The people of Western province hold the key in alleviating the poverty affecting the area by electing good and responsible leadership, said opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.

Speaking when he welcomed more than 500 defectors from MMD, PF, ADD, ULP in Mongu, Western province yesterday, 16th June 2014, afternoon at the New Apostolic Conference Centre, Mr. Hichilema maintained that PF was a one-term government.

He called for peace and unity among all Zambians in order to develop the country.

Mr. Hichilema’s meeting went ahead despite police attempts to block him.

It took the intervention of the Barotse King, the Litunga through the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) to order that all the UPND activities must go ahead as planned as Mr. Hichilema was a free man of the province and guest of the Litunga.

Mr. Hichilema urged all those who joined the party to immediately start campaigning ahead of the 2016 elections.

“Don’t be intimidated by the police. Start campaigning now ahead of 2016 elections. In UPND, there are no old and new members. You are all the same so feel free to contribute positively to the growth of your party and recruit more members,” Mr. Hichilema told the the people that joined.

He said PF was a failed project that survives on borrowing and increasing the national and international debt for future generations instead of creating wealthy locally.

“There is more hunger now in people’s homes than ever before. Fuel prices, mealie meal prices, electricity tariffs, water and all other commodities have all gone up and are still going up” he said.

Mr. Hichilema also said there was a total breakdown of law and order in the country as Zambians have now been suffocated by the PF regime that has curtailed their freedoms of assembly, free speech and general deterioration in people’s basic human rights.

“We are always at pains and wondering what legacy Mr. Sata and his PF regime wants to leave the people of Zambia in 2016. One would think that Mr. Sata at 72 or 77 years, whichever is correct as he keeps changing his years, would strive to leave a peaceful and united Zambia for future generations when his time comes as opposed to the current acrimony existing,” he said.

While thanking the BRE for the role they played in Mongu, Mr. Hichilema warned police officers and other law enforcement agencies in the country against carrying out unlawful instructions from dictatorial and evil PF politicians.

“There are no special shops for you police officers and other law enforcement agencies where you buy cheap things. We are all Zambians that should love one another. Even you police officers are feeling the same anguish and pinch in your homes that other fellow Zambians are going through. Don’t be excited when Mr. Sata calls you to execute unlawful instructions that are injurious to your families and other citizens because PF is a one term government,” Mr. Hichilema said.

Meanwile, Mr Hichilema has said that he hopes government’s intentions to start blending fuel in the country will not end up as mere political rhetoric.

Energy, Mines and Water Development Permanent Secretary Charity Mwansa recently disclosed to Qfm News that government will in the next few weeks float a tender for the supplying of Ethanol and setting up of a plant where the blending of fuel in the country will be processed.

But Mr. Hichilema told Qfm News in a phone interview that his party wants the PF government to go ahead and implement the idea considering the high fuel pump price.

Mr Hichilema said that he does not expect the announcement by government to be a mere experiment as has been the case with the many unimplemented pronouncement.

He said that there is need to always plan well before making any policy pronouncements to avoid failure to implement them.

  1. PF maybe a one term govt but UPND will eternally be a ZERO term party

At least we the Zambian people are responsible enough NEVER to elect selfish and tribal fundamentalist in the UPND

    • @ Gen,Speak for yourself, because me and all my 21 colleagues at my work place have decided to back HH. We are tired of mediocrity, corruption, stifling personal liberties, intolerance and general break down of the economy under PF. i can’t wait to write a obituary of PF in 2016

    • HH you are even economical with the truth, even the one term they may not complete it. it could be half term party. hahahahahaha…… people like this 1diot calling himself Gen(itals) above are waiting for a shock of their lives.

    • I don’t think he knows what he is talking about, saying that when you are in Western Province you can say anything and those people like people in Southern province believe anything.

I know on paper they might win the General Elections in 2014, but I really doubt. England is more likely to win the Worldcup than HH becomes the republican president,

      Thanks

    • The key message in HH’s address is that one for the Police. Avoid acting on illigal instructions. Even if it may appear that you are “serving” the boss, you are not “shielded” from the effects of a tyrannical Govt and therefore try your best to maintain the integrity of your institution.
The nations economy is falling apart and all this Govt is concerned about is intimidating the opposition. Harassing HH will not deliver the nation from leadership failure nor upgrade Chikwanda’s failures to put the economy back on track.

    • @Gen, speak for your self. Don’t say “at least we Zambians blah blah”. Rather say “at least the pathetic family ….”. PF is indeed an one term party. You don’t seem to read the mood in the country. Mukaponokwa bafikamba after 2016.

