I won’t dismiss my nephew – Levy

Share

President Levy Mwanawasa says he would only take action against Finance Deputy Minister Jonas Shakafuswa after parliament has disposed off the case and if he feels there is need for him to take action.

President Mwanawasa said he will be prejudicing the action which parliament is dealing with if he decides to take action against the deputy minister.

He said the clerk of the National Assembly Doris Mwiinga has confirmed that the house is investigating the case.

‘ Am afraid I will disappoint you, I will not take action until parliament dispossess of the case, and I will only do so when I think that there is further need for me to move ,’ he added.

Dr. Mwanawasa said he was aware that people have labeled him all sorts of names, as a person who is a tribalist and one who seeks to protect his relatives.

He however said the Deputy Minister was his nephew and that he did not apply to be his uncle neither did the Mr. Shakafuswa apply to be his nephew.

He said Mr.Shakafuswa was appointed as Deputy Minister on the fact that he could deliver.

“ Are you not being unfair by expecting me to take action, dismiss Shakafuswa before allow the legislative body to do what ever it has to do.

Why is it that when it involves your interest you want me to abandon the rule of law, I will not decide on the popular wills of the people ,’ he said

The President was reacting to recent calls from some members of parliament for him to dismiss finance deputy minister over his remarks he altered in parliament which the women movement are saying were an insult to the women.

The President reiterated that as a custodian of the constitution, which he will rule by the laws and not by men.

Dr. Mwanawasa added by being a lawyer that he is deemed to know the law which he does abide by the Zambian would accuse him of not following the law.

He said Zambians could have forgiven First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and Second Republican President Dr. Fredrick Chiluba because they did not know law.

“Am sorry it too late to reverse things, you voted for a lawyer and you should be ready to stick to the law, Mr. Mwanawasa said at State House today.

  1. what do you expect from that man, sorry ,that why we have wrong characters in govt.even tommorow he wiii just be beating people not insulting.dissapointed citizen

  2. who doesnt know that LPM has been practising nepotism. The whole cabinet is full of his relatives any way, which is a pity. This kind of attitude will give way to other department heads to practice the same. Chiluba was the same. Thats why the only leader Zambia can only brag of is KK with his one zambia one nation philosophy. And the country was really one.

  3. Mwanawasa must start going to the gym or go on diet. He must be the fattest president around.

  4. If only you knew what an empty person Shakafuswa is, you wouldnt be talking about his statements at Parly. Questions should have been raised when he was appointed! but what do you expect from ba mwisho! trash government came from and trash it will appoint.

  5. like i said our leader is hopless.. fire shaka already….. if this was somone else yo ass would have taken action.. now get yo fatt ass out of state house and fire that bombacloat!!!!!!

lost all hope in u levy shame on u..

  6. NO no no!! i know all of us are expecting Levy to act quickly simply because Shaka is his nephew!. Thats not right either we would be too shallow if we continue thinking like that.

  7. 5. please moderate your language. you can be arrested or have this site closed. You think you cant be traced you rat. we know your IP adress.

  8. As much as I am a lamba woman i do not support Shaka and his foolish utterances. levy should fire him, look at the way Nevers Mumba was fired instantly at blubbering some words so equality should prevail. look at shaka in today’s post with a big pot belly which he unveils to every woman shame on him. And thats the stripper we wnat to keep in govt pls mr mwanawasa think twice.

  9. Why should we even wait for Levy to fire him. The **shole should just quit by himself on moral grounds. When are we ever goin to stop practising POP(politics if poverty)? He and his family is afraid that once he quits, there isnt gonna be any bread n butter on the table.God damn zambian politicians! What example is he setting to the people of Zambia? That u can do any S**t n go away with it just by saying sorry? To hell with that.ShakaFuc****r should have already quit by now.Quit you moron!

  10. if only we know what some of you say in your dreams! you would be worse than shakasufwa

  11. Iwe prof.mutengo. Are you sure these are your qualifications? Which year were you at Oxford because I dont see your name under former graduates?

Atleast we dream dreams but dont put dreams verbally like your uncle Shaka! There is a difference between dreams and reality.

  12. Prof. Mutengo Waminga, on which side are you as far as this Shakafuswa case is concerned? One minute you condemn him and the next one you are on people who are against him #11. Which is which Prof.?

