UNZA happy with rehab works

The University of Zambia (UNZA)has thanked the Chinese company working on the female hostels saying the rehabilitation work is going on well.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, UNZA Public Relations Officer, Mwamba Chewe said the project was on course and is expected to be completed in April next year.

Mr.Chewe revealed that Hua Jian signed the contract with government last year in October and was working hard with first class manower to beat the intended target.

He observed that the institution had for a long time been faced with accommodation problems especially among female students adding that adequate accommodation would improve the standards of leaving at campus.

Mr. Chewe said adequate accommodation would also reduce congestion in rooms which would lead to better results due to studying space.

Mr. Chewe however said it was too early to comment on the release of funds by government as it had not yet started the process.

He added that government would see to it that the project was completed by releasing funds to pay the contractors as per agreement.

  1. Hey, did anyone know that Zambia has 3 universities excluding Mulungushi University. Therez this other one called “Northrise University” in Ndola. I had no idea. It seems pretty cool. Though it does not offer that many courses like UNZA and CBU. It looks like its a developing university. Lots of infrastructure work going on at that University. I think given time, it’ll be the best University in Zambia. You can check em out on there website. Quite inpressive. I had no idea until today.

  2. We need to build even more hostels if not Universities.

    Go for it GRZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. #4. just to concur with you. We actually need universities in each province of the country so as to relax the pressure on UNZA.

  4. we appreciate the good works currently going on at the university.atleast for the first time in the MMD government we have seen a government that can plan for education of its people.viva pre…mwanawasa and continue working hard though some people don’t appreciate your good work.

  5. l think the University problems need serious attention. The problem is donors seem University education as having high individual rate of return. Hence concentration on funding is on primary education.

  6. i think in this time and error, the best that the “so called interllectuals” would do is to concentrate on their studies and look up to employment or employing or otherwise we o look like shaka fulwe whose uncle is busy touring the world like an………….oh
