A recent survey by the Family Development Initiatives (FDI) has revealed that Kalomo district has a strong performance against the fight of Malaria.
This is contained in the cycle three survey report presented by FDI to the Kalomo district health office to portray the outcomes in the Seven health facilities where 155 respondents were interviewed on the interventions to combat Malaria in their respective areas through the community-led monitoring malaria (CLM) program.
FDI cluster coordinator Sheiki Saiti Maidi states that 92 percent of expectant mothers properly use the insecticide treated mosquitoes nets (ITNs) provided to them while 55 per cent of the respondents access malaria treatment at facility level with a 45 per cent at community level alongside scoring 99 per cent of information, education, and malaria communication (IEC) materials.
The community-led monitoring malaria (CLM) program services is an initiative of FDI with the support from Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), the health ministry and in partnership with Development Aid from People to People (DAPP).
Meanwhile, clinical care officer David Kalimanshila thanked FDI for the report saying the picture of malaria incidence and prevalence gives room for the office and its stakeholders to strengthen its efforts in the elimination of Malaria in the district.