  13. It is a sorry sight that Levy must sink to such low standards! While Mundia and others are being fired on flimsy grounds it sets terrible precedence that we can have a president playing such double standards. Levy must put his foot down and be the president we expect him to be.

  14. # 16 Check your english please. ‘Deadliest’ not ‘deadriest’. ‘Should repent’ and not ‘should be repent’.
Do you speak that language in the USA. No wonder you embarass us, Africans, in front of foreigners.

  15. I just want to know, why was Mulyata fired even before investigations were done? What we are saying is fire him NOT ON LEGAL GROUNDS but on MORAL grounds. There’s no law the commands firing and hiring of ministers. Its up to the discretion of the president. So if our president has any morals, please fire this woman killer.

  16. Guys, don’t threaten other people on this site. Mwanawasa cannot be compared to Chiluba in terms of nepotism. That you know for sure. Levy is the waste president ever to rule any country South of the Equator. As I said before, Levy will either leave Shakafuswa were he is or give him foreign service position. Zambia now is Lenje/Lamba country. I have inside info about how he runs his gov. Why do you think Kapita kept his job despite firing the competent Lozi guy over the same reason? Some of you will be fooled by the numbers that the economy is doing fine under his rule, but the fact is, those are concocted figures to appease the West. Look at the conditions of employeed people in ZED

  17. Have you guys noticed the dressing of your so called president on the picture above? Come on guys, this guy is so hopeless that the Jacket and the all attire look like a bricklayer. Is that the way he looks wherever he goes to represent Zambians? Man, Chiluba for sure is classy. Kwati bafwele overalls nakatambala ka chibe patumba. Awe, Zambia made wrong choice on this guy for sure. Even his crazy nephew dresses better. The all attire is hanging one side.

  18. #20 Kalos!!, Chiluba might be your relative, although Mwanawasa is bad Chiluba was worse my friend. You cannot compare the two, lets face reality. The Mwanawasa tree is not as worse as Chiluba’s arrengements. Lets be very carefull and think peoperly despite Mwanawasa wrongs.

  19. Kabwa #22. Mention what Chiluba did that you know of apart from what you have heard from others that you think was wrong. In terms of tribal nonsense, even my dog knows how Mwanawasa operates. The so called Mwanawasa tree stinks and I know it. Do you know how many family members of Mwanawasa are in government positions today, be it at home or abroad? Do you know that putting family members only in positions is another form of corruption? Do you Realise that Mwanawasa has already stated that he will leave Zambia immediately his term is over? Why? Do you that MMD has no Vice President because he was thinking of his wife as next President?

  20. #21-23 you made me laugh guys. Ba presdo besu na ka potbelly, just imagine him standing in the UN assembly like that. ooo maweeee. Our presdo need to gyming guys. I think from all the presdos we had i can conclude from there dressin. KK ama safari suit means conservative or socialist, Chiluba ama bling bling lyali likuluku. Ba Mwanawesu awe te fyakulanda vyakula vye….
    Like KK suits

  21. I have not been around for sometime, but I hear that ba pres was one time pricking his nose on TV. Please sam1 to enlighten me.

  22. If the man is not fired, there will be national wide stikes. This is just the begining. The man is deputy FINANCE minister, so what do you expect. He knows so much.

  23. Shaka must be fired and am sure he will if not the pipo will rise!!. Kalos #20 Chiluba had put Bembas as managing directors in almost all the major companies. Look at the list of all those who are facing the law with him 90% are Bembas. That is not enough, but stealing caanot be compared to Shi Chipo’s backwardsness and nepotizim. Stealing is worse!!

  24. I feel for the young women of Zambia. This man will just be on the loose now “slaughtering”. LPM says neither of them applied to be related. To me, it looks more like a confession of nepotism!! LEVY PATRICK MUGABE!

  25. Kabwa #28, the pipo in trouble of embezzling funds were not appointed by Chiluba. When you say Chiluba appointed Bembas in as MDs, let it be known that Chiluba privatized state run companies. So, which companies did he appoint them to? Bashi Chipo appointed a brother as head of intelligency/security and he got killed by a whore in SA. Come on. What Levy is doing is trying to break the Bembas and those from Luapula. He wants to divide the nation. You also state that Chiluba was appointing Bembas, plz realize that Chiluba is not a Bemba per se? In Luapula, there’re Lundas, Ushi, Ngumbo, and others. Will you comment on the dressing too. Teach Levy to look Presidential plz.

