MMD Presidential Candidate, Rupiah Banda, has been sworn in as Zambia’s fourth Republican President.

Mr. Banda took oath before Chief Justice Ernest Sakala at a colorful ceremony held at the parliament buildings in Lusaka on Sunday afternoon.

The swearing in ceremony was also attended by foreign dignitaries, who included presidents Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Malawi’s Mbingu Wamutharika and Kgalema Motlanthe of South Africa.

Former presidents, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and Dr. Frederick Chiluba were also part of the several guests that attended the ceremony.

MMD supporters clad in their party colours sung and danced to celebrate their victory in an election which

was tightly contested.

And in his inaugural speech, Mr. Banda called for unity in the country and extended an olive branch to losing candidates, especially Patriotic Front leader, Michael Sata.

Mr. Sata has rejected the results of the election claiming the poll was flawed.

Mr. Banda stressed the need for unity after Thursday’s presidential election, saying he does not want to govern a divided nation.

He said the election should unite the Country for the common good of citizens.

In his speech, has pledged to fight poverty and transform Zambia into a middle income nation.

President Banda who spoke shortly after he took oath as Zambia’s fourth President, observed that many Zambians have been excluded in the sharing the Country’s economic prosperity.

He described poverty as demeaning and an unnecessary evil.

The president said he is determined to empower Zambians through education and employment creation during his reign.

President Banda also pledged to transform Zambia into the hub of Southern Africa.

He further stated that he will continue the fight against corruption and observe the rule of law.

  5. He who laughs last, laughs the best. I will stand back & not remind the people of this country that they should have done better. Zambia has finally gone down drain.

  6. THE RETURN of Plunderers. The Thieves have bounced back in grand style. Expect Chungu to arrive in Zambia next week. All that LPM wasted his presidency on wasted and I see the smile in Chiluba and VJ. Let the show begin

  7. even the congo rebels know when they are being used by the chinese , congratulations you elected another tool to be used in the extraction of all your resources at low low chinese pricing !

  8. Congratulations. We mark you words and pray to God that you live up to your promise.

I quote “He further stated that he will continue the fight against corruption and observe the rule of law.”

  9. #3 Shimaster I totally agree with you. Just look at KK and FTJ in the photos. Their looks have a lot to tell. I think this is more of KK and FTJ’s victory than H.E. Himself.

  10. 10, you are right, all what levy laboured for goes down the drain, chiluba, see the smile, 2 weeks ago teta said chiluba is innocent until found guilty, he knows now that finally his cases will be droped, and will make sure he occupies some space in mmd, what a shame, and that man mugabe, invited while everyone thinks is a retin, lupiya has lost it, first day in office, wrong decisions.

  11. THE WINNER HERE IS NOT LUPIYA BALANDA, THE WINNER IS FTJ, VJ AND KATELE KALUMBA, LOSERS INCLUDE HH, SATA, IS NOT EVEN A LOOSER CHIPUBA CHILYA JUST TO BE USED AS A PON.

  12. 19, I AGREE, THERE IS NEED TO PRIVATIZE THE GOVERNMENT, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THE NEXT 3 YEARS WILL BE WORSE, NO BIG BROTHER LEVY WATCHING, TETA AND MULONGOTI WILL NOW BE SINGING AND THREATENING, MAYO TWAFWA IFWE NOMBA, THESE POLITICIANS, ARE A BUNCH OF THUGS WHO SHOULD BE OVERTHROWN.

  13. Easy guys…easy bola panshi.. just retrieve what you said when Levy was sworn in then you will know that sometimes its better to wait. I guess the first press conference will tell us a lot e.g who will be the Veep…

  14. The problem is even if we wanted change there are no credible leaders so we gamble with wats available.(the recycled material). The country has gone to the worst.i cant see the diference between zimbabwe and zambia and come 2011 the country will be a dry desert. the counrties that have had war will pick up and lead us in development.this is really sad, scramble for zambia.

  15. hey guys its all over now.again our country is going to be rough.why is the question we should be askin ourselves.today i have entered the race.am already a member of the party only this time am going in deep.i can not just sit and wacth.the best thing to do is when the new voters row is prepared lsk/kabwe and the c/belt should be in the forfront to register as this is the only kalabo, shangombo, kasempa will be put to rest and that rural vote wont make any sence.we pay for everything they use and its never fair that they shuld be the one to in the driving seat.ba tata sata we still need you.lets us show the world we can do it.

  16. It looks like Chiluba has already purchased his freedom. Sad! One wonders where we will be heading to from here. Where do we go from here? By the way, were they dozing???

  17. Rb should begin with forgiveness and reconciliation.. Chiluba should be forgiven, former presidents should reconcile, and RB should not revenge on anyone who was against him during the campaign. The task force on corruption should be abolished and more authority given to the ACC.

  18. This man wont last. Here comes a political assassin. They will drop down one after the other beginning with VJ. Watch those roof tops, trees, taxis and crowded places. Don’t be caught unawares. It’s time to clean our nation

  19. i cant wait to see who will be VP and cabinet lineup.baza payana mu MMD.im worrid of what will become of my country,

  20. LUPIYA SHOULD BE WARNED THAT SATA IS NOT A THREAT, BUT MAESTRO FTJ AND IF HE SHOULD START BRINGING PIPO LIKE CHILUBA IN HIS LIFE WILL LIVE TO REGRET, I STILL REMEMBER WHILE I USE TO BE IN ZAMBIA WHEN FTJ ONE TIME BRAGGED THAT I NEVER KNEW POWER WAS SO SWEET, FROM THERE SATA AND HIS MINIONS STARTED THIRD TERM CAMPAIGN, NOW TODAY IN BACK, THE MASTER DRIBBLER IN BACK WALKING ON A RED CARPET IN A MILK WHITE SUITE, LOOK AT HIS SMILE, THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW UNIP PARTY AND THE NEW MMD PART, UNIP + MMD, THE ANSWER IS PLUNDERING.

  21. shame! shame shame on us so this our choice surely zambian we are not expected to say anything, coz this is our choice by vj

  22. 33, YOU ARE MY NEIGHBOUR, GO BACK TO ZAMBIA AND SORT OUT THE NONSENSE, FOR MY SELF I CANT I HAVE ALREADY CHANGED MY CITIZENSHIP.

  23. @25 – Mwanjawantu – I agree – let’s wait and see. These criticisms are no different to those levelled against Levy when he assumed power and he proved people wrong.

  24. HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF IN ZAMBIA POLITICS:
AT INDEPENDENCE KAPWEPWE WAS THE LIKELY FIRST PRESIDENT BUT FOR HIS RADICALISM, KAUNDA GOT IT AS UNIFYING FIGURE TO TERM THE TENSION BETWEEN NKUMBULA-KAPWEPWE.
CHILUBA GOT IT FROM NO WHERE, HE WAS NOT EVEN AT THE FOUNDATION OF MMD BUT WAS CALLED IN. SILVER PLATE.
CHILUBA GAVE TO MWANAWASA ON SILVER PLATE. WHO EXPECTED LEVY TO BE PRESIDENT?
NOW RUPIAH BANDA, GOT FROM HIS FARM, MWAMUBALAFYE UMWINE. HE IS NOW PRESIDENT.
WHERE DID ALL THOSE WHO ASPIRED GO? KAVINDELE, NEVERS MUMBA, MAZOKA, TILYENJI, MIYANDA ETC.
I ASSURE YOU NON OF THEM, NOT EVEN HH WILL MAKE IT IN 2011. YOU ARE YET TO SEE SURPRISES

  25. Zambia under Levy may have made 1000 steps towards good. Believe you me people, we are seeing the beginning of a high speed descent into chaotic management of mother Zambia. VJ, FTJ and the likes have a high likelyhood of establishing themselves powerfully within the ranks, albeit behind the scenes. Talk of Nevers Mumba and the flock he is leading of those who have abandoned their parties without shame, they will be looking for ‘the benefits’ of their labour. This path doesn’t look straight. God help us.

  26. I was there and RB has pledged to fight coruption. we may resusitate SITET to replace the Task Force on Corruption . Sosa sosa ichalo chele kumfwa slogans reemerged at the inuaguration ceremmony.

I think Mugabe was invited for him to learn that elections should be swift and done in accordance with the peoples will. Imagime we had results from 93 constitunces – 24 hours after the elections. Viva Zambia and we us respect God’s will.

  27. chiluba never used to attend state functions when levy was alive, what has he been promised by banda for him to attend this time around

  28. Indeed thanks to the Lord Our God for the peace. Two things need to be learned from this 1-we need to have a succession plan in place no matter what.only hope the NCC will aim to address this one way or the other.2-As long as the two major opposition parties continue to work in disunity the rulling party will carry the day form a pact for change man!!.But above all this, VIVA mother Zambia as we set the tread in central africa.

  29. time to look at the nonsense and analyse while the poor pipo who voted for MOVEMENT FOR MASS DESTRUCTION (MMD) will continue suffering, there is a thin tissue between poverty and madness.

  30. Congratulations to President Banda, may peace and prosperity prevail in our beloved nation!
Commiserations to all PF supporters on the sinking of the titanic. I hope the party leader will regroup and ‘elect’ their next leader.
Commiserations to all UPND supporters (myself included). We know our weak areas and hope we will work on them in readiness for 2011

  31. We told u .The ruling party wud win. Am so relieved , cant imagine the embaracement of having a thug en grade 4 dropout as prsdnt. congrats 2the rural voters4 saving us. U just saw a glimpse of satas thugery en luck of manaz at micc ysday.Plz cage the thug. Maybe he is ored run2 the bush. Were is he

  32. 48, who is winning formular 1 i was watching Bolton v. Manchester city, 2-0, chiluba is now a happy man, even though PF has lost at least chiluba is now liberated and chungu will be back, ola the looser is not PF but lupiya balanda.

  33. This will be the saddest day in our history. The thought of unip at state house! Tilyenji as VP? We need a hitman! Watch those rooftops. The villagers should not b allowed to rule! Code- red, scorched earth!

  34. To all our team members that have driven this crusade to fruition for the common good we say salutations and bravo! Together we framed the agenda, primed it and launched ith with discipline, tact and tenacity well coordinated in ground, air and cyber wars to this finish line.We set our eyes on the ball and ignored abberrationists and deviants of insults, malice and prophesy of failure.Impeccabbly we we run a good fight and have won it with pride for democracy and the country. To our opponents who have failed short of,we salute you all and extend an olive branch in best national interest.Lets build Zambia together. There is no loser or winner but Zambia.

  35. Lets see if he will provide free education and K50,000 fertiliser he preached. Also futher reduction in fuel price. What a first lady, 28 yrs against 71 RB?

  36. I miss PF bloggers like Osama bin Zed and Spectator. Where are you guys ba PF bloggers. Mwazima. When you lose, lose with dignity and honor. Still continue defending what you believe in. Is it not what constractive opposition means.

  37. UNIP+MMD+UPND+PF=PLUNDERING, WE SHOULD JUST DIVIDE ZAMBIA INTO REGIONS AND RULE OUR SELVES, OR ELSE WE WILL CONTINUE SUFFERING IN THE NAME OF 1 ZAMBIA 1 POVERTY.

  38. Now we have a serious combination of Anyandule in our country. The real dribblers and thugs are in state house. FTJ is back …KK is back … and all the other nonsense! Koswe pambalala? Chula pamanzi? Hard luck ma Zambians!

  39. Wafwa na Panga you are really. I like your stance. always believing in what you believe in. Keep it on my brother. Your constructive opposing views are health for the development of mother Zambia. I appeal to all other PF and UPND bloggers not to change thir blogging names. Continue with your names and your belief as it was before the winning of Lupiya. You never know he might also be a blogger like you or better still his shushushu and your message might reach him.

  40. That was quick, innauguration on a sunday, these chaps should know that sunday is a day to thank the Lord for our being here.Anyway, congratulations to MMD cadres especially those who voted.
I feel this time around the opposition parties have learnt a lesson,it is very difficult to unseat the ruling govt when there are two many contenders. It’s better to unite but we know selfishness always prevails, everyone wants to be President so this is the end result, failure to win by the opposition & crying foul.
The ruling party thru the govt has access to more resources & has representation in all corners of the country even to areas where cars cannot reach.Bribed Chiefs also helped MMD big time.

  41. This afternoon I heard a UNIP song being played on one of our local Radios which used to play in Kaunda’s last days. The song: “so so belenge mayo…ba UNIP nabawina mayo…ngoletalika balekwimya ba AIR..”. I don’t know if it was ZNBC playing it to signify the coming back of UNIP.

  42. The sad bit about the pictures above though it is good that RB won that pictuer of FTJ just spoils it. 2 years ago he was PF amaka now his MMD this is political prostitution at its highest level by senior people with no morals

  43. 58 Shimaster my man, regionalism would be the answer to Zambia. We need to fight for an inclusion of a Federal system of governance in Zambia in the coming constitution.

  44. Yes #62,we will continue using the same usernames. All of us UPND supporters in the diaspora will soon embark on a major recruitment drive & mobilisation of resources so that by January 2009 we start campaigning for the 2011 elections which obviously are just around the corner. Some of us will be returning home so we will start the drive now,we have to do it the US way,Obama & the rest started campaigning almost 2 years ago that way all voters know what is at stake & have time to judge who they really need.It is time for a new party to take over from MMD so we have to go flat out & campaign on real issues,no mudslinging or cheap rhetoric to please the masses as is usually the case.

  45. Congratulation RB. Ba opposition until you learn to do it the US way you will never see yourself in Plot 1. Never at all. One opposition party and you will win the elections. Iam happy that RB has got it at the end of the day. Ba King Cobra was unpredictable. And i guess rigging cannot be talked about. They did the trick. Count the strongholds of PF and thats just what happed. Sorry PF and UPND. Your leaders all want to be in plot 1 and now noone has managed to get their. Selfishness is what caused all this.
Viva Zambia. God bless Zambia. Viva RB may you be guided well as you lead Zed

  46. Another thing I noticed is this. At the time the presidential morcade was going to parliament I was at Manda Hill Shopping Complex there were so many people around who had gone for shopping but paid no attention to this new president who was passing. Instead people who wanted to drive out Manda Hill area ran out of patience at the police man who stopped them to allow RB and group to pass and started hooting in anoyance.

So RB will need to work hard for people surrounding him to accept him genuinely after rejecting him through the vote, I mean the people living here in Lusaka.

  47. Mazoka 6ft,Nkumbula 6ft,HH...one foot in the grave, never a tonga we shall take them out let them rule cows even shag them for all we care Mazoka 6ft,Nkumbula 6ft,HH...one foot in the grave, never a tonga we shall take them out let them rule cows even shag them for all we care

02/11/08 PRESIDENT BANDA IS SWORN IN TONGA BULLS WHERE ARE YOU AND YOUR hh TONGA PARTY

MEASTRO HHE HHE WHERE ARE YOU ?

    MWALILA

  48. #69 I agree with u although I voted for the opposition. The opposition will never come to power unless the MMD ( 1) becomes seriously divided (which is unlikely at the moment); (2) we only have one opposition leader standing against MMD candidate (again this unlikely for instance Miyanda is already saying he will stand in 2011). The mood right now in Lusaka and perhaps other areas is that of frustration, some people are even saying they will never vote in future.

If 2011 was tomorrow I would not vote again, but thank God I easily accept things like this.

  49. Sata once beaten, thrice shy, please retire and concentrate on your heart condition…..free advise!!!!! take it or lease it!!!!

  50. It was indeed a good game, no draw. Congratulations to the winner and let’s get along as brothers and sisters like always. Our land is precious, we have to remain united and assist our leadership in all possible ways with ideas that will make our society enjoy a better life. Wether villager or not Zambians are educated and capable of developing the country to a desired level. It will not happen without unity. For now the important thing is to pesistently remind the new leadership of promises made to ensure that they turn into reality. Short of that, a vote of no confidence must be declared for not adhering to promises made. One Zambia one Nation.

  51. Where are the people who argued with me about UPND having no chance in Western ande North Western against MMD? The trouble with UPND is that they do not look at things objectively otherwise they would not have argued with me. Free advise, HH will not make it in 2011 and UPND needs a new leader. Please do not argue this time.

  52. shame to a man who marries the grand daughter pipo choose him as the leader what example is he going show every oldman in zambia will be going for very young girls.

  53. Guys let donate towards PF the party has been left with a US $ 4.7 million external debt.Pressure has already started on Ba Sata.In 2006, Levy helped pay for it behind cameras, i don’t see Banda coming. Lets help our man Ba Sata.We cannot afford to abandon him now.Supporters any suggestions in approaching this challenge?

  54. #51. With you educated people, why is Zed still in poverty with your BA/MBA/PHDs. My friend ukuteka is wisdom not knowledge tupoka ku school. PF is a great party. You can see how they gave the ruling party a run for their money. The ruling party was not MMD, it was MMD+UNIP+FDD+ULP+UPND+HP against PF. Pabwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatoo. Come What may..We shall rule one day. Watch this space. SATA is not the only person we can field.

  55. I am aware that RB’s children are active on this blog. Therefore can I appeal to you to speak to your father and advise him on where the world stands as at today? We don’t want age old policies, economics in our country. We don’t want someone who will undermine the law. PLEASE if you’re worthy of the exposure you seem to have, advise and monitor your dad.I’m sure you want him to die a Zambian legend

  56. ‘The truth’ muyende na ku convention. nine years sure with appointed leaders! awe.. thats not democratic. Ka Lubinda munakachosa kuti? ni ka defector from UPND to ULP to PF spokesperson .

  57. Some few years ago I attended some matebeto where some one said:” Chiluba is so crooked that he can convince an Eskimo to buy a deep freezer”.

I think the man who said is was right. Today was Chiluba was reported to have arrived at the inauguration erlier than other people like KK. He know that his prosecution is KK.

  58. Guys,
Lets face it MMD has won so whether we like it or it is Banda.
Give him the respect that he deserves as president.
Give him way when he is passing. Period.
For how long are people going to be annoyed. If you wanted him out you should have gone to vote.

  59. #89 You are not the only to tell me that. LT has explained that they are allocate the flags basing on where the server is for your internet provider. Me am I using the ZAIN (Celtel) internet facilty whose server I don’t even where it. Tommorrow when I am in the office the Zambian flag will show because we use Africonnect for the company internet.

So even I don’t even know what this flag is. If you don’t belive me that is your fault. Right I am watching wwe on Muvi TV here in Zambia.

  62. 97, AGREE, NAINE WHEN I SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN ZAMBIA, NDEUMFWO MUSELU NO KULUKA, I FEEL LIKE VOMITTING EACH TIME I SEE BALANDA WITH HIS MOVEMENT FOR MASS DESTRUCTION MINIONS.

  63. a mfumu.#88. We shall have a convention. That is a good point. We shall evolve soon. No party has original members, It is really a mix. Never mind where the members come from. In the end we should serve people zed period. Pabwatoooooooooooooo. Even MMD or ULP or UPND or FDD or Democrats or Republican of USA have pure original members.

  64. Matworld(Fainat), we mulumendo nachifika pa Arcades mukunwako ka celebration. You see I am in zed. Ukabwelefye ku zed iwe. Its nice here not the way you left it. Hard work and imagination will set you on the path to success. It will even be better under RB, have I converted you?

  65. In Africa, democracy is not respected. Shall we stop having elections, thz leaders shud just be appointing wu de next is after de other.why shud we be wasting time voting wen VJ and Kalale, are the ones wu determines wu wins. And some of u are hap with yo RB.just wait and see wre we are going.PF for life!

  66. useless african politic, Lewis Hamiltone has won fumular one championship, guess thats much more important, coz we can’t change the mentality of these selfish suckers

  67. The dye has been cast and now its time to focus on the future! lets see what egghead will do for us-afterall he is a qualified economist and i’m sure he understands politics of economics better. please i’m not an MMD cadre but right now we have to see what he has to do!

  68. This is what we all expected after the untimely death of LPM. Why did this snake force us to spend all the money when we all knew it would lose? Our Katele Kalumba tried to make this snake see sense but it couldn’t. Now the snake has to be tamed and castrated. What do others think? Zambia is bigger than any individual. KK is evry wise. Abash anarchy!

  69. a mfumu #88 I meant to say not Even MMD or ULP or UPND or FDD or Democrats or Republican of USA have pure original members.

  70. WE UPND ARE HAPPY WITH OUR HH, LOOK AT THE RESULTS, NW, WESTERN,CENTRAL WE WERE COMMING NO.2 WE SHALL FIGHT UNTIL WE WIN NEXT TIME.NEVER SAY DIE. SATA STARTED STANDING IN 2001 3 TIMES LOSING.VIVA HH

  71. 103, we better off celebrating fumualar one than thinkng about selfless leaders, thats why pa, bakalimbe, I’m not coming to waste my time.

  72. Inviting Mugabe could not be stopped because our new HE was born in Zim. Its diplomatic not to talk about the dirt in your neighbour’s yard when you are cleaning but after cleaning you can advise your neighbour. Mwatelela makani!! Its upto Mugabe now to fill ashamed that Zambia and South Africa can replace leaders without loss of blood. We can teach you concepts but we will never teach you how to think!. Indoda yasibonela!!! Let a man sort out his own mess!!

  73. It is so suprising to see kk and Ftjc getting so exited for rupia Bamba’s victory .I feel sorry for him because he is going to have some presidents over his head ,is this another state funeral or what am i seeing. Vj i blame you for all the state funerals in zambia.

  74. At least we used our money and not tax payer’s money. We gave you a hard time with our money from sponsors. PF for life.

  75. If PF is a serious party, it shall take heart regroup and come back stronger in 2011 knowing very well they stand a very good chance against the MMD seeing also that their strongest support from from younger people and they just need to ensure that they get these to register as voters and vote. This is what the Democratic Party has done.

I think that this could just be the end of HH as a serious presidential contender. Sata comes out strong but can his body stand the test of time considering he just had a stroke and he will be 3 years older? Maybe Sata needs to go for a convention now and win over those who don’t rate him as a democrat. Maybe he also needs to now get a Vice President.

  76. It is shameful that the will of the pipo has not bn respected. Anyway the friendly advise to Banda is not to surround himself or appoint finished politician like VJ in any position. only then will he gain public confidence.

Guz, ba FTJ balipola kale…. soon we will hear the return of Xavier Chungu and the rest. Let us wait and see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  77. First they ignore you ,then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win-Mahatma Gandhi

  78. 84#WONDERFULL SATA REALLY IS A MAN 1 MAN SURROUNDED BY 5 COMBINED PARTIES BUT STILL MADE THEM SWEAT 4 2 GOOD DAYS FROM THURSDAY UNTIL SATURDAY AND MADE THEM ANNOUNCE THE RESULSTS IN FEAR I HAVE NO COMMENT FOR HIM, BUT TO SAY NAMAHILO LITALI, NATI NAMAHILO LITALI

VIVA SATA VIVA PF DON’T LOOSE HOPE NAMAHILO LITALI.

  79. For Sata, the spirit is willing but the body is weak. As for HH, it will be amazing if his party gives him a third try. Don’t tell me UPND doesn’t have enough pool of leaders to choose from. The young man has failed, period!

  80. @116 – I doubt that’s the reason. In the last election, Sata wanted Mugabe at his inauguration. I think it is just standard policy to invite the leaders of neighbouring countries to witness the swearing in of a new president. It has nothing to do with allegiances to Mugabe, or the fact that RB was born in Zim. That’s why the Tanzanian and Malawian leaders showed up as well.

  81. My RB’s guity conscious haunt him forever, actually double his already existing guity conscious of marrying a grand child. May he be overshadowed by the curses of all of us mourning now and may he be judged fairely by the almighty. Surely how can you say you have been elected by the people of Zambia when only 700 000 out of 12 million population!!!!! And lastly may he live long to suffer old age and eventually shamelessly apologise to the people of Zambia.

  82. #115 thats it man! If we had serious leaders we could learn from where Hamilton started. Look at that Zambian boy playing for Manchester City Football Club. I don’t think there is anyone in FAZ who knows how good he is and the potential for our country. Together with Charles Musonda’s kids and another i watched in Spain (a Sipho), i have confidence we can lift the Africa cup (maybe). Bushe netball ikaliko? Maybe Kalusha’s girls can play there.lol

  83. MUGABE AND SATA ARE MY FAVORITE AFRICAN POLITICIAN THEY REALLY MAKE ME ENJOY MY POLITICAL SCIENCE COURSE THOUHG THE HUMILIATION ON ZIM ZIM PEOPLE.

  84. Political DINOSAURS have awoken. Where to the youths of Zambia who have always been told they are the future leaders?