    • Its only UPND which will Deliver to the Expectation of the Zambian.

      I am a UPND.
      Viva UPND Viva HH…..

    • @Anderson Chisala
Dont lie to yourself either. There is no single political party in Zambia that will deliver to the peoples expectations. Lets just seek those that will deliver democracy and slowly strengthen our institutions and allow them to function with integrity.

    • Yes you may sound so, the problem is that you Bembas are fond of jumping castles even when if you see that Sata is the worst of all the Leaders who has ruled Zambia one-sided.
Today as we sat down in town along Katondo street, we had a debate ” who shall take PF if ba Sata will drop in 2016?”
The answer was, if ba Sata today can not stand and speak for more than 10 minutes to a small cloud of people what about going around the Country will he contend the pressure?
The answer was a question which made us to analyze the PF leaders and we have discovered that we have no presidential material in PF leadership apart from Ba Sata.

    • Mr President, count on us. We have witnessed enough. Now it is time you visit us in Northern and visit our families on the copperbelt as well.

  2. If wishes were horses ! Keep on dreaming son PF is here to stay.Meanwhile you can continue investing your money in UPND because you are creating employment for your Mapatizya cadres

    • @Saulosi, not so long ago, three years to be precise, PF thought their dreams were horses. And three years on they are still pinching themselves to confirm whether they are still dreaming. What was you dream yester years, is now UPND’s dream and just like your dream came true, UPND’s dream will surely come true, albeit quicker than yours came true.

  3. This HH has never even projected how many jobs he can create, but he always blames the govt for not creating enough jobs. He has failed to give any projections of what he can chive in a given term. This man can never be a president. From my understanding if the elections were to be held tooday, He can not win a majority vote in lsk, cb, Nt, Lp,Mc p, Est, Cp,
Black Friday by opposition and NGOs failed, now honking is also failing.

    • Don’t say WE,say I, why including some of us, because me and my relatives on the Copperbelt will not vote for PF again experiencing what we are going through now.

    • Its only you and your close family supporting PF. Majority of people in CB including MPs have realised that only UPND will save them.

  4. Well spoken Mr PRESIDENT and i qoute

”PF was a failed project that survives on borrowing and increasing the national and international debt for future generations instead of creating wealthy locally.”

    END OF QUOTE

    • It is only HH being who he has always been that made him accuse president Sata of changing his age! I still have more faith in Sata than this wanna-be president HH!

  5. How I wish Mr. HH had charisma as that of Chiluba or Jakaya Kikwete. What Zambia needs now is a leader who can inspire us to believe in ourselves again and not only trade insults, degrading remarks and so on. Someone who will put the country’s interest first and unlike his personal ego. I look at HH, Chipimo and Mumba, I do nothing but worry and blame myself and many other Zambians for not creating and or even atleast realized one out of the many politicians we currently have. Believe me, HH or Sata after 2016, Zambians will still cry for change. How do you expect people like William Banda who is a big gun in UPND to bring about change?

    China weeps and oberves still.

    • and your alternative is……………. one party state led by Appointed Hon. MP, SC, SG Kabimba? Wow. Brace yourself for a rough ride!!!

  6. Zambia is not developing due a huge number of crazy citizens who think a country can develope in 2 years. changingovernments is not a solution

    • Only a f00 L believes that he will reach the finish line in a race when he facing the wrong direction. In other words no matter how fast or how long it takes, if you facing in the wrong direction, you’ll never reach the finish line.

Your Panga Family can NEVER develop ZAMBIA weather you give them 90 days or 90 years and the sooner you realize that the better. Period.

  7. we are now 50 yrs old as a nation and we have only reached this far but to think hh will bring magic now is a fruitless dream only possible in southern province

    • And your solution is to recycle permanent failures on weekly basis from one position to another? Smart move!!! As you mentioned, 50 years achievements!!!

  8. atleast HH is a decent leader who dosnt hire prostitu-tes to work for him like the way Nevers Mumba did at the high-com-mission in canada

  9. Its is quite easy to point out the escalating prices of essential commodities such as fuel, mealie-meal etc but to propose and implement realistic strategies to remedy the situation has proved to be a far cry for mother Zambia.

It was only and I reiterate, only during the short lived reign of HE Levy Patrick Mwanawasa State Counsel that the whole economy showed remarkable signs of sobriety and recovery in key indicators.

My Hichilema should be wary of making highly inflated promises or else he will find himself in the same trap as PFs 90 days.

  10. If ugly HH fails in 2016, it will be 20 years in opposition, we cannot allow another ugly president in Zambia who does not look after his Hair and dress code.