  26. Levy is damn. No one is asking him to drop Shakafuswa as his nephew. That excuse is hollow and will remain so. What laws is he referring to that govern appointing and disappointing his members of the cabinet. Does he mean he is afraid that Shakafuswa will sue him and government for wrongful termination? Where can we get brain transplant for Levy plz?

  27. No direction in all these post thus far.Where have the few intelligent bloggers that occasionally patronized this blog with sense and depth in diversity during its prime migrated too?
You mean now LT has become a den of none thinking, uneducated toddlers only?Anybody with idea as to Why Zambian run blogs suffer this deficiency? I’m yet to see professional driven, inspiring, mind stimulating, and high caliber audience targeted blogging by Zambians.Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria have proved running some resourceful blogs.Who is the audience of our blogs? Any measure of success? Does SMART (Specific, Measurability)apply

  28. Harmony #32. Stop cutting and pasting. It makes your argument even more weak. You are now sounding like Levy, don’t you think so?

  29. I like this President.Levy is a great leader. The honourable Minister as of today did not commit any crime. He was merely expressing his opinion. Those of you calling for his firing give us concrete reasons and evidence.I question the credibility of some people trying to call for morals when themselves are living with other people s wives.Chiluba and group are supposed to keep quiet. Its because of men that get other people s wives who led to the death of John The baptisit.Lets wait for the report from the Speaker.Lets even draw a line between speaking ones mind and commiting a crime or code of conduct

  30. Why does our president always boast about his knowledge of the law as if that actually gives him wisdom and indeed dominion over us? There is no point of law here. This is a straight forward case of a minister bringing the government into disrepute. All the waffle about the law and how he must wait for the speaker to investigate is irrelevant. He could fire him and still continue the investigation. As far as I am aware, adultery is not a criminal offense, but in many countries, ministers who habitually commit adultery often get fired. Zambian politicians are lucky because they do not have the types of tabloid newspapers their counterparts in the west have to deal with.

  31. Iwe prof Mutengo dont show your shallow minded brain on the internet. Who cares about mwanawasa and his stupid nephew

  32. Using the law as a smoke screen when all you are doing is protecting a relative is not only short sighted but also reckless. It makes people wonder whether the president cares for any moral direction for the nation.

  33. Is there a dress code for Cabinet/MPs and other offficials? What about Presidents? Do we have people who make sure our Prez look nice? Man, the picture above is of my great concern. If the dressing is like that, what about what is inside that? Now we know why Shakafuswa will survive this episode. Uncle Pepe Kalle will protect him.

  34. Mwanawasa has a sheared brain jus like the jacket he is wearing is sheared.Perhaps we need to reinforce his brain before it finally cracks in ultimate limit,we need to help the man operate in his servceability limit state. He requires a check in bending towards his tribal mate, and perhaps a check in shear brain carrying capacity. Then later we need to prove that political loads dont exceed the brain capacity

  35. KAUNDA RAN SHORT OF IDEAS IN HIS POLITICAL LIFE.
CHILUBA RAN INTO SO MANY PEOPLE’S WIVES IN HIS POLITICAL LIFE.
MWANAWASA IS RUNNING AND DANCING ON PEOPLE’S MINDS USING LAW.

AS TAXPAYERS WE ARE THE BEST PEOPLE WITH IDEAS, THAT EXPLAINS KAUNDA’S MIGHTY FALL. TAXPAYERS ARE THE BEST WIFE GRABERS HENCE CHILUBA COULD NOT OUTWIT US WITH HIS THIRD TERM BID. TAXPAYERS ARE THE BEST LAWYERS AND THIS WILL EXPLAIN WHY LEVY CAN NEVER SUCCEED DANCING ON OUR BRAINS, THE TAXPAYERS WILL VISIT HIM IF THE LAW HE USES FAILS.
ALL IN ALL, TAXPAYERS ARE THE GREATEST ASSET FOR MOTHER ZAMBIA. UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. ShakafuSEX, your days in Parly are being numbered by YOUR SEX DESIRE.

  36. Levy must read what is happening to Formula 1 Prez (Mosley). Morality in leadership is supreme. If Levy thinks the law must always take it’s course, even when he knows that the issue is about morality and not legality, I dare say he needs help himself. This Baobab tree in a blue suit called Levy, should distinguish between legal issues and Morality/Ethical issues.

