Road Development Agency Board chairperson Willy Nsanda says the Patriotic Front government will leave no stone un-turned in its efforts to improve the country’s road infrastructure.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm news, Mr. Nsanda says the recent inspections of the progress being made in the road projects by him and republican President Michael Sata is an indication of the PF’s resolve to ensure that road works are done on schedule.

He says so far government is happy with the progress on many road works across the country.

Mr. Nsanda has also pointed out that government is not being too hard contractors but that its desire is to ensure that work is done for the Zambian people.

He has further urged critics to prove government wrong if the roads won’t be done within the stipulated time frame.

  1. If Mr. Nsanda is given this position to push the sleeping contractors and monitor the upcoming ones, then I guess he’ll deliver, otherwise professionally, he’s not qualified.

  2. Mr Nsanda, what do you mean by your statement “no stone unturned”? Are you after corrupt contractors? Your statement is confusing as your concern seems to be on the progress of the project and not serious issues like corruption which case your statement will be more applicable.

  3. That’s the spirit. Push them contractors. This will be the hallmark of the PF government. Roads are important in fostering economic and social development.

  4. Good move sir, but dont ever steal our money as the MMD did. Work for Zambians sir and 2016 is yours PF. But if you will steal our money as the MMD did then count yourselves out.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia

  5. Willy Nsanda is a vuvuzela cadre no different to one buffoon Kambwili; making empty vague noises and appearing in public is the norm for these characters…that’s not what Project Management is all about..RDA deserves better than this…what would Willy know about Value Management or innovative road materials and designs for highways, motorways or dual carriageways.
If he has nothing to say at least let him tell us what measures they have put in place to reduce corruption at RDA and save the vague project reports for his boss at State House.

    • Jay Jay – ” Value Management or innovative road materials and designs for highways, motorways or dual carriageways”
Its not necessary for a board chairman to know all this junk! Technocrats will do that job, his is to make sure that they and contractors do their job. period.

  6. Amazing, people never heard of that metaphorical statement “leaving no stone unturned”? That is the equivalent of “making all efforts to ensure that…”. My guess now is that the so-called uneducated Kaponyas are actually better placed to do certain things than the educated theorists and white collar thieves. We want to see to see things happen. Road science is for Chiwala the engineer & CEO.

  7. They will not leave any “stone unturned’, then all roads will just end up with pot-holes and mud .. a durable road needs stones rammed down and not turned over.

  8. “leaving no stone unturned” is a common metaphorical expression in english. Surprised really that people have never met this expression. Wonder what schools they went to. Do people still read novels? I would recommend that some people try to read novels under African Writers Series where you meet Nigeria’s Chinua Achebe, Kenya’s Ngugi wa Thiogo and many excellent writers that delve your mind into the picturesque African psyche and context and situations. Is literature in English still taught?

    • Using metaphorical expressions is a very easy way for people who know nothing to hide their ignorance. Simply state specifics if you know what you are talking about. There are no subtitutes for education and intelligence. By the way, intelligence is not incumbent on education – but education amplifies intelligence.

  9. Wow,Zambia’s got bureaucrats with limited thinking. At a time when Kenya and Rwanda are working on their IT infrastructure we still working on old fashion roads? And even in rds they beat us hands down.Look at spotless Kigali rds or the elevated multilane highways with interchanges they are putting up in Kenya and you’ll see zambia is still in kindergarten just playing like a baby.

  10. My question is why are so backward pa Zambia? What have we been doing all this time? MMD was sleeping for 20 years. Phoenix contractors were owed a lo by our GRZ such that Phoenix relocated to Rwanda. Now we hear Kigali has better roads than Lusaka. Now Rwanda is not as big as Zambia geographically. So Zambia is in need of more roads for connectivity of its huge land mass. We need to be serious and Link Zambia with good road and rail infrastructure.

  11. #16 I have to agree with you. We badly need IT infra-structure in this country. At the moment, Zambia are behind countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, not to mention South Africa. Road building in Zambia is just a way for those close to the government to steal money on over-inflated contract prices. They contractors share the money with government officials. PF is just doing what MMD did. They are building up funds for the 2016 elections. Like school buildings in Zambia, roads are all of shoddy standard and yet they cost so much. Given that Zambian labour is cheap, where does all the money go? Colonial era buildings are still standing while those erected in the 1990s are already cracked.

  12. Build roads which will last for years, not those that go after every five years zambia doesnt have so much rain where roads are washed every year , it is poor work that is the problem and also leaders who choose to steal from their people being corrupted by some crooked investers , that is the case in point in africa , that was the problem with Banda

  13. please make modern roads, stop making colonial types of roads where you put zebra crossings on a high way with a minimum speed limit of 100 km/h. stop putting speed humps on highways. put shoulders on the roads also.

  14. #19 I COULDN’T AGREE MORE ON THE QUALITY AND STANDARDS OF ROADS IN ZAMBIA. OUR ROADS ARE AS THIN AS RAZOR BLADES. THE THICKNESS OF BITUMEN ON ROADS SHOULD BE A MINIMUM 30cm DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION ON USAGE AND GEOGRAPHICAL FACTORS.
