Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has called on Zambians to set aside their political grievances and participate in the golden jubilee celebrations.
Dr Mwaanga says any grievances that people might have should not affect Zambia’s 50 years of independence celebrations on October 24.

Speaking during radio Phoenix’s Let the people talk programme in Lusaka today, Dr Mwaaanga said those with grievances should find a different platform where they could be addressed.

He said there is need for the country to develop capacity to deal with conflict resolution within and among the people.

Dr. Mwaanga who was recently bestowed with a doctorate of philosophy in conflict resolution by the Copperbelt University encouraged Zambians to exhibit tolerance and to respect each other’s opinion.

Dr. Mwaanga has also urged Zambians to continue working hard adding that it was the only way in which Zambia could achieve economic development.
He said the efforts that started years ago must continue even after 50 years of independence.

The veteran politician said the hard work rendered now won’t only exhibit continuous progress in the country but will also benefit generations to come.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mwaanga has emphasized the need for Zambia to monitor all the major entry border points of the country so as to look out for any possible cases of Ebola.

Dr. Mwaanga further said the country should be sufficiently alert in case of any signs of Ebola which is a deadly disease and has broken out in some parts of West Africa claiming several lives.

  1. Dr Mwaanga is the MOST liberal person in ZAMBIAN POLITICS I ve ever heard.

He has NEVER has been TRIBAL but LIBERAL THROUGH out his political career !!!
You can’t know his tribe !!!

    • Dr Kaunda didn’t care much about tribal affiliation hence appointing ambassador just at 21 years old. He is tonga but who cares. The man served our country with diligent and is one of the most level headed politicians we have so far.

  2. In Sikongo we’ve never enjoyed anything from your stu.pi.d independence. Let those who have benefitted from the joke that is Zambia celebrate.

  3. If only we had even 20 politicians like him and Dr Kaunda, our country would be better because they don’t hold grudges and are more interested in the welfare of our country as a whole and most important irrespective of tribal bull crap. We salute you Dr Venon Johnson Mwaanga as Zambians for you are the epitome of One Zambia, One Nation.

  4. Congratulations Dr Mwaanga on your recognition of political and social contribution made to our nation over the years. Your views indeed deserve to be held in high esteem especially that our nation is slowly being classified in ugly, regional groupings prompted by the current PF regime. You are indeed a living example whose clan, tribe, and ethnicity is difficult to tell. However, some Zambians will be labor to let us know where and which tribe you belong under the disguise of cultural belonging. Every Zambian know that the current regime has been subtle by alleging tribal to others when the PF govt is almost a regional one from statistics recently compiled. That is sad for democracy in Zambia and what you stand for and represent in Zambian politics.