  37. It is interesting to read all the comments from you esteemed colleagues that want to express yourselves on the issue of nepostism, tribalism and the rule of law. While it is a fact that Mwanawasa is a learned counsel, it is painful to see how improper his conduct is when it comes to dealing with people from “kumishi yesu”.

Other writers have commented on Kaunda as the only leader that did not practice nepostism which makes me laugh. I realise that some of you colleagues were not yet born at the attainment of independence and you have discarded reading the History of Zambia so as to know how Nepostism worked under the Kaunda regime.

  38. Part 2

Many of may know that Old Ken came from Nyasaland and when he got into power, he did not trust the likes of Kapwepwe and his Bemba friends. It was from the infight within the UNIP politibro that he devised an advanced system of Nepotism which many Zambians do not know to this day.

If one was to take stock of how many Malawians were in Kaunda’s government, you will soon realise that Zambia was truely ruled by Malawians. Here are some Names for you to research on; Petronella Kawandami whose father was from Malawi but settled at Mbereshi Mission, James Mapoma, Jason Mfula at Chipili Mission, Former Secratary to the Cabinet Evan Bilima “called Wilima in Zambia,” Francis Kaunda

  39. Part 3,

The Mwenechanya brothers from northern Malawi, Wesley Nyirenda, and many more in parastatal companies.

Come to President Chiluba, Chiluba’s government had more Tonga Minsiters than Bembas and it is unbelievable for to think that the Luapulans were moe nepotic than Kaunda. Contarry to this belief, every person given the powers like those of a Presidnet would never want his own to suffer but there should be check and balances to ensure that the rule of law is upheld.

If Shaka was in the western world he could not be in governement for he once short at somebody in Kanyama compound when he was just a mere police reserve pimping for those indians who he knows very well.

  40. Part 4….

Friends, let us have some well innformed submission on such forms instead of trading insults so that other can learn and benefit from our discussions rather than parading our ill concieved ideas on topics that we have no understanding. Let this be a learning tool for the future generation.

    Ndalumba Kapati… Nasanta bingi…. Natotela sana,… Ngunasakwilako chikuma..Nasakilili nanksnashi…Ndaonga Zikhomo…Nitumezi Hahulu…Siyabong’a Khakulu..Asante sana

  41. Iwe gentleman.. Mona ama spelling na grammar… Uli Kaonde nga Tetamashimba??? Nagula wafum kumo kwine na Shakafuswa…. i know the Kawandami.. They are true lundas.. Wilabepa ubufi

  42. Distinguish between Nyasaland and Malawi just as there is a difference between Northern Rhodesia and Zambia. there was no border bewteen northern rhodesia, nyasaland and southern rhodesia and all the peoples in these land masses were called British protectorates. Political borders were made by the british just to divide the people more and more and this has just created enemity between the the three land masses, formerly called norhern, southern rhodesia and nyasaland. Coming to the point, KK balanced the leadership and u can vividly see this for yourselves as its a fact to big to just brush aside. Mwanawasa and chiluba have failed as they killed the one zambia one nation principle.

  43. lets wait and see the prezido has the power to apoint and dis apoint like it happened with mulyata. I knw him dont worry

  44. I cant say that Mwanawasa and Chiluba failed. To be honest Africa is not yet ready for the American system of Democracy.Democracy in this the part of the world had become a means of survival. How do you expect a balanced leadership in a country where 70%leave in poverty, have no access to information, can not interpret activities in a country. When KK took over,Zambia was Africa s second richest country. Most of the problems that we are having today are because of kaunda.Let our leaders first encourage us to receive education and turn our countries into medium income coutries then I can assure you that most of these problems will dissappear

  45. Levy’s tribalism stinks, hardly did I know that Shakafuswa is his nephew.

I wish my nephew Mundia Nalumino was not killed by “ushilumbulwa pe shina”, maybe then I will also be like Castro wa Chiluba or Shakafuswa wa Chuchu and escape punishment with impunity. Anyway, what will stop Shaka from flying over the throat of all ‘ENEMIES’ now that he knows his uncle Chuchu will always back him like Chiluba did his truant son Castro? Shaka is the new Castro, awe sure twacula!!!

