Zambia needs a highly innovative and qualified cadre-Magande

Share

Zambia needs a cadre of highly innovative, qualified and self motivated individuals to propel the country in achieving its vision of becoming a middle income nation by the year 2030.

Finance and National Planning minister Ng’andu Magande told scores of youths attending the Teenagers and Youths Conference at Mulungushi International Conference centre in Lusaka today that unless they play their roles correctly, the country will not attain the vision 2030.

Mr Magande urged the youths to play their individual roles well and to have personal integrity if they are to meaningfully contribute to the achievement of the country’s intended goals.

The minister explained that the Vision 2030 reflects the collective destiny of the people of Zambia to be a prosperous middle income country.

He advised the youths to have a positive attitude and inspiration to turn Zambia into a developed country.

At the same function, Head of the European Delegation, Derrick Fee said young people should believe in themselves as they face the challenges of life.

Conference Convener Chibamba Kanyama said the conference is meant to create a future for young people and that of the nation.

And renowned motivational speaker Felix Banda urged the youths to be courageous, disciplined and passionate about what they want to achieve in life.

In her vote of thanks, Chiluba Chimwemwe urged fellow youths to use the knowledge they will learn from the conference to better their lives.

  1. EISH Integrity?? u guyz want a salary increment wat integrity is that and u telling us to have integrity? Ouch that hurts me besides u guyz shuld have an inspiring act 4 once maybe the youths will change otherwise man aahaha i see no value in that speech its meaningless to me.middle income by 2030 no man make that 2130 to realistic with this pace

  2. Well done Chibamba, Zambian need selfless individual to help them realise their dreams. All great men of old had a dream. From M Luther King jr of USA, to N Mandela of RSA. I urge every youth not to loose focus of their dreams.

  4. Cont: but it couldnt materialise owing to LPM’s sickness. He whats to wrk wit HH bcoz he knows tht HH has the winning ticket

  5. Cont: but it couldnt materialise owing to LPM’s sickness. He whats to wrk wit HH bcoz he knows tht HH has the winning ticket

  6. Magande is Republican Presido come 2011. He is the only clean guy in the whole MMD pack. You will remember my words chaps.

  7. A highly innovative and qualified cadre needs funding you stupid frog. The same money you are allocating to your salary pecks is the same one supposed to be spent on education to realise this dream. Now we know you know, no excuse for destroying the future of this country otherwise once you are out of power we’ll see you in court.

  8. The whole bunch of youths i guess was just busy clapping speaker after speaker after speaker without understanding what they were saying.

  9. Well, friends let us reflect on what Magande said.He is trying to say that we are the future leaders. This is the time to prepare ourselves. As we can see,We lack good leaders.I believe that we can make a difference.

I have already started preparing myself because I want to make a change as soon as possible.

  10. Magade isnt Presidential material, the man is nt salable in both in MMD and nation at large.MMD is prepairing its exit frm pwr hence cabinets salary increament.Opposition stands a chance this time around bt the que.is which opposition Party is ready 2 govern?

  11. From the information reaching me from close sources to LPM’s family, its certain tht LPM is not coming back to lead. What are we doing as a nation to avoid leadership vacuum?

  12. #18,i agree with u straight up,magande isnt presdo material he may have the bucks and maybe good at following the financial ethics but leading zambia is another thing.yes he magande is very right to say we the youths should start believing in oureslf’s and forcus on our goals.i believe zambia can be a force to recorn with if the youths were given chance to rule this country.come 2011 let us give chance to the youths spear head this nation to greater hights.

  13. Magade really knows his job and I like his style. He might not be a politician but he looks like he can carry on after 2011 aS President

  14. True but youths need alot of support from govt if they have to propel the future Zambia into middle income nation by that time. Currently youths have a raw deal in the country as education institution remain poorly funded coz they are the source of future leaders. So plse magande as finance minister ensure that education provision is in line with MDG if youths should have self confidence. Thanks Chibamba for your spirited effort. Wadada still!!!!

