Today’s Message: Seeing What Is Unseen

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

(2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God wants you to focus on the good things He has for you, which are far greater than the things you can see around you.

Unfortunately, too many people give up when they face tough times. They stop expecting anything good to happen. But the truth is, hardships and trials are really opportunities for you to go higher. Whatever struggles you’re going through right now, no matter how large or small…they are subject to change.

God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Your health may not look very good today, but it’s subject to change. You may be out of work today, but that’s subject to change.

Your finances may look dismal today, but that’s subject to change! You may be struggling in your relationships or marriage, but that’s subject to change too! No matter what your circumstances might be…you can experience real positive change when you look to God.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

God, it’s so exciting to realize that the hard circumstances in my life are subject to change. Help me to keep on trusting You as You work out Your good purposes in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

    • @Zig, So all Zambians will be rich today. That Joel will never ever think that Zambia does exist. The only people in his prayers are white people.

    • Realize that you only fear Hell because you were indoctrinated with it, especially true if you were indoctrinated as a child. If you are lucky like me, in time, these fears will fade. One day, you’ll clearly see how utterly ridiculous the garbage you had been taught is.

  1. lunacy at its best!!! chiristianity is simple sun worship!!!! Jesus is the personification of the sun. Take the bible and analyse all the descriptions of jesus and see if they dont match what the sun is. evry single verse about jesus and his work is the exact description of what the sun is. i dare anyone to challenge me with a verse in the bible about jesus that cant be equated to the description of the sun. i assure you, you wont find any!!!!

    • Don’t get mixed up my friend, the sun is only a small reflection of Christ’s glory and splendour. You and I cannot even directly stare in the sun, nor let it’s rays shine into our eyes. What more when we stand before Christ in His ultimate glory???

He is much much more than what you classify him to be. He hold the sun in His hands! Just saying.

    • ba nine chale. where was jesus between 12-30 years. where are the missing 18 years? why did he start his ministry at 30 and ended it at 33. ever heard of the precession of the equinoxes and the zodiacal signs. all religions are developed from the northern hemisphere. thats why you celebrate thanksgiving in october when it is harvest time for the northern hemisphere yet you in the southern hemisphere its just the preparation of the land for planting season. so what thanksgiving would you give? dried fruit or corn? evidence is everywhere my friend, you just have to be curious and ask questions.
The key to change, development is the Question. the answer is just the means!!! learn to ask questions for your mind to grow.

    • @ 2 Zagaze

From my brief survey of the Scriptures, I am discovering that, to many people, Jesus is a stumbling block and a rock of offense, upon which millions stumble and fall. You are not alone, nor are you the only one to have thus stumbled. You are just one among millions who stumble on this rock and fall. Read Rom. 9:33; Isaiah 28:16 and Jer. 6:19 – 21.

Contrary to your hypothesis above, the real Jesus is God incarnate. He became flesh and dwelt among people, people who were witnesses to the glory He had and the miracles He used to perform. He is real and still changes lives today. He can change yours too, should you want Him to.

    • Mei Katungu, i appreciate your concern for me as a person. it is as should be, brothers carrying about their fellow brothers and sisters. however, when you find the answer to my challenge let me know. Yes lives have been changed by so called believers just like lives of criminals have changed for the better because of their belief in stealing, pillaging etc. So its just about yourself and what you accept for your life; thats what makes a difference in your life. Its not about an interventionist God doing things for you. You can pray all you want but without self conviction in what you pray for, jesus is not going to answer. the metaphysical world does have an effect on us, but dont mistake it with belief in a deity in the skies with a big old white beard.

    • Mei Matungu.. The thing with Christianity is that there are so many unanswered questions. Did you know that what you just said about Jesus being God himself is not biblical? If you look in the bible and also study the history of the early church fathers, you will realize that Jesus was considered a man (the Son of God), not God. Trinitarianism and the whole trinity theology was adopted from Greek mythology and paganism. If you go back and study the history, you will see that people that had been exposed to Greek mythology introduced erroneous doctrines that had not been heard of even from the early church fathers. Calvinism and various theological views began to develop. People like Michael Servetus that denied the trinity were murdered or exiled. This was a strict society that required

    • @ 2.7 Decisive

Decisive, the world has never and will never run short of false prophets, false teacher and blind leaders. These exist to mislead the gullible. Contrary to your assertion, both the Old and the New Testament Scriptures are factual regarding the nature of the Christ. It was on July 4, 325 AD that the Council of Nicaea took an official position on this, establishing the creed that we still espoused.

I cannot deny the existence of diverse views on the subject. Indeed, long before there was a John Calvin, Martin Luther and Jacobus Arminius, there was Arius and Athanasius. And long before there was Arius and Athanasius, there was John and Paul; before these, the prophet Isaiah and others, and before Isaiah, David and Moses. Check it out for yourself.

    • @Mei Matungu.. Absolutely, false prophets have and will always exist. Now for the Council of Nicea, the creed included the existence of God as a tri-une being. Again these views where adopted from Greek mythology. Then the over 300 religious were intrusted with compiling books to make up the bible. Some texts that opposed their philosophy were discarded, and thus the bible was made. You have to understand that at this time, Christianity in Rome and Europe had taken a massive divergence from the theological views that were prevalent the immediate years after the death of Christ. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the majority of views you as a Christian holds were shaped by Calvin, Luther, John Edwards, Puritons and others who would have been considered heretics during the time of early church.

