The PF government has managed to create over 20,000 quality jobs since assuming power in September last year, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Bob Sichinga has claimed.

Mr. Sichinga explained that the PF government has focused on creating quality jobs that will give meaningful and decent livelihoods to Zambians.

He stated that the jobs have been created in sectors such as the mines and road construction.

Mr. Sichinga was speaking last evening on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview TV programme.

“We have created plenty of jobs, something like over 20,000 since we came into power, we are currently documenting these jobs and we will soon show to Zambians that we are creating the jobs,” Mr. Sichinga said.

[pullquote]“We have been realigning, we have not failed to deliver in 90 days, we have just been realigning and I don’t think it’s fair to say we cheated the Zambians,” Mr. Sichinga said. [/pullquote]

Mr. Sichinga further claimed that the bulk of the 20,000 jobs have come from Maamba Collieries where a Singaporean investor is putting up a coal fired power station.

He said the PF government has spent its first year in office trying to realign the manifesto to its party policies.

“We have been realigning, we have not failed to deliver in 90 days, we have just been realigning and I don’t think it’s fair to say we cheated the Zambians,” Mr. Sichinga said.

Mr. Sichinga said his Ministry is committed to spearheading the creation of permanent and decent jobs for the millions of unemployed Zambians.

He said the PF government will use the Multi Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ) and the provincial industrial clusters to accelerate the creation of new jobs.

    • I also agree. Why is Sichinga attempting to get credit for MMD initiated projects? Bwana liar Minister, please create your own projects for all to see.

  1. The only problem is that most of these jobs are project construction labourers. Once the project is built and is operational, all these labourers will be unemployed.
As a matter of fact, I do not understand how PF can iniative projects or resture companies to creat jobs in 90 days. What Mr bob is counting is REALLY credit that should be given to MMD. Road projects, Mamba COal fired plant were all projects that PF found when they came into office. As far as PF is concern, they have not managed to initiate any signfiancnt project that can generate a job other than party hooliganism.

  2. ‘we have created something like over 20, 000 jobs’ speaking on znbc. Honestly a minister should be prepared to give proper ststistics when questioned especially that he knew he was going to be interviewed. My heart bleeds each time a zambian politician opens his mouth. One can tell they dont know what they are doing

  3. Please Sichinga just shut up!! The Maamba project was initiated by MMD. If you can only create 20,000 per year as you claim, it will take you 50 years to create 1 million jobs for a population that would be 100 million by that time.

  4. I think this gvt is full of immature ministers. Are there trying to see if people can react or what? Why comment on jobs we haven’t seen,or are you trying to convince us that the 20000 job is working for your relatives?Enough don’t try our patience Bob and your PF failure.

  5. I hope Mr. Sichinga is not telling lies again like he did over the K3 trillion fake notes that were in circulation in Zambia. I will wait for the Statistics. Otherwise people like him have lost credibility.

  6. Sometimes we should bear with President Sata, the man has no material for ministers. If you take stock of his ministers you will find that most of them can not hold those positions anywhere in the world, Masumba for example!!!!!!!!

  7. Well done! You can surely do more than that. Try to engage into a running gear as we enter the second year of PF being in power. We are still behind you with alot of hope that PF will deliver and prove its critics wrong.

  8. They are doing a great job
Well after creating these jobs why do we still have people morning then?
That number of jobs in only 10 months we should be happy, at that trend they will create over 120,000 jobs by the time the next elections are due.
You would have to be insane, a retard not to give credit where it is due.

I am not into so much drivel in attacking someone when they are doing a great job, and here you cant help but be impressed. I suggest they are congratulated on the job well done and THAT IS TH PARTY WE ALL WANTED TO SEE IN POWER

    Well done

    Thanks

    • I cant agree with you more, Mushota. The problem we have in Zambia is that people have become so negative, even when they get good news they find it difficult to say “well done!” For the sake of our country, lets give credit where its due.

    • for a PhD holder you are easily fooled. That figure is not backed by anything. He should hve come with names of projects where these jobs are being created. the only he mentioned unfortunately was left by MMD and should be where the minister is pointing as success

    • Boss, the man is hallucinating. If the jobs had been created – and he says QUALITY JOBS -we would have seen them. Speaking from the ground i can tell you that there is nothing that has changed in the last 10 months.

  9. This is part of stupidity the hon.can display. Hw can someone in his calibre fail to tell zambians exact figure so that we make reference to his claims. Punisher forces learn manners

  10. You know people who behave like they are knowledgeable but when you get close to them you discover they are completely useless? That is the case here! Madness of the highest order

  11. Where are the jobs bwana – real or in the offing? True, you should have had the figures, and the related breakdown according to industry, and also netted off against the losses over the same period. Otherwise, kunyina ancomucita pe basa!

  12. “Mr. Sichinga further claimed that the bulk of the 20,000 jobs have come from Maamba Collieries where a Singaporean investor is putting up a coal fired power station” When did PaFwaka visit Singapore to bring in these guys – This project was started by kamwendo Ala B. Tell us about the ‘investors’ your president went to see in India lol

  13. “We have been realigning, we have not failed to deliver in 90 days, we have just been realigning and I don’t think it’s fair to say we cheated the Zambians,” Mr. Sichinga said. Either Zambians are very dull to take this crap from a “fully grown man” or this Bob is very stupid

  14. “something like over 20,000 since we came into power, we are currently documenting these jobs”. So sichinga is guessing!

