PF not ready for convention – Lubinda

Share

The Patriotic Front (PF) says it is not ready to hold its provincial and national conventions.

Party Spokesperson Given Lubinda told ZANIS in an interview that the PF would only hold its provincial and national conventions when it is adequately ready.

Mr. Lubinda pointed out that it would be meaningless for the party to vene its provincial and national conventions when it was not fully ready.

He however said the party would hold its provincial and national convention when the time is ripe.

Mr. Lubinda, who is also Kabwata Member of Parliament, said the party was under no pressure to convene is conventions.

“An egg cannot hatch before its due date,” he said.

Opposition PF has for sometime now been promising its supporters and sympathizers that it would soon hold its provincial and national convention.

The ruling MMD recently held its Eastern Province extra-ordinary conference.Kennedy Zulu is the new Eastern Province MMD Chairperson.

Mr. Zulu emerged winner in a tightly contested election after beating his closest rival, Lameck Mangani.

Mr. Mangami, who is also Chipata Central Member of Parliament and Lusaka Province Minister, lost by four votes after a recount because initially the two attracted the same number of votes.

The position of Chairperson which was contested by four candidates saw Mr. Zulu emerging victorious after polling 84 votes against his closest rival, Lameck Mangani who got 80 votes.

The other two contestants, Sherry Thole and Allan Sakala got seven and four votes respectively.

The Secretary’s position went to Rueben Chisanga with 116 votes beating Watch Banda who got 71 votes. The Vice Secretary is Charles Bensaia.

Mohamed Badat has retained his position as Treasurer and his Vice is Edward Banda.

The position of Information and Publicity Secretary went to Filimino Banda and his Vice is Nyimba Member of Parliament, Forrie Tembo.

Martha Mulenga beat two other contestants, Dorothy Dewe and Gertrude Zulu to become the Chairperson of the Provincial Women in development with Dorothy Phiri as her Vice.

The Provincial Youth Chairperson’s seat has been scooped by Samson Thole after beating Chipata Municipal Council Mayor, Sinoya Mwale.

Moses Moyo is the Vice Youth Chairperson and the Secretary is Christopher Katyetye.

The elections were held after the Provincial Executive Committee was dissolved last February by the National Executive Committee following squabbles in the party.

  1. Speed kills, 2011 is a few years away. PF neeeds to organise properly so that when the time comes for a formidable team to take over Government it is done flawlessly. So # 1 relax a bit. We dont want to choose pipo now and then expose them to MMD for corruption like they did on the NCC.

  2. PF is allergic to democracy. No convetion since 2001 & now there useless leader z urging the Govt not implement the new tax regime which z in effect starting today NONSENSE

  3. PF would never have a convention. Sata wants to be president at all costs. He therefore wants no one on his way. I really dread Sata becoming president of Zambia. Sata will be worse than Chiluba.

  4. PF and democracy are a far distant apart, they know it.How do you go to your third election (2011) with leaders who chose themselves. And this is a party pipo want in government, my foot.Let them prove how democratic they can be then we will take them seriously. You cannot be an urban party and expect to run a nation.PF should sell itself nation-wide not only shatty compounds of urban zambia, but first they practice what they democracy.Pipo will give them renewed mandates. Not self made presidents, etc.

  5. I have PF phobia…Reason why I’ve got to be in the diaspora. When this so called PF wins, (if it will ever win,) the Zambians will be subjected to Starlin’s purges. What a pity!

  6. #5.Never mind,PF will put up a strategy whereby half the cabinet will be drawn from the shatty compounds. Tha will be participatory democracy.

  7. We need conventions for all parties.Pliz NCC make sure all parties that won’t hold conventions shouldn’t be allowed to participate in 2011.We can’t have a party whcih isn’t democratic in this age and era.!!

  8. Ryt on # 8.
“half the cabinet will be drawn from the shanty compounds. That will be participatory democracy.” hahahahahahah…….

  9. #8 ha ha ha indeed, well in short if we are to rephrase Given’s statement, “all of you talking democracy get the f&&k out, and leave PF alone because we are not considering a f&*^king convention”. Well can anyone really challenge sata(n), don’t you people think that the reason they do not want to hold a convention is because no one will challenge Sata and that will be a blow to their claim of democracy. that is my personal view!

  10. Guided democracy in PF or is misguided democracy! Cannot allow one chain smoker to hang on to power for all that time. We need fresh blood in PF!