  85. @#128, Miss Zambia. I don’t think it benefits the country to curse the incumbent president. I think the country would benefit more from constructive criticism and support, as opposed to apathy and curses. None of the candidates was popularly elected – even Sata’s votes were under 700, 000 out of 12 million people. That does not indicate mass popularity, especially when you consider that his popularity is limited to 4 provinces. People, whether you like it or not, RB is president. Unlike the way we criticised Levy, let us work on supporting out new president and holding him accountable for his promises and actions. We will simply waste time complaining – think about 2011.

  86. Some of you chaps who seem to find joy in cursing others will find your own curses coming back at you. Give, and it will be given back unto you. Bless, and you will be blessed. Curse, ……

  87. 124#WHEN YOU STEAL IT IS NORMAL TO MOVE FAST,OTHERWISE KUTI BAKWIKATA.ABANTU BALIZANDA,BENDA BALIFUNGA AMAKOFI.

  88. Honestly speaking Levy has done nothing to this country but only led it to poverty. I have serious headaches when I have money because it doesn’t meet my point of need so please those who are commending Levynio “may his soul rest forever” stop it cause it doesn’t make any sense at all this government became rubbish after Chiluba. And Please try to appreciate what Chiluba has done for don’t act as if Kaunda is a good president cause this man is very evil and a great hypocrite, we all know were we come from (Zambians).
RB’s death is soon to come and we are not joking. VJ is in it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  89. He has to be specific in extending his olive branch. we need to have a government of all inclussion. We need to remind ourselve about patriotism that once thrived in Zambia. I’m also troubled that RB has no record and I’m wondering what he is bringing to the fore.
We shouldn’t see Chiluba and his Manions released.

  90. #84 YOU MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!I AM SO FRUSTRATED BUT THERE IS HOPE.ONE DAY WE WILL WILL OVERCOME THE DEVIL-MMD.TO ALL THOSE WHO THINK BECAUSE THEY ARE SO EDUCATED THEY CANT SUPPORT PF SOME OF US ARE NOT JUST MORE EDUCATED THAN YOU,WE ALSO HAVE MORE MONEY WHERE EVER YOU ARE.THE PROBLEM WITH ZAMBIAN EDUCATED IS THAT THEY ARE LAZY AND NOT ENTERPRISING.THATS WHY EVEN MOST GOVENTMENT DEPARTMENTS ARE SO FILTHY.WE NEEDED SATA TO CLEAN UP THE MESS.VIVA PF!! TO HELL WITH YOUR DEGREES,MASTERS&PHDS.JUST CONTINUE PAYING RENT…

  91. WELL DONE BANDA AND THANKS TO WESTERN PROVINC, EASTERN PROVINCE, CENTRAL PROVINCE AND NORTH EASTERN. WE SHALL REMEMBER YOU ONCE YOUR TURN COMES.

  92. RB has now got what he wanted. We shall monitor him closely starting with the choice of his cabinet. Is he going to continue with the old politics of praising the boys no matter how incompetent. Is he going to retain MPOMBO,MULONGOTI and the like in his cabinet? is he going to re-appoint VJ. i hear Sakwiba is the next VP. I WILL JUDGE HIM BY HIS FIRST CABINET. And what is his stance on the constitution. we need to avoid another costly by election GOD FORBID..Otherwise all the best to RB and MMD. we are watching….

  93. Congrates RB. My heart was under my feet when Sata was leading. I would rather have MMD than PF thuggery- Gollira politics.

  94. This is democracy at work. Pipo – If you want your party to win – you’d better get your supporters to vote!! Big crowds who cannot or do not want to vote means nothing!! HH (aka – Hakaivotela Heka) should go back to business, The vilage concept should retire to his concepts and Sata should find a successor and stop aligning himself with the likes of Mugabe.

  95. #128 Im sorry for you. I dont know who you were supporting – I hope it is not Sata. We must truly thank the Western, N.Western for saving our hides. HH was too politically immature. His chances would have been in 2011 and he needed to team up with RB since Sata was never willing to share his spoils. This was a fair election with all monitors for each party wide awake and privy to all votes counted and signed off as accurate and correct. You could not have had a better election. The selfish two know clearly well that they lost hands down!!!! Sata by today was going to appoint only Bembas to his cabinet. His behavior at Mulungushi confirmed that he was and has never changed, period…

  96. Those who didn’t vote for MMD have been let down by the selfishness of opposition leaders. they claim to be leaders but not for the good of people, only for themselves. There’s no leader in opposition who can carry the vote of a frustrated voter to State house. The voters have done their bit, but the leaders have spoilt it all. You can’t blame the MMD and you cant blame voter aparthy. There were enough NO votes to uproot the MMD. Aparthy would only be blamed if all those who stayed away were supposed to vote for PF or UPND. But I would like to say whoever wanted to vote for these two actually voted, unless they lost their voter’s card. The opposition got all the votes. Shame!

  98. HH (Todler)you have a long way to go and why are people so onto Sata (Mr. President) its crystal clear let us not act dull because it just makes these Chinese guys take advantage of every Zamian. If our minds think like this we will never develop until a Chinese or Indian is president. I say this because these guys are buying land and as far as I understand the law We are giving them enough rights to come and fight for them in the near future. You can’t see the effects but children will suffer and that is something we should think of. As a youth I find all you elders to be very selfish cause its like you are only interested in fast money, shame on you RB shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  99. #73. muramo
If you’re in Zambia then it’s better to join the team there, those of us in the UK will start now.
Looking at some statements by some bloggers above regarding our party UPND,i agree that we might need a very strong new leader who is not Tonga because HH’s rise to the thrown came at the wrong time, someone else should have taken over from Mazoka but they chose a fellow Tonga.I think the message is clear enough,we cannot get votes from other provinces & the name of our party continues sinking in the mud,am sure their are some even better people than HH in Zambia who will challenge him for the party Presidency & eventually stand for the national Presidency in 2011.

  100. SAAATA, I warned you that this was a Rest in Peace match. RB Yokhozuna Nyama Soya has beaten you cleanly. You should rest in peace

  101. Yes abena Munkoyo, we are now in the post election analysis. I do agree that PF must show a semblance of intra party democracy. & yrs without a convention is serious political suicide. So now, while the momentum is still alive, re group and start planning well, no stone unturned. I can assure that MMD will be the formidable opposition in 2011.

  102. 138#THERE IS SENSE MY DEAR EVEN IF PEOPLE CLAIM TO BE EDUCATED,BUT THEY CAN NOT COMPARE TO SATA HE WAS BORN WITH WISDOM HIS GOT NATURAL LEADERSHIP, THAT IS WHY EVEN PEOPLE WITH HIHGER EDUCATIONS VOTED FOR HIM LIKE I DON’T KNOW.ME AND PF WE ARE NOT DEFEATED STILL WAITING FOR THE ECZ TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.

  103. As regards the results, I think what we have is the best. Peace continues, everyone knows what MMD is about, no surprises. If Sata was president, everyone would be apprehensive right now. There would probably be a curfew tonight. Sata is lawless. He’s been both UNIP and MMD, unsurprisingly even on the darker side – vigilantes and 3rd term. Yes he’s a man of action but character is supreme. MMD seem to work as a team so the economy is likely to remain on the same course it would have been if Mwanawasa was alive, barring external forces like credit crunch and global recession. the only thing now is how to do better than we have done before and also listen to people who voted NO to MMD.

  104. @142-the government of national unity that you advocate is not working well at all in Zimbabwe- the guys over there are caught in a deadlock, failing to decide who runs what. I doubt that African politics is mature enough to form unity governments, especially when leaders cannot agree on anything. Moreover, such coalitions run the risk of undermining the concept of ‘checks and balances’ by swallowing up any opposition to an incumbent government. What we need is just ONE effective opposition party to run against the MMD, which would entail either Sata or HH, hopefully the former, to step down and allow the other to gain a stronger platform by recruiting respected figures from other tribes

  105. Mr Banda should sit down and think very very critically.I think,Banda just like the late LPM,needs Sata.Zambians too, needs Sata. That man is the only one who can give objective critism to govt, speak on behalf of the voiceless. If Sata stopped politics tonday, govt will not be on thier toes.
Banda might perform becoz of Sata.
Nawakwi,Saki,Nevers,Mwila ,Siulapwa and these other chaps are myopic and are just there to loot our resources.Hope Mr Banda knows this.

  106. #109,can u leave Sata alone.if u feel like going to de toilet, just go and ofload yo rubish oke.Sata knows a lot of thngs dats why the educated in urban arears hav bn voting for him oke.Dont just vomit any dirt from your beak.

  107. Can PF survive without Sata? We are talking about 2011. Suppose Sata’s health doesn’t allow him to continue. Let’s face this reality. PF supporters, will PF be as formidable without Sata like it has done so far.

What is the strength of Pf is it Sata or PF machinery, which could churn out another credible candidate if Sata steps down for instance.

  108. #162 good point. Coalition doesn’t work, especially where there are politics of poverty.

If our politics were based on ideologies, it would be easy to have two major political parties like in USA and UK. Our political parties are not based on ideological differences. There are no strong beliefs, that’s why people defect from one party to another. The closest we had was KK’s UNIP vs MMD. The rest are just variations of MMD. That’s why they can leave MMD, form other parties, then come back to MMD. Their basic philosphy is the same. I wonder whether Tilyenji’s UNIP is like KK’s UNIP.

  109. 165, May I contribute to your line of questioning. I think the fact that there has been no Convention in PF, even to just endorse Sata, means there might be a leadership vacuum in the party. Look at what happened to MMD…they had a dead President, no Vice President and relied on RB- an outside who they quickly called Trustee and now he is there as Head of State. In fact, going back to Chiluba’s time, he did not groom a leader in MMD, hence he had the task of seeking Levy in the night. I see PF heading this way. Age will catch up with Sata in 2011 and it will no longer be feasible to rely on his physical strength. There is a problem.

  110. Fellow Zambians elections were not rigged, the opposition divided the big demand for change. The opposition got more votes -combined total – than MMD. The complaint which is geniune is that Banda used state resources- 3 helicopters & gvt vehicles. This gave him an unfair advantage

  111. PF THERE IS NO NEED TO BE ASHAMED YOU GAVE CHIMONA “AS MPEZENI CALLS HIM” a big run for his money YOU ARE A FORMIDABLE FORCE TO RECKON WITH NO MATTER WHAT RB SUPPORTERS THINK! SAD WE WILL STILL HAVE TO BARE WITH THE HORRIBLE INFRA STRUCTURE CO’S I CANT SEE MMD DOING WHAT THEY HAVEN’T DONE IN 17YEARS, BUT THAT IS W/P AND NW/P CHOICE WHO GAVE RB THIS MANDATE. continue providing the checks and balances you are the only party that can do it, not HP OR UPND AND since now even the zctu under the leadership of the tonga man is now dead

  112. i pray for day when zambia will stop voting on tribal lines. but that day will only be when Lod jesus christ comes
people let us remermber that for everything that we do on this earth, we will be acocuntable for our actions. remermber that
it is not name, leadership or money that will save you, but as long as you ar ehuman, u will be accountable for all your actions.
long live fighters of poverty and those who fight for poor an dnot for the tribe or for their own good

  113. @169 – true. Frankly, I don’t see any tangible difference in PF and MMD, when their members gravitate back and forth between either, and Chiluba, KK et. al endorse one party one year, and another the next. The presidency seems to be a ping-pong game bouncing back and forth between the same people, masked by the illusion of democracy. Truly what change can you expect from a leader who has served under every post-independence government, especially the most corrupt one in Zambia’s history i.e. Chiluba’s? He knows all the tricks of the trade, and would not tarry to use them as president.

  114. chiluba…am so shocked, these people were praying that lpm dies. now that he has gone they ar eback. what a shame.its like theya re rejoycing that lpm is gone and they are free. andyway, ba lpm nabene…sometimes forgivness is good

  115. #163 I am sure you must be Bemba. If you really want SATA to rules we shall remove Luapula and Northern Province, from Zambia, and let SATA rule you. It will be a nation of total chaos. Who organised MMD thugs to rough up those that were opposed to the third term for Chiluba?

  116. #170 your observation is spot on. This again shows that our leaders are quite selfish. they don’t even prepare their own party for eventualities like this. The party is supposed to be above members, like a football team above players, so that players play for the team, not the other way round.

It could be that we have not matured as far as politics are concerned. Leaders still operate like village headmen, by birthright.

PF needs to prepare for Sata’s departure, otherwise they will disappear with Sata. Sorry for PF supporters.

  117. “Umwana ashumfwa amenene imyefu kwikoshi”. Sata must know that better. We have been telling him and his fellow now career opposition party leaders to unite if they want to dislodge MMD. KK abeta to help them unite bena they walk out in what they thought was grand-style, and given prominence by their failure friend Mmembe in his sinking paper. Mwamona nomba? Chapwa apa nomba ni retirement fye, u won’t be alive mu 2011 tata.
Namashina yene musala, u should be careful! Ati PF? That stands for POOR FINISHING man!
    Chwe! Chwe! Chwe! Chwe! Chwe!

  118. pipo get a life and why are u busy insulting each other??move on and MMD has won… i`m non partisan and the only way to remove MMD in power is by these political parties to merge and form on party. Divided we fall, together we stand!!!!!! So accept what is in your hands and open a new page, life continues. no tree to get the more money from and we have to pay as we earn and chapwa…NO matter how much we are going to talk nothing is going to change the situation……kwikalafye nziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. a week to a politician is a long time and they tend to forget their promises so lets watch the space for RB…

  119. GUYS LETS BE REALISTIC!ARE WE SURELY GOING TO LOSE OUR INTEGRITY BECAUSE OF AKANONO?I CANNOT RULE OUT RIGGIN-I SMELL A BIG RAT.WE ONLY LEARNT TODAY OR IS IT YSTRDAY THAT 6 VEHICLES FOR ECZ BROKE DOWN AND THAT THEY WERE STILL VOTING IN 2 AREAS AFTER ALL HAD FINISHED.I REMEMBER VOTING BEING EXTENDED IN KITWE-ALI SIMWINGA ANNOUNCED ON THE NEWS.PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IAM WRONG.ECZ IS NOT TRANSPARENT.BY THE WAY,TO THOSE WHO THINK MMD WILL REDEEM THEM WAIT AND SEE.US WHO WORK AND DO BUSINESS WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MONEY-THE SYSTEM IS STILL THE SAME.WELL IAM STILL WONDERING HOW THE FERTILISER WAS REDUCED AND IF IT IS PERMANENT,WHY NCZ IS NOT OPEN…1DAY WE WILL OVERCOME.VIVA MUBWATOOOO!!!!

  120. FOLLOW ZAMBIANS…LETS NOT CRY OR CELEBRATE..ITS DONE..RB IS PRESIDENT..NOW THE FUTURE..WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF RB’s CHOICE OF THE NEXT CABINET??? Who should we expect?? are we still going to have MPOMBO and MULONGOTI with the possibility of VJ. is Magande GOING TO BE RETAINED At FINANCE? these are the real issues. WHAT ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION, SIZE OF CABINET. I have the following suggestions:
1.Ministers must come from outside Parliament. this will pave way for knowledgeable professionals. no NEED FOR DEPUTY MINISTERS EXCEPT PROVINCIAL ONES.
2.President must have a running mate. To avoid costly by elections
3.No cadres in the foreign service
    COMMENTS??????

  121. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE 50+1 BEING IMPLEMENTED AT LEAST POLITICIANS WILL BE FORCED TO MAKE COALISION GVTS SO THAT THE WISH OF THE MAJORITY IS REPRSENTED PF AND UPND CONSTITUTE THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY BUT WE SHALL BE RULLED BY THE MINORITY WITH ONLY 2% DIFFERENCE WITH HIS OPPONNENT, MMD SHOULD NOT BE CEREBRATING BUT THANKING GOD FOR THE WINNING BY SKIN OF THEIR TEETH!

  122. 70, you said the same thing of Mwanawasa in 2006, but accepted him pa last. The same will go for Rupiah. Zambians have the shortest memories, a recent survey carried out by the Steadman Group has revealed.
    Chwe! Chwe! Chwe! Chwe!

  123. ONLY 718 539 CADRES HAVE CHOSEN RB INTO PLOT ONE AGAINST 12 MILLION ZAMBIANS.

CHEAP DEMOCRACY IN ZAMBIA, WITH MINORITY DECIDING FOR THE MAJORITY

  124. Just to add the above debate on the opposition merging – I think it is mandatory that PF and UPND rethink their candidates. We can advise both parties to unite, but how can we realistically expect them to work together when Sata does not accord HH any respect, and both of them advocate different policies? In order for PF to wield mass support, they need to elect a more educated, tempered, predictable, and reasoned government. The populist, socialist policies that Sata advocates gain wide support in urban areas, but we need leaders who understand how Zambia need to economically thrive in an increasingly globalised world. Otherwise we’ll end up in the same situation as Zim, Cuba etc.

  125. #191 NOTE THAT NOT ALL 12M PIPO ARE ELIGIBLE VOTERS, AND THESE ELECTIONS WERE MARKED BY APATHY. BUT YES I GET YOUR POINT, IT IS CHEAP DEMOCRACY OR DEMONCRISIS

  126. @188, namweleu – the 50+1 % you advocate would result in a coalition government of MMD + PF, not PF + UPND. UPND does not have as strong a support base as MMD. Neither MMD, nor PF garner any nation-wide support, both would form minority governments with only under 700,000 votes in the whole country. UPND and PF had the chance to unite. Although the rural vote is worryingly disregarded by many bloggers, it still counts, and at least rural dwellers exercised their civic duty to vote. If people wanted Sata, they should have gone home to vote – that’s your only way to influence the outcome of an election. If you don’t vote, don’t blame those who voted their preferred candidate into power.

  127. I am glad am not in Zambia at the moment pantu they way am filling I dont know how I could have faced everyday with that sugar daddy as my president. I spoke to friends and family on the copperbelt today, ba mwenye are celebrating while all the zambians move with sad faces. They Indian and Chinise have won and they will continue harassing our brothers and sisters while they rip our country of the resouces. Banda mudal dont forget that some of your children are still very young bakachula ukashininkisha. God shall surely redeem us. Though he tarries he shall surely come.

  128. #192,194, KOMA IMWE CITIZEN UKAMBA SENSE MANINGI, MWE. NA NVELA NA CHIMWELA. CAREFUL KA, RB AZALENGESA KUTI BAKU DIPOTE KUTI UKA NKALE ADVISOR WAKE

  129. By the way, earlier I was speaking to a from who just arrived from Mongu. Correct me if this guy was lying to me, he said there’s no fertiliser available going for K50,000, the RB recommmended price. Only 200pin worth fert. available. Aparently, people wer told to register for 50pin fertiliser and it is nowhere to be seen. Is this for real?

  130. ALL YOU CHAPS WHO THINK PF IS DEFEATED SO ITS A DONE DEAL FOR US PF SUPPORTERS, JUST KNOW THAT WE MAY BE DEFEATED BUT WE ARE NOT OUT, I WILL FOR EVER CONTINUE SUPPORTING PF, ITS LIKE IN USA THERE ARE REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS, IT ODES NOT MEAN BECOZ MY PARTY LOST SO IAM DONE NO, I SUPPORT PF FOR A MATTER OF PRINCIPLES AND VALUES WHICH ARE DIFFERENT FROM MMD; MOVEMENT FOR MASS DESTRUCTION, I LOVE THE ENERGY IN PF SUPPORTERS, THE DRIVE, THE ATMOSPHERE AT THE RALLIES, I JUST LOVE IT, EVEN IF SATA WILL HAVE ANOTHER RALLY, I WILL BE THERE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

  131. #184 No coverage of Zed elections on BBC and friends. They are preoccupied with USA elections. Besides they mainly report negatives. If there were conflict etc then surely we were going to be on News. Like right now they are showing what is happening in Goma, Congo DRC. UK has even sent their foreign minister there.

  132. #191. Jhomu
Yes,Banda was democratically elected. Our constitution is based on simple majority win & it’s the best & cost effective. If you don’t register to vote then you can’t complain when someone you don’t like is elected & if you’re not in Zambia & registered to vote in Zambia like myself it’s even worse. At the moment, the policies MMD is following are alright but am sure Banda is gonna change things around so let’s see what’s gonna be changed before we judge if MMD under him can deliver.I would have loved either Mutati or Magande but they chose RB making me hope that HH wins instead coz i have no confidence in RB but let’s see what he does, the people have spoken,no rigging scapegoat.

  133. i guess congratulations to RB is in order…..but;
    4,000jobs;
    increased meal and book allowances for UNZA and CBU students (and mind u, this goes to all the other students on government scholarships across the globe);
10 new mines; and all the other campaign promises u made……we are watching….challenge to Zambians, lets see how accountable RB will be to fullfilling these and many other promises….

  134. #179,i would like to know your CV.Your analysis of issues is very shallow.Iam not Bemba but Tonga.Late LPM said it himself. He never mentioned HH or RB but Sata.
Whats you view about this?I need proper analytical thinking not kaponya type of reasoning.(P/se readers refer to story 163 and 179.)
    Sorry for your inconvinience.

  135. MUDALA KK ALEMONEKA FIT COMPARED TO RB EVEN THOUGH HE IS OLDER. I BET HE’LL STILL BE AROUND EVEN AFTER RB, SATA AND FTJ KICK THE BUCKET

  136. Viva #109 Abash #164. Yes # 109 we need to castrate the cobra for making us lose k400 billion when it knew that Nyama Soya would emerge victorious.

  137. In Satanism, it is called a COVEN when big wizards and witches gather. There is a coven in Zambia right now. Rupiah, Chiluba, Kaunda, VJ and the lot. They are drinking the blood of the Zambians, celebrating the rape and sacrificing babies and children. The wizards and witches are laughing and back-slapping each other for stealing from the 12 million innocent and yet ignorant Zambians who were promised cheap fertilizer which is not available anyway. Poverty muyayaya!

  138. Any predictions on who is likely to be Veep? abena Munkoyo any ideas? Those who feel like staying abroad forever please do. I dont think anyone will notice apart from your relatives and friends. Wapya baisa ba mwine ba RB!

  139. Indeed you should brace yourselves for the worst times in Zambia with the sugardady/child abuser and embracer of corrupt people. I wish I was born in the USA where democracy thrives. Mark my words, I shall never vote again as long as the situation remans as it is. Viva PF for life!!!!Sata might havehumble education, but me who is more educated than Sata support him because of his experience, wisdom and action orieted spirit and approach to the neds of the Zambian people. Your Nyama Soya just sleeps and takes advantage of the rural por people. What a country!!

  140. Its not only fertilizer in Chembe its the bridge, in solwezi its the mine in Chavuma its electricity, in Shangombo its a hospital and schools. When you talk of development dont just look at Lusaka and Copperbelt.

  141. Have not seen Chiluba so happy and buoyant in the last six years, and come Monday, he won’t be well to stand trial, Chiluba, hear me good, the Zambian people will never forgive you!

  142. IAM LOOKING FOR A ZAMBIAN WOMAN TO MARRY, PLEASE, IAM TIRED OF WHITE WOMEN WHO EASILY TURNS RED AND BLOODISH WHEN IAM HAVING A SURGERY.

    QUALIFICATION
    1. VIRGIN
    2. BIG BOBBS
    3. BROAD HIPS
    4. EDUCATION LEVEL NOT REQUIRED AS LONG AS SHE IS WILLING TO COOK.
    5. FERTILE WITH A POSSIBILITY OF BEARING 2 CHILDREN ONLY.

ANY ONE INTERESTED CAN CONTACT ME AT [email protected]
CLOSING DATE: AS POSITION GET FILLED, NOW ITS VACANT.

  143. Now that we know that no one among those who stood for the Presidency of the Republic is really preferred by the majority of Zambians and seeing that Zambian voters are very polarized as never before, it is with great urgency that I call upon all the candidates in the Presidential Race to unity and be magnanimous enough to come together in a Government of National Unity. I strongly urge RB to seriously consider incorporating the three losing candidates into OUR GOVERNMENT, all of them have different strengths which can be used for the good of the country for the next 3 years. This is not a time for winner takes all. This election has brought to us the urgency of enacting the 50+1 law!!!

  144. RB is not a defiler. He married that lady when she was way beyond what is known as adult age in zambia and way beyond Voter age. If she could choose a Zambian leader then she could certainly choose a life partner. I am surprised that you concentrate on how old peoples’ wives should be then wonder why we are not developing. ata ifyabupuba! how old are your wives? you that are attacking RB.

