The opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has observed that President Michael Sata has insulted the integrity and trust of all Zambians by stating that people talking about the new constitution should be ignored.

The MMD is of the view that President Sata’s maintaining that the country has a functioning constitution and therefore the talk on the new constitution should be curtailed is a sign of confusion on his part and that of the Patriotic Front (PF) government.

Party president Nevers Mumba has also told Qfm news in a telephone interview that such a statement from the Head of State is also an indication of an impending constitutional crisis that is about to hit the country.

Dr. Mumba notes that the Zambian people have made it very clear that President Sata must deliver on his promise of coming up with a new constitution but that by stating that the country still has a functioning constitution, the Head of State has in effect refused to deliver this promise.

He says by refusing to be held accountable and to deliver this promise, the Head of State is allegedly also being immoral and has further refused to exercise integrity by being a man of his word something that is a key requirement for the office he holds of the country’s presidency.

The MMD leaders says his party is disappointed with President Sata and the PF government and to which demands that the Constitutional roadmap be given to the people and assurance that the constitution will be done within 2014 be guaranteed.

The opposition leader notes that this demand is something most of the people are allegedly ready to be imprisoned for until the people of Zambia are honored for their faith and resilience.

He says this is because his party feels that the entire constitutional making process has been abandoned by the PF government and that it remains for the people of Zambia to decide the next step to take in order to right this alleged wrong.

    • SATA THE MAN WHO PROMISED CONSTITUTION AND NOW TELLS EVERY ONE TO FORGET IT. HE PROMISED EMPROVED WORKING CONDITION BUT ENDED UP FIRING NURSES, HE PROMISED PRESS FREEDOM NOW HE ARRESTS EVERY ONE AND CHARGES THEM WITH DEFAMATION FOR CALLING HIM CHUMBUMUNSHOLOLWA, HE PROMISED FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY BUT CANNOT EVEN ALLOW THE OPPOSITION A POLICE PERMIT TO SHARE THEIR VIEWS, HE PRMISED LOWER MEAL MEAL PRICES BUT KEEP GOING UP – WHO EVER CAN TRUST THIS MAN, NEEDS HIS OR HER HEAD EXAMINED.

    • Sata does “NOT” much to do. !!!!

When the mind is vacant, evil thoughts try to enter very randomly. Evil thinking is the beginning or starting point of Greed, Anger, Hatred, Vengeance and Pride, that has been coming from State House.

If you keep the mind fully occupied, with inspiring and auspicious thoughts. Then evil thoughts will not enter. Because…..

“””” An idle brain is the devil’s workshop. “””””

People that have not much to do, spend so much time on Gossip and Hearsay. This is the reason why State House is always responding to petty, trivial, insignificant issues passing through the window panes.

Just as well, George Chella, has become the biggest mediocre bringing the Presidential Institution to the sewer and gutter.

    • 1.2 # On the beginning of my above blog, I meant to start the line as:

Sata does “NOT” have much to do !!!!

    • Yet another reason why he will only have one term. He has forgotten who put him there. A f00Lish man indeed!!!!!!

  1. Mr. Mumba can take us somewhere except he is Bemba and am tired of Bemba speaking tribes leading Zambia. Viva Eastern Power!!! Viva RB.

    • Austin 2021. People who refer to “20 years of the MMD” and do not acknowledge current President Sata’s powerful role for 10 of these years suffer from self deception or have the brain size of the extinct dodo. Abene Sata are the main architects of unproductive politicking- Sata is the Godfather of ama politics yabupa- ati 20 years of the MMD and you omit Sata’s commanding role and participation…know your history you African otherwise you will have a very dim future.

    • Ba Lazi, this is the big problem.Let’s not talk about tribe now,but capability to lead Zambia.Zambia now needs a Leader who will unite Zambia and remove this tension, bitterness, vergency and hatred which are rampant in the country. We should not campaign on tribal lines

  2. The MMD failed to deliver a constitution in 20 years and they expect the PF to deliver it in 3 years.Even Obama has failed to deliver his campaign promise of closing Guantamo Bay upto now.In my opinion i feel the opposition parties in our beloved country have lamentably failed to come up with real issues despite the PF government having many weaknesses.Let them draw lessons on how the current president used to articulate issues when he was in the opposition. Most opposition presidents portray themselves to be educated but when you hear them articulating issues, they sound as if they are mere grade twelves apart from general Miyanda.

