am very disappointed with you and embarrassed, are you not even ashamed of yourselves? You ran away from Zambia and thought we couldn’t find you and now today we have caught you. You are refugees in Botswana being exploited by the Botswana Government. You left Zambia to come and work here for an extra K1?

Teachers

You are busy educating Tswanas leaving your own relatives in Zambia uneducated and you are proud? All of you were educated by your parents who never even finished standard 7 and struggled to educate you and you run away from them?

Doctors

Your relatives are dying in Zambia and you are busy saving tswana lives?

Accountants

Botswana has only 5 shops and you call your self an accountant when Diamond mines want a consultant they will call a South African and not a Zambian, what are you still doing here?

Enginneers

There are no potholes in Botswana and President Khama has told me that Zambian Engineers designed the roads, when you go to Petauke and Katete there are so many potholes where the same engineers come from. Are you not ashamed of yourselves? Some of your relatives in the villages have never seen a tarred road and you are busy designing Botswana roads? No patriotism at all

Other professionals, Doctors, Professors etc

When I choose Grade 2 ministers, you complain some of you qualify to be MPs and others Counsilors why don’t you go back to Zambia? I struggled for 10 yrs, you will also struggle to settle but once you have determination you will make it.

We have about 2000 Zambians in Botswana but tonight only 100 have attended the meeting, imagine how Zambia was going to be developed if all of you built mansions in your villages but you are all crying for Land in Lusaka, you will never get it unless you go to Zambia, you even boast about diaspora what is that? Remain there in Diaspora, you went to Diaspora with nothing and you will go back to Zambia with nothing.

You complain that it takes you 3 hrs at Kazungula border I wish you take 4 years there why should I be worried about you people who ran away from Zambia when my people in Sesheke are not complaining about Kazungula border, I will tell the headmen to build more boats for ferrying you and not a bridge so that you spend longer hours and days!

Act now because tomorrow will be too late or never comes. If you delay I will employ Chinese and Pakistanis and when you decide to go back to Zambia at your own time, the people who were in Grade 1 when you were at UNZA will be your bosses!

I came to Botswana to officiate a school which is inferior to our own St Marys!

Anyway I came here just to Greet you, Bishop can you pray we go

19: 29 Meeting closed.

  1. If those were the answers our president gave, we are in trouble pure dictator and Mr know it all

  2. oh my word! This certainly is not presidential material. How can you insult Zambians like that.So because Kazungula border is not in Sesheke you aren’t bothered? Indeed you are a president only for the bembas and/or Kaponyas. How sad.All the work KK did to unite Zambia and you wreck it just like that.Don’t you know Zambians abroad send lots of money home just get stats from Western Union.Next election I’m certainly flying home to vote.just don’t change the rules. We are voting you out.

    • separate factual sense from hearsay. People in diaspora have no right to demand anything from zambias or government. Look at the country you are living in and who helps to develop the country. we want to freely given, so we should also freely given back. I agree with what he said.

    • I thought this was supposed to be a President !! We are the ones who are embarrased , Mr. President !! You are embarrasing us !! Your utterances are unbelievable, sir. Take a chill pill and get advice before you speak again !

  3. Sounds like the Sata I know. Don’t take him seriously and literary. Please PF somebody find a quality speech writer for our president and save us from these beer hall conversations please.

  4. Ukwa…Ukwa…Ukwa ..Ukwa..should learn to have respect!!!be sober in whatever you do..how do you just change positions like that?of all place why Monze & Namwala..you keep dreaming about SP..!!hahaha

  5. Zambia is paying big from the curse of hating rational actors God blessed us with only to risk with a modern Pharaoh.

    • I don’t see what was wrong with that. While your own relatives are dying you are busy saving Tswana lives, who will attend to your relatives?

    • The Presidents trip to India was to have a medical check-up. He is ashamed to that in RSA because of his nasty mouth. He knows that the medical people who will most likely attend to him are Zambians.

  6. This is a Chinama confinement room speech with every evidence of an ignoramus mind driven by indignation.

  7. presdent you are rite wat are you doing in bots green pastures you be just poor bullding the country which is not yours shame to you zambians in bots at list we can donate to ophans here in zambia and you greed ones

  8. I wonder those who work close to him cope with such answers especially advisor they might just get the same kind of answers……

  9. This is unbelievable, our president conduting himself in such an undiginified way. I think this is a sample of what takes place in their cabinet meetings, if ever they have any.

  10. I feel sorry for mother Zambia. This president is not only an embarrassment to Zambia but to Africa as whole. I have never head of a head of state with such a low IQ. He not only insulted his fellow countrymen but his hosts too. It can only get worse from here…..i will be praying for Zed.

  11. Say what you may but the president has a point on people leaving abroad and being patriotic to the country.. many specialist and experts leave abroad and Zambia finds it hard to to use such personnel because there are too few if not non… i think many people should be more patriotic about the country if we are to literally move forward

sata may not know how to dialogue but one fact is, we need people who are learned to return and make a contribution and not jus critise that people in power don’t have qualifications

    • People (even Zambians) have a right to peruse happiness. If that happiness happens to be in another country, then by all means. This is why we have passports, visas, embassies and High Commissions.
Once people have acquired the necessary skills, money and experience, they may return to build a better Zambia.
The one thing we should not do is condemn people who have left, or those who have stayed.
We all deserve to be free to work where we can and still love Zambia.

  12. #1 and if those were the only questions the diaspora pipo had for the presido, then there’s a very BIG ?mark amongst Zambian intellectuals. What is so special about Ithezhi tezhi and Chirundu districts which is not in the case of districys which have been realigned? And did Malaysia implement ‘dual’ citizenship in order to develop to those heights while Ghana, did? Malaysia just bought a few seeds of palm and the rest is history.

  13. What can I say? Sata has strange ways of putting his point. Chamba cikali kusebenza namuucembele. The dictator in him is now coming out slowly but surely. My little advice is that when he is meeting Zambians outside the country, he shoulld be allowed to speak in Bemba. The simple reason is that he can’t speak English. Sata is exactly like every typical Bemba, no matter how educated they just can’t speak English without pushing a Bemba word into the sentence because they just don’t know English. In other countries, Sata would be impeached for having an unstable mind – even before he finishes his first term.