  145. @215, good point. @214, RB’s wife is not a child, but a grown woman, even though she is younger than he. Don’t be too confident about the existence of democracy in the US – Bush was not a popularly elected president, yet he has ruled for 8 years. Moreover, how can one call him a democratically elected leader when he only garnered under 700, 000 out of 12 million votes? Sata may be a ‘man of action’, and has a reputation for getting things done, but he is not wise – he failed to unite with the opposition, and does not understand what it truly takes to develop Zambia economically. Yes, he has highlighted major issues Zambia needs to tackle, but we can’t do them the Zim way.

  146. IT IS NOT EASY TO FIND ONE I WAS JUST LUCKY MY GRANDMA ARRENGED ONE FOR ME. YOU WILL NEVER GO KU MA TERVEN SEARCHING FOR WOMEN.ONCE YOU TRY ONE.

  147. Citizen you are right . people think just because sata can speak about the urban issues with a passion then he is the one thats not right. Remember Chiluba? And for CB it wil be extremely difficult for any President to please them. those that worked in the mines enjoyed conditions that were out of this world, free homes, electricity , water, schools free Kampompo, free garbage collection free sports and recreation activities and remember payment called Ishamusana? its now that they are learning about bills, buying mealie meal, paying for the gym and schools etc Thats why Chiluba to hold their support he gave them houses.

  148. #220 There is no crisis in Zambia, the opposition lost clean so the question of govt of national unity is even misplaced,on what basis would it be formed,it’s seems it’s the norm in africa to call for a govt of national unity.Governance should be about serving the people not getting jobs,if Sata needs a job in the RB govt he should just say so,i know our HH can never accept a position in MMD’s govt coz he has different ideologies. It’s even less amusing that you even throw in the 50+1 issue,do you know that had that been the rule, right now Zambia would have been trying to start fresh elections again because that system cannot work in Zambia where it’s clear people vote on tribal lines.

  149. 232 listen its a marriage of convenience, let me know if you have any woman in mind in search of a partner, but we shall have a VCT.

  150. Spot on Mwanjawantu. People tend to have short memories. If they cannot think just 7-8 years back to a time when Sata was shoving Chiluba’s third term down our throats, they probably can’t think far past that. Anyway, let us see what RB has to offer. Personally, I’m looking to 2011 when I’m hoping for a bi-partisan, younger, exposed and well-educated leader who inspires people to vote. So far, only Prof. Chirwa impresses me, but there might be more who come onto the scene. It’s a pity LT doesn’t have a chatroom – it’s rather aggravating having to refresh the page to read a new comment each time.

  151. Imwe ba RB ngoyo FTJ mwaleta mupepi? I hope you’re not thinking of pardoning him and his concubine Regina.Let the courts decide their verdict. Ifyo mwaamba tefyo muleumfwa kubantu please twapapata!

  152. 233, GO YOU SOUND LIKE YOU COME HERE TO SEEK ATTENTION AND WHEN IT IS NOT GIVEN YOU HOLD US AT RANSOM THAT IAM GOING BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS AM RAISING GO WHO CARES, JUST GOOOOO

  153. Would anyone know why HH lost, really? Come 2011, what would give him a chance?

I think the biggest problem HH has is the “tribal” tag. He may not be tribalist but this perception may be too hard to shake off. It may keep haunting him and perharps cost him the presidency.

How can UPND shake off this tag?

  154. GUYS, IS THERE ANY OTHER CHAT ROOM FOR ZAMBIANS IN ANOTHER WEB SITE AM TIRED OF LT JUNK STYLE, THEY SHOULD DEVELOP A CHAT ROOM DO WE HAVE TO THINK FOR THEM.

  155. 223 Citizen, …”he failed to unite with the opposition, and does not understand what it truly takes to develop Zambia economically”, Rupiah understands what it takesto develop Zambia in his “sleep”, hey be realistic. Sata is far much better than Rupiah and people wanted SATA, period, but he has been denied that opportunity by selfish politicians like Chiluba, KK, Vernon, Teta and kamulongoti. Blame Sata for not uniting, yes, but HH is also to blame, he could have swallowed a humble pea being an under five politics.

  156. #235 good point.

LT please insert a tab to refresh the page at a click of a buttom. May be put it next to Reset at the bottom. I also find it frustrating.

  157. Potential 2011 candidates, Bwalya Chiti, felix Mutati, ngandu magande, brian Chituwo, Katele Kalumba leornard Hikaumba, Maureen Mwanawasa, Kabinga Pande, thats for MMD Chirwa bazamublocker ma boyi . for UPND HH seems determined by i wish they could find a none Tonga thats the only way out. PF is headless without Sata he will go with the party if they dont put him there as president. And to think they have been fundraising for the convention since 2001! iyo mwandi ni mother of all conventions.

  158. The tribal tag associated with tongas is more “genetic” than just a label. Siinayambe manje. The statement made by senior leaders in the UPND merely re-enforced it and since then it has been hard for HH to shake it off.

  159. #239 he may not shake it off because its not him its alot other people. I tell you even if HH was to live Zambia today and only come back in 2011 he will have the Southern province tacked away in his pocket. If thats not tribal ninshi Kaya chabe mwe

  160. Anonymous, I don’t dispute that Sata can get things done, but with under 700,000 votes, you can’t say that people wanted him. I do believe that he has highlighted some serious issues that Zambia needs to tackle, but they cannot be properly addressed by dividing people and chasing the Chinese away. You have Zimbabwe as an example of how such policies ultimately hurt a country in the long run. Moreover, Sata once worked with most of the selfish politicians you mentione. How is it that he had no problem working for Chiluba, who all of us know was incredibly corrupt, but could not work under Levy who, although not perfect, made some efforts in tackling corruption?

  161. 248, AM AT A LONELY ISLAND IN NORTHERN EUROPE AND IAM A SENIOR BACHELOR, SO A WOMAN FROM TROPICAL HOT SOUTHERN AFRICAN REGION ESPECIALLY ZED, WILL KEEP ME WARM WHILE HAVING TO ENDURE COLD WHETHER IN SEARCH OF THOUSANDS OF EUROS.

  162. To add to my last comment, it is my understanding that Sata walked out of talks with HH. Even though people are blaming them for failing to unite, I really don’t see how they could have done so considering that they don’t agree on many issues, and Sata has no respect for HH. This is the reason why I thought it was rather doubtful that Obama could pick Clinton as a running mate.

  163. It is good to be back on the blog. I had travelled home to vote and am glad I did even my candidate HH lost.
1 I am happy because my candidate had offered Zambians real hope and change but Zambians did not see it that way. If things do not work out for Zambians with RB Zambians will not say that there was no alternative. That is the good news
2 The other thing that makes me happy with my vote is that I made sure that RB wins only by 1% which in a way will make him realise that even though he won he is not popular.
IT IS GOOD TO BE BACK ON THE BLOG

  164. The only person who can say ‘the people wanted him is RB because he can argue that those that stayed away did not want any change. but how can you argue for people that wanted a new leader but did not vote? hopeless fellows!

  165. YOU GUYS SATA IS A SERIOUS CONTENDER, HE LOST BY LESS THAN 30 THOUSAND VOTES WITH A PARTY IN CHARGE IN 2006 HE HAD ABOUT 900000 VOTES. HE IS STILL A SERIOUS CONTENDER.

  166. Shimaster …BE SERIOUS AND STICK TO THE TOPIC UNDER DISCUSSION..THIS IS NOT A MARRIAGE AFFAIRS BLOG..TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE…….SICKLE

  167. #249, #250 This means UPND are in real trouble. They may forever be in opposition. I hope they are able to see this. Are they able to ask HH to step down for the sake of progress?

  168. @249 – I just hope that we don’t have a repeat scenario of 2001 – having too many people vying for the presidency simply divides votes and enables the ruling party to win. Zambia needs ONE effective party that can encompass respected, educated, hard-working, non-tribal leaders, from all walks and backgrounds to garner enough nation-wide support to beat MMD.

  169. The late Mazoka once said ” If you want 2 kno the true nature of the hippo, ask the crocodile” Fellow Zambians, our two big crocodiles ( Kaunda & FTJ) know the true character of the dreaded Hippo( Sata). Chiluba knoz how Sata dangerously supported him over the unpopular third term. I salute Chiluba-despite his court cases – for not supporting the lunatic cobra

  173. unfortunately 1% more than your colleagues does not represent loss. legally it represents win. It actually shows that the race was tight but you won because you are the best after all.

  174. @272, to add to that, I’m sure PF supporters would not mind telling everyone else that Sata won with only a 1% gain over RB. If the exact results favoured Sata, they would not be crying foul, or complaining that he was imposed on the majority – it would be demoractic and the ‘will of the people’.

  175. i like the healthy debates. i reckon tht if th presidential candidates took time 2 b a part of these debates, they would b far ahead than others.. i like the healthy debates. i reckon tht if th presidential candidates took time 2 b a part of these debates, they would b far ahead than others..

  176. I think any opposition that hopes to uproot MMD must do serious work in the rural areas. They must be able to o there and manage to persuade people to vote them into power. we have seen that even if MMd got zero in Lsk and CB, the rural vote will retain them in power, unless the opposition united. So either the opposition stop being selfish and unite, or they look for money and go camp in rural areas talking to people on the ground, may be even give them some sugar. It will be cheaper to unite, but are they willing to drop their selfishness?

  180. 271#JUST 1 MONTH IN ITALY I LIVE IN LONDON KENSAL RISE JUST VISITING MY MUM I AM A ZAMBIAN I DON’T EVEN KNOW ITALIAN

  181. THE BEST THING THAT WILL MAKE ZAMBIA A BETTER PLACE IS TO GO BACK TO THE SYSTEM OF REGIONAL STATES WITH THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.

  182. Actually I think 1% difference is good for democracy. it shows the opposition is strong. This is good especially if campainging is based on issues. Landslide victory may indicate that opposition is weak, unless it is like 1991 when people overwhemingly wanted change from UNIP’s socialist policies which caused shortages of every essential goods. a strong opposition keeps govt on toes and makes sure they don’t get away with murder. Problem is, opposition MPs cross over for greener pastures, rendering the whole purpose useless. Traitors and job seekers. Sata himself may offer strong opposition but his MPs weaken that in parliament. So MMD govt continues as usual.

  183. @Shimaster – how are we to tackle tribalism and division between the people of ONE nation by implementing that policy? Although your suggestion appears to have some advantages, I think Zambia just need a leader with a non-partisan, non-tribal appeal – like Obama in the US. He now has many republicans and independents voting for him, simply because he espouses an approach that considers and prioritises issues important to everyone, regardless of political affiliation. Whether Bemba, Tonga, Lozi, or any other tribe, us Zambians are facing the same problems. Let us advocate a reconciliatory approach before a federal/ regional one.

  184. All you Zambians living abroad should do something than commenting from a distance. This is our beloved country “going to the dogs.” I know Chiluba and katebe Katoto are smilling in their sleep. Chungu has just sent for his bags, am sure he is already in Zambia. Problem yaba Sata nabo, he is too radical, thats why the obsevers don’t even care to be on his side. We really need an overhaul of leadership in Zambia. Banda ni shikulu already come on people!!!

  185. #281 Shamboko. Thanks. Yes, a party is a good idea. Need a lot of money though. there are enough NO-Votes there. Missing link is selfless opposition. No one wants to vote for selfish people, ask those who don’t bother to vote. Voter aparthy doesnt just happen. People are more intelligent than what politicians think.

  190. citizen or Shimaster what ever you call yourself; your suggetion to liken american politics to Zambia is unworkable. What issues can you sale to Zambian villagers?? They are too keen to being loyal than understanding the issues. Zambia needs education then maybe something will work. For as long as you keep people poor they will never be independent decision makers. Right now anyone with money or bag of maize can win

  191. #295 I think RB will not go beyond 2011. MMd have a lot of younger people who will rise to the challenge. If RB can be president, anyone out there can be. RB rode on the power of MMd and Govt, this means anyone on MMd can win. RB was not the best they could offer, only that he was sitting VP and acting president. He probably got the fewest votes they could get. Mutati, Katele and other younger guys could have got MMD more votes for the same investment.

Katele is smart. He was mismanaged by FJT, allowing a situation where he soiled himself with corruption. Same applies to many in FJT’s govt. But these young guys are sharp and better than RB. Check 2011, it will be for young & energetic.

  193. Guys, its 2300hrs here in the UK. Been great blogging with you. Work day tomoro. Keep blogging and have fun. I will open the window tomoro for update.

God bless you and bless Zambia. Good night. Signing off.

  194. CITIZEN, I FEEL SAD THAT THE UN EDUCATED AND UN CIVILISED ZAMBIANS HAVE BEEN SACRIFICED AND USED AS PONS IN A CHASE BOARD TO USHER IN A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT, I REMEMBER PHONING MY GRANDMA AT THE FARM WHAT SHE FELT ABOUT SATA, AND TO MY SURPRISED SHE SAID NANI ENGAVOTELA CHILYA CHIPUBA, IMAGINE EVEN ME THE EDUCATED SUPPORT SATA MY GRANDMA CALLING SATA CHILYA CHIPUBA, THIS IS HOW MMD HAS BRAINWASHED THE VILLAGERS INCLUDING GRANDMA, THEY DONT VOTE BECOZ THEY UNDERSTAND THE VALUES AND POLICIES.

  195. Thank god the threat of sata has been banished from plot1.
The man had little drug dealers as his hench men. He trusts vijilantee justice. If this man had been elected, it would have been like Amin dada reborn

  196. Musaku, I understand your point but how do you propose people in rural areas are to be educated to see beyond tribal loyalties? Although tribalism exists, I think it is exaggerated greatly by the fact that no one candidate has managed to appeal to a wide spectrum of Zambians. In 2001, Mazoka managed to gain greater nation-wide support than HH. If tribalism were the be-all-and-end-all, we would have had less voter apathy as people rushed to the polls to vote for their tribesman. The truth is, most Zambians are apathetic to all candidates, even those of their own tribes. Moreover, as some have already pointed out, rural dwellers voted for MMD because of albeit small developments in their areas

  197. All the best to His Excellency Rupiah Banda there is nothing anyone can do now all we have to do is accept the outcome and support RB. Will keep him in our prayer that he may rule with God’s guidance.

  199. Zambians you got what you wanted – the return of Chiluba, VJ and Kaunda. Ka Chiluba is even smiling after pludering resources that were meant to improve education and health conditions in the country. He’s a free man now

  200. Chiluba may rest for the next three years. But come 2011, we will smoke him out. Its not over untill its over. We will apply the “shamboko”

  201. Dear bloggers,
I have analysed the election results by constituency and I can prove beyond doubt that Bembas are more tribalist than they claim to be. Just look at the number of voters that voted for HH in Luapula and Northen and compare that with the number of voters who voted for Sata in Southern Province as percentages of the total. Analyse the percentages with the voting patterns in other provinces. It is clear that Bembas were influenced by tribal feelings, simply put: majority of Bembas hate tongas.
This should end the tribal tag given to tongas because the opposite is the truth. The facts are there for all to see, so please stop pretending!!!

  202. Guys, while this tribal arguement could be true, what if the reason why people did not vote for HH in bembaland is because HH’s policies did not resonate with them? I’ve noticed one common thing among the four candidates during thier campaign rallies. They all got excited with the volume of the crowds rather than quality. Quality in this case I mean how many members do you have that crowd and the your so called members registered to vote? All we were hearing is “we were well received.” So what if you were..

  203. Only in Africa do you find a president being inaugurated imedeately after results are announced when there are still irregularities with the election results and all stakeholders are not satisfied.

  204. All presidential aspirants had well meaning intentions for mother Zambia and that was to eradicate poverty by creating many employment opportunities and develop all areas. Taking this into account Rupiah Banda needs to consult Sata and HH for their developmental ideas asap! Let’s learn to appreciate the opposition’s ideas or we shall continue being one sided with wrong or static policies. Zambians deserve better.

  205. HH 2011

  206. Fellow bloggers, Bembas are more tribal than Tongas. I am happy that their man was defeated. Winning Luapula and Nothern does not mean the whole of Zambia has accepted you.

  207. Free market your campaign sounds like Pabwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaato. hope it wont end the same. The pabwato guys have even disappeared from the blog

  208. Congratulations to Mr Rupiah Banda for this win.

    HH 2011

    HH 2011

    HH 2011

HH will surely do his homework in these three years and correct the mistakes he made. For surely, HH will emerge the winner in 2011 but we need everyone to contribute by taking part in the door to door campaigns we have set up for our preferred candidate Hakainde Hichilema.

  209. #314 whether its Sata or RB that side with Chiluba, both are wrong. The important fact is that it is morally wrong for him to be walking out there as a free man brandishing his evil sile after what he did to the country

  210. If Banda interfears with the judiciary over chiluba and other alleged corrupt and abuse of offices cases that have riched an advanced stage in courts, then he will be impeached immidiatly and his ka little respect will go down with him,or instead he will be the one in court! Its possible,Zambian have done it in chiluba’s case through our representatives(MPs).Pipo voted for him coz they think he will continue LPM’s programmes hence his popularity otherwise cut my fingure if he will win again in 2011 if he derails LMP’s New deal policys!
I hope and trust that he will let justice prevail over the said cases. Learn from the Bulaya’s `Nolle prosequi`we can question it for now!so careful we know!

  211. Ze bwato has been turned away from South Africa and Mozambique. The Bemba vessel was said to be bound for Angola but the US is reported to be pressuring port authorities there and in Namibia not to allow them to dock. The bwato, which had been anchored off the port of Durban for four days, was forced to move on Friday after a South African court refused. Despite reports the ship was heading for Angola, but Angolan Ports Filomeno Mendonca said the vessel had not asked for permission to dock in Angola. This bwato has not sought request to enter Angolan territorial waters and it’s not authorised to enter Angolan ports,” he told local radio. A South African military spokesman has said th

  212. #330 He still is a free man the best is for the courts to expedite the cases. other wise to suggest that he should stay in doors and be clothed in sacks of repentance for 10 – 15 years while his cases go on is abit unfair. dont you think so? suppose he is found innocent? No matter how grave the offence we must not lose the sense of fairness so that appropriate punishment is given.

  213. #333 it is the weakness of our judicial system. It should not take 10-15 years to prove sth that is already known and for him to return the resources meant for our children and our childrens children. It only took a month to lock up OJ.

  214. Free-Market-Capitalist,

I will join you in campaigning for HH. From my sources in Zambia, a number of urban HH supporters switched to Sata at the last minute after being misled by oppinion polls indicating that Sata was leading because they wanted change. Others got discouraged altogether and stayed home. There were others who were worried that if HH wins only tongas will be apointed as ministers. HH has to start appearing at campaigns with prominent supporters from other provinces(he has a lot of creditable members from all areas in Zed). He should learn from RB’s tactic of appearing with a strong team from all corners of Zambia. That will help remove the tribal tag.

  215. #334 i agree with you by now all government officials would be behaving in an upright manner knowing everyone is watching.

  216. Zeggy the opinion poll was done by the Post to mislead. eventually alot of people after seeing those crowds started thinking maybe they were wrong about this man after all maybe he is a good man and switched camps! the Post almost committed a crime against humanity! Sata knows no law! he cant hold elections in his party, he championed the third term, he wanted to rule after 2011! he imposed decisions on people including his party members when he was MMD national secretary. the fact that he speaks passionately about issues that matter does not make him a gud leader. He has been around long enuf to master people’s problems.

  217. Well, goodnight everyone. Keep the ideas flowing. It was great debating and sharing with your all. Despite the outcome, Levy’s term showed us that constructive as opposed to malicious criticism achieves more for our country. Let us see what the new president has to offer, and hold him to his word. Whoever did not manage to catch his inaugural speech can read it on the State House website.

  218. Indisputably us Bembas are losers, heavy on trash talk and worthlessarguments yet we are cowards. I don’t see us ever ruling this country with our choice in plot one. Where on earth do with get the conscious to float bashichilufya in the 21 st century as Presidential? posterity will keep us no different from the tongas as life time losers.

  219. This is a great lesson for the divided opposition. If HH had not been power hungry and joined Sata as his VP,he would be laughing today.Sata is an old sick man and HH would have been in perfect position of being the next president.Another three years in the wilderness!!!!

  220. Thanks citizen your contribution as usual is very mature . we need such debates. who knows maybe the President will read the site once in a while just to know what people are talking about.

  221. @337, Mwanjawantu – excellent points. I don’t feel the least bit of sympathy for the Post for the cases they have to answer in court. Yes, they play an important role in informing the nation and keep leaders accountable, but this has to be done with journalistic responsibility, rather than baseless insults and accusations supposedly justified by quoting the Catholic Bible. They have done Zambians a great disservice by promoting tribalism and exaggerating the popularity of a candidate they for a long have argued is not good for the country. This should be a lesson to them to return to the values on which they were established, and put our country before their pockets.

  222. The tribalism Demon of Ba Shimbundu Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe and evil Cult Ministry of mama Alice Lenshina of the Lumpa Church are indisputably with us.We need to break those curses first as Bembas, otherwise i don’t expect any true Bemba ruling Zambia as Head of state. Not in the next 20 years and not in the next wto Generations.Whatever is happening with these series of defeats from UPP to PF, its divine against a cursed ethnic group.

  223. TMK, Sata is a socialist and HH is a capitalist, the two do not mix. They are like fire and water. There was no point in HH agreeing to being Sata’s VP just to allow Sata to win and introduce policies which he does not support. Would you do that yourself?

  224. #348 the truth is, most people from Luapula call themselves Bembas from Luapula. I have never come across one who calls himself/herself a Lunda from Luapula. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  225. Congrates Zambians on the ground we salute you for the job well done! That is a step in the right direction. Mwanawasas policies will continue. Kulibonshya ta – Zogwa pano ni zatonse a Bwezani.

  226. #351 They were gud friends not just because he was President but even before that he was at one point their lawyer. But without bringing in LPM ( he was a very professional man) let them answer on their own for their unethical and unprofessional conduct.

  227. Thanks! I work with Traditional Leaders in Petauke District creating Community Forests. I have given lots of blackboards to Chieftainess Mwanjawantu for Community Schools in her Chiefdom. I know she has a offspring in the USA.

  228. I see. atleast you see wisdom in the chiefs and people in rural areas unlike some of our colleagues who are insulting them after losing an election.

  229. The powers that be are ordained by God.
In God’s economy authority should be respected. The person holding office may be derided but never deride the office. I hope that RB will at last bring back the dignity of that high office. Chiluba disgraced it, Kaunda abused it and LPM diminished it by answering back to every little insult at him.
My advice to RB is; Stay the course. Courage sir. Play the man and do not be distracted. Be quick to hear but slow to speak. Endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ.
The Omnipotent God is slow to anger.

  230. Those who saying Bembas are tribalists are wrong. Luapula, CB, Lusaka are NOT Bembalands. Review the tribal map of Zambia omce again.

  231. 317 has a point. Of all provinces southern province has the highest influx of people from other provinces and they are happily living. Why dont they say they will leave the province because tongas are tribal.

  232. #362 stop being philosophical. If that is you definition of Bemba then I can tell you that in Southern province tongas are only in Choma, Monze and Mazabuka. Those in Namwala and Bweengwa are ila, in Gwembe and sinazongwe are Iwe and Kalomo and l/stone has tokaleyas. When an Ila speaks a tonga from choma can hardly hear anything. Give me reasons why people of luapula and northern support Sata. What do they have in common with him. As for southers besides HH coming from there they are farmers like him and thefore they see somebody who understands their problems since he is also a farmer.

  233. Zeggy. The important issue was a way of removing MMD from power.Stats show clearly that MMD’s victory was greatly attributed to the split in the oppostion.Sata and HH would have disagreements on policy but at the end of the day he stood a chance of being the zambian president one day.Without that path and having a tribal tag following him all the way i dont see HH ruling zambia one day.Time will prove me wrong!!!Trust me HH is a smart guy.

  234. Tongas have stated clearly why they have reservations about bembas which is that bembas condone stealing a thing that tongas detest most. What is the complaint of the bembas against tongas. put it on the table let us hear it.

  235. Sata has lost in a clean and transparent election. Let him peove the rigging. Whewre are the facts ? Wild lies will not do. Sata was going to ruin the country. I am so glad the clown lost

  236. I am happy that the election was in the end a peaceful exercise. I am disappointed to hear a prominent opposition figure describe the election as “rigged”. I would also like to take issue with the continued implication by spectator and politician alike that a Mr VJ Mwaanga is capable of single handedly rigging elections back to back in the incumbent’s favor. If He is that powerful, make him President. Let’s hope the newly elected President can deliver on his promise of continuity on the work done by the late President.