    • Obama hasn’t failed to close Gautanamo bay but Congress has rejected those terrorist to be put in USA prisons as they will have to be under USA legal laws.usa has asked any gov’t in the world for a deal but only 200 have been extradited to some foreign territories leaving behind 140.

    • Please Austin, the PF government has not failed to deliver the constitution. It has refused. Mr Sata now believes the current constitution is perfect, something he apparently couldn’t see in opposition.

    • Ba Austin2021,ba MMD didn’t give us new consistitution hence their exit.PF lied to us that within 90days will have consistitution,so they shoud be men enough to do just that or they too wil be axed soon and be a One-Term Govt.MMD are out,and now the onus is on PF.Let them do better than MMD.But the way things stand now,MMD in 2yrs,they did better than PF.MMD found a run down economy compared to PF who found a better Economic Fundamentals left by MMD-Low maize prices,Low national debt.low exchange rates, low inflation rate,Reserves and the Roads Infrustructure Programme, now hijacked by the PF and given it different names-Link Zambia 8000,Pave Zambia and L400.Let’s appreciate.

  3. What ,how would Zambians do if mcs loses 2016 but refuses to hand over power?,many people will say they will demonstrate, but why are we not doing any practical, determination on the constitution ?its evident that 80% of Zambians don’t care about the country.what mcs and his team want is to bring confusion in the country and rule with an iron fist.the truth of the matter is we are not true Christians as a nation because Christianity entails risking one own life for the sake of others.we need a Mandela, malala,(Pakistan girl),martin Luther king Jr ,type of a figure right now in Zambia.enjoy the dance till kaya

  4. If PF stays in power for 10 yrs Zambia will be worse than Zim, DRC, South Sudan and Somalia combined. Zambians must start to act now. Cycle Mata knows about his lifespan and he has nothing to loose. so its up to us the young to forge the Zambia we want. We can start the Bengazi (Libya) formula.

  5. Yes you always want someone else to do what you are able to do.
Well Mandela is gone, Martin Luther king Jr. gone.
Just rise up and get the freedom your brothers and sisters died for!
Where is THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION you paid for MASSES!

  6. How much does Mumba think he can accomplish when he keeps on throwing soft jabs like this? What PF needs is a first round knock-out punch!

    • The best campaign is to take pipo along with you.Modern Politics is all about coersion/persuation,talking sense(not bufi) and not all the time sounding confrontational and annoyed. So the so-called hard punches may not be very necessary in this modern political environment

    • @Bo Sipopa: Politicians are stage actors. Whoever outperforms the other carries the day. Presently, PF are bullet-proof even with live ammunition. Mere feeble coercion is not the silver bullet an opposition leader will need to dislodge them. That’s mere textbook theory, unfortunately.

  7. Acceptance, rejection, review and eventual date of implementation are a presidential prerogative. If we get the act right, then a good constitution will be enacted. However, if we politicize and ignore government’s concerns and fears behind the cautious approach, then that will lead to unnecessary polarization. Consultation and engagement is always best for the country. The hijack of simple procedures started with fundamental departures from the existing Zambian Constitution. Constitutional amendments can be slow. Therefore, implementing the new constitution in the Second Term is well and good.

    • The stupidity that characterizes the heads of educated illiterates in Zambia stinks to the very heavens above. By looking at this Makasa Kapasa fimo fimo’s name, you can see he is a Northern Alliance Kolwenic Janjaweed and despite education, he is failing to spring out of a tribally bigoted inclination in order for him to clearly see that Sata’s treachery is nothing short of gutless stupidity. No matter how much intellectual spin one tries to put on Sata’s erratic toilet politics, they will still remain stinky!

    • In what discipline do you hold your Doctorate degree. Your inability to think strategically suggests that either its a self given title, your actual name, a title bought from a matero-like mumbai uni, you’ve suffered some serious head trauma that has left you with reduced faculties or its one of those pastoral college doctoral programmes.

Any which way, you and your argument are insipid, weak, pandering, have a distinct “arse kissing” quality, position / promotion seeking quality about it. Sneaking in the second term crap was weak, ‘brown noser’.

Who lectured your “critical thinking” classes and what have you read bwana docotor. Inappropriate jargon doesn’t make you seem literate, except to illiterates. Go read the history of the US constitution, fake Dokota

  8. Sata is a man of action,How can you forget what you used to call him some 2 years ago?He has shown his actions now. Nevers said it up to Zambians to decide if we will continue thinking with our nostrils or brains.