  15. YES MAGANDE YOU RIGHT, ON THE OTHER HAND YOU AND FRIENDS SHOULD NOT COUNT YOURSELVES AMONG THOSE LEADERS YOU HAVE MENTIONED.. YES YOU VERY INOVATIVE IN ROBBING AND STEALING FROM PEOPLE ” MWABIKAPO NO BU KAKASHI” YOU ARE JUST A BUNCH OF WITCHES AND WIZARDS.

YOU ARE A PEOPLE OF LOW THINKING CAPACITY TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF POOR ZAMBIANS. SELFISH MAGANDE ………..SELFISH MAGANDE ………SELFISH MAGANDE …..SELFISH MAGANDE ……………….SELFISH MAGANDE ……………………SELFISH MAGANDE …….

  16. The only thing you are doing for these poor kids is debate whether givin em condoms so they go F*** each other in the nearest bush near their schools is worth it and next weekend you bring em together for a “convention” half stoned on Nikolai and motivate em on good future blah blah……..cadreship?

  17. True! Zambia needs high calibre individuals but that does not happen by chance. We need to invest in the young people now.

  18. Magande is not presidential material because he rigged his Chilanga MP sit and he is still in court defending his fraud. When we change govt, he will be going to court.

  19. This thread is about producing innovative and qualified youth for Zambia’s future. Please let’s debate on ways to achieve that goal, not judging who is presidential material or not.

  20. All the Leaders in MMD are selfish who think that their Certificates or degrees made them to be in Parliament.imwe ba MMD it is poor zambian people who give you jobs.

  21. #32 You are right thats the reason why they have run away from there constituencies and group them selves in lusaka.

  22. I watched ka chibamba kanyama smiling with a triumphant laugh as if he has laid the most beautiful girl. The thing is even if you hold these workshops who is going to loan the poor kids the kind of money to live the illusionary dreams they are being told. The whole thing is just an ego enhancing stunt.

  23. we will give you more credit Magande if you oppose the proposed salary increment in the house. if you do that we the electorate will not forget you. do yourself justice by standing out amongst them. Be clean.

  24. Zambia needs a cadre of highly innovative, qualified and self motivated individual= Given Lubinda under the PF manifesto..MMD has done it part since 1991..its time for a change..zambia needs a new direction..we can be where we are if UNIP was still in government..it goes same with MMD, we need a new party and new ideas

  25. I wonder whether the word’cadre’ is progressive in this context.
The Zambian Political context assumes the ‘cadre’ is a brainless, easy to manipulate faggot who is quick to do the bidding of his master the Politicain.

Now, an eduacted ‘cadre’ trully is difficult to comprehend in the midst of this saturation of Politics.

Perhaps an ‘educated cadre’ implies instead of the usual kaponya unaldulterated, we have a kaponya with some semblence of education. But this in itself is a contradiction.

For how do they require a cadre who is able to reason, articulate and have independent opinions. At least, for me, I ..

  26. As the picture shows on the Post website, PF is a gov’t in waiting and the crowds in Lusaka and across the country are waiting to vote for Sata as President of the republic of Zambia. It is good that Sata and HH can come together to work for the common good of the nation. I think from the post picture, it can be seen that HH can seen the power of Sata first hand and it will be a waste of time trying to run against Sata.

  27. #46. You observed correctly. Sata is Zambia’s next president. For the first time in my half a century years on this our earth, I saw siChiluya live on Cairo one cold afternoon. The man looked healthier and even tempered than the empty suit the media has painted him for years.

  28. Mark Chona said “Zambians won’t allow thieves to rule”. Is he the same person who at one time settled in Australia? If he is what made him run away from investing in Zambia? Is he himself clean?

  29. Its time youths are given chance to run the affairs of the nation and those who were once in cabinet should be left for consultancy in case the youths go wrong somewhere. Its no good to come back to forum where you have proved a failure while in influencial positions. It does not mean that you can bring development only when you are President. As once a Minister, you already an influencial position so give chance to youths.