  46. Whether the President’s nephew or not, he is a bad egg, needed to be uprooted from the entire national and party leadership. These are the type of people that will cause the President himself to regret in the near future, because we are watching and listening.

Will Nepotism really end in this nation?

  47. Hmmmm very interesting. So LPM is not even ashamed to pick on his relatives? Its a matter of time it will be all over for him. You remember FTJ and KK? There is no distinction between them and me a commoner when we meet on the streets of Lusaka. Levy has put his entire family tree at risk more especially when a new party assumes office in 2011. The truth is the MMD is not continuing after 2011. That in itself will lead to the scrinising of all the positions/portfolios held by his relatives and of course the eventual dismissal. You can imagine the effect that will have on the family tree. Ba mwisho do not run this country as if it is your village.

  48. Ba-Levy, you not the only lawyer in this country. Why trying to hide behind the law to promote nepotism and your paranoic family tree member. Get serious man, which law did you study which promotes such mediocre leadership, disrespecting women, promoting promisculity…?Ba-Levy you are really a nepotist.Your nephew is playing with pungs of HIV/AIDS and your are backing him, he will die soon adding to the number of orphans. You really mean to reap from our resources as a family tree regardless of how substandard your team is. You would have been ashamed to utter such words to support hopeless behavior Levy, but to our horror you weren’t. Ba politician really tamwakata ensoni.

  49. Shaka was not wrong in any way.it’s reality and most of our fellow women are slaughtered! they like it and so let it.there are so many things we cud unite and fight for as women not Shaka’s comments.be careful with these unmarried or divorced women pretending to run NGO’s,they will destroy your homes. No need to fire Shaka.

  50. ‘#41 & #44 lol, i also thought he kind of looks more scruffy than his bodygaurds and escorts. hanky carelessly shoved in the somehow cheap looking jacket, head looking down as if empty, has George Bush been to Zed lately ? I mean that guys knows how a president must present himself in public.

  51. #18 and 19 point of correction, mulyata was fired after he was arrested, but it also took some time. However i totally agree with you that LPM should separate legality from morality, he shoud fire his nephew on moral grounds. Anyway since he says he knows law than any other zambian, his govt is of laws and not of morals… Indeed what a regime.

  52. to some point, it is better to have may be a government of laws and not of morals. anyway just my wierd thoughts after Shakafuswa called me today.

  53. icho chavoka chi mwine no size mudala. cant be pushed and he is not a boot licker. take it or leave it iam not going to fire my nephew Shaka. hip hip huree….kamba uzalema zonda uzalema i am in charge.

  54. What can ba Jonas Shakafuswa deliver? the man does not even hold a college degree. he spent most of his time perfecting the art of karate and running a small printing business he had inherited from his late father. he also used to assist with running the inlaw’s bottle stores in woodlands extension. it is your turn bena kulibonesha?

  55. Chuchu on the above picture really look alike Chuchu from “NO ONE BUT YOU” no wander his name. Those of you who were with me in the 1990 will remember this soap on ZNBC tv.

  56. Levy, you are the worst leader as for as nepotism is concerned. Why are you turning our country into your back yard full of rats and nephews?

  57. Maureen it is your duty to make sure that your hubby dress well alatusebanya to outsiders, who think all zedians are scruffy.

  58. a follow up from 18, if our president hires and fires people on legal grounds, I would have loved to see a medicle report showing that Mundia Sikatana was not medically fit to be Minister. That could be one leagal document which could be used to justify his dismissal. I really tend to think our president lucks own mental memory so as to forget so quickly.

Its a pitty that hard working ministers of high morals are sent off to pave way to incompetent sacastic ones. Mwanawasa should not forget that just as much as Chiluba is undergoing corruption charges, nepotism is a form of corruption that may see him run from court to another after 2011.

  59. Shaka stays as far as I know, he was merely stating a point of fact, these women should start condeming the man, let them rid the streets of all the prostitutes around because as long as they stay there, men will find some women who are willing to be slaughtered and this is casual talk that everybody always gets involved in, there are certain things said by other people who are not ministers and they are not censured, for instance what guarantee do we have that when shaka is fired then he will reform, he will still be MP. From my school of thought I was told that everybody is defacto a leader and influences an average 10,000 persons in their lifetime so before you slaughter shaka think about

  60. 3 things you have done which are not exactly conforming to society standards and then point a finger at shaka. Imagine our Jesus in here going public to the post with his pronouncements, he would be killed. I rest my case, shaka or no shaka the country is still poor and is still facing blackouts!!!

