President Sata greets Defence minister Edgar Lungu

PRESIDENT Sata and the Patriotic Front (PF) Government love and care for the people of Western Province, party secretary-general Edgar Lungu has said.

And Mr Lungu, who is also Minister of Defence and Minister of Justice, says issues of security concern have emerged in Western Province.

“President Sata and this Government love the people of Western Province and want the area to develop at the same pace with other parts of the country,” Mr Lungu said.

He was speaking here yesterday when he addressed scores of PF members who thronged the airport to welcome him.

“I have come here to tell you that President Sata loves you. I am also here to generally check on the security situation,” Mr Lungu said.

And Mr Lungu says there have been reports of security concern in the province.

He did not elaborate further but assured the people that security wings have adequately dealt with the situation.

“Dr Kaunda and UNIP ruled us for 27 years, the MMD for 20 years and President Sata for 3 years, making it 50 years. It has always been ‘One Zambia One Nation’ and it will always be so. Therefore, turn up in numbers and celebrate the golden jubilee,” Mr Lungu said.

Mr Lungu said he is happy to learn that there is peace in the province.

“Government will probe the issue of security concerns and I will visit the King [Litunga] to consult him. If we don’t guard our peace today, we may be talking of violence tomorrow,” he said.
Mr Lungu said the PF will lead the way in celebrating Zambia’s 50 years of independence and urged those wishing to boycott to stay away in peace and not disrupt celebrations.

Mr Lungu has been accompanied by Daniel Munkombwe, Willie Nsanda, Josephine Limata, Evans Lawrence, Ronald Chitotela, Poniso Njeulu and Bridget Attanga among others.

After addressing the cadres, Mr Lungu was scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Litunga and address a rally in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Senior chief Puta of the Bwile people of Chiengi district says he is disappointed AT the continued infighting in the Patriotic Front (PF) which has overshadowed the many development projects the party has done in the past three years.

The traditional leader urged PF party members to give to President Sata chance and peace of mind to execute his duties diligently and fulfil his campaign promises.

“The Zambian people only gave one person the mandate to be President up to 2016, he should be given chance and those who are very ambitious and want to take over should get out of the party and form their own political parties,” Chief Puta said.

    • Lungu doesn’t seem like the sharpest tool in the toolbox.

H is painful to hear from and is trying too hard to please you Zambians, the party and his boss.

The game he is playing is one I have seen all before and it ended in tears.

This was a hillarious, no need , empty, statement that does little to convince he would make a good president.

Where are the leaders PF? This man is clearly overmatched.

      Thanks

    • Zambia, How we let this happen only god knows. Its like letting a Cessna pilot captain a Jumbo jet for the first time and all of us passengers comfortably go to sleep. He can land by a miracle without training. Should we repeat this ever? Only if we don’t care about our lives. Miracles don’t reoccur just like that. God help us. Ohhh

    • Saki Sikota was also given this piece of sh^t by somebody to look like its him.As for those qoutes by Fred M’membe infact all those links given they are not the originators but that been plagialised through & through befor Saki was born.By the way it takes a thief to catch a thief so is Saki a plagiarist..

    • How patronising, “president Sata and PF love you”!

Zambian citizens don’t need love from political leaders, instead they need their leaders to perform their responsibilities. Stop treating adults like they are kids!

    • A different form of love is being shown here, where appointments to top govt offices are obviously bias towards a region and the rest have to watch the match from a distance. Pf show the love by even distribution of power, we are tired of hearing only certain names during news time. DC in some district in WP,…mutale.

  1. Lung u boza. Its good you ve known tht people dont want PF and you are trying by ALL means to grab Western and North-Western Provinces from UPND but it wont be easy !!

  2. He is a presidential material. If you dont heed his advice, then you are as good as insulting the appointing authority, his excellence the republican President.

  3. Its truth the man loves the people of western province! In pFs World things a perceived in the other way different from that the Real World. Just check from the records. In the real world loadsheding is the order of the day but PF minister in Parliament had the audacity to say there is are no loadshedings any more in Zambia, Their patriarch’s health, the man is very fit and hard working in the real world is what we saw in parliament, More developmental project in western province than any other parts of the country yet MUCHINGA is the highest, more money in peoples pockets yet its not easy to have a coin, price of essential commodities are very low yet skyrocketing the list is endless, So when they say the Man loves the people from western province in the real world is simply saying the…

To be poor is a crime.

  7. I hope the people of Barotseland won’t swallow PF’s blatant lies again. It’s time to put their collective foot down and say enough is enough.

    • Barotseland my motherland oh my Bulozi.
Let Barotseland go, enough of this corruption activities by PF. This is not democracy but it is ANARCHY.
Comrade Munkombwe’s shirt even won inside outside as Lungu wears a red hat which is not synonymous with a red Barrett for Barotselanders. These corrupt activities of Lungu, Munkombwe and PF must be condemned by all true democratic people who stand for transparency and justice.
Instead of having a social welfare system, they are busy promoting corruption and anarchy in the country whilst all are watching, bravo to the Zambian Watchdog group for keeping checks and balances concerning the well being of the poor.
Its high time Barotseland was left alone, no amount of corrupt money by PF can stop an issue whose time has come, no.
      You expect a…

  8. if he really loves pipo of Western province, why did he first develop his province the so-called Muchinga? Politicians are just a bunch of lairs; they are after their unthankful bellies

  9. Lies and more PF lies. The people of Barotseland are still bleeding from shoddy PF campaign promises. Once beaten twice shy. Barotseland will be a toss-up in the next presidential elections.