  11. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have a cabinet drawn from people from shanty compounds, they are zambians too, arent they. By the way what have these people drawn from kabulonga etc done for this country. only stealing and turning National assembly motel into a prostitutes den.

  12. Sober reflection Kay, it is true and look at the cabinet drawn from Matero, Chilenje and kabwata did for this country (first republic) but at the same time there is nothing wrong from being drawn from the shanty, what matters is what drives you, if you are drawn from the shany (austin chewe quarter master) and half the time you are showing off instead of delivering then that is wrong, infortunatelt Ego has nothing to do with where you stay, except the impression is that a person from the shanty (willie nsanda) might be overly egotistical as compared to someone from an affluent society (my view)!

  13. Bana bahesu! are you sure mr sata is the right material to rule zambia. When he is already exercising dictatorship in his party which we saw when these MPs who challenged him to explain what he meant by blood money, and some who were involved in NCC were dropped, thats not democracy. The man is growing old we need new blood to rule us with a sound mind, people fail to believe that there is senile dementia which comes in old age, people stop thinking properly, wants to be in power 4 life like mugabe, they lose their short term memory, these are some of the symptoms which some of you mistake to be wisdom. Find new blood in PF.

  14. There is no legal requirement what so ever for PF to hold a convention, the consitution of the Republic of Zambia and the PF are very clear on this. If the supporters are not happy with this they can easliy form thier own parties and hold conventions as and when they please, or have the Zambian consitution amended to say so.
If they are happy, they will continue to support the PF as is evident in the 2006, and all bye-elections since.

  15. Viva PF, Viva Zambia!!

Zambia needs Sata at the moment to prosper. Sata is currently the most practical of all Zambian politicians. HH is still very young hence immature. We need Sata in order to start shaping up our destination for prosperous. Russia, Germany and many other prosperous nations were once ruled by leaders of Sata’s caliber. No wonder they are so prosperous. Whilst here we claim we are a peaceful and christian nation.Bufii ubu!! Majority of Zambians are dishonesty. Come 2011…wina a zalilaa!! Sata akateka. Bravo PF!!!!

  16. Agness the problem with you is that you send more time “tea bugging” jonas shakafuswa? HH is a man of integrity and character. experience means nothing if your motive is different. leadership is about the right things that shall benefit the nation as a whole. sata only wants a hefty pension before he retires as he won’t be able to sustain his wives. his wives may end up “tea bugging” some young fellow.

  17. To put Sata in office will be a deadly mistake coz he will hold on to power leading to a civil war in zambia, such violent characters when put in the office can over do things, lets try HH as for now he is the only hope.

  18. Lubinda, you are really a failure in life. When are you going to sort out drainage system in kabwata and chilenje? Are you not even ashamed to be standing in parliament when people in your constituency are canoeing to reach chilimbulu road?

  19. Ma! CPA and what is that? Just say what you want to say all of us have qualifications some of us you even have to turn the business card to page two to read the qualifications!!!

  20. If PF was to hold a convention today, Sata would win and I believe that he would be unopposed. Sata has what it takes to win an election. The man is politically tested and has charisma. He can draw and woo voters; this is why he is going to win the 2011 presidential elections. These other boys i.e. HH, Prof Chirwa, Prof Mutengo Waminga (jerk), Sakwiba, Mulongoti, bla bla bla are novices (for lack of a better word) and raw. They need tutoring and mentoring before they can aspire to the highest office. True to the saying, the devil you know is better than…..

  21. # 23. Could you please explain why this ” wamuyaya syndrome” has taken loot in you? How can you defend a toothless and tired lion?
This is a quotable quote “The man is politically tested”…Yes of course tested to view zed affairs in a non-progressive way.
What new thing has he on offer, which he could not deliver during his entire political career? Let’s move forward and bring in new leaders on the platform. If I would be in ZED, i would not render support to tired lions. Let TSRIP

  22. hahahahahahahahah, Friends, now going for people like Dr sata Dr.sondashi and Dr. mugabe is moving the wheel backwards, and i mean many years backwards. Lets think posively and put pipo who can drive this country forward.
Have we run short of people honestly to start thinking of comedians as presidents.
Pipo like sata can can pass a bill in parliament to allow corruption and dictatorship to take root. he can pardon all thieves.
Come 2011 we are coming back to zambia to vote against wrong characters like sata and others.
I love my country so much that i wouldnt want it to be ruled by tired snakes and crocodiles.