    • yes 95% true even 99% true – what I like about our president is that he has no room for pretence – he calls a spade a spade not knife – zambia we are so passive hiding in some kind of domance – we need a push – hard one in fact – sata is a right person we have at this time – we ve been docile for so long – drinking kacasu morning afternoon evening monday to sunday – wake up zambians and move with the president – our president realy mean business

  14. I love Mick! Funniest president award. A combination of comic truth and emotionally imbalanced howlers. All of them need speech writers, diplomacy and training how to stay on message. However, can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Won’t lose any sleep over this. At least we introduced Zambian comedy to a new audience. Shame.

  15. By the time Sata leaves PF presidentship Given Lubinda will be left with nothing to describe himself by in the way of integrity. He has just become too much of a cadre. He is not even clever enough to have known the nature of his boss up to now, after many years of working with him. I can see PF dying when Sata leaves.

  16. We need to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the matter with immediate effect. Surely, you guys expected better from this man?! Donchi Kudabwa! NAREP all the way! We may be few but we make sense and have a heart for the people!

  17. When HH likened our president to Ukwa, I had no clue what he meant? so I googled it and found the clips of the Nigerian ‘comedic actor’ on YouTube. For once in my life, I agree with HH; Ukwa is in charge.

  18. Diaspora people should be more concerned about such issues as, Not being treated as Zambians in Zambia, The plight of our children who are not recognised as Zambians when they have a mixture of two parental nationalities- one Zambian and the other from a different country. They should also be concerned about the time developmental projects stated in PF Manifesto will commence. They should also be concerned about the high levels of corruption in Zambia which affects the process of doing business in Zambia, etc. Not dual citizenship as if it is the silver bullet for Zambia’s poverty and underdevelopment. Well, stupid questions invited ‘stupid’ answer if at all the answers were.

  19. This is only six months… 4 years 6months to go. People will understand why some of us were so much against Sat going to plot one. This is just the beginning…

  20. I think it’s a little harmless satire. Nice to see LT lighten up :) Would help if you marked it as such. It actually would make it funnier unless you’re still mischief making with the emotions of your readers as usual :) Mick for President!

  21. ZAMBIANS VOTED AMASS. NOW YOU HAVE YOUR PRESIDENT TIL 2016. AS FOR ME ITS, KE KE KE KE KE KE KE KE KE KE KE KE . ALL THE WAY TO 2016. MAKANI ABIJA

  22. Please can someone living in botswana confirm if these are the true answers our president gave to the people I diaspora, if so then we have a big problem as a country

  23. I DIDN’T EVEN READ THIS ARTICLE FROM ONE OF THE HIGHLY RESPECTED ZAMBIANS Mr ZUKAS. I HAVE JUST READ IT AND HE’S TALKING ABOUT THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES I TOUCHED ON.
“…On the parentage clause that prevents some Zambians to aspire for the presidency, Zukas said the current constitution-making process should remove the clause because it was discriminatory…”

  24. “…He said people should be allowed to stand for presidency irrespective of their parental background.

“Parentage doesn’t decide who wins elections but people choose leaders based on ability to deliver and there are people with one parent born outside Zambia and have a wider perspective on issues and keeping them out is like depriving ourselves of possible good talents,” Zukas said…”

  25. The first president in the world to have called a spade a spade. Zambians respect foreign countries too much. They need to be told that they are refugees. We are coming home mr president. Spot On!!!

This speech will be quoted for generations to come

    • I totally agree!! No matter how educated, how professional an immigrant can be, they are still not respected. Satana, is right. I can see his argument, and i totally agree with him.

    • Why does the president Ukwa run to India when he is sick?? why not UTH??? He runs to India because there is better medical care… just the same as a citizen who can’t find a job in Zambia runs to Botswana for a job!!!!!

  26. “…On the Barotse Agreement, Zukas said recommendations by the Chongwe commission of inquiry should be the basis for embarking on full decentralisation…” THESE ARE REAL ISSUES ON WHICH THE CURRENT GOVT SHOULD BE CHALLENGED BY ZAMBIAN ‘KNOW ALLs’. NOT DUAL CITIZENSHIP AND REALIGNMENT WHICH IS ALREADY IN THE MANIFESTO. THE PRESIDO WAS SIMPLY SAYING ASK QUESTIONS BEFITTING YOUR HIGH ACADEMIC INTELLECT!

  27. Sata is honest and realistic. Sometimes we in Diaspora tend to be delusional about the real Zambia.

Lesson: Do not attend Sata’s meetings when he visits Diaspora.

  28. Ukwa can insult but .  I will never come back, for what? to come back and be paid peanuts over my dead body.  After al,l Ukwa used to live in London and working as a cleaner at Victioria Station and today he wants to show he knows beta.  I feel sorry for Zambia and Zambians.

    • You right about being paid peanuts.Other issues: Going for medical attention and dying in the waiting line, garbage over Lusaka, street vendors, potholes etc.No.No going back.Never!

  29. I am extremely delighted with HE’s answers; I find them very polite and I would have not said anything better than that, personally. Some people need to be reminded of their mediocre reasoning

  30. This was a shambles from the start…poor high commissioner he is probably mopping up the mess at this very moment.

    • well, hell knows what zambians did and believe me all you lazy zambians who hoped for free coupones by voting in such an illiterate, mean, retarded jerk for president.know shut up and live with it!!you make me sick

  31. Um chik la bakamukaka for writing this crap. This is serious defamation of character. If the writer is saying the truth then why didn`t he put his name on the article ?

  32. Umbi chik la bakamukaka for writing this crap. This is serious defamation of character. If the writer is saying the truth then why didn`t he put his name on the article ?

  33. #22-Leave the people in the diaspora alone. They went out on their own. The monies they earn is sent back home to help out relatives, Zambians. They have different reasons why they left Zambia eg. some were fired for protesting against poor, or lack thereof, medical equipment to save lives of their people; what did you want them to do? Report for work everyday sit down, read a paper and when there is a patient they walk away and watch as the patient dies? They needed a conducive environment to do their work for the benefit of Zambians but we denied them that. If they came back would you guarantee that they would have the medical kits? One should have job satisfaction at the very least. We had drs who were lowly paid and no tools, you wanted them to be patriotic for what?

  34. .. and he refused to dinne with delegates citing poverty in the whole whole. kanda reminds me of a villagers that visited oue house with village attitudes. People; you should have knwn by nw, but it not too late. any meaning Zambian should not be thinking of bembas , tonga or lenje. Sata is just an embarassment to all. We still have power to vote him out. he’s just a disgrace people.

  35. anyway we know sata has no diplomacy but its okay he unleashed it on his fellow countrymen and not foreighners. at least they know him anyway.