    • @ 2.10 Decisive

Decisive, you are attempting an impossibility – trying to re-write Christianity’s two thousand plus year of history in Europe in a single paragraph!

We must note first that, for hundreds of year, it was considered a crime merely to be a Christian in Europe. Christianity finally got accepted as a state religion in the 4th century. Hundreds more years passed. During the Medieval period abuses entered the church. This culminated into an outcry commonly known as the Protestant Reformation.

The idea to translate the Holy Scriptures into the language of the common man on the street was born out of that ire. The Reformation in that sense was a necessity. Was it perfect? No. Though not perfect, however, it was a good thing and ought to have continued.

    • @Mei Matungu.. I’m merely pointing out the foundation of most christian doctrines and how philosophical differences likely impacted the compilation of different manuscripts to form what we now know as the bible. For all we know, the bible might be incomplete. The scriptures themselves are considered hard to grasp thus, one goes into the bible with a preconceived ideology or philosophy, and interprets the text off of that. That’s why there are so many different views OSAS, penal substitutionary atonement, Calvinism, Reformed theology, Arminianism, Pentecostalism, continuists, cessationists, and so on. Now why would God be the author of such confusion?

    • @ 2.13 Decisive

Decisive, you have so aptly stated the reality regarding what took place to bring about the confusion we see in Christianity today. But where do you, yourself stand? What is your position? Do you have anything better to offer? I would like to hear your views – if not on this blog then may be via email: [email protected]

  2. Good message about hope and faith. It instils hope and faith as exemplified in Hebrews 11. By faith we understand that the Universe was formed by God Almighty. Awesome!

    • Deliverance from what exactly kikikiki?
God is cruel and mean!!! you mean because i dont believe in his words, he will burn me forever and ever infinitum in hell? How cruel is that!!!Just because i didnt believe? And you say he is merciful? i can assure you in this sense, human beings are saints compared to this God then my friend

  3. They miseduacate you. You love them more than you love yourself and your race. I say you are an ignorant f**l, when you believe in things without physical proof, you need to wake up and stand up. -Malcolm X

  4. During Slavery, if they didn’t give the black slave good education, good housing, good food, good clothes. Why did they give the black slave “good” religion?

Wake up my people; lack of knowledge of self will be the first thing that will distroy you!!

    • @ 7.2 Jay Jay

It is complicated because like Islam, Christianity has undergone a lot of abuse. History bears record that people have used Christianity as a license to commit all sorts of atrocities against fellow human beings – atrocities such as the one you are talking about – slavery. It thus becomes easy for someone with an analytical mind like yourself to find basis for rejecting it. However, when you do that, you are throwing the baby with the bath water.

It is not easy to find a way to defend Christianity. It has been abused. It’s still being abused.

    • @ 7.2 Jay Jay

Further, it is complicated because, notwithstanding its many defects, Christianity is also not easy to throw away.

  5. The way things are going, there is very little to separate pastors from their counterparts who are witchdoctors. They operate the same way and the first God they worship is money, if you see what I see. They would assure you that there is no sin or crime that their father cannot forgive or wash away if the price is right.
It’s is all about greasing the pastors hands with money and the willingness of the “blindfollower” to pay. Whoever pays the piper calls the tune.

    • @ 9 Mwenso

God has never been logical. He does not intend to. The moment He becomes logical, He ceases to be God. The logical thing to do when one is setting up a fire is to get dry grass and dry wood. Elijah ordered that buckets of water be poured on the wood. With the wood all water logged, God set up the fire! What was the logic of taking the children of Israel via the Red Sea when they could have travelled by land from Egypt to Canaan? As it turned out, they had no boat with which to cross the Red sea. But the illogical God made them cross the Red sea on dry ground!

God makes the wise foolish and the foolish wise! What was the logic in promising Abraham a son and then keep him in suspense for all those years? Any logic in Him asking Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac?

  6. Whatever god or gods might exist, he/she/it/they are *NOT* the Christian bible god.”

I think this is the beginning of wisdom, not the fear of the Christian bible god as I was taught.

    • God talks to some people. Unfortunately, he always shuts right up with the appropriate medication. That’s how you know it’s schizophrenia, and not any god after all.

    • @ 10 Brainwashed

Strange to hear. You sound totally flabbergasted with “the Christian bible god,” as you have chosen to call Him.

  7. Why would an all-knowing, loving god bring people into existence, knowing that so many of them would suffer forever in Hell?

    • @ 12 Skeptic

That “suffer forever in Hell” is a false doctrine – one of Satan’s best, designed to make God look bad in the eyes of people with analytical minds like you and me. There is no such a thing as an eternally burning hell.

  8. You don’t have to understand everything about something or someone for it to be real or true.

Do you understand Air? Or Wind? It can’t be seen, can’t be touched, it can’t be stored, but it’s effects are visible for all to see.

Even water which is at least visible. Do you understand it? No taste, no smell, no colour, no shape, but soothing and life saving. And useful in so many ways. Do you understand it? Why won’t things grow without it? How is it stored in the sky only to fall as rain?

Don’t you wish you had the answers? Well I do. GOD!!!

    • Simply ridiculous! If you were proficient in science, you would understand that air is made up of air particles and molecules. You need a powerful microscope to see the molecules. And of course, air can be stored, it feels every available space, that why you need to pump air out to create a vacuum. And come on, things don’t grow without water because that would inhibit processes such as respiration. That’s a very shallow argument for the existence of God. Does something need a shape and color to be soothing? The unlearned always attribute the things they understand not to God. Open your eyes, read a book!!