  237. My friends I trully think we should all visit this blog more often and strategize the way forward for Zambia. Citizen, I appreciate your view on a number of issues in Zambia but the bottom line is how are we to translate these ideas into more practical way that would be more helpful on the ground. I will check in tomorrow guys. God bless you and the great country Zambia!!GN

  238. # 370 that is the way forward we need to use the blog to bring ideas and suggestions that can help zambia develop tribal blogging out! by the way I read in the post lusaka has recorded 5 cases of cholera. this is the whole issue with this mmd cholera fiko e cause, in this day and age a country’s capital should have good water reticulation to prevent such. BUT all we is politicking and economic boom which not traslated into physical realities. good luck zambia as you continue with Yuor RB!

  239. I’m assuming that all the people who contribute to this blog site are of a mature age. At least the age of 18, in which case if you were back home…you would be eligible to cast a vote of your choice. My worry, however, is that judging by the content of the blogs posted here the majority of the population eligible to vote are not educated, rational or mature enough to take the time to think seriously about why they are voting for who they are voting for.
Until we are mature enough, we cannot complain about what the leaders we elect do with the power we give them because it was our ignorance that put them in power in the first place. Listen to the issues first please.

  240. Merger of PF and UPND is like mixing oil and water. Merger of MMD and PF is more feasible since PF is a splinter group of MMD. However, this can make UPND stronger!! UPND has the potential to muster support from Central, Western, North Western, and pick a few elewhere. In principlal, theUPND policies are the best. The only problem is the tribal tag on its leader being peddled by unresalistic tribalistic Zambians. Something has to be done urgently to unite us as Zambians. I think UPND will continue being a regional party even 30 years from now!! Something has to be done!!

  241. #364 Ndiwe cipuba….who tells you farmers are only found in Southern Province. Shallow mind …so you tell us what the Bembas and the Luapula, CB and Lusaka people have in common since you are at it. You should also know that Northern prov isnt made up of Bembas alone

  242. Until PF elect a non Bemba President, it will never rule Zambia.Just like other people saying HH should step down. The status quo continues. In appears that at one stage Pf will dissappear into oblivion!! I donnt see the UPND giving up an Inch. What a shame to regional politics by both parties!! Look at the statistics of voting. It tells volumes about tribal bvoting!

  243. He need to explain in details how he will transform Zambia into a middle income state. I don’t have time to hear idealogical proposals. We need a plan!!!

  244. 377:There is no such thing as a plan without Ideological proposals. It is necessary that we have ideologies before creating a plan. Without that foundation you will have no base for your plan.

  245. RB deserves to be the president of Zambia just like anybody else. History will judge him, just like it judged KK, FTJ and and not so long LPM. We had a lot of faith in Chiluba, we doubted Levy’s capabilities.

  246. Yes yes we might have lost the elections but i hope these so called peace loving Zambians will maintain peace once the basic commodities have been increased. For how long shall fertilizer be pegged at 50grand and for how long shall the pump price for fuel stay at the campaign price.Am coming hot for 2011,as a councilor,2016 as MP, then finally 2021 as a diplomat or minister of information. Patriotic Front naba ba boss ba Micheal Sata,i think it’s time we had a convention.

  247. President Rupiah Banda you have already started on the wrong foot! How do you invite Robert Mugabe to your inauguration? Mugabe is NOT the “democratically elected” leader of Zimbabwe. And you keep telling us you will carry on to fulfill Mwanawasa’s legacy? You are starting on a first step of lies already!!

  248. THE BOAT HAS NOT SUNK. IF ANYTHING IT IS MUCH STRONGER. IN 2006 PEOPLE THOUGHT PF WOULD GO INTO OBLIVION BUT IT DID NOT. IT IS MUCH STRONGER AND PERFORMED MUCH BETTER THIS YEAR. NO ONE SHOULD MAKE FUN OF PF. THE BBC HAS CALLED THE ELECTION A CONTROVERSIAL ONE. WHY? AND BANDA SHOULD ASK HIMSLEF WHY THE NATION IS DIVIDED. PF SUPPORTERS ARE VERY ANNOYED AND MERE WORDS WILL NOT CALM THEM DOWN. HE IS BETTER OFF SETTING UP A TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION WHICH IN PART SHOULD LOOK AT ELECTORAL MALPRACTICES MMD ENGAGED IN E.G. REDUCING THE PRICE OF FERTILISER FROM K200 000 IN THE MIDST OF THE ELECTION; GIVING OUT FOOD IN KATETE ETC.

  249. pipo is it true that ECZ thru the CHAIR PERSON have agreed that the voting in 2places of western province took plce on FRIDAY AND SATURDAY and not thurday if so then SATA has the right to say elections were rigged,if anything let be A RECOUNT

  250. #148 Its sad that Kaponyas as well as intelligent PF supporters like Munkoyo have created a cult around Sata. A party should not see their leader as a messianic figure who is irreplaceable. Sata, Miyanda and now HH all seek everlasting power and authority even when ordinary Zambians have rejected them. Their thinking is not different form the UNIP days when KK was.. wamuyaya..at least KK even used to compete with a frog..Sata is an enemy of democracy. Its time for new blood in the opposition.

  251. I’m glad just to see those two guys,KK & FTJ, attend a common function looking so happy! Hey zambians, wouldn’t it be nice just to see those two shake hands and hug each other?Wouldn’t it be lovely just to watch RB,SATA,HH & Miyanda hold their hands together while Dan Pule prays for them? And on the right side you see Fred Mmembe with a tray of drinks waiting to serve RB?Folks, you will be amazed at how much the kwacha wil start appreciating and investor confidence going up!

Sorry guys, that was just in my dream(not a wet dream)-a sweet one!

  252. Those asking how Zambia’s gonna be transformed into a middle income country, have time to look at the fifth national development plan and vision 2030.

  253. wouldn’t it be so lovely just to see me & 1st lady Thandiwe on a dance floor, holding hands and moving to a slow jam while RB plays the flute???????!!!!

  254. Kaunda was a great man. He united Zambia under “One Zambia one Nation” motto. Among other things , a Prime Minister could come from any province. When Chiluba came to power the majority of his Ministers were from his tribal grouping.

  255. enjoy the moment guys, this is time to celebrate! Life is too short to spend all your life time agonising and complaining about everything!Don’t pretend u worried for the villagers-why don’t u live there with them so that u can help them in their chitemene system?Villagers are very happy pipo, infact much more happy than a lot of u folks here! They live and die happy pipo while most of u guys here are ever bitter and die from strokes, heart attacks & depression!Shed off that bitterness and enjoy the moment!Oh sorry I’ve to go now-Thandiwe is paging me!!!!!!!

  256. After Chiluba Levy planted a strong family tree. Most of his relatives were put in key gvt positions and diplomatic missions. Thats probably why MMD refushd Magande bcoz they thought he wud, in favour, maintain the family tree

  257. Sata is wasting his and out time by claiming vote rigging. International observers (whom he insulted by saying that they only came for a holiday have given their verdict – not the best way to bring people to your point of view). He has tried 3 times and lost. He should just retire for the good of the country and himself. I believe that the result is good in that it will bring the Bembas down a peg or two. I for one did not condone how Bemba was becoming the national language thru the back door. I am not against Bemba or any other language becoming the national tongue but the process should be open to debate and transparent.

  258. Has our new first lady ” Thandiwe” entered the Guiness World Book of Records as the youngest first lady? Honestly RB is a child abuser. He is morally corrupt

  259. Can some body advise me to who I can return my voters card as I have no use for it. What is the point. Seriously kindly give me the address so that I can send it asap

  260. Rigging is the only game MMD knows better but for how long. Tanzanians were brought in Congolese, Angolans. They are not cleaver. the are useless No unit we will never accept SATA will be my President no matter what happens.

  261. Will all pf supporters say “pabwatoooooooooooooooooooooo” – no, didn’t think so! I told you all wont be able to say it come monday…

  262. Sata can you see me? Am I clear to you? So much for flying around in chartered planes and choppers and what do you have to show for it?

  263. Koma vavuthadi kwa antu a PF. Ma results amene muna wina uko kwanu kuuBemba na ku Luapula simukana. Ma results ena iwo mwawa kana. Chimene mufunika kudziwa ndi cha kuti muyenera ku lankulitsa ndi antu onse amuno mu Zambia. Ngakhale antu amu towni olo amu mizi. Futinso ife taena sitifuna muntu wamene aputulula dziko. Mukatero mudzadzi peza mu state house. Mukasiya kakhalidwe kobweretsa antu amu Zambia pamodzi mudza luzanso. Futinso mufunika kuwa siya a Sata chifukwa ife taena timamva mantha tikaona nkhope yao futinso siti konda bodza lao chifukwa amati akamange manyumba mumasiku 90.

  264. Zambia twalisebana lelo tatwakalabe. MMd in Power again thru corrupted rural votes. atase, I’m an engineer now i’m going out of zambia to look for a well paying Job and I know Ai will get it. I have been patriotic enough but it seems the rural folks will be determining our destiny.

Zambia shalapo Naya. It is my desire nothing will improve here, I also blame HH. Tonga’s where he is a force kindly force him to see sense, he should bhave backed sata and become Prime minister. this way could have sold himself. Now Never ever shall he ever rule.

  265. #396 and your friends be real for once,Thandiwe is not a child! She is a college graduate and a full grown adult who can handle any man!The post is confusing you chaps bcoz now you’re just echoing whatever the post writes about RB.Be yourselves!Perhaps you’re just being jealous when you look at the lovely couple they are! She’s very lovely and I for one congratulates RB first and foremost for marrying such a beautiful girl and secondly I congratulate him for winning the elections-I hope they will bring him more successful erections!

  266. You can mock Sata and say millions of unpalatable words to Sata supporters, the fact will vindicate Sata. According to world ratings and the poverty data; Zambia remains one of the world’s poorest countries with more than 75% of the population living on less than $1 a day. The bigger chunk of those are in Northwestern Province, Eastern Province and a small size in Lusaka Province. And God bless they gave their vote to Teta and his lies. IGNORANCE. Sata does not survive on that amount. Teta will get another new Pajero. The copper wealth is now in the hands of foreigners. How wonderful. Kids go to school with no shoes and books. SHAME ON ZAMBIA.

  267. 403 – Good luck to you. You obviously dont understand the concept of democracy. As for looking for a job outside Zambia good luck – with unemployment rising globally, and the hoops you have to jump through to get a job in the west as well as the racism you will encounter, I sincerely hope you know what you are getting into.

  268. Pabwatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
    Mwamukoloooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
How harsh life can be?it is good to give people what they want but here it is like those in power have the guts to dictate the show.Cooked figures from the remotest places where we can hardly reach because of poor adminimistration,44 years after independence shan’gombo and other places are still ages behind.Fellow PF suppoters it is a bitter pill to swallow but let peace, love and unity prevail, long live Sata.

  269. Has anyone seen Sata lately or did he sink with his rotten titanic or perhaps he had another heart attack due to the disappointment of not waking up as a dictator once again. Please retire now ba mudala. Let your party build up it’s democratic credentials and get rid of its tribal affiliations. Come up with realistic policies for Zambians in the rural and urban areas and perhaps some of us might even vote for PF.

  270. Sata’s funders are not too pleased with the results and might be considering plan b. Red brick, I hope you’re on red alert.

  271. #409 Mbala Boy, explain the concept of democracy. I know it does not include vote rigging, or catching a returning officer with pre-marked ballots. So, what is wrong with someone leaving Zambia for green pasture, I cannot say greener as if where he is coming from it is green. The rate of unemployment anywhere in the world is mostly high to those with no education or are in saturated careers. This guy is an engineer. A professional. So, instead of discouraging him, I would rather we encourage him. Bro, you wont score if you don’t take a shot at the goal. Try.

  272. I hope Sata and his PF will now go for a national convention, elect leaders and for once aleast exibit democratic principles.
As for HH iam sure he will go underground and comeup again in 2010.The General, well the General will always be the General.
RB and MMD its always a wake up call but thanks to selfish pipo in the opposition they seem to always get away with it.
Its not rigging pipo its GREEDY POLITIANS who make it look like that.
No single party can un sit the ruling party….NEVER. These chaps have to unite or forever hold their peace!

  273. Nothing changes, the poor get poorer and the country gets rated as among the pooerst in the world.Politicians continue to enrich themselves dubiuosly.Elections are just a waste of valuable time and resources in an autocracy.

  274. Animal Farm guys!! The devil has never been embarassed, not a day. Cracky Zambians, where is the problem? Could not be with rigging or no rigging but rather the gap btn thoz in the urban and thoz in the rural.

  275. I think we will be wrong to be judges of others and yet even us we are imperfect, who are we to know the destine of the other person. Are we different from the pharisees of Jesus times.Lets not judge one and i agree totally that wen LPM was sworn in the same criticisms was labelled against him and where is Zambia today. We need to embrace each other whether losers or winners and we all ve one zambia wici we all ve to contribute to for our own development.Blame each other games dont make us develop

  276. HH, the young politician will never be president of Zambia. As long as he does not remove the “Tonga” tug to his name and party, only Lozi’s, Tonga’s, Kalubale’s and Kaonde’s might vote for him and he will forever remain a Vote spoiler like Miyanda. Try and look at the differences between him and the late Mazoka(MHSRIP), and the differences in the management of UPND. A coalition of PF and UPND with HH as vice would have clinched this election. Be real and stop been tribal, it never pays! Politics is about numbers and you can not just walk into govt. with just private sector experience.
    God bless ZED.

  277. after all is done, we rally behind the man Zambians have chosen and lets move this country forward. The next elections are not even very far, if we see anything wrong we change.

  278. number 416 – i just want him to be realistic. Ku bulaya is not all it is cracked up to be. Unemployment there is rising. They may even question the validity of his qualifications. As for vote rigging, these elections have generally been seen as fair and transparent. If you want to go on crying about vote rigging go on or shut up. I for one did not want my country to be ruled by a psychopathic dictator with a weak ticker. I am glad the bwato has sunk. Good riddance.

  279. PASTOR J,in your writing am seeing some wrong dropings of words. If surly you are a pastor check your words and pray.
Do not just write things that do not have healing power in it.A true child of has the healing power.
    Go bless you.

  280. It is hurting now but I can assure you PF & the people will speak again in 2011. MMD will not govern for ever. The opposition is watching them. They must deliver what they have promised. They are will have a hard time in the urban areas and that is fact.

  281. Its not for MMD to govern the next term, we are looking for someone credible enough to carry the day. LPM (MHSRIP) tried all his might though he commenced his presidency already a very sick man.
    SATA IS condemned meat..

  282. #417, Thami, about time you did something to help narrow the gap between the poor and the rich. Mere talk doenst yield anything…

  283. The boat has sank for good. PF chaps I used to tell you. Now your President is sick in RSA. Surely if he had won we were going to have another bye-election. Congrats MMD & RB

  284. Is it a coincidence that the so called MMD strongholds are always announced LAST, in 2001 elections when Mazoka lost,Western and North Western provinces were announced first, luapula and northern that were then MMD strongholds were announced last and as a result Mazoka’s led was cancelled. In 2006 and 2008, Western and North Western provinces considered MMD strongholds had to be announced last and ultimately cancel the PF’s led. WHY IS IT LIKE THAT? I guess that is the first time in almost 7 years we see FTJ flash the MMD symbol. Good times back for him. LPM must be turning in his grave.

  285. Yes chichi Rupiah you have won but we will see what plans you have for the people of zambia. I doubt if you will deliver well iwe chichi Lupiah

  286. Sata must retire and let his party elect new leaders, come 2011 they should form an alliance with upnd. The general and all other small parties must also consider disbanding and joining either pf or upnd, this is the only way we will get rid of mmd.

  287. Mr M.C. SATA, i thank you for what you have done. Muchmore, i would like to say that don’t lose courage. There hasn’t and i think that there will not be a man who is as courageous as you are. Don’t lose hope, fight on. If you are mearnt to be The President of The Reblic of Zambia, you will surely be one day. Thank you.

  288. 424 iam wit yall man….da boat sunk so badly all da 666000…….people perished shame on da sallior he didnt see the iceburg.captain sata go farming ala.

  289. #424 Mbala Boy, Sorry that you are open like a cup which accepts every thing and anything. Remember safe living generally makes for regrets later on. Sata was the best governor you all wanted in Zambia. Sata was the best Minister of Health you all wanted. How so do you declare him a dictator? When did pragmatism become dictatorship? Do you know the value of vision? It adds value to everything. What is RB’s vision for Zambia? Woodrow Wilson said,”If you want to make enemies, to change something”. That is why some of you hate Sata. You are afraid of change hence calling Sata a dictator when you know Sata has never ruled Zambia. He hates indiscipline, if that’s what you’re referring to.

  290. By the way someone please help me, What type of Bible is the president RB holding during this ceremony? Watchtower or Jesus of latter day Saints? plse look closely……

  291. Sata personally let me down because I thought the impression he created during campaign was what would have prevailed during voting, he has not broken any new ground. The votes maximum without apathy he would have got 800 thousand votes because his constituencies voted.

  292. #440 Kalos2020

Is thier a new difination of the word discipline on the blog? You say sata hates indiscipline. Halo is someone there? His mouth flows with incessant tirage of foul unprintables.

  293. Should there be need for mediation who will do it from within. KK and FTJ are certainly out since the have already shown where the belong. Zambia Centre for Dialogue (ZCID) is out since its pro MMD, Langtone Sichone the ZCID secretary was actively campaigning for MMD. The Deputy Chief Justice Mambilima, openly praised the work of the Electro Commission of Zambia. The Chiefs e.g Mpezeni, Nalubamba openly supported MMD. It therefore implies that there will be no internal capacity to deliver on disputes. Hence we would have to rely on outside help. What a shame. We need to have principled neutral players who are crowd pullers unfortunately our two former preidents have failed us on this score

  294. # 434 MMD has been in power, you cannot doubt their ability, if PF won then we will be worried of what to expect, whether you like or not MMD won clean and fair.Your president would not accept defeat we all know this, even yourself, try it within PF and make him stand for that post with say G Lubinda, if he loses he wa cheated. Its all bull we want Zambia to move forward peacifully, and MMD has the numbers, ability and talent to do so period.

  295. It is government’s role to DEVELOP Zambia and uplift it from to being the underdog of Sub Sahahran,Africa. At inependence Zambia was a well off middle class nation ,by far better than Botswana, but now we rank even lower than countries in Asia.Let the truth be told.

  296. #444

Out side help? you mean the external observers who declared the elections free and fair. You are in cuckoo land. Wake up sata lost square and level.

  297. #443, You cannot mention one foul language Sata used. You are confusing tirage with insults. You are confusing Ukufulwa no kutukana. When Sata follows the party constitution and disciplines the erring MPs, he is a dictator. When Mwanawasa canceled the position of VP in MMD, he was a hero. That was dictatorship. So you want Sata to be quiet even he sees all the wrongs being done to the voiceless people of Zambia? Shame on you.

  298. num 440 Sata lost. I personally did not want that man to rule Zambia. As a Zambian citizen I have the right to my opinion just as you do. If you are not able to see his weaknesses that is up to you. The only thing I know and am thankful for is that the boat has sunk. Period. Now nobody is perfect but for Sata to have ruled Zambia would have been a disaster. His dictatorial tendencies have been listed on these blogs on numerous occassions. If you want to support that is your indaba. In elections there are winners and losers. It just so happens that I am celebrating today and tomorrow because I am on the winning side. Let him sail away in his bwato.

  299. #451 Shame on me? Oh no shame on you, you just lost and you cant swallow the loss. Be man enough and accept, that is what a real man does. The sata that you imagine is non existent. The sata you have is a fictitious character in the dream comedy in cuckoo land.

  300. Like it not, the MMD is still popular what was not popular in this election was there candidate, if Sata wants he can stand in 2011 and he will be wired big time, the MMD have learnt their lesson, and what is worse if Banda intends to stand, watch what he will do in this next three years to win the hearts of the people, Mwanawas came in similar circumstances, 2011 will be harder rest assured. Kalos it is nice to see you back. I have my own observations regarding Hon Sata if he would run Government with the kind of language he exhibited at Mulungushi (You are the Bloody reporter, ask them) that is foul by any definition, you cannot execuse it on temper.

  301. Hey why is the “intellectual” Hakaivotela Heka only managed to amass great votes in his Tongaland again??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!

  302. Had HH agreed to be Sata’s VP, we could have been talking a different story. If It’s true that it’s GOD who gives us leaders, then this time around he has given us a wrong leader.

  303. I love this, most of you always talk rubbish, you did the same to LPM, leave RB alone, let the Man go to work, and leave his family alone too,it will be wise to talk about things that really matter to zambians.
    we have

  304. #452 Mbala Boy, winning is not the issue. It is so amazing that people from Mbala base their vote on what they read on this blog. Myopia. Hope the all family in Mbala and those in other places are also celebrating. Sorry, they can’t, they did not have breakfast to give them energy to celebrate. My bad. Anyway your choice won, but the people to suffer are those that you left behind in ZED. Selfish.

  305. SHAME AFTER BEING GIVEN A CHANCE FOR BETTER CHANGE,YOU VOTED FOR ‘SAME’. I HOPE AMERICA WILL NOT BE DUFT LIKE YOU HAVE DONE. SHAME ON ZAMBIA.

  306. CONGRTS RB………SHAME ON YOUR CRITICS.
I URGE YOU TO HELP FRED MEMBES ZAMBIAN AIRWAYS TO SAVE TO SAVE THE ZAMBIAN BUSINESSMEN WHO ARE THE MAJOR CLIENTELE

    NO SOUR GRAPES GUYS.

  307. 408 # You can mock Sata and say millions of unpalatable words to Sata supporters, the fact will vindicate Sata.

  308. The vultures have landed (on Zambia’s staggering economy) huh! I shudder to contemplate what will happen to this country in the next 2+ years!

  309. Kalos2020, Ministrial discontent we can live with, Government wide discontent we cannot, if Sata was really a good minister of health (sic: instill fear in the lead), why is it that the standards of health have gone down. Is it possible that he was so dictatorial that he never left any systems that would sustain a good health system.

  310. I told you guys that its RBB carying the day and you where insting on the TITANIC which hit into two big ice berg called MMD and UPND. This is pearce we where talking about. SATA is not a presidential material but a good barking dog to keep thieves away. He is an opposition material not to rule.

    Go RBB and rule us.

  311. #466

NW Province will boast of the largest copper mine in Africa, Eastern Province feeds the whole nation. And you say they are poor. Dream on.

  312. Sata is not my hero. The wrongs being done to the people of Zambia with pretext of democracy is what infuriate the masses you see at his rallies. It is what he stands for that I support. People who live for themselves are in a mighty small business. I am not one of those, neither is Sata. Just because I am abroad does not mean all is well. People at home are suffering. MMD cannot deliver. Remember most of you are playing these issues. PLAY NOW PAY LATER, PAY NOW PLAY LATER. That is the stance I have taken on the issues of Zambia. We shall pay heavily in the future. Remember Kenya thought all was well until that one fateful one day. VISION.

  313. Where are you? you prayed and insulted, called names and many more, so the best candidate has won.
Congratulations RB 72, taking Zedians forward.

Viva H H, you will make it one day and enjoy the lovely day dear.

  314. I wish to commend all the Zambian people who turned out to vote for our 4 candidates. I also want to commend all the parties that participated in the elections, i.e. PF, UPND, MMD and Heritage. I want to thank God for the peace we enjoyed during the elections. May God bless all Zambians.

  315. Ati “Eastern Province feeds the whole nation. And you say they are poor”. Iwe iwe iwe # 471, what does E/Province feed you with, Mbeba (mice)?

  316. You guys argue like Sata will be in Government for the first time, people were stealing money under Sata’s nose, if he was really the principled man then why didn’t he leave the Government. Now for me Chitala and Dean Mung’omba had more credibility than Honourable Sata. That is what set Mwanawasa apart from the rest.

  317. #456 With all the machinary at his desposal your RB just managed to scrap thru and you call that popular what wagwash! One who lost in areas where the majority of intellectuals live and won in areas where the poorest and least enlightened people can not be said to be popular! That is why we want the 50 +1. But we know mmd are afraid of this clause.

  318. #475 Livingstone

“The Best Candidate”? Think again. RBB was rejected by the people that drive our economy (the tax payers). And you call that best sure?