    Thanks.

  9. Too much politicking. What is wrong with current constitution? Is it not functional? Have we not had governments for the last 20 years? Sata is right. Better realised late than never.

    • I think you also believe in father christmas. There are very simple arguments to this debate.
The govt has spent alot of money and time on the draft constitution, why do that when you think the current constitution is good? The president promised to deliever a constitution, personally I don’t know if Mr Sata is a well meaning zambia, if he says one thing today and another tomorrow are we to trust mr man with our country? Why is it the whole of govt at some point was determined to bring a new constitution, knowing well that the current one is fine? You cannot tell me the president who has been in politics for over 20 yrs has figured out now, that the constitution is fine.

  10. Mike knows, you know and I know that the fellow conned us all. The fact is that he didn’t force anyone to vote for him and his goons. You did it willingly, knowingly and even with a huge smile and sense of pride and satisfaction. Fortunately for him none of that matters, all that matters is that it was done LEGALLY! Now we are all stuck with him like herpes, a scar or a memory. Our laws make him your emperor, I’ll duce, furer, kind and god. He is commander of all and follower of none. People expected a benevolent leader and they got a legal despot.

All you can do is whine till Sept, 22nd, 2016. SATA IS YOUR GOD and KING!

His minions are your royalty, you mean nothing past your tax money. You are all screwed and impaled.

Stupid, zedians. Wa lila mvula, wa lila matope! Enjoy it!…

    • @ doctor it is such sentiments that are no. Welcome, under the current effective constitution we all have to wait until 2016.Be mindful of things that you wish for.

  11. Sata is right..Zambia has a constitution which is functional. What is Mumba talking about ? He was Veep in MMD and failed to bring a new constitution. The 50 +1 is a sheer waste of resources in Zambia and i dont support this nonsence.

    • Mr T, your logic escapes me, truly and deeply.

Whenever someone says MMD was in office 20 years and failed to … It makes me think of the redundant nature of their argument. We all know MMD was greedy, self serving and selfish in their actions, that’s what lost them public favour and the 2011 elections. You state that because the MMD didn’t do what they were supposed to PF shouldn’t do so as well?

That’s like saying that your mother, who has been married three times before current to abusive, violent man that beat her to a pulp and was only saved by police that arrested her ex’s and had them prosecuted and jailed, your mum’s current hubby should be allowed to pummel her as well because she never cried foul, herself? Are you hearing yourself and your argument, mon ami? Think…

    • As for 50+1. Kindly, put your case forward so that it may be examined by all and sundry.

In my opinion, with all the 21st century technology available. Printing 16 million ballot papers shouldn’t be a limiting factor. As for allowances and stuff like that, just remove all allowances from the election process. Public servants have “and any other duties assigned” in their employment contracts. Well, this is “any other” national duty. Teachers are civil servants under oath. Let them have this role added to their JDs. Just as we can be all called up for military duty at any time, this is simple. Its only that people have been corrupted into believing that national sevice must be paid for!

All GRZ owned / operated buildings should be designated polling stations, ICT gurus can help…

  12. Sata is a bait and switch kind of guy.He loudly condemned others for what he does today and he knew very well once he gets into office he’d never put in the effort to fulfil his empty promises.Opportunism born in Mpika, nurtured in Lusaka and perfected in plot one.

  13. Now I know why fools (or Kaponyas) make it in life, they will do or say anything without caring, and if it happens to be right, waaaaala!

  14. Mumba must stop acting the Mr. Nice Guy he is trying to portray himself to be. He vied to be a leader of the opposition. His party entrusted him with the responsibility. This is the time for him to come out and demonstrate to the people what kind of material he is made out of.

He sounds like one who is obligated to say what he had to say just because he is a leader of the opposition, and not necessarily that he is horrified by the current stalemate on the constitution.

What Zambia needs are opposition leaders who are willing and able to engage and dislodge the ruling party even if it should mean having their backs scratched in the process. Mumba is only a talk show host who doesn’t sound like he would do things any differently were he to switch sides with Sata.

  15. Has Sata said anything about not implementing the new constitution? Zambians are into the game of misleading each other and getting worked up for nothing. If you really exam what he actually said, you will find that he hasn’t implied anything of the sort. His advise is simply for people not preoccupy themselves with something that is still being worked on or still being tweaked. The present constitution still allows the government to carry out its duties. We are not without a valid constitution. just be patient. What’s the rush?

