Share

Congolese champions T P Mazembe on Monday evening beat Zesco United 2-1 in a practice match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The match was played behind closed doors as per request from Mazembe.

Mazembe captain Tresor Mputu and Tanzanian striker Samata Mbwana scored for the Lubumbashi side in the first half while Winston Kalengo pulled one back for Zesco late in the game.

This was confirmed to LT Sports by Zesco official Frank Chitambala.

Initially, Mazembe were supposed to play the friendly against local champions Power Dynamos but there was a last minute change.

The four-time African Champions League winners are in Zambia for a training camp ahead of their away CAF Champions League match against Egyptian side Zamalek on Sunday.

Last Thursday, Mazembe lost 1-0 to Forest Rangers with Zebron Njovu scoring the solitary goal in another practice match played in Ndola.
