Lands probe completed

Share

Investigations into alleged corrupt practices at the Ministry of Lands have been completed and a report submitted to the Zambian Government.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Acting Director General, Rosewin Wandi said a number of recommendations were made with regard to land allocation.

Mrs. Wandi said the major focus of the enquiry were Makeni, Mass Media, Chamba Valley and Chinika Industrial areas all in the capital, Lusaka.

She told a media briefing Friday that cases involving some senior officials at the Ministry of Lands were concluded and are before the courts of law.

The probes into alleged corrupt practices at the Ministry of Lands follow President Levy Mwanawasa’S revelation that the Ministry was the most corrupt.

  4. Northerns are thiefs that causes tribalism, they should also be reported to animal rights group for eating monkeys!.

  5. If we were to be serious, only a few people would remain in employment at the Ministry of Lands. But then again it`s Africa. Anything goes! Yalilila bakaamba!

  6. They fired Sopani Nyirenda the chap was driving a Mercedes and had a fleet of buses. I hope things have now improved. They should also visit the licensing branch and ZR.

  9. Our country can be joke sometimes. I bought a plot of land in Ndola about 5 years ago. When the builders turned up to start the foundation, they found another man claiming ownership of the same plot. No wonder we’re one of the poorest nations on earth yet one of the richest in resources. Sadly this nchekelako business is also widely practised by men and women who claim to be religious and have fear of god. Tribalism as is witnessed even on this site doesn’t help either.

    We’re just one big joke!

It is an astonishing kind of hereditary stupidity that sees Katangese stinkers on both sides of the Luapula river welded to the habit of electing proven thieves into office all the time. Look at Chiluba, Katumbi etc and now Katele Kalumba will be voted for in large numbers by these tailed low life premates of the Ituri forest we have the tragedy of being called neighbours and fellow countrymen to.MANY THANKS SANAKUWA…

  11. It’s hi time the land tribunal is extended to kitwe coz thats where there are alot of corrupt officials including the TC,where you are sold a plot along the hi way today and tomorrow the same council officials come to demolish your house that it too near the high way. There guys are so sophisticated that you cannot suspect any thing sinister from them that they even produce council meeting to woodwink you that the said plots were debated and approved in the council meetings. My friend some years back was sold a plot where the utility pipes have passed and he started construction only to find sewer&water pipes undernearth.

  12. I tend to think that #1 is right though he may not have succinctly expressed his ideas and thoughts. #3 Wanzelu seems to give an impression that #1 is wrong to support the indictment of corrupt officials at the Ministry of Lands. Corruption is a major culprit in Zambia’s economic backwardness and it is repugnant to see people like #1 who parade their corrupt tendencies by overtly condemning #1. Zambia is part of Africa but I care and would like to see a scenario where every Zambian is able to view the vice with disdain. We need to nurture a just society free from corruption. This said, I commend the work of the ACC in bringing the thieves to justice.

  13. #13 well supported in your comment.Obviously we can do better as a nation if we removed corruption from our offices but we should start from the top.Lets look at the composition of our parliament- there a lot of rotten eggs there but as stupid as we are, we voted for them and will still do so. I have head some people hinting Katele Kalumba as LPM’s successor is he not the juju man who hid in a small shrub running away from corruption charges? Then look at the churches- last week there was an exposure of corruption in churches. This mirrors the nation we live in.LPM tried to fight corruption and because of that he is earning himself hatred from some quarters. What can we do?Where to from here???

  14. theft is allover the world and yet we zambians are here insulting each other. why? aba tonga are thieves, aba bemba are thieves, surely that will not solve our problems or unite us in any way. na hichilema ali wisha mine aliko boss and now he has 23 billion….i wonder where from. naka chiluba kaliba kala kana nokulanda how much he has. but all this is pointless, now it is way forward. how to unite each other and not point fingers that can cause even an upset in our way of life. if you say northerners are thiefs…do yo think they all like to be called thieves and what will there response be to such an accusation, alas theft is allover the country continent and world but you decide to pick one

  15. group and in this case your own fellow zambians, groups of people you of all must embrace as your brothers and when they go wrong you tell but ofcourse in a more diplomatic and loving way. even as the bible says, first clean your own eye. i believe northerners, easterners, westerners, southerners and the central groups of zambia have all come together to bring about what zambia is today….so if there is wrong we have all contributed and if it is good we have all contributed in one way or the other.

  16. Lelo.

All those to be mentioned in the report should be sent to Hague and meet Ocampo. I will help with transport