    • You are wrong ! We all have the right to be respected and not treated like it is a crime to find a better future for your children !!! Don’t be jelousy find your own destiny !!

  36. Welcome to reality diasporans. You want to be treated better that us who endure. Shame you you. The cobra was spot on. And if you expected the cobra to charm you like RB mwailasha. Wake up, come back develop yourselves. Most of you are disillusioned by the things you get on credit. You went with nothing and will come with nothing, like a Phiri anabwela. Come back you cowards.

  37. If these are the only questions that these refugees asked, then they deserved such rude answers. If you ask funny questions, you deserve funny answers. Weldone my Presido. Next time prepare real questions. I wonder what such dull people are doing in Botswana. Even us here struggle to get land, and you want the presido to favour you? For what reasons? He just put you wher you belong, refuse bin.

  38. There is nothing that has cahnged here. This is the man the way I know him. AT LEAST FOR SOME OF US, HE MEETS OUR EXPECTATIONS. Sorry if you were looking elsewhere.

  39. this can’t be true.:((. His excellence the President can not say such this. anyway since ZNBC shows a documentries on the presidents visits, we look forward to watching it to hear for ourselves. otherwise :((:((:((

  40. waste of tym for all those that attended that meeting…………zambians in botswana stay right there and feed your families……..dogs have gone to our country…..invest right there if you want.

    • if MCS called u dogs.. u would complain till the cows come home… come on he didnt insult n one he just told them wat he is going to give them..NOTHING :) u cn insult all you want till u turn blue… nothing wil change n u erent geting nothing frm home til u willing to be patriotic… mukose!

  41. The first cut is the deepest, from the article it seems the President got upset with the Chairman of the Zambians living in Bots, and the fact that Lubinda confirmed that some of those people were MMD cadres explains why Sata was answering in a short-cut way. Its a pity that it happened that way, but seriously certain issues like the dual-citizenship is important and also the fact that Zambians are not sending monies back home to help their relatives is a clear shame and it did upset Sata

  42. when the man became president, i feared there was a chance i will be proved wrong. now here i am right again at about the man we call our president. and he wanted 2000 people to come.shame.shame. and given accuses Innocent people of being MMD. how paranoid can you get. the questions may have being rubbish but the president is the biggest weed growing there

  43. Ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ko ko ko ko ko wat wat wate wate water water water pl water please! ke ke ke ke ke ke ke kaponya in state house. Even Idi amin was patriotic, gave away indian shops for free, ke ke ke ke ke ke ke ke. KK said this man is not presidential material, FTJ chose LPM instead of MCS. GOD IS GREAT. Zambians are going to write their own history.

  44. :):( I will never regret living in the diaspora Mr S. I think I have achieved more just from getting paid and not stealing as we know it in Zed.

  45. Just stay where you are. Get your citizenship somewhere. Dont go to this poor country. Even if you go back to Zambia, are you going to live forever? Just stay there. If you are a bemba, go back.

    • Hey Ba Kapenta, your last sentence is tribalistic. Stop it. I am Bemba, but I definitely dont support this guy. What has he done for Bembas. As long I hv my papers here, I will stay.

  46. People used to say they enjoyed attending PF rallies to hear the comedy of Sata speak.

Well, now we all get a force-feeding everyday and Ukwa even has a roadshow!

  47. As for me, I would have left the diaspora in September if anybody but Ukwa had won. Why should I go back to rampant nepotism, tribalism, incoherent policies and looking at Ukwa’s ugly mug every night on ZNBC?

  48. So why did he go all the way to Botswana to open a school inferior to St Mary? you insult the people of Botswana in their own country.I doubt this guy will get presidential invites

  49. This is the only Country where a Citizen can have the courage to “insult” the President in the name of Freedom of Expression and doing it in a foreign Country for that matter!!!!. Who screened the speach for the ZACOBO guy? Where was the High Commissioner and the Team? This is what happens when the President is too accomodating. Every monkey will have a field day and at the end of the day nothing gets done. Play Time is Over! You can not be nice to everyone and tolerate everything! Not everyone will appreciate what you do not matter how good it is. What is important is to do what is right after consulting, then close the door and let dogs back until the colapse. Every small boy is talking down to the Head of State, what nonsense is this? Stupidity is not Freedon!!!!

  50. I shudder to imagine that as President Sata was addressing Zambians in Gaberone, the host Botswana Govt could have assigned its Protocol Officers and a diversity of Security Officers to take care of their Guest President’s welfare. President Sata was certainly covered by local and international journalists. If what has been narrated in this article is correct – and it sounds very real knowing Ukwa’s temperamental personality – Botswana regretted having invited this strange President to Botswana. Although relations between Botswana and Zimbabwe are relatively cool, I believe Robert Mugabe would have provided better diplomatic speeches and comments than Ukwa. In South Africa, Jullius Malema would have roasted Sata. We pray the Tswanas will not harass but continue to embrace Zambians.

    • zambians we too naive – ask nigerians – why are zambians want to be treated like children in the name of protocol disguiesed in misguided diplomacy?

  51. From the Botswana bitter experience, other Heads of State in the SADC region will think twice to extend an invitation to raw materials such as Ukwa. This is because many countries have delicate internal national problems on which Ukwa’s lack of diplomacy may only serve to imflame anarchy. Zambians must be sorry for sad events in Botswana. May God Help console President Khama and his humble people.

  52. This is why I cant even get excited that our president wants to meet Zambians in Diaspora. This man is certainly not serious. Does he know how much we sweat to make sure our families back home are doing fine? What is he doing for them? He will surely be sent out of state house in the next 4years. Damn! I cant even be proud that you are from my home town, Mpika. Shame

  53. when you ask stupid questions, you should expect a stupid answers.Wow i hope it wont be like that again somewhere.

    • Ba Mpundu this is not expected from a head of state. I remember Obama been heckled during a town hall meeting; he was so mature about it and handled it so well. To date I cannot picture the young Obama or Cameron to sink so low as to act like a riff raff. As a politician you know that your duty is to woo people on whichever platform you are given. Sometimes in life you will meet lunatics now if there are spectators and these spectators cannot notice who the lunatic between two antagostic groups then it is bad for the leader. The President should ALWAYS be above board.

  54. For those who think this is a joke must take it  serious. Personally confirmed this. I thought Zambia watchdog was out of order. I called my friend in Bots, and confirmed this rubbish. He asked they why the Zambians were welcoming him in the foreign land. is bots there country? They should be used like slaves.