  319. Guys let give the guy a break and see what he has to offer on the table, don’t just judge without seeing his capabilities. we said the same things when Levy came in power but he suprised us and became a very good leader. we all need change we just hope this will be the change we were waiting for. And no 106 welsaid about mugabe, am sure he will see that he can also let go and let other pipo lead his country.

    kabwe. SA

  320. Thank God Sata(n) lost the 3rd time again.Zambia does not need a lunatic for president.bembas have seen that their tribalism cannot take them anywhere, zambia is for everyone. They even started speaking Bemba everywhere thinking everyone liked thier ever tribal dictator,GOD FORBID.

  321. BA MMD YOU THIVES WE DONT NEED YOUR SYMPATHY, WOULD YOU BE HAPPY STEALING FROM THE POOR PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA? TIME WILL COME, GOD IS THE OVERSEER,ALL THE PLUNDERERS HAVE RESURRECTED, WE’RE WATCHING YOU ,NEVER DROP CHILUBA’S CASES YOU SHALL FACE THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA THUGS.

  322. Kalos2020, I hear you personally, what we have done is postpone our suffering, like I always say, I stand to be corrected, for me RB should present us with pleasant surprise, possibly with Sata just knowing that he is President some people would have started working. Look at the inertia in Government, nothing gets done and people are busy ululating, maybe you need a dictator to do that, look at where Ghana is as a result of a man who cam through the barrel of the gun.

  323. 3474 Kalos

You wish ill to Zambia. You are terribly hate not because Sata would have brought progress, no. I will tell you one thing for sure. Zambia is no different from any country on earth. Where we are is governed wholly by Gods own mysterious pre-ordained plans. In wrath he could visit us because that is what we natuarally deserve, but mercy he doth remember and that is where we are. Check around the world, there countries far worse than us. See DRC, SOMALIA, ZIM, AND MANY MORE. Dont wish ill to your country, that may be fulfilled on you alone. Rather wish your country well. PF will have another chance and perhaps win by the permission of God.

  324. 461 – you dont know anything about my bululus kumwitu ku Mbala. You dont know what I do for them and what they do for me so lets not personal here. You are the same people who look down on rural people and say they dont know anything that is why they voted for MMD. Sata is a dictator. Look at the way he behaved when he heard the results. Is that somebody on whom to confer the dignity of the presidency? Our democracy is still young and fragile, we cant jeorpardise it now for Satana’s ego. As for his ideas – completely half baked. You cut taxes but increase govt spending. One day you are xenophobic against Chinese, the next day they are ok. Mubwato awe twakana.

  325. Thanks to the well thinking people of North western, Northern, Eastern, central and Western Province, this disaster called sata will never ever have the opportunity to spread his dictatorial tendancies beyond the borders of his pesornal-to-holder company called PF. Did anyone see how sata scolded the journalist who asked him a simple question? I really understood why all his followers are unruly whether they are kaponyas or educated. Looks like the only qualification you need to belong to PF is lumpenism. God has shown favour to zambia by giving us the best of the worst. RB might not be the ideal but at least he has saved us from the snake

  326. Eastern Province feeds Zambia. With what? Northwestern Province to have one big mine, so what? If Zambia itself does not benefit from mining companies in Zambia today, how so do you expect those Kaonde’s to benefit? You seem not to understand Northwestern Province politics. Only four families running Northwestern, Late Mulemba’s, late John Kalenga’s, Kavindele’s, one more family in Solwezi. Sorry I have forgotten their name. It has been sometime. The rest are non factors and will not see a penny from those mines.

  327. #478

Eastren province mbebas are a delicacy well appreciated worldwide. Besides this delicacy, do you know that the majority of maize for internal consumption and export of late is from Eastern Province?

  328. Yet again the drame unfolds in Zed, Nyama Soya has won the elections, Makishi dancer has lost and has gone into oblivion. Sata lost because he is only a man of action and not economy, RB won because of those villagers and HH lost because of his Tonga fellows, need I say more!

  329. The battle is has been fought and is over, or so it seems.
The MMDs win should be a big big lesson for Sata and Hichelema, the two had an opportunity and were better placed to help in the CHANGE that most of us zambian were crying for but they blew it, Zambians want to see politicians work together and put their selfishness aside. Imagine if these two leaders had agreed to work together, the story would have been different and am sure most Zambians would have been smiling.

  330. Ba LT what is you report on

INFORMATION minister Mike Mulongoti has been admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH…”
    Source “The Post Zambia”

  331. IFYABUPUBA FYAFULA MU ZAMBIA!! MWANYA BONSE MWEBA VOTELE MMD COZ U’R ENEMIES OF DEVELOPMENT. AGAIN I SAY MWANYA!!!!

  332. The country will continue being auctioned to foreigners grabbing land from villagers and calling them squatters on a piece of land they have occupied for more than 70 years. Giving away God given wealth to grow China’s economy, putting up with mulongoti and and Teta, increased condition of service to MP’s and ministers, shooting of defenseless students without any punishment to the police officers involved etc we need to have the country in our own hands!

  333. #494 “Yet again the drame unfolds in Zed, Nyama Soya has won the elections, Makishi dancer has lost and has gone into oblivion. Sata lost because he is only a man of action and not economy, RB won because of those villagers and HH lost because of his Tonga fellows, need I say more” NO! STOP SAYING MORE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY!

  334. Boss mr King cobra !What happened? Village people dont Like snakes so in your case ,you are a scare to both investers and voters.

  335. Ichi chintu ichi tumwene
amuleke Sata ateke, well Sata entertained us.The man put up a spirited fight.

What destroyed PF is their image builders the post,HH’s sympathisers switched camp after realing the battle was btn MMD and PF.

Large Clowds dont amount to election, we cant be rule by a newspaper. We cannot have a papers dictating what is best for Zambia, they thought we were dull am could not make the right choice.

PF shot themselves in the foot,by threatening everyone, we will fire ,this one ,that one……

  336. ABS has finally paid off, not to say that RB was my prefered candidate but at least we dont have a kaponya in State House, you should look at his face on those posters.

  337. RB needs his own strategy to fight corruption because LPM’s strategy was not very effective. Chiluba should be forgiven, and the Task force on corruption abolished to give more power to the ACC.

  338. Yaba MMD at it again.
Ine naleka kuvota manje. i will never vote in my life again coz it seems mmd will never leave power..what is the essence of standing in those queues for nothing…
it seems only God can remove MMD from power…Navileka vima Vote

  339. # 504 the truth hurts I know but accept it as that, the Tonga’s all voted for HH where have you been? All those who were bribed are really smiling I wish they gave me some too.

  340. We are back after the elections. My fellow Pf Supporters lose no sleep or heart…As for me PABWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for Life!!!!

  341. Anyway, what is more important is that the country stays together. We are all Zambians at the end of the day and we want the best for our country even though we might not agree how to do so. However, I still think that Sata is a very divisive figure so if he loved the country more than himself he would stay away from politics. People either love him or hate him. There does not seem to be a middle ground with him.

  342. I killed tembo thinking i will rule, forgetting what the late Chawinga said that there shall never be president sata in state house.

  343. am not a sata supporter, but lets respect the man for hes given mmd some challenges in parliament.for 3 provinces to vote for him shows that he had something to offer and what mmd should do is consult from him and get the country moving

  344. No Ba Mudala #513, in this country there are no to tuntemba political parties, except for those who abandoned and jumped on the MMD campaign, Like FDD, APC, NGP,NRP,ULP these are tuntembas but as for PF and UPND, these are forces to reckon with, these two parties have BALLS!!!!

    VIVA OPPOSITION!!

  345. Pabwato guyz where are you,I cant see anyone after tha boat sunk with their most experiemced captain Chilufya.

Personally i was for HH,but when i saw that the post were removing my candidate from people’s conciousness i switch to R.B.I even stoped buying their paper, it was a torture every day to read about Mwamukolo, pabwato even when i didnt want PF to win.In the next election let newpapers stay out of the race, they are a disgrace.this is a lesson to PF that you dont win an election in papers.Clowds are a very bad way of measuring a candidates success, infact the post said that a few weeks before elections in one of their editorials.Opinion polls were a share waste of resources.

  346. #490 Kalos

You do yourself a great deservice by your unbridalled rantings. Try to cool down and you will discover that what has taken over you are your emotions. I honestly dont understand people who support sata. Sata has a problem with logical thinking. I dont blame him for his lack of education but rather his lack of wisdom. Look, my freind, how on earth would he have failed to be president if he had teamed up with HH? If you are honest enough you will agree with me that that was a huge mistake. He never leanrt from 2006. For me that is suffient enough to judge Sata’s character.

  347. Pabwato………………………………………………….

  348. I told you that failure of the Pact due to tribal differences will not help the zambia. Bemba tribalism is so naked that supporting sata became difficult for me even when he had good anti-slavery policies. Here in Southern we supported Chiluba more than northerners even when easterners remained die-hard supporters of unip. in 2001 northerners abondoned Andy, the best man for zambia at that time. Today southern is abandoning sata. Thank V.J who bandaged himself with ballot papers ‘kumakosi’ otherwise satan could have won. In fact we need a small xenophobic violence against Bembas here in Southern so that they can go and develop their remote northen. mwaalya manyoko!!!

  349. If for once we stop looking at Zambian politics from a tribal point of view, it is easy to classify Zambian voters the American way. The Tongas are like typical conservatives or Republicans. They are wealthy generators and more likely to support Capitalist ideas. The Bembas are typical Socialists or Democrats. They are blue collar workers who populate most Urban areas and are most likely to support Socialist ideas. These two groups are always on the opposite end of the political spectrum. They can not mix. That explains why a PF UPND alliance can not work. Traditionally the two groups have been battling for power from independence days…ever heard of UPP and ANC, it was the same. The oth

  350. #506 are a Zambian how can Chiluba forgiven? The let all the prisoners free through out the country. The fella must be either found guilty or not by the courts of low chapwa

  351. . The other tribal groupings in Zambia are in between (Liberals).
To win an election in Zambia you have to either blend the two ideologies and come up with an unworkable mixture (mixed economy ideology…KK), or pretend to be a Capitalist when in fact you are a die hard Socialist(Capitalist impersonator & trade unionist…FTJ) or adopt the Third Way by uniting all liberal lining groups. That explains why MMD won the elections

  352. Zambians dont learn. RB rigged to be president. Miyanda calls it free and fair. Typical nonsense.
He has to employ his relatives and those of his wives’ where does that leave those in Shangombo, Imusho, Chama North and Chembe ..in the dust. Threes of corruption and plunder lies ahead. Civil servants you missed USD1000 as minimum

  353. Sata has kept the MMD thugs on the check and people are asking him to retire – who will do this for us – the Zambians. FDD, UNIP etc are all MMD. I have never seen anything like our impoverished opposition leaders.
Yes, indeed it was PF against MMD, UNIP, FDD …….
    Viva Sata
    Viva PF
    On the Boat forever!

  354. Georgia Russia, Morning.
Good to see that you are going strong in these issues I abandoned the blog for a while because of the way I felt from Friday, when some one showed how MMD was winning, a sad thing indeed, but we are picking up our pieces and moving on…Going back to the drawing board…

    VIVA OPPOSITION!

  355. Why do people think Sata can fix any of problems in Zambia? He was part of the most destructive government Zambia has ever had, all the full years he was there. Judging what we see and hear, MMD at the moment is best bet Zambia has.I hear pipo say when a mine is opened the local people gain nothing, what of jobs? Thats all they need to get what else? This is a capitalist world, get your salary and invest, there are no hand-outs as Sata promised his brain-washed people. He claims to fix, when he was the one who embarassed zambia to this level we are in now. PF and UPND, start being national parties not regional.

  356. We have to accept what the people of Zambia have said, Mr. Sata may you try to groom someone to contest the 2011 elections now. You stop bickering and crying over spilt milk. GOD bless you.

  357. The country is clearly divided into 2 major camps: MMD and PF. Why can’t RB consider making SATA his VP and the PF as part of his government? Surely this would be a better reflection of the election results.

Except where the winning candidate has a landslide victory of say 60% or higher, I think the electoral laws should be amended so that the 2 top positions are automatically filled by the top 2 winners(Effectively having a government of national unity).

  358. It was a shame to see Nawakwi, Saki, Ngondo, Tilyenji, Chris Tembo and other Opposition parties.

Where is your pride Nawakwi, saki and others,Its a shame that the sata phobia made these guyz loose their senses.

    Will they refuse if R.B

  359. Pf and UPND,i blame all this on you….You should have formed a pact and thats the only way you would have managed to uproot these power hungry MMD guys..\
RB and MMD no matter how much you have succedeed in rigging these elections, you are still losers Sata is my president for geeee.

    Pabwatooooooooo for life….
Viva MCS,,PF will rule in 2011 wait and see.

  360. am sure HH is hibernaing only to appear in 2011 – if Sata retires now, there will be nowone to make them do the right things. We have no opposition in Zambia. Tizanya kuli ba crook ba MMD. Bene Emily Sikazwe are no more and with Lucy Sichone gone – kaya. Indeed Edith is MMD, Saki is MMD, Nevers is MMD. Dear Lord!

  361. 511. The Spectator!!
You need prayer. How old are you? PF has a short life considering that its leader has very little remaining life following the loss of elections.
Rest in peace in the sank boat
    Twafwila mu bwatooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  362. Well all is said and done let us accept the result and begin to work. There is no need to cry over spilt milk. The moment you fragment the vote it is impossible to win. To expect that the voting pattern would have changed between 2006 and now was wishing for too much.

  363. Short-Mazabuka #523,

Am sure you are just joking about that Violence thing against the Bembas in Southern, RIGHT?! Trust that is one area you don’t want to venture in…Zambia is so poor now to engage in violence will not only undermine the little progress we want to make but will KILL this peaceful nation….So watch and guard your little brain jealously so that it does not fall off any how…First time seeing you on LT…No wonder the backwardness…

    VIVA UPND & PF!!!!

  364. I think Nevers is the Next president. Come wednesday he will be announced as new V/President and he’ll be the sponsored candidate for 2011….

Opposition need to play their cards well…

    HH vs Mumba vs Lubinda?????

    Lets plan smartly!!

  365. #520, I agree with you. Probably I am getting emotional about this. But I am not ranting. I don’t really support Sata. I have time and again said that I cannot understand Sata. But the issues of the day as I know them will not be sorted out by MMD. Too much crooks. Even if I hate Sata, that does not constitute stealing votes. As much as we hate him, there are those that like him becoz he has sold himself as a pragmatist. I have said here that if Sata talks as much as he does, when does he think? Look here Sir/Madam, I would rather you steal my dollar, but don’t touch on my rights. Don’t touch on people’s choices. Don’t touch on their children’s futures for the sake of Teta’s.

  366. Sata should appoint someone to replace him in PF if that will salvage something for his ego. No convention in the whole life of PF. Sata will never rule Zambia.

If pf can have a more sane individual, perhaps some of us could be persuaded. Sata is a loser and will not associate with losers.

  367. Though am not involved in politics but i think sata offers good checks and balances.Without sata MMD can be the worst party in Govt.So let us help mr sata to accept and continue with his role of supervision on the state performance.

  368. Until such a time when the 50 + 1 is enacted, I SHALL NEVER EVER VOTE anymore pa Zed. Its too much of the rural vote being the decider in an election when WE that HIGHT TAX payers are denied our choice.

For now I only hope RBB has learned why he tax payers didn’t want MMD in power and perhaps borrow the ideas of opposition to improve OUR status. Looking at my pay, in contrast to my qualification and job description, its really sad. There is just too much going to government through “TAX” and little left for me and some to send to my relatives IN THE RURAL areas for survival.

  369. What has sata done to deserve VP seat, PF guyz you are now out of your mind.It looks like your vote was based of sympathy.

Suggesting Sata for Veep is unacceptable and is a mere ploy to console the PF leader. There aree 4 candidates who lost, why pick on Sata for Veep.

    Understand democracy,

  370. #538.Anonymous,

you Don’t need to know how old i am for you to post any of your single track minded rubbish… I can see that you only see things that are within your nose range! How myopic!!!

  371. # 529. The Spectator!! yes my friend, its was really something bitter to accept.i have lived in zambia since birth and have seen how mmd has made my life diffcult.its not been an easy 17 years, its easy to support rb wen u outside zambia.we feel the pain of fake promises.lusaka.copperbelt,southern reject them.there shud be a serious reason to why people in urban areas have reject them.

  372. Beginning of the end for Zambia.Alas.Rupia does not know what to do
now.KK and Chiluba all in MMD? Noways. These guys are up to something.
Soon the real struggle for power will start because MMD is finished to be swallowed by the new United Itergrated Party. And while this battle goes on the village voters will suffer more.Already the fertilizer price of 50,000 pin has been reversed.

  373. #551.Georgia Russia

The reason is simple and in not many words, it is simply greediness! No will power to develop the nation only determined to enrich and service their pockets…Watch out for corruption at its best in Zambia…the kind we have not seen before…I predict the shooting up of prices on essential commodities, as it is we have over spent…Open your eyes fellow Zambians!

    VIVA OPPOSITION!

  374. #525 I suggested that Chiluba be forgiven because LPM’s anti corruption drive was Chiluba centered, and it never worked well. The task force was formed to investigate Chiluba and his clonies, even after many years of investigation and paying lawyers like Nchito huge sums of money ,he has not been found guilty. The task force became more like a white elephant obstructing the real fight against corruption being done by the ACC. Therefore RB should abolish the task force, forgive Chiluba and start a new strategy to fight corruption.

  375. Missing person!!!!
Any one seen my president sata,i have searched every where and cant see him
    Somebody please help..

  376. #557 The Spectator!!

You are 110% correct. Nothing more than that. How I wish the Tax that I pay could go to good use rather than end up in a SELFISH individual’s pocket. Seventeen years sure, and now another three! God help us.

  377. Today is marked for national mourning, the Pabwato capsized with more than 680,000 feared dead but the death tow may rise. It hit two(2) big rocks…

Ba Zambia lets back RB and develop our country, no leader will come down to give us work. Let it start with us and lets support each other at the levels we are at.

  378. viva MMD. No one should say votes were manipulated. The opposition have themselves to blame, they couldn’t form a pact which would have made them win the just ended elections.. the only way forward is for the opposition is to support RB period!

  379. VJ NIBA MUNA! MWANA MUSANKWA. MUGABE ALSO CONFESSED! BUT GUYS REMEMBER THAT THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING. TIME FOR RIGGING AND NOT RIGGING,(VJM CHAPTER 811 VSERSE 311008)

  380. Kaya ba Banda if he can make a difference. I just have no confidence in him and won’t recognise him as my president. I am just proud there is peace in Zambia. I would have loved ubwato to bring some sense to our govt

  381. 474. Kalos2020,
What is amazing is that people think that SATA was going to remove their suffering. SATA was with Chiluba for 10 years and he failed to remove suffering of the Zambians. As if the 10 years was not enough, SATA championed Chiluba’s ‘third term’ to the very bitter end. Was SATA interested in removing the suffering of Zambians? Do you tell me that SATA believed that Chiluba was removing the suffering of people? SATA believed that Chiluba was removing the suffering you are talking about. And that is why he wanted him to continue for ‘third term’ so that he could continue removing people’s suffering. Are you calling what Chiluba did as ‘alliviating suffering’?

  382. First Lady is angry that the current President Mr.Banda is married to a 28 yrs old woman, There is nothing wrong a man can marry a woman of any age if the woman is an adult.Young women in Zambia it is okay to marry a man you love he can even be 80 yrs old remember age is just a number some of us are youth at heart.

  383. Am still mourning our loss to ci Mphuno ci kabwalala ca ma votes. The other ci puba ci HH will never rule Zambia because of his silly pride. ine cifukushi.

  384. # 558…we needed him to start work on monday…..i wish it should have been done on friday, i feel deeply for all the people in zambia, Mr SATA did alot of good for zambia, but his not a kind of person you want to be president.

  385. If the MDD will continue to still votes then we cant wait to urge Sata and HH to think of plan B, bush formular to fight the war and most of us are now prepared to fight the MDD and their security wings. We just nee 12 months of training. We will use two fronts, Southern and the Northern Fronts to Sourthern and Luapula and Northern first. Take this seriously. the peace slogan symbolises cowardise.VIVA WAR AGAINST MDD

  386. the following chaps are back in mmd with full force

    fredrick chiluba-want corruption case dropped
    vernon mwanga-job seeker
    sakwiba sikota-job seeker
    ben mwila-job seeker
    edith nawakwi-job seeker
    tilyenji kaunda-job seeker-no direction
    never mumba-job seeker
    cosmo mumba-job seeker bootlicker
    kenny ngondo-job seeker and bootlicker

u will see new ministers, some will go in foriegn mission, new cars, hefty salaries, ncc wont be amended by 2011.u wont hear of sinjembela and sikongo till 2011,thats MMD for u,they up no gud

  387. #575 Relax prepare for 2011 let me see you in Lusaka,If you are damn pissed they get involved come to Lsk and help organize for 2011

  388. there is a moral to this story..the opposition should get their act together if they really want to change things. 2011 isn’t far and I will be more enthused about HH then but this time round it was unpractical to have an opposition president with no allies in the National Assembly. #554 and other doomsday prophets there’s no need for hysteria- the alternative, a PF victory, would have sent a number of our investors packing. Give the man a chance and see what he’ll do.

  389. When I informed my friend from a neighboring country on the outcome of the results and the repeat of the 2006 pattern he simply laughed it and asked me if I expected an African government to change that easily through elections. I clearly understood what he meant and realised that this MMD will haunt us for the seeable future unless we act differently as opposition and people of Zambia. Court action is not going to work but may at least help to reveal some of the misdeeds. We certainly need one opposition front so that it is made more difficult to play tricks . Sata and PF should not give up.

  390. Next it will be Monkeys from rural areas to be our Presidents.Putting RB to state house is the worst thing we have done. This Guy will be the Worst President Zambia has ever Produced.

  391. Coming to think of why KK appeared to be happier than RBB on inauguration of RBB, KK was defeated in 1991 before he could get to the end ofthe term in 1993 (3 years). Now I think is his time to complete his three years, no wonder he was so happy that vi MMD won because he KNOWS it his his turn to rule AGAIN!

    Ala bwafya.

  392. #564. Voter Apathy in 2011

And that is what hurts!!! How I wish my Grandma and nephews in the villages would understand, that when I send them money it is out of sacrifice and love for them, because from it I am heavily taxed…with little change or non at all to where it goes…

Now when they are voting (Villagers) they base their decision the little Maize and Fertilizer they are given to make matters worse a CHITENGE infuences their thought pattern, things i buy for them on regular…Very disheartening indeed!

  393. Surely refrain from the suggestion that michael chilufya sata should have worked together with the Great HH,the man would have poisoned the young man!!!! and that would have been the end for the upcoming HH.
In Zambia again things have fallen apart,we are really maknig history on the world map for wrong reasons hahahaha!!!!
Lets wait and see,we are back in the 19th century as you know power is sweet and absolute power corrupts!!!
The image builders are smilling, lets ask RB how he is going to pay them!!!!! an added prestige for the c.v
Zambia is a great Zambia God Will never forsake us,he will be our God and truth will be told.

  394. MMD winning is ok it is the opportunity for the opposition to reposition organize to take over the Parliament and the Presidency in 2011

  395. # 534 analyst: Giving Sata VIP position is ulter rubbish, Zambians lets not reason with sympathy. this man has an insatiable appetite for power and he would destabilise MMD to a level that they will fail to win 2011. RB will have a VIP from one of the provinces that delivered this election…FULL STOP. This has been the trend and practice in MMD. so vip this time will come from either western, northwestern or central. VIVA MMD for life

  396. I really feel sorry for people in western province who the MMD has turned into door mats to be every time there elections. i want to believe our Lozi brothers and sisters are intelligent enough and they’ve learnt something never mind the pace. i dont think MMD would that in Luapula.

  397. #588 SPECTATOR

You are insulting us villagers. We had our choice just like you did. Blame the greediness of your satan. We will also not give our chibwantu which is number one.

  398. I take strong exception to dull pipo who keep saying “how can our fate continue to be decided by villagers”. Who told you that a kaponya in mandevu is a better zambian than a farmer in nakonde or sikongo? That is very uncivilised thinking, muchinje. We are all zambians irrespective of where we reside, so lets respect each other. Most of these same town-dwelling kaponyas dont even pay any tax, at least the rural voter produces the maid to feed the kaponya. And good for you, the villagers you disrespect so much will continue determining the course of this nation becoz at least they are more practical in their thinking, they dont get swayed by empty populist promises. Viva rural zambia!!

  399. Lets us go to war with the MDD and their security wings since it looks like the security wings only favour the MDD, period!