  23. The problem with us Zambians is we have collective amnesia.
Have you forgotten how Sata supported FTJ with his third term issue and chased away the 46 from the MMD? Sata is the wrong person for president. We need new blood to lead Zambia. Sata changes like a cammelion one day supporting mine taxes, the other day against them, one day condemning FTJ the other day supporting him. He will stop at nothing to get to plot one.

  24. #25, you are right, Zambia is not short of leaders for us to go back to dictators/comedians for leadership. When Sata thought he was winning in the last election, he invited Mugabe as his guest of honour; what a role model! Even the name ‘PF’ is copied from ZANU-PF!!! Do we really want to go the Zimbabwe way after 2011? I hope not. Sata, has not demonstrated democratic credentials within his PF (almost 8 years without elections; dismissals for any sign of dissent!). How will he uphold democratic values if given the state machinery to abuse? Gentlemen, let’s be a bit serious about the future, if not about our own, at least that of our children.

  25. Also, most of the bloggers here will be at the mercy of Panga wielding vigilantes (Chawama style) if we don’t take things seriously. Surely, our memories should not be too short over what some people think is charisma. Chiluba, despite all his mistakes, had charisma. Sata, what charisma?

  26. #24 (warm hearted), I have not seen any ‘new blood’ coming out to lead Zed. Those who have tried (Chirwa) have been suppressed, so to speak. If and when they come out, we will assess and then support them. My point is; from the devils we know and have, Sata is the ‘best’. If you have to eat a frog, it has to be the juicest one….

  27. #29: The point is that your thinking makes these people (incompetent, dictatorial types like Sata) believe that they should rule and we give them to rope to even hang and suppress upcoming leaders (like the Chirwa you mention, who are seen as threats). If all of us would refuse to accept mediocrity, it would be ridiculous for most of the current crop to even contemplate ruling. But we fall for comdedy and mistake it for charisma in picking our leaders. Just what did these oldies do in the past that we can’t let them know that they are retirement material?

  28. #21: Prof Mavu Ambunda B.Acc(CBU), M.Acc, PhD(Harvard), FCCA, FCMA, CPA(USA): Where did this village mentality of showing off non-existent credentials come from? I know you are not the only one to do this but I have singled you out as the nearest to catch my eye! Let’s argue with points, logic. People who earn their qualifications neither have the time to be on every blog (as you seem to be) nor show off their qualifications (as you are trying to do). Give us real research about economic issues about Zambia (if you are a phd and professional accountant), not just lengthy titles and largely useless incoherent arguments. That’s why you will always be ruled by Sata (lol)!!!!

  29. Wow, seems people really have short memories. When was the last time MMD had a true convention? Mwanawasa was hand picked. The MMD constitution calls for a Vice President of the party. Mwanawasa tells everyone in MMD to shut up or get out about VP position. No one cried like you guys are about PF holding a convention. Convention requires a lot of resources. Mwanawasa told his friend in Malawi to deport Sata when he was going to meet his Taiwanese friends for funds. So, where is the money to hold these conventions gonna come from? MMD the last time it held conventions, the Zambian gov funds were used. If you want PF to hold such functions, chip in guys, financially not words only.

  30. You dumb and stupid people following Satan, do you know what you’re putting your country into? do you think this Satan can keep our country’s inflation rate bellow 10%? do you think this satan even know what’s inflation rate? do you think satan even know how to use a computer? do you think this satan knows what ‘IT’ stands for? does he know what a condom is used for? he?

  31. Zulu #83. What are you drinking? Uleke fwaka yampanga. We are wondering who is stupid. But according to your post, we know who is.

  32. Only shallow minded ethnic shuvanists follow Sata. How can such a shallow man lead a decent country? He will never have a convention because he is not a democrat. The day Sata becomes President of Zambia in the day I will assume the nationality of the country where I presently reside. Can’t these tribalists find a better leader among themselves. At least they can offer us something better.

  33. Cheese nayo ilakola ngawalya over. Sata was voted in Lusaka, Copperbelt and Luapula. I did not know that these three provinces are Bembalands. The CB and Lusaka are most cosmopolitan areas of Zambia. PF controls a lot of councils Zambia. Do you know what that means? More grassroot leadership. What nonsense do you know about politics and how one becomes a leader? Akulya fye cheese iwe. I am from Luapula, I am not Bemba and will never be Bemba at least in this life time. Probably next if there’s more. Only a full thinks that to have a convention you must be a democrat. Probably you meant democratic.