  55. Thanks and NO thanks Mr. President. I will be visiting and will continue sending money to my relatives from here. There’s nothing inspiring about living in Zambia right now with childishness and lack of vision. You treat us like rubbish now and you are not showing any signs that you will change soon. Sorry I’m getting citizenship where they want me and allow me to participate in development. Can you tell me what the benefits of living in Zambia are? I’m patriotic but I won’t live forever!

  56. If he comes to UK, i am attending in a mask and will tell that *****t off.

How can you be so rude to fellow citizens who have done nothing wrong to you Ukwa?

  57. FACT: We have not read the ZACOBO speach.
FACT: President’s answers were insolent, demeaning and disrespectful to many.

To understand the gravity of this situation, imagine that Obama, or the British PM lands in Zed, and his citizens ask him a few important questions and he give such responses. This would cost him his next election, his popularity would fall faster than the Kwacha and he would have no respect from his people.
The Zambian presidency is not a throne, but a servant’s seat. It has only been a few months ad things are this bad.
I pray for us, for my country for my people.

Stay Strong and brace for tougher times.

  58. Thats a joke, no president can say such!!! why do you give us commedy, what do yo think about us? i think you ve taken us …..

  59. Have you all forgotten KK in his last days. “Stupid *****. Next question”, etc. Those where KKs press conference answers to journalists. And Sata boasts of having learnt his trade of politics under kK. Atleast KK was Stateman like president. Sata is plain kaponya and people should not be shocked by his mouth. Welcome to the long commedy until 2016.

    • At least for KK that was after over 20 yrs in office … now only 6 months! what r we going to get after 4 yrs?

  60. i must say the president had a point but he just did not know how to deliver it in a less uneducated way, but he should not forget that the economy of a country is not only made up of GDP but also GNP, since we do not have companies that have gone abroad to dominate other countries’ economy, labour can be one of those factors to count for GNP.

  61. Our presido is 99% right – what I like about our president is that he has no room for pretence – he calls a spade a spade not knife – zambia we are so passive hiding in some kind of domance – we need a push – hard one in fact – sata is a right person we have at this time – we ve been docile for so long – drinking kacasu morning afternoon evening monday to sunday – wake up zambians and move with the president – our president realy mean business

  62. Am in botswana and the people here feel insulted by sata ;s remarks. The govnment is also debating whether to release the said tape or not. Please Zambians stop imbalancing yourselves. I know most Zambians are friendly people, but their president needs deliverance. malawi went through the same reducle!!!! shame

  63. The guys who did the speech on behalf of Zambians in Botswana need to learn some diplomacy. They started the meeting off on a wrong footing. That meeting should not have been political. Politicians like diplomacy to be applied to them first. If you give a confrontational speech to a freedom fighter, he comes out blazing with a muzzle-loader. Guys in the diaspora, use some tact. Remember, all the writing you do on blogs are read by all concerned. Sorry I used the F word ‘diaspora’.

  64. I have run out of laughter and suprising I now have this sorry feeling about UKWA.May be its sickness. He is arrogant for nothing, like Mmembe.King Solomon said that he who hates to be rebuked is stupi.d.

  65. Maxwell (103) never ceases to amaze and amuse me! The other day, an online publication stated that soldiers were seen loitering in western province. The deputy defence minister and the full minister, while admitting that there was a presence of soldiers, ended up contradicting each other! is that unreliable source? This story about the president meeting zambians in botswana is true.Maybe unless if the Post newspaper carried the story verbatim in their paper can it be believed by other unfortunate doubting Thomases.

  66. I am afraid if those were the answers the president was giving. Its takes character, reasonable understanding of what you are trying to achieve and high intellectual capability to bring about a nation where all its citizens will feel proud about and say yes we are a great nation. I am saddened by top calibre of leadership in our country. I wish Lubinda could could be president right this time!

  67. #105, Sata is now a freedom fighter. Please his utterances are not excusable. A stateman/woman should be emotionally and mentally stable at any given time. HEMCS should expect anything at anytime. He is a leader of narep/mmd/upnd/zrp etc and not only pf supporters who will sing and dance to his tune. It is like when a child insults and the parents insults it back. Who would support that? It was wrong for the Zacoba chairperson to give an inappropriate speech, he can be excused-maybe he has not been schooled in diplomacy but HEMCS has been in govt for a long time so he understands these things. But then again what did the inferior school to St Marys have to do with the entire saga? Lol

  68. Ukwa has been rashed to India for cardiac treatment after some tantrums and hyperventilation in Botswana that triggered a cardiac arrest.

Please lets pray for ukwa every life matters.

  69. 1#05, his job was to arrest freedom fighters as a colonial police constable. Ukwa himself has never claimed to have been a freedom fighter, he was fighting freedom fighters.

Why did he get so angry to even end up with a repeat heart attack?

  70. As we pray lets put the interests of the country above those of individuals, lets pray for the best outcome for the country.

  71. Of-course Zambians deserve this because Sata portrays the character and intellect level of majority of the Zambians. Take a look at the world map and ask yourself, this question, “Other than in Zambia —- which other country can vote for a person of Sata`s calibre as President?”

  72. An odd way to sell a Eurobond

(Reuters) – How much can a political ruckus cost? In Zambia’s case, it may raise borrowing costs by adding several basis points to its planned debut Eurobond – a debt issue the government could hardly have done a worse job of selling.Ratings agency Fitch, which earlier this month downgraded Zambia’s outlook to negative from stable, said the development only increased concerns about the government’s direction.

  73. Fitch highlights again the risks associated with sending a negative message on matters relating to economic policy, property rights and respect for the rule of law,” it said.

Just a month ago, Zambia invited tenders for bookrunners and advisors for its Eurobond, planned at $500 to $700 million, with the market expecting a launch sometime this year.
But it was already undermining efforts to woo international investors by reversing the privatization of telecom firm Zamtel to a Libyan company and investigating the sale of a 49 percent stake in state-owned Zanaco Bank to Netherlands lender Rabobank .

  74. ELIAS CHIPIMO 2016!!! TEI MULEPONTELA ABA MU DIASPORA, TATWALILEKO INDALAMA SHABA MMD. INSTEAD OF TAKING THE COUNTRY FORWARD YOU TOOK IT BACKWARDS. YOU BETTER BE REALISTIC MR SATA, THOSE FAMILIES IN BOTSWANA HAD TO MAKE A CHOICE LIVE OR DIE, THEY CHOSE TO LIVE.

  75. Its unfortunate if anyone believes this is what Sata said. We must read between the lines. I know Sata is ma ad but this bad!