Mr. Sichinga further claimed that the bulk of the 20,000 jobs have come from Maamba Collieries where a Singaporean investor is putting up a coal fired power station. This is not true as it is under construction until 2015. A 300 mega watts coal-fired power plant can not employ more than zesco. So it can not be more than 2000. So these are construction jobs at the moment. Therefore have not yet created the quality jobs until 2015 when it will be completed.

  15. According to ZDA website: “In an interview in Lusaka yesterday (18 May 2012), Maamba Collieries head of corporate affairs Janardhan Lavu said the construction of the 300 MW power plant was on course and would create 500 employment opportunities for Zambians who would, apart from taking part in the construction process, also be engaged in other related works.” So is Sichinga telling the truth that the bulk of 2000 jobs is equal to 500?

  16. What employment have you created thus far? Nothing, the PF regime does not see the line between quantitative employment and qualitative employment. That line is blurred to the so called architects of the Zambian economy, shame. The sort of employment the PF regime is attempting to show poor Zambians is quantitative employment, employment which is non-decent in that it is temporary and it is meant for the hungry unskilled labourers. An example of this type of employment is found in sectors such as mining, construction, service industry, agriculture etc. Provide qualitative employment for your people not new form of slavery. Comrade HH please you have something you can sleep on. Sink you teeth in this issue take it up because PF people have joined the intensified exploitation of Zambians.

  17. It sounds as if the bastard was having tujilijili the whole night before interviews. Hw can someone of his calibre estimate job creation in his gvt?

  18. #13, Mushota, this is the first time you’ve spoken some sense! I hope you will now take more grade 12 evening classes to smoothen out your grammar, lol!!

  19. I have retrenched 20 due to the minimum wage requirement. I presume a lot of such cases exist. It sad that the minister is dreaming figures and impressed with the kind of employment created , these are casual workers mostly employed for manual labour. What happens to these guys, they seem to lose their intellect the moment they are appointed as Ministers- what a shame.

  20. Maamba Colliery and the attendant 300MW coal power station has nothing to do with PF. This is an MMD project signed and sealed in 2010. Nava Bharat of Singapore bought the mine in 2010 and committed itself to building the power station. Sichinga and your PF the only jobs you have created are those of your relatives and tribal mates from Northern and Luapula provinces!

  21. Thought the minister should know better that, these jobs are not full time as they were only printing fake 3 trillion kwacha after that everyone was laid off.smh wat a minister dalo,dalo..

  22. Even my 3 year old son cannot believe that story from bwana Minister. The most unreliable data normally comes from Ministers, especially Zambian Ministers.

  23. Liar, liar, liar. Why for the Love of your country can’t you just stop lying Bwana Sichinga? You are too old and educated to engage in such empty lies. When and where do these lies stop. At what point do you intend to stop lying. “Three Trillion Kwacha fake money”, “20,000 jobs in 10 months”. Gosh! Shouldn’t the lies have stopped after the elections. Campaign time ended 11 months ago. Now it’s time for you to get down to delivering real and tangible results. Remember, Saizi was fired for not performing.

  24. heaps of rubbish from an adult’s mouth. Zambians please stop recycling politicians you will never move on. some of us left the country because we did not have jobs there.

  25. Hehehehe…,This ka mans thinking is as “good” as his looks.PaFyamba has no idea of how to create the jobs they promised.Rb was a player but the good thing in that in his playing he had a plan.

  26. What ? You mean Bob Can talk like that without figures? I refuse to believe that Bob said what is reported here. No; No. I have always held Bob in very high esteem until today!!!! He might have missed a meal or something. I respect all Zambians and do not believe in any Tribal Bullshit because my tribe is Zambian. As you Tongas and Bembas fight, I just laugh it off because your sons and daugthers are busy marrying_ that area does not Know tribe a sign that this bullshit tribal thing of your will not be an issue at all in 30 years thanks to Sex that knows no tribe…Sweet. So please understand my shock when I hear Bob making a shit statement!!!

    • Get a better name! It appears that your existence on this blog is limited to commenting against another blogger, you are pretty petty and out- rightly unintelligent to an extent that you get emotional when others post intelligent comments. Regardless the sense in your posts, no one really takes you seriously because your existence on the site is really one of no substance! MYSRIP!

  27. When did you guys in Zambia started quoting job numbers as a way of creating jobs? You people are listening to much to the American press. Stop emulating the USA. have your own style.

  28. The man is right, they have created 20 000 night jobs at parliament motel.Probably a little higher depending on daily demands. We commend you bwana

  29. How can a Commerce Minister get away with such a vague statement only in Zambia; I feel cheated every time “Sideshow Bob” opens his month in his ministry as I supported him when he was in opposition…the man is clearly clueless.

