PF Government spending doesn’t add up

Share

While the ruling PF continues to busy itself with party rather than state business, and its own members rather than the people, Zambians across the country continue to suffer from a lack of leadership and even basic governance.

Yesterday we heard reports of farmers in Chinsali gathered to demand payment from the PF government. This follows multiple protests across the country in the past weeks on precisely this same issue.

[pullquote]how is no-one getting paid when government borrowing under your watch has sky-rocketed[/pullquote]
Meanwhile Lusaka City Council workers stopped working yesterday after finally tiring of not being paid their salaries.

The government needs to speak to the Zambian people and explain the following.

Firstly, how is no-one getting paid when government borrowing under your watch has sky-rocketed? Secondly, how can you fail to pay these people what they are rightfully owed even when the cost of living is rising so high?

Richard Kapita
UPND Vice-President

  1. Operation Hunger Strike .. keep u hungry so that u’re kept busy looking for something to end the pain in your belly than find time to protest or ..,.,.,.

    • Mr Kapita, this statement is void of knowledge and understanding. Borrowing is not for consumption like paying wages and farmers and council workers .. its for investment spending

    • @1.1: I hope you don’t run your home in the same way. If you cannot meet your daily running costs, then there is no point in borrowing for capital expenditure. Let me break it down for you if you are so slow – don’t buy a car or TV if you cannot put food on the table. Only a PFool does that.

    • Haleisa Halelanda

I see you fail to see the link

When a nation borrows to build infrastructure it simply means the government has checked its books and there is enough to meet the national demand and pay off the loans at the same time.

Now PF is borrowing when there is not enough locally and no one can justify the borrowing. How will the debt be paid when we cannot pay farmers and workers.

      PEOPLE DO NOT EAT ROADS

    • Hey PF cadres hold your fire! These are visible PF failures .

Which ever way you look at this case, the government is at fault here. Going by what the PF cadres are saying, Is it ok for the mines to skip salary payments because the government does not pay the miners directly? the answer is big NO. Government is voted into power to help the people out of any desperate situation they may face by intervening and making sure that citizens are protected from all vices that would make them lose income and go hungry.

It boggles mind that each time the PF is held responsible to account for its failures the PF cadres rise to defend the indefensible.

Which ever you look at it, the council workers know and believe its PF ‘s fault that they are not getting paid period.

      Evidence for HH…

    • PF cadres; who are you blaming for this mess? If you are mad you will blame it on the opposition.

How ever if you are normal you realise that these are the failures in PF’s leadership across all sectors of economy HH is talking about to the voters. The fact that voters are actually experiencing these failures first hand, is the reason why even today people will turn up at HH’ s rallies in huge numbers.

Lusaka council and indeed most of the councils in the country are under the PF ‘s leadership. If the councils are failing then PF leaders are to blame and no one else.If councils are failing to raise money , still it is sign of PF failures to do a good job.Reality on the ground is, PF top cadres have signed deals with property owners to avoid paying rates by giving them bribes…

    • PF ‘s failures;

      Farmers not paid.
      Students not paid.
      Council workers not paid.
Soldiers and police owed operational allowances.
Very soon nurses and indeed all civil servants will not get paid because PF is using the money for campaigns.

So all of you in missions abroad, tighten your belts as salaries will be not be there come january.

Zambia is experiencing a situation similar to Zimbabwe and yet, its not under any sanctions.

Only HH and UPND can solve this mess.

    • If kapita and his upnd cronies cant comprehend the simple mechanisms in application of of funds, how on earth are they expected to manage the complexity involved in the running of govt?

Govt has not borrowed for consumption but for investment in things like education, health, agriculture, road infrastruture, energy and power generation…etc

You were vehemently opposed to contruction of universities in muchinga but out of desperation for power you now are promising the people to complete their construction.

Who tells you PF has abandoned the project?

      Ba kabalwe imwe

    • PF never stops exposing their stupidity and f00lishness day in day out.

If it was a private company that has failed to pay its farmers, the f00lish kambwilis, and Shamendas would be on ant hill shouting and threatening the company bosses with deportation.

But when its one of their own top PF cadres failing to ensure that workers are paid their salaries, they all hide in f00ls paradise and shift the blame to others who not even in control.

PF is visibly a curse on Zambia which needs to be got rid of come 20/01/14 and replaced with UPND the most organised party with a clear agenda for moving Zambia forward.

Only HH will restore Zambia for the better.

    • @Big L

Debate real issues why PF should continue to rule Zambia not spewing rubbish and denying credible bloggers prime space to debate real issues.

Of late I have noticed that, real PF pundits like Saulosi, Gen, et al have disappeared into their cocoons because they have totally nothing to defend PF’s record with. Even then, they have refused to sink low like @Robin, Katondo,Truth hates, its a worry, etc by avoiding blogging irrelevant things.

  2. richard kapita sometimes talks like a grade 7, surely cant he see that areas requiring fundin ve increased while him and his fellow cartel group are no longer remitting taxes. Richard just for 20th jan when you and i vote in ‘edgar umwaume lungu’ as 6th presida, things ll get back to normal again.

    • Things will never be normal under Vodka Chakolwa Lungu. He is part and parcel of the current mess and expect even worse since he will be trying to follow a dead man’s that is not written down and nobody can consult Sata. We have to get rid of the current mad and thieving regime.

  3. “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

  4. Whichever government that will be ushered into power will not put food on your table; it is you as an individual to work hard on your own. Fifty years of independence and false promises to people all the times we have elections. Awe mwandi. Only the Heavenly Father will save us.

    • The farmers were trying to put food on their tables. They thought they could sell to FRA and be paid – only to be mugged by their own govt. What do you say to a govt that robs its own citizens? Salvation will come at each person’s death or when Jesus returns but in the meantime people have to survive. Is that asking for too much?