  11. HH; sorry, there’s no hope for you that you can be Zambia’s president. You haven’t the necessary pedigree for the position. As things stand PF will be at Statehouse for quite a while, definitely for more than two terms!

    • if grade sevens with seven guns to their credit can have your so called pedigree to be in state house what more a masters degree with a chain of economical success?

    • HH Masters holder??????..which university? the chap just corrupted some university abroad to acquire his qualifications. Believe me u he is nothing but a failed politician..ask us we dinny with him everyday. Let him call for convetion u will how he will be chacked out!

  12. Political parties, especially UPND, should not make defections or entertainment
of defectors a central part of political strategy. All citizens including cadres have
a right who to support and vote for. Defectors are a baggage and menace and I
do not think there is anybody yet with a solution to manage them well without
being destructive to what should really be focused on …

If not convinced yet, look at the case of Lameck Mangani or is it Masulani!

  13. HH ni pwetete nebo nshapipe na malushi ayo nebo nshakolope, ifyakulalota nokuya ku state House? Ala fwayeniko bambi. If I remember very well, HH is is campaining in Barotseland outside Zambia where there are no terms of office.

  14. Ka HH akalumendo ka Chunsu mu state house kena teko. Let him continue crying in the political wilderness like a lone wolf. Do not allow him near Plot 1. He has a very e agenda to exclude those he considers having ruled before from the governance of this country. Do not say you were not warned. We know what HH and UPND’s plan is. It is an evil one.

  15. Continue cheating yourselves. UPND is not popular and will never be in Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Copperbelt, Lusaka and Eastern Provinces. You cannot win elections without those provinces. Zambia is not Southern Province where UPND is a tribal party. PF was getting 200 votes when UPND was getting 20,000 in Southern Province.

    • @ Kalimyamunwe

No my friend. That is the evidence of how many “stupid” (as defined by Hon. Kambwili) people believed fake promises.

  16. why people just argue and insult each other on this site. when are you people going to mature, and discuss serious issues of butter n bread, economy development, edecation, healthy and sanitation, jobs and decent accommodation for our people. am tired of HH this and that,Sata this and that. this is not a site to recruite cadres for your parties. show us your big brains and not the narrow tribal centiments which cannot change our lives for the better. whether its sata or hh ruling it doesn’t matter they can both go to hell if they cant change our current lot.

  17. Zambia is bigger than HH and Sata, UPND and PF.and other political leaders. saulois ,mushota, gen and wanzelu should take their battles to bauleni, kanyama ,kapoto, kawama kalingalinga, zambia cmpd, and other shanties. You politicians are the worst enemies of the people ,you promise heaven on earth when campaigning for public offices but deliver hell on us. why is so difficot to give us a constitution which you promised to give us in 90 days.even the right to assemble, freedom of speech. if these things are very difficot for you to give us then we must be dreaming to think that you can improve the economy n provide jobs to our youths.if you are PF the best you do is simply to shut up,and what you promised because you have the power to do it.

  18. pf is a failed project for sure that was clearly based on try and error. will bury u in 2016 and will never exhume it. Ba pf you even fight openly sure re-organise yo house. you directionless ….

  19. PF and UPND cadres just shut up,its up to us the people of zambia to decide which party will govern us in 2016.and these tribal tags you attach to other parties are not necessary.Bembas love PF because sata is Bemba thats why i hear them. There will never be a tonga president thats wat they say.UPND will not be embraced in northern province etc bcoz its a regional party but i dont see that.I have never heard tongas claiming only to embrace UPND and not allow other parties to penetrate southern.Yet those who are tribal point fingers at others.Bembas need to learn how to embrace other tribes and not only their fellow tribesmen.is it not them who preach”one zambia, one nation.”

  20. It is the same thing that has turned pyjamas into business suite. I will never vote for HH come 2016!!! PF 4ever…

  21. PF will continue ruling beyond 2016. UPND is a classical failed project indeed. Architects of this party are gnashing their teeth when they reflect on how vibrant and national the party was in the early years. True cadres of UPND should seriously consider changing top leadership if the spirit of Anderson Kambela Mazoka is to be rekindled, otherwise UPND is a dead giant. HH has spoiled the soup. How can PF be a one term party when more and more people are endorsing it and voting in advance as they witness unprecedented development everywhere? Iyoo cinencine inda kumbali ilaitola nokuitina.

Ati 500 defectors! Okey, let them receive their dues kabili umutaba weshilu ba kombola ilyo lipenenene. Let him go round the country and receive defectors.