  400. #572 zedclass, good advise you are giving the young ladys but know that at 80,there is power failure on a man’s side ka,ila kosa master

  401. #580. Georgia Russia

Mudala wandi that is well put, there is no better way to tell it…you have just said has it is…Now can you imagine the strain on our already strained treasury!!!

I wish i Could go away, but I will stick around to fight for the betterment of my country, the only place i feel safe!!!!

    WAY TO GO GEORGIA!

  402. #597

If you are so angry, why not jump in the nearest lake, you could invite sata as well. I saw him on the Post frnt page with his neck sinews clearly visible almost spitting out venom.

  403. From now until 2011, it gonna be wako ni wako with corruption. I just hope nothing much trickles down to the villgers( thankfully my mum is in Chingola) to bring daylight to these slow learners.

  404. why were children lining up for bwezani is he gonna become like king MSWATI .FERTILIZER has become mathematical .where are we going?

  405. I would like to thank all that voted for MMD! If I were a voter I would never have voted for PF, they just don’t make sense. I was hoping for Anything But Sata! That clown is worse than a joke! MHSRIP!

  406. The outcome of this election is “shocking” and some people are mistaking shock with peace. it’s like someone slaps you in the face and pats you on your back that you are such a peaceful person so there will be no trouble. Ok, Zambians are docile and this is mistaken for peace. If there is no justice, where is the peace tag coming from? Sata raised a pertinent issue about differences in the electoral registers of 2006 and the current in some rural areas and his queries were just brushed aside with impunity! What an injustice! Anyway, not all days are Mondays, so goes a wise saying. I WILL NEVER VOTE AGAIN!

  407. Any rumours on the VP? I mean new cabinet for Nyama beans? Do people like Mulongoti & Teta stand any slim chance or it’s going to Ba mama Maureen?

  408. #596 Sarah, bauze banvesese. The villager understands that you cannot build Choma-Itezitezi road in 90 days, but the kaponyas think so.

  409. 579. Mumbwa for Real change,
Are you PF? Now let me tell you one thing: PF stood a big chance of winning this time around but their violent behaviour caused some voters even in Lusaka to change their minds and vote for either HH or MMD. You cant be so violent. I have a cousin in Mumbwa area who told me that most people in the area dont like SATA because they believe he is too rough and hash. They want someone who is kind to people, someone who can show love to other people.
Now, from what you are saying I see that you have concluded you can never win an election. And it appears all of you are too rough and violent even within yo party. God may never allow PF to power with that behavior.

  410. #523 Short -Mazabuka, you are a dissappontment. This era doesn’t need pipo like you that advocate such primative ideas.

  411. 602. osama bin zed boyi I am fine just recovering actually trying to recover from the Elections, a rude shock indeed…But watch this space…Zambia gone to the dogs, have you seen how they paraded them yesterday?! Kafupi is now free and healthy to attend Public and special gatherings…MMMMH!!!! Ala twachula, we are going to experienc the agony of 17 years in 3 years…

  412. Finally allow me to thank the Post, they tried the best to educate us about RB’s long fingers but fi kamushi fya uku ku side. Just thinking aloud, how about partially effecting Barotse Establishment which would comprise only Western and Northwestern, probably even Ndola rural.

  413. The 50 %+1 system can not work well in Zambia, especially that politicians do not want to unite. Lets maintain the simple majority like RB won, its painful to the loser but democracy is a game of numbers.

  414. Worried about Haisha in Southern Province. Please lets swallow our pride or else, MMD is wamuyaya. Advise your HH to be a national leader and not be a selfish leader. Umunwe umo tausala inda. Lets work to gether and defeat this devil called MMD. 2011 is not too far. Lets work together and put to rest VJ, Teta, Aka, Kalala (ECZ),Mbita,Mateyo (ZP), Chisuzi, Ka Chiluba etc. etc. etc. In a revolution, we burry personal and tribal interests. Remember Chachacha uprising. Balongo bami, jimulai namupopwela.

  415. Ati chiluba walks to freedom? Any way, he has always been free. and you so called Lusaka dweller, you can go and hang! VIVA RB!! Mwala dabwa…..

  416. I like HH’s performance in the elections. He did not have backing from other parties like MMD and PF but managed to get the vote of many Zambians. HH has a lot of potential, being young and still energitic. Now, what HH must do is to revise his campaign strategy. Over promissing is not an advantage to the Zambians because they have been cheated to long so they would rather have more reasonanble promisses for them to believe. Let also HH begin to tell people that they need to be hardworking; nobody promisses that he would cause Zambians to be hardworking and priority oriented. You cant have a nation where evryone wants to save money so that they can have laxiury instead of investment.

  417. MMD winning is ok it is the opportunity for the opposition (HHH + Sata)to come together , reposition and organize to take over the Parliament and the Presidency in 2011. Crooks method or leakage sometimes do work well. Remove the Tonga or Copperbelt syndrome, or you will never rule this country. Please team up and fight our greatest enemy corrupt MMD govt.Pride shud be removed, just come together and remove the tribe element. RB featured well in all provinces, well balanced. Meastro please, advise your haisha to swallow the pride. Let them redeem us. See KK, FTJ + Edith came together to fight for a good cause (jobs coz they are broke)

  418. #618 The Post messed themselves up. Now they have to redeem themselves in the public eye and re-build the people’s confidence in the paper or they are dead. Tall order that, and they should not even imagine that RB has a vendetta against them. He has more important work to attend to.

  419. 597.Mumbwa for Real change

I am one of those who are well sold to the opposition and is very much knowledgeable of MMD’s failures which are more than their successes! But advocating for war my friend NO! It looks colorful when you are watching it on TV in a Movie with all those, Flames and Blood and other special effects…but in reality it is very devastating, look no further, Congo DR, Rwanda, Burundi and Sudan to mention but a few…I can tell from your thinking you are still growing up just like that Short-Mazabuka!

    VIVA PEACE!!!

  420. #597 you in the EU, please just get to Georgia and speak to them, and read the statement in the sunday times of what Brig Gen Godfrey Miyanda said, who apparently is a war planner.

  421. HH has already gone into hybernation….he will only resurface in 2011 only to find the mmd have adopted another one for rigging.

  422. All power comes from above. That is, all evil and good power.God raises leaders for every nation and no leader can come into power except it be permitted by God.
By foreknowledge God knew all the time just who would lead this country at this partocular time in human history. So nothing is out of cater. All the wrong things and the right things that may have gone with the past election, which have ushered in R B ‘s reign were all cogs in a wheel of eternity moving together in a predeterminate manner to bring to pass that which the Omniscient God had always known all the time to come to pass.
If God did not know about any detail of this election well in advance, He would not be God. So the

  423. This thing of opposition coming together just to dislodge mmd sickens me. How is a merger between an economic manager and the 90 days myth supposed to work?
Signing off now. The job has been done and it’s time to get down to work. See you in 2011.

  424. #662 are you on the same soils as us? if you were you would have known that even at the last rally in Mandevu all the opposition MMD + FDD + UNIP + SAKs + Nevers + young generations party all stood on the podium against Sata. PF sent shivers & shock waves. Ask everyone around it was Sata who sent the running around. Give credit where it is due.
    Viva Sata
    Viva PF

  425. Congratulations Mr Rupiah Banda for winning these election and ultimately becoming my/our fourth Zambian President. Mwajata nchito mpati ba-MMD. Mwabeleka kapati nkaambo uutayidde Micheal Chilufya Sata nikwaluunga wacinyonyoona cisi cesu.Ba-president Hakainde Hichilema, twalumba kapati mulimo ngomwaka cita waku tugwasha kuti Sata atazundi mu-election. Andinwe ba-Miyanda kumucisola ndiza bumwi buzuba muyakuzunda. My new President Mr Banda take careful care and please do the needful to us all as Zambians.I urge you to unite us as “One Zambia, One Nation” for Sata and his imagebuilders have brought tribalism to Zambia.I know you are good enough even though the best was HH and better is Miyanda.

  426. However, when we say we are for peace it should never at any point be deemed as a position of weakness or to mean we are docile….but a sign of strength!

    VIVA OPPOSITION! PABWAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOO FOR LIFE!!!

  427. ZED1 YOU ARE RIGHT,,,, IN FACT BAUZE BAVENSESE…. ATI MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET WHEN HE HAS SPENT SO MUCH MONEY IN PRTEVIOUS ELECTIONS AND WANTS TO RECOVER BY GOING TO PLOT ONE! WAI LASHA………NOW RB HAS ARRIVED ON THE POLITICAL ARENA IN FULL FORCE…… WINA AZA LILA…

  428. #614 Ba Mudala, you are right about #523 Short -Mazabuka, he is not just a disapointment, but , miopic, backward and a disgrace. I think all the bloggers here should condemn this guy…………..Where has he come from?

  429. #635 I agree with you RB might just be one better than LPM, and I stand to swallow my words when that happens.

  430. Congrats RB

#626 – Wait for the man to rule. Which nepotism? Which corruption?

Sata has has one of the dirtiest team members among the candidates we had. MMD has just been painted dirty by campaign messages. If you believe those, you can believe anything.

Except for Given Lubinda, the rest of PF members are trash. I am glad PF lost. Viva RB.

  431. SATA IS A PUPPET OF THE MMD AND HAS BEEN USED IN THE PAST TWO ELECTIONS TO SHIFT THE FOCUS OF THE VOTING PUBLIC AND PREVENTING THEM FROM VOTING FOR A TRUE AGENT OF CHANGE (FILL IN MISSING TEXT) SATA IS UNSCRUPILOUS AND HAS SOLD OUR COUNTRY SHORT IN THE PAST(IE 3RD TERM BID) ANC ZANC ETC BA MUSELELA KWA KABA

  432. 508. Pastor J..Get real!..RB forgiving FTJ will be the biggest mistake he will ever make..Leave it to the courts to prove him innocent or otherwise. The only strategy for RB would be to legalise the taskforce.FTJ was the captain of the ship during his reign and should be made accountable. He swore with the bible in one hand that that he will abide by the constitution. How may Zambia are suffering because of FTJ..Most of the bloggers are in the diaspora seeking a better living because of FTJ.So dont give us that crap of RB dropping FTJs corruption charges.Lets respect the rule of law.

  433. Did I hear Sata complain about rigging? Is that not the legathy he left for MMD? Sata, Chiluba and VJ introduced rigging to Zambian politics which Sata is conveniently forgetting yet he would have happily rigged if he had the key tools: ECZ and “shushushu” which he left in the hands of VJ. Mr Sata, it is pay back time, taste your own medicine. Congrats VJ, I hope Nyama Soya will reward and appoint you as our new VP, instead of Sakwiba, Nervous, Edith or Tilyenji, etc and other bpretenders

  434. I am PF for Life, I am not ashamed of our loss but strenghtened. It hurt but I am PF, I will die PF. Our ideologies as a party have made a lot people change stance we are the only party that has improved its rating since 2006. Congrats to MMD, see you in 2011. Ba muselela kwa kaba be real and stand on your principles. Ours is not a fight just for plot one but to bring back dignity to the Zambians. We need to restore pride to the Zambian people, thats why I am PF for life. I am a Patriot…. thats who i am. Viva PF viva Zambia

  435. Some pipo now want to blame HH for sata’s loss!! Awe bane lets not lose our dignity just becoz sata has lost the election. Do you really think the pipo who support HH would automatically support Sata if HH didnt stand? Thats shallow thinking. HH supporters support him for his economic vision. Sata supporters support him just becoz he is sata. The two have no correlation. I actually have a feeling that if the race was just between Sata and RB, sata would have lost with a wider margin becoz all hh supporters would have found RB to be a better compromise.

  436. #23 The journey for PF still goes on. You ask what next for Sata and his minions? Well let me tell you.
Today you can celebrate and say whatever you want but one thing you should realize is that a seed has been sown and it will be harvested.Majority of people on the streets have vowed never to voe again becoz they feel election results do not represent their views. Today you can rubbish them. But I don’t know if you will say the same 3 years from now when voter apathy levels reach such unprecedented levels to warrant a government illigitimate. Wait and see. When we reach that stage, then you will ask better what next for Sata and his minions eeh?

  437. #634 and you are that is the reason we shall continue to be ruled by people we dont want. Recall that in 2006 LPM family realised and tried to improve for the better but it was too late. ati least they realised that the well knowledged citizens had spoken. RB won because he was first placed on the ballot paper so the rural dwellers thought it meant to tick the first one.
RB is president for the villagers! kabili they are they ones who voted for him in majority.

  438. 608. Lusaka Dweller,
The only people who were shocked with the elections results are those that lack the simplest analysis. When a party is not well-distributed it will win some areas with big margins but loose lamentably in some other areas. On the other hand a well distributed party will show some reeasonable consistency even where they loose. Look at PF, they won the major provinces Lusaka and C/belt but MMD consitently followed behind in thousands of votes. However, PF lost unhonourably in provinces they were not leading, apart from central. How do you get 700 when your from gets 12,000? This was not a 100 meter race; it was cross country, where you need consistency.

  439. #645 Sarah, You have hammered the nail on the head. I think a small survey will show exactly what you have stated……to start with am an example………

  440. 608 Lusaka Dweller,
The only people who were shocked with the elections results are those that lack the simplest analysis. When a party is not well-distributed it will win some areas with big margins but loose lamentably in some other areas. This was not a 100 meter race; it was cross country, where you need consistency.

  441. CONDOLOSENSE TO ALL PF SUPPORTERS! BUT PLEASE GO FOR A CONVERSION NOT THIS ONE MAN PARTY WHERE THE PRESIDENT JUST COMES OUT LOOKING FOR ECZ OFFICIALS LIKE A ZOMBIE… DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHICH INT’L OBSERVERS ARE AROUND ATI “ABA BA AOU, OU OR WHAT EVA THERE NAMES..” YABA ATI BA FUTURE PRESIDENT…VERY INDESPLINED RUNNING A PARTY LIKE A FAMILY BUSINESS (SATA AND SONS LTD) UKO KWINE…NI ZEE

  442. 599,nothing to be happy about, very angry indeed!!!
Sarah, people from the rural areas did not even vote for these quacks!!! how can they vote 100% of the registered voters and no void ballots!!! more over for one party only!!!!
A country is greater than the thieves parrading themselves!!!
Will castrate them one day and i mean it

  443. #643, you are a rare species of PF. Way to go!! We are used to insult-hauling PF supporters on this site, so you are a nice breath of fresh air. I commend your president for the spirited fight he put up at the ballot office but tell him that maybe its high time he started looking in the mirror if he wants to know the real reasons he lost the election. This continued slapping of blame on everyone else apart from thyself is becoming redundant. But its good to know that there are PF supporters out there who are dignified even in loss

  444. Now that Sata’s political career has painfully come to a demise, we are left with no option but to support the only remaining & promising candidate come 2011. This is no other than HH. With his youthful vigor and sound economical manifesto, the man is destined to plot one come 2011. My piece of advice to HH is to start campaigning now in areas he did not perform well and make sure that he only rubs shoulders with incidents free characters not chaps that will dent his image. he’s still young and well to do and so his focus would be to serve the Zambians. Work on issues bordering on tribalism within your party and come 2011, you’ll be sworn in, not in a rush, but patiently.

  445. #646 Anonymous

Think carefully, disengage your emotions. If the Opposition dont vote, MMD supporters will still vote to the detriment of the opposition and not the ruling party.

  446. IT A MATTER OF TIME. WHAT GOES UP MUST ALWAYS COME DOWN…… DONT LOSE HOPE GUYS. IT TOOK 40YEARS FOR THE PIPO OF God in Egypt to be delivered…….. 40 years,,,,,,,,,,,,,, dont despair. God is watching all and he will act when that time comes

  447. #72. Tribalist, You wriote “02/11/08 PRESIDENT BANDA IS SWORN IN TONGA BULLS WHERE ARE YOU AND YOUR hh TONGA PARTY… MEASTRO HHE HHE WHERE ARE YOU ?… MWALILA”

Actually, as I said before, “wina azalila, wina azaseka”, I am actually laughing out loud. I am going for school issues and will be back later. Probably in the evening. Otherwise, AWE KWENA CHAABIPA BA-UNDEREDUCATED MICHEAL CHILUFYA SATA.

    More later in the day.

  448. Who’s the husband of that naked birch on post paper for 2nd Nov 2008?
    She did not even vote.

Wishing good lucky under the leadership of RB 72

  449. Now that Sata’s political career has painfully come to a demise, we are left with no option but to support the only remaining & promising candidate come 2011. This is no other than HH. With his youthful vigor and sound economical manifesto, the man is destined to plot 1 come 2011. Viva HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  450. Its being narrow minded to brag of Pf’s loss. MMD like Teta said should ask themselves what make PF popular!, most of you may hate Sata but look at PF stands for. Come down to earth stop you unguided hatrade and look at the issues as they are. There is poverty in Zambia, most of the places that gave RB votes have the highest forms of Poverty. Land is being lost to Chinease Nationals on a daily basis. The ministry of Labour is dead, wake up you Zambians!. I fight for my nation, for my Children’s future. Sata will not be there tommorow then who you gonna hate… I fight a regime that is selling the Country in the name of development… Watch this space…

  451. # 657 I totally support you. They know the rigging formula thats even president.Presidents were not invited on friday before results.

  452. #265 Do you suffer from Dementia, how can you have forgotten the “Twachula Sana” statement by FTJ when in 2006 he was in full support of Sata? Chiluba is a self-serving ego-centric, nobody and nothing is sacred but his own interests, every blind person can see that he is looking out for “number one” = HIMSELF!!!

  453. What has happened to the corrupt presiding officer who was caught with pre-mark ballot papers in favour of Ruphia Banda. And can you imagine how many such corrupt presinding officers got away with that. I hear they were paid K 20,000 each. This is typical of the new leader. Ubuchenjeshi Bwankoko Pungwa tasakamana (The eagle is never bother by the tricks of a chicken)

    Forever Pabwatooooo

  454. #639 hope you are not knew to MMD politics. Dont you know about the family tree? havent you known that most business’ in the public sector are done by our same ministers and relatives? do you recall that as soon as LPM was announced to be critically ill the decided to give themselves heft salaries. what more did they do that we didnt hear of? and you can trust such people. this would have been likened to property grabbing and no one can be forgiven for such.

  455. Welcome to the attainment of Professorship POLITICAL ENGINEERING as Chiluba vies for the position a PHD was not enough!!! Mwandi this course scares so much i dropped it in 1996…well for a while in 2006, I was under an impression that the course was banned, well it BACK and IMPROVED!

    Katende mpeela ulubilo!!!

  456. “And in his inaugural speech, Mr. Banda called for unity in the country and extended an olive branch to losing candidates, especially Patriotic Front leader, Michael Sata.”

This is very good Mr Banda and I ask you that in the interest of the Nation can you please consider NOMINATING Micheal Chilufya Sata, Hakainde Hichilema and Godfrey Miyanda to Parliament as MPs. This will help us see real development under MMD and also improve the debating in our Parliament. Just look at the UK and how both Brown and Cameron do their debates in their House to the benefit of all UK Citizens. We can do it to and do it even better. Take careful care and be blessed for “One Zambia, One Nation.”

  457. 654, thanks Sara. Point noted on Sata. If you got close to him you would know that he is actually a good person who like all of us need to change for the better. Sara Posterity will judge us. Real PF members are not hooligans or Kaponyas as people would like to think.. but we are oldinary people who are tired of people who fatten themselves at the expense of our County’s future tommoro. The best way to look at issues is given in the anology “Throw the dirty water and not the baby”…

  458. #653…..very brave indeed i like your words…castration preferably using a bardizzo or rubbering methodology…….Will emerge victorious one day………..ITS A MATTER OF TIME.. THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING…. NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES……GOD WILL GRANT US THAT TIME..ITS COMING WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT IT WILL COME….

  459. PF 2011, this time NO MISTAKES! HH is finished for sure. UPND, please find another presdo if you are to win on national scale.

Am beginning to campain right now for the 2011 elections.

I think it is criminal to always manipulate villagers to keep you in power!

  460. 643. Ama Elders,
I hope you are not on the loosing side for life. Me I am not a carder because I am not in active politics; I am an IT professional. I choose to support a part that I judge to be in a better track than other parties at the time I am voting. After all I realise that even the politicians themselves do changes palitical parties. Now you, ama elders, you mean you would still be PF even if SATA left and joined another party? I wish!

  461. 663,Right to the bone!!!!
How did these Presidents arrive so soon even before we zambians knew the results!!!!!
These wathogs are at it again!!!

  462. And for you RB supporters mukose, corruption started yesterday policemen in kitwe were short changed insteadof getting K850,000 others were going home with K350,000. And i have noticed that the majority of cops are from western Province, i dont like what MMD is doing our brothers from that province, first they use as door mats to re-enter in office and as if that isn’t enough their sons are ripped off of their meager salaries . For a change imwe fikabwalala take some development there considering the fact that western is the least developed Province.

  463. Did I hear Sata complain about rigging? Is that not the legacy Sata left for MMD? Sata, Chiluba and VJ introduced rigging to Zambian politics which Sata is conveniently forgetting yet he would have happily rigged if he had the key tools: ECZ and “shushushu” which he left in the hands of VJ. Mr Sata, it is pay back time, taste your own medicine. I sincerely sympathise with HH; he is an innocent victim. Congrats VJ, I hope Nyama Soya will reward and appoint you as our new VP, instead of Sakwiba, Nervous, Edith or Tilyenji, etc and other pretenders. ABASH THEM PRETENDERS TO THE THRONE

  464. PF=POOR FINISHING. HA HA HA HA HA DID YOU GUYS SEE THE NAKED WOMAN IN THE POST YESTERDAY? SHE SURVIVED IN A BWATOO ACCIDENT ON INDEPENDENCE ROAD RIVER.

  465. FOREVER PA BWATO!!! Mwa mukolo!!!!! Just wait and see as things unfold. These day light robbers. No wonder all regrouped to fight fearless Sata!!!

May God Bless you ba Sata you worked very hard and campaigned a clean campaign. Soon the truth will come out!

    SATA YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

  466. H.E MR M.C SATA even when he’ll be 102 yrs old i’ll still vote for him if he decides to stand. When he retires, i will also retire from voting as simple as that mukashale na fi villger fya ku side uku.

  467. Sata is surely not presidential material…when I saw the man insulting journalists at mulungushi on saturday, I thanked God for saving this wonderful country. I hope it is the last time we are seeing him. He has tasted his own medicine from his days in cabinet.

  468. 671. Ama Elders OK I like your thinking because am also in the boat till it docks on the shores of development and lead this great nation to Independence!

    PABWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO>>>>>>>

  469. 674, I am a patriot, thats who I am. Even if PF as a party died and is burried i would still remain what I am.. A true Zambian Patriot. I am an accountant by Profession, I have travelled the World and i am envious of even small countries like Botswana who are proud to be Batswana because they are regarded first before “Donors” or “investors”. Thats my fight… Absolute Power, just like absolute Libralisation or Open door foreighn plicy is dangerous for Zambia. We need well framed policies on land on labour (Foreign)and on Investments

  470. RB supporters you can give us grief as much as you want but ifwe ni CIMUBWATO CI MWAMUKOLO. Ci mphuno is your President

  471. The spectator, I can excuse you for saying that seeing the circumstances. You say PF for life yet PF has undefined ideology and is all about one person sata. Let Lubinda be president and we will see whether shouting Pabwato will make sense. PF=SATA and SATA=PF. No ideological basis for PF surport. Just admit, our analysis of events is much better than you PF suppoters. Why on earth get surprised that sata lost when he walked out of a pact agreement. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to see this.

  472. #667 – I meant with RB. There was an LPM family tree, I havent seen a seed of the RB tree. I hope it does not start.
The chaps who wanted hefty increases are not all family tree members. Dont confuse matters.
Businesses in the public sector are done by people subscribed to Tender Board. Subscribe too and you will get business. I have no ties with anyone in govt and I receive good tenders in my business. Be real. Even then, Sata has a worse off record than the ones you have itemised above. Remember the K2b in trunks he carried to a party convention? Who do you trust?

  473. I was telling the PF people that, learn to avoid using bemba as your tool of communication but instead use english were possible. Now you ve’ seen for yourself the voting destribution.

Southern, Western, North Western and part of Central Provinces. his performance was bad. Mind you not everyone who speaks english is english.

  474. SHE EX. MIKO KOBRA TETI BAKAMBA KWATI NI BOLA….. YA YA YA # 682, U THINK KOBRA WILL EVA BE A PRESIDENT NEVA BA BA, TETI, KWATI FYA KU ANGASHA…….