    • ….something that is still being worked on or still being tweaked……….Why tweak what the people want. The constitution is from, belongs to and is for the people. It is not the government or any party let alone a President that should impose this sacred document on a people. Remember the preamble of this document……WE, THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA……

    • Its costing Zambians millions the longer it drags on and impedes important changes to make Zambia better.Your + Sata’s opinion on this is retrogressive coz you want to impose a culture of accepting mediocrity

  16. The problem is we have focused on minor issues at the expense of national income generation. Copper is being taken and money sent away whilst we are focusing on trivials. Everything we talk about are money eating ventures but why not come up with how to protect copper like Botswana does to its diamonds. Why are we so careless about our copper? It this copper which can help take this country to greater height. KCM is stealing but we are just watching, many others steal but we keep squabling on petty issue. Petty issues have become big national agenda item leaving out copper prominence and what we can gain from it.. Pew!

    • KCM is owned by Vedenta. They and other shareholders are the beneficiaries of the wealth once taxes have been paid. That is the model of free enterprise and the basis on which we invite investors. KCM or Mopani does not belong to the corporate body of Zambians but to investors. It is private property. It is not like ZNBS or NHA or NSCB and other State owned companies like ZSIC (full stop). Thus the shareholders HAVE the right to externalise money as they wish. That is what private enterprise and freedom to contract and do business is all about. This is what we promise all investors including the ones we want to develop the airports and put up power stations!!

    • I agree with you @ Chitalu You took the words right out of my mouth. Forever talking about a document will not put food on the table or bring development.

    • @Floyd Chitalu: Wish you could define what you mean by “minor issues and trivia”? Foreigners have been taking Zambia’s copper free-of-charge for centuries. Is this when it is becoming news?

  17. This trout Mumba is one of the few hanging teeth of a barking dog. Nevers stop dreaming. You are a hopeless pulpit monkey. Don’t try to make the people lose focus. Strategize on where you’re going to find money to borrow for the 2016, 2021, 2026 elections. Then think about how you will pay it back. You’re just a spent shell in the barrel of the political scene.

  18. Nemupatili when i said that the MMD failed to give us a constitution in 20 years of their reign, i meant giving us a genuine constitution that does not discriminate anyone.Remember how KK was barred from standing in 1996 by FTJ through piece meal ammendments to the current constitution or have you forgotten about NCC in 2011,how it miserably failed.Someone said that Obama was blocked by congress over the closure of Gtmo bay but my argument was that a campaign promise was never fulfilled by Obama and yet he won a second term of office. There are always two sides of the same coin and the rest i will leave it to 2016 when Zambians will speak louder through the ballot box because i just have one vote.

  19. It is , I now accept, Sata will president only for one term. His ministers and mps will staft resigning and join Elias Chipimo mid 2015. He will in the worst trouble than any other former Presdent becouse his trial will last less than three months.

  20. *****s insulting nevers mumba are you that dull that you insult even people that are speaking sense this constitution sata is messing with affects even you compound trash people with no vision for the future blindly following a dead man with dead ideas

  21. Is Mumba a scavenger? From a preacher to a politician and to who knows what next? I would have thought he was a prolific preacher back then, but now a repugnant politician. Wasn’t preaching a more honourable calling? Or has he fallen in love with this passing age for a season?

  22. Why are we opposing Mumba’s call at a time when nations like Kenya are kicking out Governors and judges whose conduct brings disrepute, less faith and integrity in their govt? Look at his message NOT the messanger

  23. Dear Zambians.

We all know and remember that we have wanted a new constitution for a long time. It is the politicians we put in power who have frustrated our will all these years. My view is that we wait till a willing party or leader is elected into power. I say this because if the referendum were to be held now the government in power will use all the resources at their disposal to campaign against whatever new constitutional clauses the opposition will support and we know them to include 50+1, ministers outside parliament, dual citizenship, bill of rights, proportional representation and many others some of us hold dear. Yes, let us wait until someone willing shows up. Never mind if it takes 10 more years. We were made to belief the PF were with us in this cause, Alas, they are not.

  24. Michael Chilufya Sata, the dullest president in Africa, if not the world. What an embarrassment. We need an educated, rich, handsome, young Tonga bull in office.