  23. I sometimes feel pity for HH’S political strategy because in 2016 am seeing the PF going through. There is no clear policy issues coming out of HH’s campaigns other than hate speech. For instance the UPND has concentrated on the constitution debate, the president’s health and the kwacha without clearly spelling out what they will do should they,by chance, assume power. On the other hand the PF is busy taking tangible development to their strongholds and the spill over to the opposition strongholds.I hope HH and the UPND will not underrate the PF and Sata because they also want to maintain the status quo after 2016.For instance, the PF has already started ‘working on’ the kwacha and president Sata’s perceived illness has always been a topic of discussion over the last 10 years and so what.

    • KEkEkE iam happy yu are fealing the heat from HH.Why do yu panick talking about him if he is nothing?Aleisa aleisa.

  24. @ Sara, You see it is difficult to advise imbeciles like blogger 142. Him what he wants is his candidate HH to rule and insult leaders like Sata. @ 142 will never see anything good in Sata or bembas. All he wants is his fellow Tongas to rule. Look at the bloggers who insult Sata. Wnzelu, Jay Jay, Matipa, dobo, Engineer(Australia), dudelove etc. To them they dream HH, sleep HH, think HH. It is like they are a slave to him. I used to support HH but I have ever since changed to Sata because of the insults from the fellows. They don’t know that in someway they decampaign HH through their lumpenising mentality they have.

  25. If people will vote for development then pf can be the party to vote for, just see how it has done wonders in such a short time in power. You can’t just imagine,

    • Reading lusakatimes is quiet disconcerting because as a nation we still practice tribal poltics ! Zambia is going to fail as a nation it’s just a matter of time …..MMD/PF is for Bemba-speaking tribes in Copperbelt, Luapula and Northern Provinces. Eastern province has always been a member of this camp . UPND Southern province/ Lozi at one point , Lozi at the moment unknown entity because of how successive governments have treated them….UNIP ( Kaunda ) He used the philosophy of Humanism in order to enhance the false image of tribal homogeneity under a single party dictatorship.Chiluba’s MMD refer above! PF (Sata) full blown dictator that has fractured his voting base(Chitimukulu) and GBM …it will cost him dearly at the next election . Freedom of speech is now a thing…

  26. ati what legacy is mr sata going to leave,i would rather have mr sata legacy than this scumbag hh’s legacy full of corruptly stealing privatisation money killiing our pipo in thousands while the chap gets rich. hh and zambeef killed our pipo feeding them with aromatic alderhyde and formalderhyde. hh takes over from dead pipo and not creating his own initiative thats why he wishes ba sata dead. hh thrives on the ignorance of most of his bantustan enclave pipo who cant think or see beyond SP.

  27. All my children say PF will go very soon to dogs and that will be the end of it.

There is presidential material who can take PF ahead after Charles Chilufya Katongu Micheal Sata retires in 2016.
The truth of the matter is that if God makes him reach 2016, he will not have all that power to go around the country if he can not stand in the public and address a rally for 10 minutes as at now.
Like, Kambwili, June, Nchito Mumembe ,Mushota and others think deep and start looking for other options. We know some in PF who are seated on the timing bomb that once it explodes they will find theselves in UPND. They are their to just to warm the seats in the government. Ask Miles Sampa will tell you the truth. That is why he has gone to Northen province instead of Luapula kubenanyina.

  28. HH heard Nevers say I will speak in the morning and speak in the evening and he copied. But what has HH told us about what he stands for? His best strategy is to attack, but would he do should Zambians make another mistake to make another experiment> we dont know anything about UPND and HH. He told Lozis that he will sort out the Barotse Agreement once in power. That is what PF said, promises, no specifics. FELLOW ZAMBIANS please listen to AKA. Dont be hoowinked again. That is what HH is doing. NO MORE EXPERIMENTS!!!!

What about Windfall fax? He just attacks government but he has not said how he will bring Windfall Tax. Zambians beware, this is a Tongo Donchi Kubeba. He keeps promoting MMD by saying PF has caused mealie meal to be expensive and the economy has been…

  29. this opositio even if they ar gvn permit to hold their meeting they ar not able to tell us wat dey il du to grow our economy, create employment and how dey wil develop our country all they do is to insult those in power so its pointless to give permit to people who are threats to a national security. moreover their to selfish how many polical political parties do we av? y cant they make few vibrant oposition parties? n they dreaming to form governmt in 2016 luk at upnd it dosent exist in Np,Lp,LSKp,MCp,Ep can u win an election without these provinces? thats day dreaming