  10. This is a timely request for unity, and aptly it is coming from Lungu. Lungu might not appeal to people who like ‘fireworks, Light, and Action,’ but he is precisely what the country needs at this precise moment.

We do not need a Presidential change at this moment. Zambia is on a precipice economically, we cannot afford to double that to a political precipice. We need stability, unity and above all Discipline. We will have 2016 for all other changes if at all required.

I would appeal to all Zambians to give Hon. Lungu support as he covers President Sata. He is a faithful, dutiful solder, one that will represent the President with GRAVITAS. He might be a bit boring to some, but that is the exact demeanour required in someone who is ‘representing on behalf’. Respect your…

    • Above all Respect President Sata’s choice. He is above all other things a great political player, and does have wisdom.

There is no other person who can be a foil as successively as Lungu at this time because Lungu is intelligent enough not to confuse the role with his own Presidential challenges.

My dear country men, let us walk steadily into our Jubilee celebrations, mindful especially at thus time to be prayerful and draw God near us so we can look forward to calmer waters in the coming 50 years.

We are like spoiled children really. We will succeed must be our collective mantra, and I know we all miss President Sata. We wish him well in his battle. If we keep our mind positive for the future we will ‘become,’ it.

  11. Talk about overlapping roles by these clueless empty tins surely how can one be both Defence minister and acting Justice minister for more than two months. ..at the same time act as President as the deadwood patient in State House is either too sick or too lazy to effectively carry out his own duties.
Imagine two years in govt he has the audacity to make such utterances to the people of WP…really laughable.

    • That means less ministerial staff. There was criticism about having too many staff, so they double, triple areas of responsibility this way.

      Nothing wrong with Lungu.

  12. Zambian politicians are notoriously adept at gleaning everywhere for votes. Here, however, it would seem that PF are attempting a bumper harvest where they only sparingly sowed.

  13. Sata and PF love the people of Western Province exactly the same way a mongoose loves a snake, or Hitler loved the Jews.

    • And so must the beloved people of Barotseland now begin to bask in this glorious reassurance of how endeared they are to our great and impartial president Michael Chilufya Sata and his ever so non-tribal PF party!

    • This is just mischief. The problem here is that they want to secede from Zambia. They hate Zambians not the other way round.

This issue is tiresome, since the West has been part of Zambia all along. Just a few greedy people in the region think they can better garner wealth for themselves.

Should the Region not ask for the UK Gov’t to okay reparations since all these issues were decided during independence agreements.

How far do we go to rectify the wrongs of colonialism. Should tribes in Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa also be allowed parts of Zambia? Should people of the Eastern Province be sent back to South Africa? Should all tribes of Congo be sent back?

It’s ridiculous and it is the correct action taken by the gov’t to send our Defence man we could be at war…

    • See how outstandingly loving of the Barotse people president Sata has been. True to his word, he has built them a university and a world class soccer stadium, a feat no other Zambian president ever did. And as he promised during the 2011 campaigns, he has worked tirelessly to restore Barotse pride through the reinstatement of that historical document – the 1964 Barotseland Agreement!

  14. The Barotse vote is among the cheapest and easiest to obtain in Zambia. Mere blatant lies by any shrewd politician is all it takes to garner in a following there. This has happened time and again in the last 50 years of Zambia’s independence. The Barotse people themselves are seen to be of value, only for their vote and for nothing else. After they cast their valuable vote, they are suddenly stereotyped as tribalists and less deserving of equal worth.

  15. By the way, is LT giving us a picture of Sata and Lungu shaking hands in Mongu?, if not, why does Sata not speak for himself that he loves people in Western province. Lies, lies through all the way to 2016.

  16. mr edgar lungu the best you could do is to go round zambia and give concrete promise that the poor farmers of zambia will be paid for their farm produce instead of teasing the people of western province have you forget already that those pipo where in courts over their demand or you are merely assuring the litunga that you will protect him and compsate those you arrested and charged falsely

    • RB must still be licking his own wounds for thoughtlessly maligning and alienating the people of Barotseland by brutally killing her innocent sons and daughters. Reality must be reality. Reject the Barotse people together with their votes. Politics is never a one way street.

  17. What at a load of bull! When did they ‘fall in love’ with the Barotse people? Do they love all the other provinces equally? This govt. is not intelligent enough to handle the issues of Barotseland. So stop patronising its people and think you can get away with cheap politics that do not assess and work on the underlying issues.

  18. PF had it all in 2011. Nearly everybody loved PF across the country, even among those that voted for other parties. However, the first mistake was to think that it is clever to have only one tribe in the government. The Bembas shared all the ministerial and deputy-ministerial positions. That has resulted in concentrating the same kind of s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y and dullness, with absolutely no form of correction with ideas from outside the clique. Now they are trying to prop up Edgar to show that they believe in one Zambia one s.t.u.p.i.d, yet they just kicked out Kabimba whom they smeared with all kinds of wicked names just because he came from a different tribe. PF has really thanked other provinces in a nasty way, in 2016 other provinces will thank them back!!! Muzakalila bakawalala!