  76. Ladies and Gentlemen of Zambia. This is Michael Chilufya Sata, live and uncensored. He is rude and vulgar, disrespectful and extremely inconsiderate. He fears and respects NO-ONE. He will undress the women of Zambia with his callous words. He will emasculate the men with his dry humour and stupid jokes. There are more insults coming your way. YOU ASKED FOR IT!!!!

  77. No 113

You are very correct… thats the UNKWA represents the level of the standard of people in Zambia

  78. Sorry i meant to say…

UNKWA represents the level of people in Zambia. No country in the works can elect a president of his level

  79. Go back home and develop our Zambia. I do admire the Chinese students and/or workers who studying and/or working abroad, they are mindful of their country, and it is for this reason that they work hard to acquire knowledge and capital so that they develop China. GO BACK!!!!!……

  80. Go back home and develop Zambia. I do admire the Chinese students and/or workers who studying and/or working abroad, they are mindful of their country, and it is for this reason that they work hard to acquire knowledge and capital so that they develop China. GO BACK!!!!!……

  81. For 2016 we want the 50%+1 law to come in, because definitely the next elections there will be no one person that all people are going to go for like it was with Michael Sata, even though he is embarassing Zambia big time. Everybody will vote for their preferred person, I will not be surprised to see a coalition government in place. We can’t take this nonsense anymore, the whole world now is laughing at us even though they used to respect us. It takes people without standards to think what Sata said in Botswana is just a joke—- very disappointing and just shows how dull some people are, unless Sata is your uncle or maybe you come from the same background.

  82. I for one think the president was right because its a question of partiotism really why iam going back ASAP,,,its true as whats so special about as in so called diaspora when we are supposed to take on the challenges back home head on and proove our worth????..instead of crying about this and that.,,,whose going to do it of all we do after learning is run away or stay here in the UK?…as the president rightly observes!!!…was it Abraham lincon that saide “ask what you can do for the country other than what the country can do for you”.,,,well something on those lines lol!!..and yes very true…so very dissapointed to see some of the knee jeck reactions typical…..

    i rest my case.:-w

  83. I said it before and i will say it again. We are very very stupid to have put someone like this as our president. Its not him who is a fool but we who put him there. We should have known better

  84. precise! people need to be serious ! you go to Botswana @ diaspora? ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION TO THE PRESIDENT SHOULD BEEN :MR PRESIDENT,WHAT IS THE NEW GOVERNMENT DOING IN ORDER TO ATTRACT THOSE WHO HAVE LEFT THE COUNTRY ? NOT SUCH TRASH !

  85. For those of you who do not know UKWA. When Dr Kwimbe become the minister of health in 1991, he recruited and convinced highly educated Zambians abroad to come and work at UTH. A prominent Zambian doctor was convinced to leave Canada and come work at UTH. Dr Kwimbe constituted the best UTB board ever. Chiluba fired Dr Kawimbe and replaced him with Sata. In know time all the doctors who had returned left because they realized that they were being lead by a fool. UKWA went on to fire all junior doctors when they demanded a better pay.

Thats  your man of action, uneducated, uncultured and uncivilized

  86. @MUZOMAN! you are right man the truth should be told ! the president was right in every sense .OUR PRESIDENT IS NOT A COWARD AND HE CAN NOT STOOP SO LOW AS TO MASSAGE ‘ECONOMIC REFUGEES’.

  87. I am one of those people that left Zambia and I have lived more years abroad than I have lived in Zambia. I still consider myself a Zambia though I have another citizenship. Nobody can deny me my birthright. I support my relatives financially and materially. I visit Zambia and feel like a foreigner. I left at the time when we had the “Party and its government”. This is the same syndrome that Sata is exhibiting. Sorry to say, but this is not how you encourage people to come back.

  88. In no time all the doctors who had returned left because they realized that they were being lead by a fool. UKWA went on to fire all junior doctors when they demanded a better pay.Thats  your man of action, uneducated, uncultured and uncivilized

  89. I have never supported Sata and will never support him in my earthly life time, but with this story i do not believe it. Even if Sata was to be a devil incarnate he would not insult people like this.

  90. Zambia under the TEN COMMANDMENTS rule. He castigates others after he travelled all the way to go and open a secondary school and donates thousands of dollars. Why didnt he donate to Zambian school if he is patriotic. He used to laugh at RB commissioning schools in Zambia but Sata has gone overboard. I guess no one country can invite him for serious projects. I think even the invite to open a school was a diplomatic practical joke. And Sata fulfilled it. You cant blame people for calling this GRZ a comedy, can you?

  91. Diplomacy is not his portion, we need to live with that. He is certainly better at other things like say, i dont know insults? I mean what’s wrong with having a president who doesn’t consult, has never been exposed to ettiquette, does not give a damn about his citizens and doesnt know shit about shit?

  92. Well, I guess we need that from Sata. Alot of Zambians abroad are proud and arrgant and want to prove they know it all yet they are not even willing to help make a difference…infact its hard. We talk too much. Sata wants action. He is old and has no time for discussion. Also consider his character…He is task oriented. So bear with him. Lets develop our country and not adore corruption and talks that never end.. We have been talk king since Kaunda…what have we done. Our time is almost up too.

  93. what a shame.Anyway this is what Zambia voted for. I hope its a good lesson learned.Next time use your vote wisely and please try to visit other countries ans see how they are governed, maybe, just maybe you will realize what the level headed bloggers are talking about.

  94. It is naivety to expect anything much more than this from a former police constable. We haven’t heard or seen anything yet from his Excellence MCS. These comic action have always been there it is just that people closed their ears. “Ukwa” will go in the Zambian history books as the best comedian to have occupied plot 1. Those aspiring to be presidents of Zambia should just be patient “UKWA” will soon leave space for them. We need more serious presidents than SATA. Former British expatriate in the police service? You can be an expatriate anywhere what is important is what you do where you are an expatriate. Mr SATA you may have been washing beer glasses for the Scotland yard police pubs. An expatriate designing roads in Botswana is better by far.

  95. Jiji#137
I believe you are living in a foreign land. If I may ask you, what jobs are there in Zambia which you expect the thousands of Zambians living in diaspora are going to get.I don’t know about you but for some of us we have been in touch with Zed affairs from the time we left the beautiful country. One has to be related to a somebody to get a job, a contract, a place at a public college/University the list goes on.These are some of the concerns Zedians living abroad talk about.