  30. Jobs given to sycophants, relatives and hangers-on of the president and his buddies. The president creates jobs for such people by expanding the government, including creating phony diplomatic positions and manufacturing new districts and provinces. Im sure that is what this man is talking about. This country is now a circus, some of us are lucky to watch from a distance.

  31. Considering the high levels of unemployment in the country.20,000 jobs must be the minimum MONTHLY and not annual jobs that should be created. If the Honourable minister wants to be applauded for such myopic thinking, then there`s little hope on the horizon.Sata and PF must be serious in trying to tackle unemployment in our nation.

  32. Good morning Bob! You were asleep and now Sebastian’s firing has awoken you. Go back to sleep ba sebele. Sata cannot fire you.

  33. 20,000jobs,my foot!! Bob is a liar, pure Liar  like his boss…..Bob where is the fake kwacha you lied about man?? Show us the billions of fake Kwacha that MMD printed before we believe you. Lies Lies Lies on top of Lies. People what to see recruitment in all the provinces and districts not lies lies lies lies again Bob! show us the colour of your fake kwacha money and these jobs man!!

  34. I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE ALL THE INTELLECTS OF ZAMBIA FELL FOR PF’S STORIES…….REALLY SAD FOR THE POOR…LETS PRAY FOR OUR NATION PEOPLE

  35. “He said the PF government has spent its first year in office trying to realign the manifesto to its party policies”. I thought it should have the other way round. What we were promised is in the manifesto and so PF should hve been aligning the party policies (hopefully he means government policies, particularly those that failed under MMD) to the PF manifesto. Aligning the manifesto to policies will only produce a new manifesto probably for use in 2016 or when ever there are bi-elections

  36. Zambians have no time for statistics. They what to see and feel.So Hon.Bob,next time you give an interview of such magnitude make us see and feel.Otherwise…….

  37. It would be wiser for the dear minister to give practical examples as opposed to making statements without facts. Its VERY easy to claim 20,000 jobs. However, please bring us up to speed with reality by showing the jobs that have been created. Flowery stories mean nothing if we are still hungry and know not what you are harping about.

  38. Ba bob u must be a fool for anyone to believe yo hallucinations that are not backed by any stastical evidence. Maamba only employs 500 staff what bulk is that when extrapolated into yo 20 000 jobs. I think this guy is living in a virtue world. He doesn’t know what he is talking about
PF and Sata now have started nauseating me

  39. The man who speaks as fast as the speed of a spine tail fly bird…a bird that can fly as speeds of 170km/hr so as bib sichinga’s speed when he is talking.i wonder how he combines thinking and talking at that speeds cud be the reason why he cush lands most of the time.

  40. They found things in place. PF has done nothing, all they are boasting about is what was already in place and all these projects where all planned and paid for. There is nothing that they have done. What can you do in 90 days fyabufi. Nangu bwanga teti fibombe. Only people who are very dull can say PF is working. Let us be real you guys. You have seen roads being belt, a lot of vehicle in Zambia kano fye uushilefwaya, houses being belt when did they start? Can someone tell me that this is PF work? Let them do something different not what MMD started, me I feel like it is still MMD at work because all this I am seeing is MMD manifeto at work. Mu beepe bambi not ifwe. they fired people political ground and yet they are saying they have created jobs, where? Firing innocent people, mukaya pya

  41. Fi puumbu ifi. they think we are not seeing or we don’t think. They will see come 2016. Or any time from now we can have by elections. kabili Lesa ni malyotola. He has no respecter of man. He can change things at anytime.

  42. “…something like over 20,000…” This can only come from a foolish minister in a foolish government to people who are taken for a ride i.e foolish citizens.

  43. Did he use the K3 trillion printed illegally by MMD to create these fake 20,000 jobs?! Bobo your verbal diarrhoea is smelly.  Just shut up!

  44. mwilatusebanya naimwe, which jobs? casuals, u are letting even people who were in permanent employment being turned into casuals, nonsense.

  45. “We have created plenty of jobs, something like over 20,000 since we came into power, we are currently documenting these jobs and we will soon show to Zambians that we are creating the jobs,” Mr. Sichinga said”  If they are still documenting where did he get the figure. What these people should do is to first admit that they have failed then they can solicit for help through consultations. Short of that we will be worse off in 2016 than we were when these guy came into power

  46. Well, where are your figures derived from Bob? Frankly speaking, the PF government increasingly looks unworthy to govern. You reduced taxes for the banks without getting assurances from banks to deliver. You increase the retirement age without considering new graduates? For every extra year a current employee gets, it is a year of deprivation of a graduate. Many people know it in their minds that HH would perform a classier job compared to PF, but he has been ‘pettified’ and scathed as a tribalist and a bitter person, a person who appears scary to the electorate and can only be ushered into office should the economy go bananas.

  47. “”GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR””,BOB AND DOB IN THE PICTURE. AT LEAST HE HAS CREATED IN ME ONE MEMORY IN MY ENGLISH LITERATURE LESSON.

  48. My brother suggested I would possibly like this website. He used to be totally right. This submit truly made my day. You can not imagine simply how so much time I had spent for this information! Thank you!