  61. BaMwine, kwena amano elyo yapwile, namona. Your nephew needs some discipline, for sure; and if you can not do it now, then we know where you stand with your so called Law-presidency. take care mudala!

  62. #73 You dont that Shaka is contributing to the poor state of the country by him going about “slaughtering” women and spreading HIV/AIDs to them, which in turn kills the majority of them and leaving many orphans with no food, education, medical and proper motherly care.

  63. #46 You should include CHINULA, BWANAUSI, LIWEWE, WILLIAM BANDA to mention but a few as some of pipo Old Ken came with from Nyasaland.

  64. After all is said and done,I have sat down and realised, mwanawasa is a great leader still, there will never be anyone like him,God bless Him and his leadeship qualities

  65. Yes, he is a great leader to some people. After all you cannot please everyone. The easiest is please fellow tribesmen and relatives. Give them all gov positions, send them all in foreign service. After all Zambians will never find out that you have been a tribalist and staunch nepotist. The media wont rant on you as they are run from your offices too. If they talk too much, tell your cousin at Zesco to turn off electricity. If they don’t stop, tell your tribesmates Shikapwasha and Mpombo that they will haul them to jails. If they don’t, tell Masebo not to grade the roads. If they are abroad, your relatives will not represent them as long as they don’t listen. Wow, list is endless.

  66. ctn. If they need money, you tell BOZ gov to check their villages first. Why do you think he has Fundanga at BOZ and Shakafuswa at Finance? All family. You, Engineer, I once thought Levy would be a good leader. But when Chiluba asked him to submit 10 names for appointments, he gave Chiluba all lambas and lenjes. Chiluba could only accept 6 of those people that he was given. If you want to know more about this Baobab tree you call Levy, ask Sebestian Kopalande or his one time security detail when he was VP, Captain Mofu. Sometimes I feel traumatised by what I know about your current president.

  67. President Mwanawasa is offcourse not an ideal leader but I think he is the best we have ever had in Zambia. The man was a headboy at school, unzasu President,Vice President, President. His leadership qualities were being recognised at everystage of life.He could perform better but as you know the MMD party lost its vision and human resource a long time ago.President Mwanawasa was not shy to appoint members of the opposition because MMD lacks the right people and organisation and I give him credit for that.

  68. Choma1, could those appointments from the opposition have come after he had no more family members to appoint? Or did he do that for a simple fact that even those he appointed from the opposition belonged to his tribe or were one way or other linked to him or his wife? And how many from the opposition did he appoint if I may ask? With regard to leadership qualities, mention 4 that you have seen in Levy that makes you feel he is a good leader? Don’t talk about the economy, Chiluba started the trend and it is Chiluba gov policies that are still being used in the Levy Government. So, mention the ones you know of about Levy.

  69. We all know that its chiluba who hijacked the MMD dream and vision. He introdenced hero worshipping and he would openly demand for blind loyalty. He had to make sure that he frustrated all the men that wrote the MMD manifesto. the guy was never at easy with dealing with honesty men.You saw the chawama violence, introduction of Pangas, people like Nakawala took control of the country,oh those DAs.Mwanawasa is slowly bringing sanity.Appointing a relative is a normal thing as long as proceedure is followed. From 1991 to 2001 Zambia lost a good number of politicians and businesmen thru deaths and deportation

  70. Choma1. One appointment of Dipak out of how many? If I were you I would just keep it to myself rather than defending the indefensable sins of that guy. If I may remind you again, I was also asking you to site 4 leadership qualities you have seen in Levy. Dipak is not a leadership quality. Probably you did not get the first question, I repeat, how many from the opposition did he appoint?

  71. Levy should not be stuck up. Why say that it is too late to vote someone else? Pick your words carefully or they will come back to bite you. You already said you are disappointed if the claims are true. Just zip it and let justice prevail.