  96. #46 YOU ARE SPOT ON. THINGS WHICH AMAZE AMA ZAMBIANS ARE VERY TRIVIAL. THE IS RIGHT. SIMPLE AND FACTUAL. WHERE ON EARTH DID YOU EVER SEE GOVTS EVER CONSULTING CITIZENS ON WHATEVER THEY ARE GOING TO IMPLEMENT? THAT WAS AN INFORMAL MEETING WITH ZAMBIAN AND THE PRESIDENT DID NOT NEED A WRITTEN SPEECH. BUT THAT SPEECH WILL EVER STAND THE TEST OF TIME. THATS WHY AND WHERE I LIKE THE MAN- SATA. HE’S FACTUAL.

  97. Good evening

What more can I say? Take it or leave it. The truth is an offence but it is not a sin.

As a Zambian in diaspora, I must also confess that I`m also not soothed by our president’s words but I also feel that we constantly need to be reminded of who we are and where we are coming from. When Jonah was sent on a mission to warn the people of Niniveh, he was so upset with God and the people of Niniveh that he even tried to ran away from his high call of duty. Eventually, destiny prevailed and he used harsh words to warn the people but what matters in the end is not Jonah’s attitude but that the city of Niniveh was saved.

  98. THE OTHER THING I LIKED ABOUT SATA IS THAT HE CHOSE TO GO TO THE RIGHT COUNTRY- BOTSWANA. MOST OF YOU CHAPS OVERSEAS ARE JUST READING ABOUT BOTSWANA. TAKE A BREAK TO GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES. ALL LESSONS ON STANDARDS CAN BE LEARNT FROM THERE AND NOT NIGERIA. YOU DON’T NEED TO GO TO JAPAN OR MALAYSIA TO LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP. EVERYTHING IS IN ONE PLACE AND THAT PLACE IS BOTSWANA.

    • And why can’t the standards be in Zambia instead of referring to other countries? Ba neighbour imwe! Zambia should set the standards, Botswana has just woken up man.

  99. I must say RB may have made mistakes but there is no comparison between RB and HMCS (UKwa). Watching the last assignment on MuvTV aired on Africa Unite last week reviewed glaring differences between RB and UKWA. RB with two degrees surely was a better presidential material than our current UKWA. Not president material, Not president material, not president materials, May be inspector general of Police or even chief Spook (Chief Intelligence officer). It seems he (MCS) has some Lenshina blood in him. A sober person will not consistently answer questions in the manner he did in Botswana. Shame. I feel for those that attended the meeting, you must have been pinching yourselves to ascertain whether you were dreaming or not.

  100. This article is too bad to be true, if it was gumbling, sembe bambili baluza. Olo munthu ni chipuba bwanji sanganyoze so. Maybe if this is put on youtube, i find it hard to believe!

  101. #104. YOU GUYS YOU FEEL INSULTED!!! BUT WHY WERE YOU ASKING STU.PID QUESTIONS? YOU SOUNDED LIKE BAN KI-MOON WHO CAME WHOLE THE WAY FROM US OF A TO COME AND AMPLIFY THE ISSUE OF HOMOSEXUALITY WHEN THERE ARE MORE PRESSING ISSUES IN AFRICA SUCH AS FREE INTERNATIONAL TRADE, UNDER-DEVELOPMENT, DISEASE, POVERTY, ILLITERACY- THE LIST IS ENDLESS. NEXT TIME DON’T ASK STUPID QUESTIONS.

    • They asked questions that was befitting the respondent. If they were to ask about Fitch ratings would have known what the hell they were talking about? Even international trade honestly, who was going to comprehend? Mr Mataka and Mr Lubinda mwati ni ba Sata?

  102. If those were questions by Zambians living in Bostwana to the president, then they deserve what the president told them. Not only the questions sounds stupid but also lacks respect for the president. He might have used harsh words but he spoke the truth, ati in your face, wat a wake up call from the president to ZACOBO.

  103. This is the man you put in power. What first expatriate to England. You were scrubbing floors at Victoria Station. He wants you to go to Zambia and start sucking up to him in order to get a job. Unemployment is more than 70 percent in Zambia. And you finally get a job, you have to lick Sata’s rear to keep it.

  104. It is a shame to see some bloggers trying to defend the behaviour of their master. I do not know where that sort of conduct is acceptable. Is Zambia his personal property? What is wrong with someone asking him about his realigning? Don’t stakeholders have the right to know what is going on in his clever mind? Zambians will have to wait a long time for development and a quality lifestyle. Strap yourselves for more poverty and comedy while the new occupant of plot 1 enjoys his spoils with his relatives

  105. This underlines how naive Zambians are. You watched Sata from a distance all these years. This is the real Sata. He doesn’t represent the character of today’s Zambian.

  106. Italian Bunga Bunga, Maxwell and all Kaponyas…. Your president has spoken, to others he is an embarassment a legacy in the making.

  107. Gumu Gumu #140, spot my brother! And Deep Throat #150, you have actually underestimated the unemployment levels in Zambia are more 90% becuase out of a population of 13 million only 700,000 people are in formal employment. And Sata is insulting Zambians abroad for not going back to Zambia. What will they be doing there? Most people who live abroad earn their living thru hard work and honest means. For me to earn to become a millionnaire in Zambia, i have to be corrupt or steal money meant for drugs in rural areas.

  108. If this was his reply believe or not he is right zambians are too selfish. If you think he was wrong take a hard long look in the mirror and ask yourselves the same question

  109. The mind set of the people that went to the meeting was tuned to receiving praise for being in diaspora. Jesus christ the man was spot on; we need reminders. Just shift your expectations and be challenged. I always feel challenged, and would not want to get back to Zambia searching for a Job; rather to be an employer. The man is right!! Zambian Engineers built infrastructure; the same engineers look elsewhere when giving contracts in Petaule; we end up getting shoddy works!! Where is the professionalism? Where is the patriotism? Why are we more hardworking abroad than we are at home? Yes there is pay difference, bit did you know that contractors in Zambia charge the highest rates in the Southern Africa? But why do we end up with crap facilities?

  110. guys this guy is having a nervous breakdown.the wife is a doctor she knows what am talking about.the king is naked and no one has the courage to tell him but instead they laugh along with him.

  111. Think outside the box and you will see how refreshing his comments where. You do not need to be back in Zambia to contribute to Zambia; but you need to be involved. Surely, you expect government to send papers for land applications in “diapora”? Go home, apply at the council, better still, buy from people that have some land. The man is real; Grade 7 who thinks better than ba k.o.l.w.e fwema graduates. We need people that are pationate about Zambia to change things. There is no respect for being an immigrant; period. I am going back, in phases, but am going back like it or not. elections are coming, and its all “immigration”; I hate that.