  475. 680.Gigo

Tuli bonse mudala and we are watching and counting…they knew what was happening no wonder the threats!!!a quick inaugural ceremony haaaa sinvinthu nafuti!!! we are at it worry not!

    PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO>>>>>>>

  476. #641 If you remember LPM said he was willing to forgive Chiluba if he confessed, meaning there is room for forgiveness. In fact if allegations against him were taken serious, the London judgment was enough to see FTJ in jail. I think FTJ’s continuous appearances in Court were just meant to create an show case to donors that Government was fighting corruption so as to get donor aid. The task force confiscated properties from plunderers but failed to find enough evidence to jail them, it doesn’t make sense. RB needs to get over the case quickly otherwise it will drag his efforts to fight corruption.

  477. Those who want to know where the pabwato pipo are, here we are. We aren’t going anywhere neither are we going to hide from RB, VJ, Teta , UNIP, FDD, ULP, NRP and rigging itself. Sata is a hero and will always be. Imagaine being attacked by all these guys and he managed to beat them at their own game(s), and you say he is a dictator. Who is exhibiting dictatoral manners btwn MMD and Sata? No one will be able to dislodge MMD apart from MMD itself. If Sata has failed then no one will make it, not even HH. Viva PF, Viva Sata. Viva Pabwato!!!

  478. #671 Ama elders, you are welcome. Now, as a zambian who unfortunately couldnt vote becoz I was not in zambia in 2006 hence Im unregistered, I nevertheless took a keen interest in this election’s results. I stayed up all night on fri and sat tallied the votes on my laptop. I then compared the votes with the 2006 votes, and you know what, the trends are the same. This should have been the starting point for PF and other parties. They should have canvassed their weak spots instead of being paraded in the POST at mammoth rallies of pipo who aint voters. MMD won becoz they managed to get decent votes in PF stronghold. PF lost becoz they faired poorly in MMD areas. UPND did well in MMD areas

  479. Am suprised at pipo that think this is the end of HH when alot of u people thot that u cud not vot for him now but 2011.Alot of people that wanted to vote for HH reserved their votes for him for 2011.Morever HH is only 46 and wat fought against him is the baised media coverage.Rb had ZNBC,daily ,times among others.Sata had the post.HH had none but still managed to get some gud 353 something votes. It was not bad considerin the circumstances.if Miyanda who got 13000 votes can feel encouraged, what about HH who got 353 something votes.HH do not be descouraged, this is an eye opener – the battle has just begun but also consider forming a pact with

  480. Zambians have missed a chance for real development and empowerment. Ba Sata you did your best may God bless you. Please keep on speaking on behalf of the poor and us highly taxed zambian workers.

  481. Chabulanda sana to go back to UNIP again. nakaili mwaiba. bachiluba na bamudala ba KK chilishani. ninsansa shamusango shani ishi. we now have a combination of plunderers from the old regime and the new. what is the country going to remain with. RBB may be president but not for me. GOD rules me and watches over me. tuchili mu BWATOOOOOOOOOOOO. we will never die even if it sunk. but remember it will only be one day.

  482. Ati RB has won, won what? MMD is even failing to celebrate their own victory. Lusaka is quite as if there is a funeral. Pabwato!!!

  483. There are three ways of dealing with differences: domination, compromise, and integration. By domination only one side gets what it wants; by compromise neither side gets what it wants; by integration we find a way by which both sides may get what they wish… choose your best my friend #688. Anonymous!!!

Otherwise the BOAT is very much alive…watch this Space!

  484. We check their promises between now and 2011.

NCZ needed K40billion for capitalisation not given.
    Fertilizer subsides K400Billion already spent.

    Kwacha To Dollar 19/08/2008 K3150/US$1
    Kwacha To Dollar 03/11/2008 K4800/US$1.

Kwacha has lost 35% of its value against a US$ which is losing its strength in its own country.

  485. If you(MMD supporters) wont get rich the easy way during the next three years forget it. CI MPHUNO and his muppets will be playing ‘ one for you one for me’ so ni sangwapo. Or else you’ll just die shouting PANKOLOKO, PANKOLOKO like a cipuba in the meantime TETA is linning up his pockets. You maggots, ine ci fukushi ne cikonko pa mukoshi.

  486. HH and Sata have really killed us and we are going backwards as a nation because of your selfish motives…for the next three years we will always blame you guys for the suffering of the common man…this is a very bad strange pill that has to be swallowed without much say.

  487. 646# I agree with you many people especially for us in compounds they were saying it is pointless to vote when the people not voted for win. Even in these elections apathy was there. Although people have moved, died there was still apathy from what has been experienced: Mazoka and PF second time. The monitors from SADC, etc. they closed eyes to the day light robbery of pre marked ballot papers. All of a sudden villages are overly populated; people have not died or moved no apathy: No MMD should stop manipulating villagers. They wanted to win at any cost – RB is just being used. Just watch this space……..

  488. I think for now all we can do is sit down and relax and watch while zambia drowns in rupiahs iliteracy and arrogance.Well down mmd supporters we are looking forward to your great fall.Ala lwanya fwe bana bakwa sata twachula kuli nyama soya.Mutule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rise of zambias great machines!!!!Ruphiah Bwezani Banda.
Rome was not buit in a day will change to zambia was not destroyed in a day but in a min.
“ZAMBIA WAS DESTROYED IN A MIN”IS NOW OUR SLOGAN!!!!!!!
aLA TWALA YA FYE I DONT WANT TO WATCH THAT BABY THANDIWE AS SHE GETS TO SPEND OUR HARD WORKED ON MONEY.zaMBIA IS THE NEXT ZIMBABWE!!!!!!1

  489. Anaonymous we forgive you because you do not know what ideologies PF has. Yes Sata is a Major factor in PF but he is not PF. Leaders come and go but a pure ideology lives forever. Zambia ia changing taste the icing on the cake…. Our fight as PF is for you and your children. Our message is Development must develop Zambians and benefit Zambians for Zambians…. We are saying Ba mwisa should respect the Zambians, we are nolonger slaves that we should be locked up when working, the Land is ours and we have a stake in what it produces… How do you eplain a place where three almost new vehicles can break down in western province and you all that… let me not go there !

  490. Not sure how many of you are voters,I am, i voted and we all employed the man by majority basis. We all refuted Mwanawasa but he performed, now, banda wait and see what he can or cant do, we all know what the post has said about his past and insulted him. He is in power and for his own good I hope he can continue to shame his critics. Its time to work and ignore insults and we will judge based on performance, like the US does with candidates. If Sata or HH won, we should have equally supported them as they are given the job by VOTERS not non voter ns.If MMD rigged, shame if not, lets see what you are made of RB! drop all charges on Post and from yesterday onwards you are in power act wisely

  491. Alabane Umuntu mutwe!!!elyo, umulembwe wachipuba wapwilile mulitunfwe!!! these are very profound sayings!!!
    LEEELOO!LEELOO!!

  492. what happened to those pipo caught with pre marked ballot papers.the distribution of sugar, image builders who were using govt vehicles.mmd spent 6 billion on chitenge materials, govt machinery, they lied that fertiliser had reduced to 50pin.why shud it take flo 2 days to tell the nation that voting in western province had to tek 2 days.

  493. Wow, a Zimbabwean is President of Zambia. If Bob was born in Zambia I doubt Zimbabweans would have allowed him to rule that country.

  494. Sata is my HERO, i’ve just bought a portrait of him and its already hanging in my flat. Just looking for a sculptor to chisel is face for me on some fine pebble of stone.

  495. When you like something, dont think everyone likes it. Some of us people think just because they want Sata then all the zambians love him. You’re very wrong, we have lost and just accept-PERIOD!. Am starting to think its fine coz Sata is too much of a kaponya for president. So chabe……!!!!!!!!!

    —Nothing will change now——Try 2011…..

  496. 706.Ama Elders

I feel you very much Mudala don’t go there for real, lyashi lyesu ilyo…there is a lot of explaining to be done, what just shocks me is how Justice Florence and the rest of her group think of us Zambians to be very dull to buy into their Story!!

    Iliko!!!

  497. #686. Ama Elders,
You have answered the question, though I was wondering how you would be ‘PF for life’, because in everything there is likely to be change. You may believe in what PF has put on the table now, but suppose you find another party with better policies than PF form up in future and they meet your very expectations even in a better way, what would you do? PF for life? Anyway, I like your views because that constitutes the freedoms of association and choices.

  498. ala twachula fwe bana ba kwa sata mutule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets just sit back, relax abd watch while zambia sinks in to RB’s arrogance and iliteracy.
“zambia was destroyed in a day”is my new slogan as i celebrate the loss of my country all thanks to the narrow minded mmd supporters.
    Mutuleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  499. #700 Spectator

Dont mistake the quiet nature of some people as a weakness, neither underestimate the power of innocense. The innocent person has his own life to defend him. To try an force things will never work in the case of Zambia. The fact that your wishes have not materialised does not mean that you must find an alternative to that which is constitutional. There is simply no other way of looking at things, just because Pabwato and Sata make a lot of noise does not make them popular, as the results can show. Yes not far but not enough.

  500. i dnt knw what a poor villager was given in sikongo and sinjembela, bloggers i have been to those places there is serious poverty and one can not hold his tears back, its indeed very sad,i feel some one corrupted them

  501. Chinesse infestors to be celebrating in our own country at our own expense, Zambians will live to remeber this day. May the almighty God bless MMD and RB. Viva PF, PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  502. #689 All those proceedures are done, up to Tender Board but its not as easy as you may think. i dont want to mention places here but talking of experience.
the seed was sawn by LPM and it shall continue because he is still surrounded by the same people. tubene mulongoooo.
i didnt say the people that wanted heft salaries are family tree but talking generally of the ills that we have seen. i am a civil servant and i know how it feels to get peanut for take home. its just the whole lot of thieves and there is no better word to describe them.

  503. ALA MWEBA LOZI FROM MONGU TUKAMUMONA KAILI MWISA NA BUS IYIFIKA PA 05:OO HRS TWAKULA MUBELAMINA PA INTER CITY NOKU LA MISECHA UNTIL MUKALEKE UKWISA KU TOWN …. RUPIAH SHUD BUILD YOU TOWNS UKUKOKWINE KU KALABO NA KU SHANGOMBO NAKU LUENA NAKU ZAMBEZI EAST…… WE SHALL SEE ……..

  504. Its good to see that PF supporters are still holding their own on this site! We were starting to think that they had sank with the titanic when it went to the bottom of the zamezi river. I personally think Sata makes a better opposition leader than governing leader. Why? because he is very good at pointing out mistakes. I have listened to him several times and he is very uncomfortable in situation where there is no antagonism and no one to blame. If he had won, he would have spent the next 3 (make that 5!!) years I wonder who he would be blaming after chasing away the chines and other investors. Kinda reminds me of mugabe…

  505. You people you are forgetting one thing, Sata said that he would invite Mugabe at his swearing in ceremony . Mugabe was invited by Sata, Sata thought he had won elections.

  506. #724 Humble african, that is so low. Do you own lusaka? Why dont you also go back to Chilubi island or wherever it is you come from! You are the types of low-lifes who give bembas a bad name. How would you like to be chased out of lusaka by the solis who are the true owners of lusaka? We are all zambians, lets be a bit more civilised. sata will not carry you to his grave, so wake up from your slumber

  507. Guys, You are very simplistic about the whole election process in Zambia. The PF are challenging the results on some very solid grounds(I happen to know some of the facts here, but will not not discuss these here as that may prejudice the court hearing that is expected). You have prejudged President Sata and the PF before you have had chance to examine their evidence on which they are basing their claim, as will be presented to the courts. It is the prerequisite of every Zambian to take legal action and seek redress through the courts, as the PF are doing. Too many Zambians are ready to accept the status-quo, even where it is apparent that something does not add up!!Watch this space.

  508. NOTE:

THE NATIONAL MOURNING CONTINUES UP TO FRIDAY.

THIS IS DUE TO THE UNTIMELY SINKING OF THE TITANIC WHICH CAPSISED WITH MORE THAN 680,000 FEARED DEAD, BUT THE DEATH TOLL MAY RISE IF THE PASSENGERS DO NOT CALM DOWN. IT ACTUALY HIT INTO TWO BIG ROCKS UNDER WATER CALLED UPND AND MMD.

PLEASE PASS THIS MSG TO YOUR FRIENDS THEY MITE BE MISSING RELATIVES AND FRIENDS… FORTUNATELY THE CAPTAIN HAS SURVIVED, CAUSE HE FELT UNSAFE AS IT WAS BEING TESTED WHEN THE SINKING OCCURED…VIVA RB! ONE TIME! BOMA NI BOMA!!! SATASC

  509. Now, for the ‘low voter turn out’ I would like to think that the the electorate had their confidency in the process erroded. This is because the opposition told the public that the elections were going to be rigged. In fact the opposition parties made so many suspicions and impounding of vehicles including those of journalists on suspicion that they contained ballot papers. But unfortunately in all the many cases these allegations turned out to be false. But the damage on public opion kept growing. I can only think that all this actually disadvantaged the same opposition because people that stayed away because of this were those who wanted change but concluded that voting was just a waste.

  510. People PF is still alive for the development that Mwanawasa did was because of the strong opposition he from Sata, no man will match Sata with the current politicians, and never try to provoke the PF supporters please, Isaac Chisuzi he doesnt know the people, He should be just be a career soldier. let the game of politics remain to the people. We do not want genocide here but it is He Chisuzu who will start it.

  511. #728 PF Man

Come out of that dream. What evidence are you talking about, you are simply pushing your fantacy further like one who has been forced to wake up in the middle of a fantastic dream. If you where in the western world, your case would be easily diagonised and prescriptions given to you. You are here in Zambia and traditional medicine will do as well. Cheer up.

  512. #715.. Fine. I hear you.. but let me just tell 716 EJ, we forgive you for insulting us. I guess intterlectual debates put you off. Sorry we offend you.

Now my freind 715.. I am a Patriot, thats why I am PF for Life. Pf’s Ideologies define who i am should i change political affiliations (God forbid) I will still remain PF to the bone and if it be in my means i will resurrect the Party to sail even on higher seas. Viva PF viva Pabwatooo Viva Zambia Viva pure independence Viva to all True PF supporters I salute all of you

  513. Those who dream that HH will be the next president should dream hard. If Sata can be dribbled like this for the second time, HH takaimone and takaimyange. For him, it’s going to be worse than polio.

Pliz, did you see the pipo in attendance at the inguration Ceremony. God help Zambia. Need I say more….My heart bleeds for this nation.

BaSata, don’t worry. Continue fighting for the voiceless even those who didn’t not vote for you in Shang’ombo and Sikongo where it takes 12 hrs to travel by road for there are no roads and telecommunications. There is one who is greater than MMD.
    Forever Pabwato!!!

  514. Fellow countrymen with great relief our country has been saved from the Cobra bite. What we must look at positively is not the person you dont like but the liberator of peace. Since 1991 God gave us change and we mishandled it. This country has been at war of words and our former leaders including the late never saw eye to eye with their predecessors. Now that is bad for a nation which is trying to build future leadership. We hope R&B will be the music to bridge this scenario without dropping any case and mend fences that were a result of 1991 and 2001. Its these moments that shield us the young to sail up as these guys are trying to settle old woods. Let R&B repair the past.

  515. In spite of economic improvement especially in mining on the copperbelt, it is incoceivable for MMD to ferform very badly in the presidential bye- election. Mwansa Mbulakulima has failed to explain to the people, the benefits MMD has brought to the province. This chap should be fired immediately. This chap has lamentably failed to perform. In spite of strong MMD leadership on the copperbelt, we are being let down by this Mwansa thingammy. Please fire him now or we will forcebly remove him from the province.

  516. #724 mind your language. Its not just Lozi’s who voted for RB.They were just voting for who they thought was the right person to lead them….swallow it!

  517. ONE down (Mulongoti), Two to go (VJ and Teta)…VJ’s DEATH WILL MEAN A BIG PARTY FOR ZAMBIANS. First stroke for Mulongoti, second one is definitely coming…he will just die since there will be no Paris for him.

  518. 743. Sony Ericsson Phiri

Mudala bwafya no wonder the Apathy!! IF we can’t count on this Electoral process what is it that will redeem us, Should we take the law in our hands?!because the people’s Voice can not be respected…

    Katwishi!

    Take heart mudala for now!!!

  519. zambia peacefull country indeed, and our learders take that for granted.can some one listen to what loosing parties are saying.

  520. #736, that same mentality of superiority is what has brought down your president (with a small p) sata. Why should people be insulted for not voting for sata? What could a tribalist like sata have done for the good pipo of shangombo had they made the terrible mistake of voting for him? sata was the left handman under the worst government zambia has ever experienced, what did he do for pipo apart from making viloence and theft fashionable? Even pipo in his own backyard of isoka, nakonde and mbala couldnt trust him enough to give him their vote! Go and lick your wounds in silence the way your president is doing

  521. Dear Anonymous, Sorry mate, I actually live in the UK. I was in Zambia for the vote as I am a very patriotic Zambian first and PF member and funder, second. I run a multi-million £ business group, which I am wanting to move (part of) to Zambia. But, I now have to wait and see how your MMD chaps get on. The investment policies have been a disaster, allowing foreign investors (especially Chinese) to bring in any labour and take out as much earnings as they want! These guys pay little or no tax either! The health & safety of their Zambian employees is almost non-existent! PF want to change these!
Why dont you wait for the evidence to unfold in the courts? Then we can chat about it, OK?

  522. …Injustice can be eliminated, but human conflicts and natural limitations cannot be removed. The conflicts of social life and the limitations of nature cannot be controlled or transcended. They can, however, be endured and survived. It is possible for there to be a dance with life, a creative response to its intrinsic limits and challenges …

  523. pabwato the party for the true voiceless. yes we mourn the loss and yes we need unity in the party to forgwe ahead. we run the race and clearly things are not well in zambia not that we lost as much as it is painful but how we lost is that pains more.

To the rebel PF MP’s i call uponn you to renounce your evil ways, come back to PF see how powerful we are, robbed of victory. failure to heed this olive branch we shall come after you like a train because you are sellouts. U never assisted because you are funded by FTJ. We blame LPM for failure to jail FTJ for crimes against Zambians.

  524. # 728 WHY NOT GIVE ANY EVEIDENCE OF RIGGING? WHAT COURT CASE WILL BE AFFECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT BLOG LIKE THIS ONE. GIVE US THE DETAILS NOW ….. OR JUST SHUT IT. WHY SHOULD BE DISCUSSING STUFF THAT HAS NO SUBSTANCE, I CHALLENGE YOU AS A ZAMBIAN. TELL US ….

  525. #749 Anonymous

Makes it very difficult to understand how you who came in just briefly could have had so much evidence against the rigging allegations. Any way I will wait for the evidence though they often tend to be long and tedious exercise to deal with. Just for interest sake, what think thou about the big chances of an easy win for opposition had a pact be reached. I mean PF/UPND?

  526. #754 zAMBIAN

Am afriad he might have bumped into a drunk kaponya still recovering from the rally chibuku. Oh dear me, this world.

  527. SO, imwe ba PF, now that Sata is age, time and nkongole is forcing Mr. Sata out of politics, who will be PF president, Willy Nsanda?? Another Kaponya !

  528. # 749 Now you can bring your so called business to Zambia, as PF lost.If PF has won, you were going to 25% to the govt, MMD’s policies are very investor-friendly.As long you provide quality jobs to our brothers and sisters.

    # 753 It just proves to you that the so called “prophets” like Joshua are fake, well, here is a prophecy gone wrong, if it was God sent prophecy it could have been ful-fillied.

And advise to PF, re-group there is tsill hope after Sata’s loss. But as long as you limit yourselves to urban promises, forget politics. The rural people’s voice is very loud in Zambia, you might have just found twice now, and still ignoring them.

  529. #752 The evidence will be given in the court and I will be there too! Evidence discussed in the media or in the public domain can be deemed “prejudicial” to a case in court. I cannot therefore give you any specifics. But, do you realise that it is perfectly possible that the results posted outside each polling station are NOT the same as the results reported to the Electn Commission and confirmed as the official results? E.g. the results posted and signed for by all party representatives could be: PF= 4300; MMD=300; UNDP= 740. But, the results reported and recorded by elect. commission are PF=300; MMD=4740; UNDP= 300. There is factual evidence of rigging like this. See you in court?

  530. First, it was Nkumbula hand picking Kaunda, then, The MMD veterans picking Ka Shortii, and Ka Shortii picked ba mudala ba Mwanawasa, and now, we have this nyama Npuno soya who allegedly hand picked by ba Mwanawasa. Ala ine ni Opposition for life nombe, No geyi no vundu, tukafikntolola kuntashi. Banda ala wabe t…..
    Chalo Chesu ichi!!!!

  531. #753 That is why me I said although I am a Christian I am skeptical about some phrophesies.Even here we had some pastor who said similar things in 1990.

  532. 749 PF Man, with due respect sir, consider investing in Zambia with MMD in power or not for the sake of the zambians. We need more zambians running our economy and this will reduce our dependency syndrome. I know we can do it as zambians, we dont need chinese infestors, sorry investors to run our economy……..

  533. Fellow PF supporters. Lets not be discouraged by this loss. RB will not perform in the next 3 yrs simply because he does have want it takes to do a good job. Soon even the rural dwellers will realise this and wont give MMD a vote come 2011. Viva PF!!! Never say die!!

  534. Ba MMD Mwasamwa sana. Remember INSASA SHNYA IBULANDA!! UNLESS YOU ARE ON PERSONAL PY ROLL YAKWA LUPIYA BANDA? SOON YOU WILL SEE THE ECONOMIC DOWN TURN OF ZAMBIA COMPOUNDED BY DEFECEIT OF OUR NATIONAL BUDGET ESPECIALLY FOR YOUR SALARIES IN CIVIL SERVICE LIKE SOME TIME WHEN CHILUBA FAILED TO PAY US ON TIME. THOSE GUYS DONT EVEN KNOW ABOUT YTHE WORLD RECESSION THEY DONT EVEN KNOW THAT DONOR FUNDING WILL BE REDUCED FOR POOR COUNTRIES LIKE ZAMBIA FOR HIV/AIDS FERTLIZER SCHEEMS ETC AND THOSE VILLAGERS WILL SUFFER THE MOST SINCE THEY RELY ON DONOR FUNDS THROUGH TUMA NGO!! YOU WILL REMEMBER ME SOON VIVA PF AND PABWATOOOOOOOOWE WONT GIVE UP HOPE……GOD IS LOVE HE WILL LIBERATE US BUT MAKE A CHANGE

  535. This should be a lesson to the opposition Political Parties, had we put our efforts together we all would have been dancing to the victory song. But too 2 selfish everyone wanted to be # 1. Remember we are not fighting man or a political party but bad policies for this country. Lets wake up & put our minds together for a better Zambia. Be strong PF you did your best & i now know that muliche!!!!

  536. #759 PF Man

Wait! The thing you have raised was it ever brought to independent observers and other groups or it was specifically a PF observation? Did anyone raise any query on this thing or it is only coming to light now? Can you give any one example of this where it occurred? Or is this thing about electronic transfer thing that sata was not comfortable with? How come PF are always ahead of the observers? The observers must be too docile and on the other hand PF very sharp and over alert! The observers must be taught the machinations of rigging I trust before venturing into election observation.

  537. The opposition needs to combine forces. Pipo need chnage. the combined votes are over 1.1 million. Please Sata & HH work together
3 years is not long. twachula pafula

  538. Who says RB will not perform? Do not judge a book by its cover- remeber he is an economist not from the street but a BA in economics do any of you know what it takes to have such a qualification? Mwachepa sana! Anyway me i’m for HH 2011

  539. #309 Shamboko. Thanks. I am back. It’s a new day. I am just updating my self with the comments, having fun reading through.

Let’s keep sharing knowledge on this blog. I look fwd to learning more from all you guys. Zed is our lovely home, we will go back. We are note going to end up in old people’s homes here. Sweet mother Zed!!!

  540. LT shame on you. You don’t want us villagers to speak for ourselves? Why delete my postings from the village? We rejected Satana on solid grounds and we shall continue doing so until the bugger dies

  542. #772 that’s right, the observers don’t understand how the rigging works. They declared the VOTE as free and fair and then they think they can sit at the Intercontinental and drink by the pool while the COUNTING is still going on

  543. Cot fro 778..

  544. Satana ifwe kuno mushi we don’t like his uncouth behaviour which is actually worse than your ordinary kaponya in the street. Most kaponyas like FTJ Chiluba are smart people who have learnt some manners from the street. But empty heads like Sata who have not been to school just work on simplistic assumptions which us in the village read through and laugh ourselves silly. We are shocked that the so called urban and educated can align themselves to such a thug.

