Chris Katongo begins life after Chipolopolo rejection

Share

2012 Africa Cup winning Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo has returned to action with his South African club Bidvest Wits after being ejected from the Zambia camp last week.

Katongo featured for Bidvest in Saturday’s away goalless draw at Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premier Soccer League match.

The forward was last Monday hounded out of the Chipolopolo squad by coach Honour Janza on disciplinary grounds – two days just before Zambia thumped Niger 3-0 in a 2015 Africa Cup qualifier in Ndola.

Meanwhile, Katongo was used as a late substitute as third placed Bidvest earned a vital away point.

He replaced Sameehg Doutie in the 89th minute in the match Sundown’s Kennedy Mweene kept a clean sheet.

    • I am sorry that I had to contribute to the fall of Chris Katongo. People misunderstand some our blogs here. Chris is not a good player. I mean Team-Player.
This is why I deserve to be nominated LT’s best contributor to society. We gonna win this thing guys, vote and nominate.

  1. Chris has a very bad luck these days, maybe he wronged some people and now they are holding him in their hurts. Chris if what I said is true go back and apologise to whoever you wronged so that they can release you

  2. FAZ did a Kabimba on Katongo. What is even worse is that Kalusha came out the following day commenting as if he wasn’t party to the decision and yet he knew and contributed to the decision. Katongo has died for more than not being a team-player, unless being a ‘team-player’ also means sharing your income with corrupt i.d.i.o.t.s who don’t want to give up power and keep threatening our young boys if they don’t ‘donate’ part of their international allowance. This is the new Zambia.

  3. Keep you heads up. Janza cannot rewrite your history. Give a cow a chance and he wants to behave like a lion. Be strong kid.

  4. There is no need to gloat. One of the biggest reasons we Afrikans hardly make it is we spend too long staring at the closed doors. This release is a blessing in disguise; don’t question it now – move forward. You will eventually see how useful it was to experience it. Free advice that has proven true over and over again. Those who don’t heed it spend the rest of eternity being bitter and staring at the shut door.

  5. To me KATONGO will always be respected. He is the man who lifted the ever awaited cup. Being voted by entire Africa as BBC footballer of the year is such high achievement that will never flashed in the toilet. He may make some mistakes just as we do, but to make him look small and foolish is extremely unfair. lets have regards for fellow human beings.

  6. Katongo can still come back.
But the truth is that he deserves the honour and respect as a Captain of the team that made us proud that year,we all Celebrated,we all enjoyed. Can I ask this question;Do you know what it takes to Captain a Team?
It needs more than being a player.
If Katongo was just a regular National Team player,he wouldn’t even have reached the 2012 but because of his leadership Qualities that he has and had to portray in each and every games.
Tell me the Rule of the Ship and its Captain when its capsize, the captain is the one who should be the last one to leave the ship as such he is on the verge to die first

Perhaps how many Red cards has come out under Katongo’s leadership?

  8. i find certain bloggers demonic. Look at nostra-anus and his dung bloggin about chris katongo. What do you achieve by bringing someone who has achieved more than you and your father have, down? Pathetic pull him down nuts. CK doesnt even know or care about good for nothing hungers around with nothing to do.leave chris alone and work on your futureless life. Why do we zedians develop hatred for fellow successful zedians. You are filthly petty minded.