    • Other countries afford their diaspora to vote! We can’t even allow ours apply for land. We should be ashamed. If we are not ashamed, then that is the reason we will continue to be poor, underdeveloped, uneducated, unproductive, etc.

  112. This is not funny. Zambias profile abroad is out of the window. We face very serious leadership issues with the ruling party and Government of the day. ministers compete against each other abuse plus lowering of citzes is the order of the day. We aint seen nothing yet!!

  113. President Kennedy said ask not what the country will do for you but what you will do for the country. SATA has clearly sent a message to all armchair critics that the current dilapilated state of the country is not the responsibility of the president and PF alone but all zambians even those that have run away.

Therefore, its foolish to try to sound intelligent at the expense of condeming a govt that has only been in power for 5 months.  Its a good dosage for those who try to make a name out of insulting leaders.

    • Interesting you should quote Kennedy’s “Ask Not” speech.

Now imagine Kennedy replaced with Sata, and giving the same speech and responses given above. He would have been a laughing stock and assassinated sooner.

Listen, we all love Zambia and want to see it progress. Ask yourself this: “Does what happened in Botswana propel the country forward, or bring value to any Zambian?”

Your answer is the current health of the country.

  114. South africans and Twanas always ask, HOW CAN THESE FOREIGNERS LOVE US WHEN they have run away from their own families?
Most foreigners rarely visit their own countries which spent a lot of tax payers money plus the striggling parents to educate them .Truly, we need to wake up. Thanks King Cobra.

  115. Read between the lines – the chairman of  ZACOBO was rude and the reference of Kaponyas being in charge (inferred) struck a live wire in “the Cobra” and the Cobra struck back in great style. Warning to all future key speeches to be delivered in future by the Diaspora representatives to have the speech vetted by a committee. The speech must be engaging of the Head of State with national issues. The question of Dual Citizenship will come to pass through the commission chaired by Chief Justice Annel Silungwe will come to pass and it is not President Sata to manipulate the commissions finding. Lets be sensible and be respectful to the head of state.

    • So it is ok to get annoyed with ZACOBO chairman and then go on to insult Botswana??? Is that reasonable counsel from a Head of State????????????? Sata did noteven make reference to ZACOBO in his answers and leaving without national anthem too? Voice of Reason, reason better please.

  116. Respect is earned, if Ukwa continues to behave in the same way he will never be respected.

Any serious leader could have handle his temper and not throw tantrums like a kaponya. ZACOBO president was right in his description just like Chanda Chimba who prophecied all this nonsense.

  117. The only ones consistently talking negatively about Zed internationally online are Zambians and that could be said for most other countries about its own. It just shows you care at some level. The Botswana story is limited to the sites you know (if that is of comfort). Taking this too seriously will raise your blood pressure… and all of you are needed by someone somewhere so God bless you and Zed.

  118. GO BACK AND DEVELOP ZAMBIA, NO ONE WILL DO IT FOR YOU. DO NOT ENJOY THE FOOD AND HATE THE COST OF BUYING IT. Whatever you are enjoying in Botswana, it is the tswanas that suffered for it.

You are running away from Zambia because you have failed to do your homework. USA,UK, and other developed countries have made it because they sacrificed for their countries hence they are now enjoying. Get educated abroad and get back to Zambia so that you develop your mother land. I will come back to Zambia in October 2012 and I intend to take qualifications to Mr.Sata so that he employs me as a director in one of the ministries.

  119. If this is Sata’s way of treating Zambians in the diaspora I don’t see anyone attending his “meetings” and that’s my advice.

  120. Its so distressing to read such crude comments directed at our head of state on a public forum from fellow Zambians.

    Good night!

    • It is so distressing getting such crude comments coming out of the mouth of our President.  How can a geriatric politician behave like a 17 year old kaponya out to embarass everybody?  What is wrong with a gentle kindly reminder instead of harsh, attacking and insulting words to both his audience and hosts?  Sata is an ungrateful numbskull who deserves a humiliating end like Gaddafi or Emperor Bokassa.

  121. Hahaha very funny, and to think one would take this story truthfully is a joke on its on! Happy reading. Ba Zambian in Botswana, please get a life.

  122. Seriously, I think this is the beginning of a Paradigm shift for Zambia. The net effect will be more people with marketable skills leaving the Country to work and live in Countries of their choice.

  123. His ending will be sad. He will one day learn to respect fellow human beings not treating them like his own kids. He is a retar.d

  124. ” Some of your relatives in the villages have never seen a tarred road and you are busy designing Botswana roads? No patriotism at all ”

Patriotism starts at the top of government. It starts with collecting all the taxes that are due from the mines.

If that is done, there will be plenty of money to build roads in Zambia and hire Zambian engineers to do it.

    Someone has their priorities backwards.

    • You can design as many roads as you want but if the govt is not interested in developing certain areas, no roads will be built.  At least the Batswana mean what they say: they use Zambian expertise to develop their country.  In Zambia, you get id!ots fighting you left, right and centre just so they can stop you.  Mr Sata, show us the money for developing the Bottom Road.  Just last month you were telling the Mwata Kazembe that there is no money to do roads in his province.  So any b\plans will be shelved while you continue politicking. Rubbish!

  125. Zambians have been taught a lesson by voting for a certified lunatic. And what expatriate in 1970 was he, sweeping Victoris Station, atase!

  126. As much as this is a Chinama confinement room speech with every evidence of ignorance mind characterized by indignation, ZACOBO should have known this.

Look now Ukwa has been rashed to India for cardiac treatment after some tantrums and hyperventilation in Botswana that triggered a cardiac arrest.
Please lets pray for this man every life matters. Throughout human history man has learnt that God has a way of dealing with Pharaohs.

  127. Firstly, a Bishops son starts a meeting without prayer, then the Chairman for ZACOBO makes a ridiculously political speech & you think it cannot affect the responses??? it offended the President coz it was insulting to the President!! what have lusaka building painting got to do with anything?? i thought Lusaka was well developed as compared to other towns!! You asked silly questions & you got silly answers. serves you right & i do not condemn the presidents responses coz you insulted him!!

    • ZACOBO Chairman was right.  You Pixxy must be a Kitwe based kaponya who thinks that Lusaka is heaven.  Painting should start with Cabinet office that has a disgusting peeled yellow paint from pre-independence.