    • It is up to an individual to work hard and put food on the table. However, the government has a role to play in creating employment. Either using investors or the local business community.
Presently the atmosphere in the country would not attract investors. Corruption also has an effect on job creation. Sadly in Zambia now jobs are rarely given on merit because it is who you know. The private sector is better.
You see so many men just loitering doing absolutely nothing. Hanging around businesses. Why can’t they stay at home?

  5. No matter the propaganda. And no matter what d lone wolf guy scot tries to do statistics to win still favor PF. NOT EVEN POLTICAL PROPHETICS from Mufulira will change the inevatible.

  6. Religion is designed to focus the people’s attention and energy on a single, unchanging, uncompromising and invisible supreme being who allegedly created an inferior human race just for some extra companionship and love for himself and then supposedly foisted a set of oppressive and in some cases arbitrary rules on them, which if broken would be met with unimaginable punishment.

This keeps the followers in a continuing state of fear and compliance.

  7. Misozi, are you saying farmers who dont have food on their tables because govt hasnt paid them did not work? Council workers who have not been paid for months dont work hard, lets be serious in our contributions. We know you may be a PF sympathiser but lets tell our leaders the truth.

    • growing maize with the government as a sole buyer of your produce is wrong at all levels,. its wrong for an entereprenear and its wrong for your own planning..

    • Iwe council workers are not paid by government directly. the government gives grants to councils and how they decide to use that money is not government business because they are independent.it is LCC and its management that is responsible for the salaries of its workers. do your homework before you begin to criticize government. as for you Mr. Kapita farmers will be paid their money government has not robbed them do you even understand what robbing is?

    • @ the philosopher

Do your research before rushing to respond to a genuine complaint. What do you mean council workers are not paid by government? Why do presidents appoint district commissioners? Why are councillors running councils? Why is Mulenga Sata a PF politician the Mayor of Lusaka? You mean you are so blinded by loyalty to PF that you can’t even see these connections? Have you ever even seen the national budget and how it looks and how councils are funded? But imwe ma Zambians you shock me: too much in the mouth but ZERO in the brain. You talk too much without thinking. That is why you have suffered for the past 50 years because of your dullness. Even simple facts like these you can’t check them out? Use your head, it is not just for carrying your blind eyes and loud mouth.

    • In this case the farmers did their best to put food on the table but they have swindled by the government who didn’t pay them. This situation will have an impact on next years harvest.
      Were commercial farmers paid?
In Zambia the subsistence farmer contributes largely to the countries’ needs.

    • Some comments just don’t make sense
How can someone tell people that having govt as the sole buyer is wrong????/ This is Zambia

  8. The main method by which Christians in particular are trapped and deceived is with the messiah or saviour story. This is linked to the ‘original sin’ story which is designed to impose a large amount of guilt onto the whole of humanity. The believers are then so grateful that they have been saved by the son of God nearly 2000 years before they were born that in some cases they abandon all reason, logic and good judgment to obey and worship this god and his son.

Anyone who believes this story is indeed lost because to believe that a god would send his only son to help us, only to see his son get tortured and murdered, and then instead of unleashing all his wrath, simply absolve us from all crimes past and present, is pure madness to say the least.

Where is the lesson for us in…

  9. I won’t even lie. My news radar is firmly set on watching a different camp but figures in Zed have never added up.

We have a good understanding of unfair equations though and regularly feel minus joyful about it. Why don’t you guys get back to us with a more substantive plan and show how you have charted your spend. In the meantime… I have to get my coffee fix and adopt the MJ thriller popcorn pose. Chuckle.

  10. this what kapita is saying is hard for pf members to understand really how do you fail to pay some one you owe. its crime . by the way where is human rights to come to the aid of unpaid farmers , workers and those tazara workers who have gone for months and years without their payment. get the reality of issues dont just oppose you mother ****ers.

    • It’s not kapita, it’s Kalaba. My friend Kalaba is a dismissed Catholic Priest. Find out more from the Catholic church of Zambia.

    • Don’t worry my friend, it would take a miracle to beat the level of dullness in the PF cabinet and PF as a whole so your record is safe.

  11. NIX kalaba has never been a catholic priest and nowhere in the catholic church records in Zambia is it written that he was ordained priest. he was a seminarian for some years but was never ordained priest in the society of the missionaries of Africa. Learn to say the truth

  12. its unfair to support a government that does not care for its citizens . look what is going on of resent farmers throughout the country have not been paid from august todate december. workers go without pay for months till they strike and tazara workers have gone for a long long time without payment , the government only minds about roads where they get tips from contractors as revealed by the minister of finance. when we say we want change we really mean it cos of the pf failure to look after the people who voted them in power.

  13. What you bloggers don’t know and realise is that what you post on this website do make the sober minded people in Zambia to gauge the the calibre of the people that are supporting a particular person and what you expect after that person wins
Am sorry to tell you that, the lies, insults, innuendos that you post here decampaigns you. Don’t cheat yourselves that the rubbish you post here add any value to your party, never; and get that straight. You are decampagning yourselves.
Mind you politics is about strategy; and if you don’t know how to strategise in politics you are down with it.

  14. Can we please have some accounting statements from this PF Government to inform us exactly how many millions of Dollars all the “MEDICAL TOURISM” for Sata cost the Zambian taxpayer???

This time we want the TRUTH, not more PF lies.

No more donchi kabeba to hide stealing of public money!

  15. I DON’T SUPPORT UPND AND HH BUT FROM NOW I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND, FOR SURE EDGAR IS NOT A PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL.THE POST AND SCOTT ARE CORRECT.