  34. The truth Ladies and Gentlemen, (Professors, Doctors, fake doctors and the like) is that, the King cobra-Sata had his time- enough. He rose through the ranks, e.g. as ordinary police cop, to that of a minister without portfolio. Those were his days…what we need now is to see what can be done by the generation of new leaders. I vehemently support the likes of Prof. Chirwa, HH, etc. Let the new crop come up with serious strategic plans to reconstruct Zed. The country is a sorrow sight…Sata, Sondashi, & the other tired lions may not see that. They see things the way they saw them in pre-colonial Zed. To them, everything is OK. Let’s be progressive.

  35. Imagine BAT (British American Tobacco) sold 841 million sticks. Half of them were consumed by Satan and Lubinda. what a party of chain smokers!

  36. Imagine BAT (British American Tobacco) sold 841 million sticks LAST YEAR. Half of them were consumed by Satan and Lubinda. what a party of chain smokers!

  37. People lets be serious about our political issues in Z. People like #36Kalos2020 nee a brain scan. How the hell in this world would you think of supporting Sata at any cost. They say charity begins at home, no convention for 8years ‘MY FOOT’in a small party what more when he becomes a President. Please dont expose you foolishness with your Satanistic thinking, give us a break with old fools we need progression in Z.

  38. One look in Sata’s face would tell you something is clearly not ok in that head of Zondwe. The man was prunned from Northern Rhodesia riffles for stealing which was later attributed to mental instability. No wonder he namesd his party after Mugabe’s PF and today, Mugabe is on the ropes and trying to steal an election by slow motion while the whole world is watching, foolish. Besides, Sata’s friend Chen Shubian is no longer president of Taiwan and Mugabe’s PF if out of power, Sata is clearly in limbo! Maybe he can become president of the Northern, Luapula and Mbeya Provinces. Ifye awe twakanya ukutekwa na Kaponya thugggie

  39. I totally agree with those enlightened zedians who are against sata as being a president of zambia. Please friends lets look for credible pipo to take this country forward. Not too long ago when sata was invited to give a speech at havard university, even though his trip was paid for, he lied to the Taiwan government that he was not given money for his air ticket. This is stealing, and yet someone wants to lead zed. The man will be worse than chiluba. People with long hands should never again be allowed to rule our country. That about the funeral money etc? The man survives on lies.

  40. PF will hold a conversion period. PF is for SATAN so that when he becomes president he rules it like CHAWAMA.Lets have pipo lik PROF CHILWA and HH in the same govt CAN some one speak to these guys. VIVA ZAMBIA

  41. We can talk, blog as much as we want but unless we go back to Zed, form a political party and win the elections, these old folks will continue ruling the country. I am not conversant with the constitutions of the political parties in Zambia but I believe one has to hold a party position at any level before he can aspire for the presidency. One also needs to have been a party member for a certain period of time. All you chaps out there, the like of Prof Mutengo Waminga (jerk) do not meet both these requirements. The potential leaders residing in Zambia either fear to come out or are suppressed when the do so….

  42. I am in the US. Believe you me, the way things are going, Sata will be your President. Whether I support him or not, is not the issue. Whether he chain smokes or not, is not the issue. When Sata lays a foundation for his party, he knew what he was doing. You novices who use their emotions to debate will always respond with your hearts forgetting that you are just creating heart problems and blood pressure for yourselves. If you have to do some brain scan, start with all those people in Zambia who will vote for Sata. Oh, by the way how about brain transplant for Levy. Did you see his picture on this same website. Do you guys who support him dress like that, seems like.

  43. State house and thieves are not compatible anymore. Enough is enough. Let people with national interests rule the country. Not thieves. The Conbra supported the Puffadder from Luapula to rule for the third term so that they can still tax payers money together to buy expensive suits and shoes. Shame on you. Whom can you deceive to vote you in power with long fingers and sticky tongue like a camelione? Go HH go. No more thieves at plot 1. Only HH.

  44. Gentlemen the skills and attributes needed to manage a country these days are far beyond Micheal Sata. That is why countries all over the world are sending economists and business administrators as ambassadors as opposed to cadres, political lumpens and empty military officers. The focus is more on economic management of countries than mere political zealotness.
Countries the world over are now ushering in progressive young leaders(USA AND Russia)equipped to attend to modern challenges as opposed to political dreggs like Sata with nothighing to offer but foul langauge and rumour mongering.

    Sata’s time is way past.