  128. When all is said and done it is government’s job to ensure that basic services are delivered to all citizens. This includes birth certificates, passports, security, etc.

We as citizens ensure that the servants we elect into government serve our needs.
If they don’t we vote them out.

  129. wait for it – someone will ask the president if he intends to retire:
Sata(n) answers “did you people ever ask KK that question, I intend to do so when I m ready”

  130. King Cobra was harsh ladies and gentlemen but he hit the nail on the head.  He is 100% right!  Zambia needs leaders like him to move forward. No baby sitting Zambians in Diaspora.  Zambians go back home and develop our country especially roads in Petauke, Katete, Chadiza Sinda etc….

  131. That is radicalism, radical thinking and acting. You need to be a rebel from usual expectations. If you wanted praises for being away from Zambia, well its up to you. What the Republican stated was plain truth. The only problem was our recent history where our economy had gone, then corruption and what-have-you. The statements from the president are plain truth and radical in nature. You need that kind of thinking in order to think alternatively to what you always believed in or thought about. Think again, and again and again. Has the facts that the President communicated to you true or false? If true, then don’t just focus on semantics. Its a big challenge being thrown at you. The radical, rebel and pragmatic president, the message is very clear even for the daft to acknowledge.

  132. you cant speak like that how much are u paying a teacher in Zambia sum one whou taught even him self king combra u cant just speak like that to ur children

  133. First expatriate my A***. Yoou were mopping the dirty floors of some railstation. Mr. president, you cannot just stoop so low.

  134. I will never blame Zambians or Africans for migrating their own land to go to other land for green pastures. Our African leaders must learn to reatin the skills we have in African and compensate them equally….

  135. I have just listened to a recording of the meeting and i cant believe the lies being told in this article!!! You will crucify an innocent person. Sata was joking mostly and the people in the audience were enjoying his jokes. Never did i hear Sata expressing anger but advised Zedians to go back and develop zed. Where did the writer get this news? You may not like Sata but please dont feed the world with lies, its an insult on everyone reading this article.

    • UKO, you are the kind of man who would say because the child did not scream and appeared to enjoy the act then there was no child abuse???? I was there at the meeting and you mean as a Head of State, you can say what he said about his hosts on an official State visit???? Or are you just one of those loyal PF members who laugh when you are insulted? Those “jokes” as you understand them were not jokes to many of us, especially considering that the meeting ended abruptly without even singing the national anthem. OR maybe this was also a joke?????

    • Why not post it on a facebook page eg of Lusaka Times so we all download and/or others will forward and so on. Remember, confidentiality is key for this new e-press freedom. For obvious reasons, including yourself, we are using undercover names.

  136. Yes i am also going back home soon….we should be ashamed of asking for favours coz we are away from home….shame

  137. Zambia has gone to the dogs !!! Not even our relatives want us to come home !!!! More Zambians back home also want to join us into the diaspora !!! Even the Kaponyas want the secret to finding greener pastures in the diaspora !! What does that tell you about the country ??? We want to participate in the development of Zambia but all we are getting is this kind of hatred !!! starting from this president to the man on the street !!!!

  138. i meant that our relatives have benefited a lot from our earnings in the diaspora. The salaries in the ministry of health …..are wack !!!

  139. Make enough money abroad then invest back home….ask for tax incentives or duty free status when bringing back machinery not cheap rates for land….we say we are very educated and are making so much money yet we want to be favoured?….I must say the ZACOBO chairman is also very rude and stupid, how can he recieve the President in that manner….Besides maybe only 5% of us in diapora even voted!….People are locked up in developed nations seeking green cards and yet we want favours?…shame indeed!

  140. Yakwilanzi. who told you that you can only contribute to Zambias development by getting cheap land?…..You are wrong Kaponyas do not want to leave zambia, they want greener pastures in Zambia….For your own information even mposa mabwe in kitwe is now dressed…

  141. Ba Sata ba tata, diplomacy goes a long way. Even (perceived) stupid questions derseve respectful answers – not impressed mwe.

  142. I do not why all y’all are complaining…this is the change you wanted…

will we have any allies at the end of his term?

  143. get the facts about HE meeting and question and answer. As a matter of fact, many comments across to a big extent are negative about HE. As al you bloggers will agree with me those in diaspora went on there own(greener pastures).
Understand that question time was a great opportunity for Zambians living in Bots and for HE to sale Govt of Zambia to its citizen but note the following:
1- the chairman of zacobo misguided himself – though he is Tonga this has nothing to do with this but he lacked respect and his speech was not well tailored eg how do you ask the Head of the State about painting of building in Zambia?
2- Bots was a power base for MMD & UPND for last years elections, many activities happened here. You guyz reading this article you may dispute this, but get it its a fact.

  144. 3- could it be that HE was frasturated with this stracture, MMD & UPND base in Bots? I dont knw.
I live in Bots i have a story to tell.
Lastly, my appeal to all zambian be respecful to HE, he was voted for, and he is in office by Popular vote, post sensible things and be christians enough for every word we will give an account for it. God bless Zambia.
    By zambia living in Bots.

  145. Joel, I was also at the same meeting. Honestly, you can insult your children, but to insult your host who is keeping your children as well??? Do you support the President’s virtual insults on Botswana about “5 shops”, “this President and country are just exploiting you”, “St.Mary’s better school than this one I came to open”, etc????? Most of us in the diaspora do not belong to any political party but you evidently sound like PF. Please, let us assist our HE to be a “Statesman” and not a comedian, a rude and insensitive one for that matter

  146. I was at this meeting too and what has been reported in the article is true word for word. Radio Botswana news reported what was said especially about the 5 shops and exploitation by Botswana government. Those who live in Botswana will tell you that the new school is a state of the art school and can not be compaired to St Marys and Gaborone has probably the same number of new shopping malls as Lusaka. And Sata refused to eat at the school opening ceremony. It was embarassing to say the least.

  147. Well, the truth pains, the ZACOBO guys got what they asked for, I was told their speech was very silly, hence such rubbish answers. Typical MMD Cadres. Come to the Middle East Mr. President we willwelcome you better. LET ZAMBIANS LEARN THAT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE one PRESIDENT AT A TIME. LET GO RB IS GONE SO help your current government than just condemn

  148. stay there don’t come back be citizens just there, i am coming to join you after earning decent education here in Zed!!!

  149. Sata is busy insulting fellow citizens living in a foreign country and yet he is busy evacuating his own government officials’ wives to foreign clinics and hospitals. What a hypocrite!