  545. In the absence of SATA, probably due to issues of age and health, can a PF/UPND pact workout if HH is sanctioned to be the presidential candidate. Can the people in Luapula, Northern and c/belt give HH the votes they give SATA?

  546. The Post dug itself a hole which they are trying to climb out. It was disgusting to see a respected newspaper sink so low. Their reporting was so full of hatred, disrescpect, linded trueth, Manipulative, provocative and inciting.
These election verdict is a verdict against the Post. They have lost credibility, and the best the paper can do is fire the Managing Editor to save on the face.
We need a new Paper which will champion and supplemet the opposition views as the post was reduced to Mouth piece of the PF and Bemba Anarchists.

  547. GREETINS
ANA JUS LASS MONTH WEN MI ADVICE AN SE PACT FI DEM, BT DI BABYLONIANS DEM LAUGH GAAN TO BED.
YAHSO OOO YEYEWATER, MI NAA SAARY FI MAGA DOG!

RAS MUTA AN DE FAMBLY BACK A YAAD

  548. Hi, am just from praying for RB and mother Zambia…. I even prayed for Sata and the opposition, God said hes in control of the nation…. all will be well.

  549. LT MEK WI CHAT PATWA. POLITICIAN TOO SELFISH!
MI NUH VEX PON DI PF VANK! BAX DEM IF DEM NAA WAAN A LISEN.
SO LAS NITE MI DE PON DE BASHMENT WIT DEM GYAL DEM, KA DEM HAADEAZ!

  550. its really painful to see all these people smiling because they have a personal gain out of all this.Whats in it for an oridary citizen like myself??? High taxes???? A loaf of bread honestly is already costing K7,000.00

  551. Who invites people to the inauguration. Is it the president elect or the State machinery. I am sure there’s procedure.

If Mugabe could be invited, then by all means lets us invite our own former presidents, they certainly did better than Mugabe.

May be RB was not even in control of drawing up the list, perhaps only informed as a matter of course or procedure. Dow we have nay one on this blog who is familiar with goverment protocol in matters like this? Please guide us so we can be an informed lot. Some of us have never worked in govt.

  552. HEY, ba ZED what happened to H E M C Sata? have been following the polls closely, but can someone tell me when Zambia will ever have free and fair elections such that all the parties are happy.Anyway, i also supported Icibwato,na ba Sata. Hey, fellow Zambians hold your peace… these election must unit us and not seperate us. To H E ba Sata lets go and restrategise, where did we go wrong, we will definately win next time. Its only three years.

  553. #458 i agree with you infact it is not God who has given this leader he has been imposed on us by selfish people RB is a wrong leader as Prophet Joshua said that a country will be electing a wrong leader.

  554. COUNTRY MEN AND WOMEN WE SHOULD INTRODUCE COLLEGE VOTES IN OUR SYSTEM SO THAT POLITICIANS DO NOT EXPLOIT OUR UNINFORMED RELATIVES IN THE VILLAGES.MMD (NEW DEALERS) SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES TO HAVE RURAL AREAS AS STRONGHOLDS.IF THIS IS HOW IT IS GOING TO BE THEN IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING A MULTI-PARTY DEMOCRACY.I SAY THIS BECAUSE YOU CONNOT HAVE ONE PARTY RULING FOR 27 YEARS AND ANOTHER PARTY RULING FOR 20 YEARS.

  555. I would like to believe that ECZ knew by plan that by Sunday ie 48-60 hrs, they will have enough results to call the final winner. I would also like to believe that invitations were made prior to that. You can’t invite a foreign head of state to come over within an hour, would you? We have had elections so many times that the State must have perfected the art of invitations. I think that the invited gusets confirmed tthey would come any way, whether Sata or HH won. This was State invitation, not political invitation. Well, I may be wrong but I think it must be the role of the Stae machinery to invite.

  556. I only have 1 thing to say people from lusaka and copper belt who keep saying they Rejected RB so he is not there president. This is not the first time and certainly has not only happened in Africa, Remember when BUSH J was being driven to white house, people where throwing eggs at his car coz Washington didn’t want him. Respect other peoples choice as they say a vote is secrete for as long as you keep thinking village people are useless they will vote against you.
Now for the court case SATA in 2006 said court cases on petitioning results is a waste of time and money because they take long and its probably obvious that the government wins so between then and now what has changed????

  557. everything in life happen for a reason.Everyone of us should respect the outcome of the elections and support the old man.i am praying for him to forfil his promises to the Zambian people, moreover he is a graduate with high reasoning power.I remaind all those who question him marital status that, the issue of love is a very complicated one, not only to him but to all people.its a force you can never understand.ask Pule,Nevas…..lastly am praying for my fellow country men who are in diaspora to work hard and stick to what and why they are out and go back in peace and prosperity.God bless.

  558. # 776. good at it,
You say plunderers are back, where did they go? When were they last in government? If you say before Mwanawasa’s coming then you are saying it was the time when SATA was in power with Chiluba. SATA defended chiluba championing ‘third term’ for the so called ‘plunderer’. SATA wanted the same Chiluba who is now called plunderer to continue; what does that tell you about SATA? Or may be you dont want to talk about it?
For me, I think Sata has contributed to the development of Zambia from 2006 from the opposition point of view in that he kept LMP on his toes. And I think he is better in that position. It is wrong to think a leader can only be in State House, wrong!

  559. I WAS AT CHINGWERE CEMETERY TODAY AND PEOPLE WERE MOURNING; NOT JUST FOR THEIR DEAD LOVED ONES BUT FOR NOT SEEING PF PRESIDENT INAUGURATED YESTERDAY. TEMPERS ARE VERY HIGH SO STOP MESSING AROUND WITH US BY CALLING US THE TITANIC. AND FOR YOUR OWN INFORMATION, I’D RATHER DIE IN THE TITANIC WITH ALL PF SUPPORTERS THAN BE RULED BY SOMEONE WHO WAS REJECTED BY 60% OF THE POPULATION. LONG LIVE MR. SATA AND PF. THE BOAT IS STILL AFLOAT – NIPABWATO CHABE FOREVER. WE WILL NEVER RELENT NEITHER WILL WE SURRENDER AS PF, THE PEOPLE’S PARTY.

  560. “And in his inaugural speech, Mr. Banda called for unity in the country and extended an olive branch to losing candidates, especially Patriotic Front leader, Michael Sata.”

Very good olive branch Mr RB Banda and I ask you that in the interest of the Nation can you please consider NOMINATING Micheal Chilufya Sata, Hakainde Hichilema and Godfrey Miyanda to Parliament as MPs. This will help us see real development under MMD and also improve the debating in our Parliament. Just look at the UK and how both Brown and Cameron do their debates in their House to the benefit of all UK Citizens. We can do it to and do it even better. Take careful care and be blessed for “One Zambia, One Nation.”

  561. We will do more rigging if that small boy called HH attempts to stand again. That boy should go back to his business, period. He will NEVER set his feet in plot 1, for as long as I am alive!!!

  562. My friends in Zambia, how is the situation there. Lets just work hard, these guys have been imposed on us by our parents from the village, who dont know what we are going through here in ubarn areas. If it was possible, he should have gone were they voted for him but alas!! In cities he was rejected period.

  563. If life in Zed is going on as usual, as though nothing has happened – people going to work, eating out, shopping etc like they always did, and Govt continued business as usual, and companies continued operating as usual, then it will be very difficult for Sata to sustain a fight against the election results. He will be alone, no one will really care. There will be no rallies, only perhaps court appearances, which could be spread over several months. People will move on, as they may have already done. NGO’s and other observers are not on his side. It will be good for the big man to go home and rest, may be take time to prepare to meet his Maker. Rest will be good for his health.

  564. #803 yvonnie

Nice words, next time you pass through Kazungula, stop over and I can share some serious matters with you. God bless.

  565. Mr President Rupiah Bwezani Banda, please find a very healthy and enrgetic MAN IN THE MMD OR ELSEWHERE TO be the vice President of Zambia, please. I personally do not need Sata to have another chance of almost winning the Zambian Presidency since you are quite old now. I would like you to search carefully and not to be moved by those who campaigned for you only especially those with questionable reputation and records.Thank you all Zambians for making sure that Sata lost.To president HH,continue doing a noble cause for Zambia. No matter how the MMD copuy your mighty UPND manifesto, they will never succeed in implementing it because an uplifted material will never equal the original one.

  566. #813 Spectator

What is wrong with you, cant someone share a light moment with you. Ok on a serious note, HH/UPND pact, why did it fail?

  567. Congratulations RB, you deserved to win. Reduce the price of fuel further and direct that the bus fares be reduced so that the common
man can benefit. Ba Sata, you have tried but failed to get to Plot 1,
let someone else lead the sinking ship.

  568. If i waz a betting man i wud bet on Sata than HH, chkn stats 4 the 3 parties performace 2001,2006, and now Sata has bin making remarkable progress, not all is well in mmd dont be cheated by the win, wait 4 cabinet announcement and u will learn the trouble Levy’s dearth has left in the ruling party.

  569. No one should blame the voters, they did their bit. But the selfish opposition leaders split the votes among themselves. There were enough NO-MMD votes out there. Who ever voted NO was prepared to leave their home and go vote. It was upto the opposition to direct that vote to State house. Blame the selfishness of opposition leaders. Please spare those who voted. They did a commendable job, leaving what they were doing to go and vote.

Having said that, those who Voted Yes-MMD did us a great favour. Zambia would have been a different place today, under Sata. I dont think it was going to be a better place.

  570. Kuno ku cbelt we are already being punished for rejecting RB loadsheding has resumed bread na tomato nayo nabalunda

  571. Sata lost the election because:
    1. 95% of southern province rejected him
    2. 91% of North western province rejected him
    3. 87% of western province rejected him
    4. 83% of eastern province rejected him
    5. 75% of central province rejected him
    6. 38% of Lusaka province rejected him
    7. 35% of northern province rejceted him
    8. 27% of copperbelt province rejecetd him
    9. 21% of Luapula province rejected him

  572. Sata lost the election because:

    1. Zambia is a christian nation; christianity na SATAnism sivi yendelana

    2. Zambia is a democracy; democracy na dictatorship sivi yendelana

    3. Zambia is a united country; unity na tribalism sivi yendelana

  573. #799 patnam
Concerning prophesy, it is quite dangerous to take every statement made by a person to be prophesy, without conforming it it to the word of God. I must state that prophesy given from God concerning any nation has purpose and is very specific. God will not give a prophesy with a lot of uncertainities which can only be clarified after something happens then you say, ‘this is what I meant when I prophesied’, No. God will not say, ‘a certain nation in southern africa’, No. God always makes his message clear and not leave many countries guessing is it us or anothers. That is like custing your net wide so that you increase chances of events then claim after it happens somewhere.

  574. This man Sata ah I can tell that when he was a young boy he was a naughty little nitwit. I can imagine him running away with a whole chicken from the meal table.

  575. Iam delighted as Zimbabwean to hear that my sekuru is a presido in Zambia. Thank guys and I can assure that your choice will bear fruits soon. Maita basa shamwari.

  576. #827 cont’d

Leaving behind his hungry siblings to lick the soup. Away just his big head boucing away to munch the chicken alone.

I would not be surprised if this actually happened.

  577. #408,Karlos – The poverty you talk about did not start 7 years ago, but as far back as KK’s days, and particularly under Chiluba. Don’t forget that your candidate served under Chiluba. Although he was pragmatic and got things done, he seemed to have no complaints about the direction in which the country was heading, the privatisation of our mines at giveaway prices, the low price of copper, rampanant corruption, or the Pajero he was also being transported in. He even wanted to force a 3rd term of all these things on us, and then left the party when Levy implemented better fiscal management, and tried to fight corruption. Why do people ignore these things?

  578. People, are you not reading the comments that came ahead of your’s? The issues you bring up have been discussed already. Thandiwe is NOT a child, Sata, with under 700, 000 of the national vote would still not have been a leader supported by the majority, and if you look at the combined votes of HH and Sata, MMD would not have won – why claim rigging when it is clear to you the opposition were divided, especially when you did not go home to vote? How do you expect your preferred candidate to come into power if the majority of his supporters (in only 4 provinces), did not go to the polling booth?

  579. Even if they cry like them, Sata and PF are not cry babies. I think RB should now concentrate on serious business. Forget about constable Sata. He needs to call on all his expertise, experience and knowledge to steer Zambia ahead. But the Post must pay for its sins otherwise we are setting a dangerous precedent that they have license to abuse anyone they wish to. This is not freedom of the press but abuse of the very freedom.

  580. @834, you’re right. They have to go back to conducting themselves ethically if they are to gain back any credibility and respect. Their play on partisanship and populist rhetoric did Zambians a great disservice. PF supporters, instead of complaining about a failed election, why not advise Sata to contribute to the country through the current administration? I’m sure he’ll be welcomed back, and we all know he has the ability to get things done. KK mentioned that he would make a good minister, not president. If he is truly interested in improving our country, I don’t think anyone is stopping him from doing so through the government.

  581. #833 CITIZEN

Raising those issues, as good as they are, will not help when it comes to PF. They simply hit a dry wall. When it comes to sata, PF supporters are hardliners even in the grey matter.

  582. Why should you shoot me?? Its part of life and Zed needs a person like me to engineer rigging. If HH wants to be president you opposition guys should bribe me big time and you will win by a very big margin. Otherwise even in 2011, as long as I am alive, I will use the same tactics and they are working after all.

    Me and rigging are inseparable.

  583. Lessons for the future

People support their local team ( Each candidate has a strong hold – home town, province, tribesmen – human nature )

Unvisited Village people vote default( ruling party they know)

Urban areas are full of traders who settle for the most exciting party – Normally

The learned choose the learned even if in the minority

In a three party system, the incurbent always wins………

  584. chiluba shoud be ashmed of himself, he should even stop reading the Bible becuase he doesnt even follow wat the bible says. he wants to be hiding in the name of christianity and yet his deeds are different. shame on you kafupi

  585. @841 – judging by the results of this election, do you want a 50+1 system in place in order to have a coalition government e.g. PF + MMD? Although it sounds good on paper, is Zambia politically mature for such a system? If we had it now, the country would have undergone a runoff between PF and MMD. The whole process is very expensive for the country, especially considering that the majority of Zambians did not vote. So whoever won would not in any way form a government representing the majority. I very much doubt most of HH’s supporters in Southern Province would bother to vote all over again for candidates they didn’t want. We already have worrying voter apathy in the country.

  586. With the 50+1 in place, PF would obviously lose. The UPND vote without a PF/UPND pact will fall to MMD. You can see this from the last two elections. PF advisors are thick in the head, no brains to see such plain facts.

  587. #837. VJ alinaka, you should have checked him out on the pic boarding plane with RB, the burly is nearing the finishing line, he did a lot of FBI (female body inspector) 7 weddings, eish….. Na Tshala Mwana teti upusuke, na naka.

  588. The problem with busy bodies is that they have liitle time to sit down and analyse issues. Sata if he had listened to reason would have easily won these elections. However, Iam not suggesting that he tries again in 2011 no. He has lost too many times and it will be an insult to the intelligence of PF members and the country as whole if he attempted for the fourth time. LET PF introduce another candidate and let SATA retire and perhaps be the party’s advisor?!

  589. #572, Zed Class, i think your advise on RB marrying a 28 year old absolutely sacks, that is why you find that older men in this world today are not given any respect by young people, why? because they show it all them selves, RB is old enough to be his wife’s grand father for crying out loud!

  590. #724 is not representing the views of the northerners its one zambia one nation his opinion is a paid for tribalistic advert i even doubt whether he is one of us fwebene tatulandalanda

  591. Akaabuta mpuuti mu state house, meaning a young lady in state house. you will see very little of me until HH and PF come together.

  592. I think bembas are very tribal. Look, they rallied behind Sata, their kinsman. They will never vote for another man who has no roots to their craddle. Shame on you change, Zambia is for all

  593. But ka Chilubaaa!!!! awe mwandi, taka kwata nensoni iyi, kati nokuti the hour! mwe Lesa wandi! People you have just brought back ka Chiluba into power through RB.
    Ine ni pa Bwato forever!

  594. i’ve followed this debate and its interesting to note that PF is blaming HH for their loss.HH is some 1 PF does not respect so how shud he be important now?Now that PF has realised that they need HH’s votes let the two sit down and discuss it on the table otherwise its no use blaming HH.Sata and Guy scott walked out of the pact meeting and not HH.How PF likes to blame others for their loss.the post mislead sata and the electorate into thinking that he could go it alone.

  595. IMWE ZEDIANS, YOU HAVE VOTED ME(A ZIMBABWEAN) TO LEAD THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU CRAZY???????????????????????

  596. # 850 – princess-y, elyo nkumwene. ifintu tafyaendele bwino – i have been hit hard by this loose. But anyway, it could be a time for reflecting…… no jobs in Zed, maybe ukuyako kufyalo. maybe ka bum washing then raise funds…

just saying hi. naya ku school, ku shibukeni ku NIPA.

  597. History repeats itself: in 1964 (or there about) Zambia had a choice between Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe (northener), Harry Mwanga Nkumbula (southerner) and Kenneth David Kaunda (easterner) and they settled for the easterner becoz the bembas could not fathom being ruled by a tonga and likewise the tongas could not imagine having a bemba boss in plot 1. On 30 October 2008, zambias has a choice of Sata (north), HH (south) and RB (east); again they settled for a safer easterner

  598. In order for the PF/upnd pact to work the two will need one manifesto, they need to combine their manifestos and respect each other.period.other wise, balibe chabo

  599. DO YOU PEOPLE HONESTLY THINK THAT RB WON THE POLLS IN A FREE AND FAIR MANNER?? IF YOU DO, KINDLY EXPLAIN WHY THERE WERE REHEARSALS FOR THE INAUGURATION, INVITATION CARDS SENT OUT.. ETC EVEN WHEN VOTING HAD NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED. AND IF THAT WAS NOT BAD, THEY GO ON TO HOLD THE INAUGURATION HOURS AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNER (AND I MUST SAY THAT FROM THE LOOK OF THINGS, THEY HAD BEEN PREPARING FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME). WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY CONCLUSION:

    ELECTIONS IN ZAMBIA = CIRCUS
PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE RB WON FREE & FAIR = CLOWNS

  600. Hey Shu-ster (857) & 852 (for last part)

My blulu went off to clean old people’s bottoms. They vowed to do it only for a season and then switch to something else. Well, will watch and see. That is what they all say and then they get hooked.
Well about you – Happy schooling, remember to swata hard. Life’s a gemble you either win or lose. Wish you the former.
Good to acknowledge Shets. too. Wish he would drop the long name and shorten it to Shets. Sounds better too.

  601. …the boat has docked at a nearby island due to bad weather…WE SHALL START SAILING SOON…PABWATOOOOOOOO 4 LIFE!!! COME 2011 we will still be in the boat!!

  602. Only blind people in the mind will continue to dispute the past. It is nice to see both former Zambian Presidents Chiluba and KK happy at the inauguration ceremony for President RBB. How lost between Sata’s image builders the POST and ba-Chiluba. Imagebuilders of course lost. Ba-Chiluba (Hon. Doctrate, Malawi) has finally dribbled Sata 3 times in a roll or is it called a Hat-trick by ba-Chiluba over Sata.

As I used to write that “wina azanena YES pakati pa NO”, indeed PF cadres will say YES with time amidst their current word NO. Viva RBB and MMD for ensuring Sata is a Zambian-Politics-Exclude.

  603. VIVA RB,we have shown ‘The Post’how shameful it is to openly campaign for one particular candidate.who has been sworn in now??
i expected M’membe to be more careful than that.SHAME ON ‘THE POST’

  604. #863 follows the nice pictures in w w w . lusakatimes . c o m / ? p = 5245

I just like to see how Former President FTJ Chiluba (Hon. Doctor, Malawi) dribbled Sata 3 times in a roll – a reall and nice hat-trick. I wrote about it before the elections that ba-Chiluba will help us to dribble Sata and cause Sata to lose. How nice to see how ba-Chiluba has helped my country Zambia to be without a dictator as Zambian President.

Huts off ba-Chiluba, please hang on for you might just help us dribble Sata again in 2011. Take care and be blessed. The good Lord, God, surely forgives and please confess anything that is not yet right between you and God.

  605. HA, I HAVE NOTICED THAT A NUMBER OF THOSE WHO WERE PARTICIPATING IN THE BLOG BEFORE THE ELECTIONS HAVE STOPPED PARTICIPATING, OR MAYBE YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR NAMES. YOU SHOULD ENSURE YOU SEEK HELP FROM A SHRINK OTHERWISE YOU MAY HAVE A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN. MULEKOSA BAMAMBALA

  606. Recent history should remind us of the man who instigated 3rd term. He kept schtium when people plundered. Carlington, ZCCM. Why didn’t Hon. Sata make noise then? RB is being corrupt? What did he do/Was he ever taken to court on corruption charges? No, give the man a chance, he’s done well to carry us through our hardest times when LPM died. Mr. Sata was there for 10 years, he turned a blind eye to all the theft. RB has not even started a 3 year job and people want to shoot him down. Give him a chance like you did with Levy. If RB was such a bad person, why did he use football as a means to empower young boys and give them a chance to end their poverty?

  607. @En – well said. At least LPM even resigned from the MMD on allegations of corruption, and made an effort to change things when he got into power. PF supporters, if your leader truly is interested in improving things for Zambia, advise him to swallow his pride and join the ruling party in order to implement some of the policies he has in mind and gain first-hand knowledge about what it takes to steer our economy forward. In this day and age, going about things like Mugabe will only make things worse for our county as a whole – open your eyes and look South – you will not get a better example of what can happen to a country ruled by a socialist, thuggish approach.

  608. #194, in a parallel thread, thanks for that data: “US$ / Kwacha rate closed at K3550 selling and K4000 buying at some bureau in town. The rush started when ‘rumour’ spread that RBB is winning.
This was from a high of over K4700 to 1 dollar on Friday when results were showing that Sata was leading.” Zambia has been saved by president HH’s participation in the 30th October 2008 elections. The bouncing back of the MMD inpower has maintained investor confidence. This must be a warning enough to Sata’s PF supporters that they almost risked my beloved country Zambia becoming like Zimbabwe. Thank you all Zambians for voting President RBB as President. Forget about Sata and let us move forward.

  609. I am not a Zambian citizen but I have observed that Zambians who live in Zambia have voted for Rupiah Banda and love him so much. However Zambians in foreign lands wanted Sata to become the 4th president of the southern African country. May be the Zambians in diaspora have lost touch with reality. Stay put…southern africa is behind Rupiah Banda

  610. The MMD need to do alot of introspection, this mandate is nothing to get excited about, infact it should be a sobering moment for them and they should use this opportunity to try and do some honest work for the country and continue to drive it forward.

Congratulations to the 4th Presidito!!! Long Live Zambia!!!

  611. UNIP days back throught the back door by default. Now Mr Elijah Mudenda’s burial day declared Mourning day. maybe even a holiday in the offing.

cant understand this. it’s sad he has passed on but national mourning? Just after LPM’s. next Gray aloso Zulu to be appointed VP already william banda is at State house as special assistant.next the veterans will be put on a salary and given governemtn pool vehicles. UNIP vigilantes on the way. Zambia sucks.

  612. I am so glad I gave up my Zambian Citizenship. At least as bad as politics might be in the UK at least they is a bit of accountability. Politics of poverty will always be corrupt. How you lot can elect a bunch of thieves is beyond me. All I will say is good luck and you deserve what you get.

  613. Thank God we have been saved from the venomous snake. VIVA HH. You lost honorably and we accept the verdict. However as Zambians we stand to regret our shortcitedness. You were a ray of hope but due to high illiteracy levels we opted for mediocrity. We pray to God to sustain us.

  614. country men the elections are over. insulting the president will not help. Let us work hard to educate the rural people to vote wisely in 2011and also develope the country

  615. whoah this blog is wonderful i really like reading your posts. Keep up the great paintings! You realize, a lot of persons are hunting round for this information, you can aid them greatly.

  616. Magnificent site. Lots of helpful information here. I am sending it to a few friends ans also sharing in delicious. And obviously, thank you on your effort!

  617. Thank you, I’ve recently been looking for information about this topic for a long time and yours is the greatest I have found out till now. However, what concerning the bottom line? Are you sure about the source?|What i don’t understood is actually how you’re not really much more smartly-appreciated than you may be right now. You are so intelligent.