  72. Kalos2020 you want to tell me you would never appoint your qualified brother or friend or qualified inlaws?I believe leaders are supposed to be surrounded by close people and capable people regardless of family or frendship ties, people who will speak the truth and not people who will only protect their jobs.Kaunda had sons as ministers.chiluba had so many of his relations in top positions

  73. The problem with us guyz is that we are armchair critics and unwilling to do something for our country. We as citezens are more powerful than the President. If you think LPM is abusing his powers then we have channels to deal with that.Dont be cowards comeout in open and follow the proceedure. The MMD is stuck no more human resource this is evident in the appointment of Daniel Munkombwe

  74. Choma1 #86, The word NEPOTISM is what you are just advocating for. Are you saying that only Levy’s family members are qualified in the all entire Zambia? What kind of myopia is that? The MMD is not stuck. Levy has made it stuck. The appointment of Munkombwe is not a sign of MMD being stuck, it is a sign of failure by the appointing authority. I am not even thinking of Sata being a good leader, but the way things are going, I would just even puppy to take over. Do you think Levy is normal? Check the photo above? If that does not tell you something, what should I say? He fails to dress properly, do you think he can distinguish between legal and moral issues?

  75. Kalos2020 which guy might take over in 2011 any suspects?Offcourse I know that Zambia has a leadership crisis but we should all be held responsible for that.Finger pointing wont take us anywhere

  76. Ba mudala ba levy awe balwele ,ba lemoneka kwati chipuba.Zambia needs to start looking for the next President,so by the time Levy leaves office, the zambian people will have a very good look at the candidates for the next President ,and then they will have a say to pick somebody who will take Zambia to another level.talking about this Retard is a worst of time we already voted for him.shame on you Mr President make your relative step down.

  77. Hey Ba Mwanawasa! you should hve done the same with the people you fired before i.e Vernon Mwaanga, Nervers Mumba, Enock Kavindele e.t.c. Zambians is this the president you re elected?

  78. Imorality hoooo imorality! In Finland an MP has been ejected out of his portifolio for merely texting erotic messages to a prostitute. Here we have a self confessed irremorseful sexual pervert in cabinet, been protected by the head of state. It’s times like this one wishes Sata or KK were in plot 1. This level of immorality would not have been heard of.

  79. I find it childish and premature to be talking about how fat the president is or how he dresses, Let us look at real issues, it takes strong minds to discuss serious issues. Let us be focused and look at real issues. I suppose we are all adults hence we should behave like adults.

  80. Well said ICE, we as a country are still very far from maturiry and unfortunately the casual approach we take in everything even shows in this forum, I am a zambian leaving in zambia, and there are a lot of issues that need attention than Mwanawasa’s suits, has anyone mentioned anything about Muammar Gadaffi’s dressing at international gatherings but look at where Libya is compared to DRC where the president puts on Bryon suits. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

  81. One more thing ICE thought to consider for the fashion crazy where did Chiluba’s BLING take us!!! ha ha ha

  82. #94 There nothing childish about pipo demanding their presdo to look smart and not look like some fuzzy. Let us be realistic the presdo any country is a role model for many citizens of the country concern and many pipo look to him in whatever he does including dressing. Infact the country is looked upon at the conduct and behaviour of the leader.

  83. I would imagine how the indians felt with Gandhi representing them in loin cloth, but guess what Tata of india today is purchasing Jaguar and Landrover after being represented by a man in loin cloth to get their independence!!!! Bryon suits or Masaka what matter is what is in the head

  84. Anonymous Shakafuswa was insulting in a suit, so you are right when you say conduct and bahaviour, if dressing at all constitutes conduct, then there are a lot of us with a lot to be desired in this regard

  85. We just want our president to look at least presentable. Though he looks like somone who has just been fished from a lake, he has perfomed far better than chiluba who had hundreds of suits and shoes made from crocodile skin. Indeed chiluba’s open-ended and mainly avarice-driven consumption to satisfy the wants of his materialistics life-styles, increasingly characterised by vanity and hedonism, is proving to be the nemesis of our economic stagnation in zed.

  86. The main issue on this blog is, will he drop his sick minded nephew? If not, why? The other issue is the denial inwhich most of you his tribemen find yourselves. This is a man who dropped Sikatana for poor health but keeps his tribemate on the government payroll who found himself in the same situation. Why? When pipo point out about ones dressing, it is becoz they have seen something. Come on guys, if he can look like that on a tour, this man really needs a feeding bottle and bib when eating. Are you telling me this man does not check himself in the mirror before he ventures out in public. Kwati lishilu.