  30. I think it is in HH’s best political interest to work with Sata especially at public rallies because this will increase hi popularity with the common man, the actual voters on the ground. When the people see him with Sata, the will know him and by 2011 he will be the most popular politician after Sata. HH should help Sata form gov’t and the should have a colision gov’t up until 2011. After 2011 Sata will be too old to continue as President of Zambia. This will then leave HH as the only popular and credible leader to take over from Sata. It is a good political strategy. This will also reduce or remove the Tonga / Bemba rivary which is not needed. United is always the answer.

  31. Mr. Magande,

Where would you get the highly innovative and qualified cadre when your government is completely blind to the need for increased spending in education and health? These type of people do not grow off trees or off mushrooms! There is need for you to be realistic and do the right thing when responsibility calls. Spending peanuts on education will only deliver monkeys to your pool of such people that you need to spearhead development in Zambia.

  32. Cont’d from #50

Between UPND (HH) and PF (Sata), they can take on MMD and win elections if they are held within the next 100 days. UPND has a good following in Southern, Some parts of Western Province, and a firm grip on North Western while PF pretty much covers the rest of the country. This means that between the two political parties, MMD’s time in gov’t can be brought to an end. We need to change gov’t so that only those with the best interest of the nation should lead us. MMD’s time is over, the in-fighting will only get worse and by the time elections come, no one in MMD will be brave enough to stand against a SATA-HH collaboration. One Zambia One Nation!!

  33. #53 be realistic. with all due respect, dreaming of lpm coming back as presido is far fetched. even if he does recover, will it be in his best interest to continue considering the nature of the job. its sad when you warp your minds to think there’s only one man for the job.Lets move forward

  34. #54, well said. LPM is a good man and his second term was quite productive. Most would have wanted him to come back walking and ready to pick up from where he left…..but life being what it is, the reality is that he won’t be the same man that left for Egypt when he comes back. At best, he will retire to his Teka Farms and at worst….well lets not think about that now. Anyway, we have to move forward, its only people like #53 and Mpombo who do not want to face reality. Mpombo knows that no LPM = no job, no money, no food. Hence he wants to make as much as possible before the envitable happens.

  35. Magande cant be MMD presdo becoz he is a foreign in MMD like RB, he was poached from UPND like RB was poached from UNIP.

  36. The only problem we have in zambia is that, our politicians are very selfish.each one want to be a presindent.ngatatucenjele fi MMD fyakulatekafye

  37. No 52 it is not true to want to make people believe that PF covers much of the country. Check your facts properly.Remember that having pockets of support in CB,Lk Northern and Luapula is not covering the nation. Zambia is made from all the nine provinces. PF is virtually absent in North Western, Southern, Western, Eastern and Central Provinces in terms of parliamentary representation.I would have believed you if you said MMD covers much of the country because that is what is obtaining currently.

  38. Mimi, there is powerful teaming up between Sata and HH. These two are going to play their cards well in 2011. Sata needs HH, and HH needs Sata now because there is total confussion in MMD. The only thing HH needs to do is to move alongside Sata, and this partnership will work wonders for this country.

At the Lusaka rally, the two were addressing the masses on the same platform, even complementing each other.. Ba MMD balimucibe nomba.

  39. Zam-citizen, thanks for the information. It is good to note that our politicians can get together for the good of our country. If they share common concerns on an issue, it is good that they unite. After all we are one people and all we want is to better ourselves and to secure our children’s future. Abash tribal divisions and viva togetherness for our common good.

  40. HH needs Sata more. HH should stick to Sata so as to mature in African politics and after 1 and half term, HH will take over from the old man. Under Sata, Zambia will change for the beter within 90 days. These miner owners will be forced to plough back into communities they are mining ore from. One Zambia,One nation. Sata is very wise indeed. Let the young man HH learns politics from the old folk. Viva Sata!! viva HH!!

  41. #64, I would rather you saw the maturity in HH just by choosing to share a platform with his rival Sata. It is not a matter of who needs who the most because I think as things are basing on last election results, HH is stronger than Sata in terms of wider representation. There are not many people who would want to stand with Sata but because HH puts national interest ahead of personal issues, he did what he did. I salute him for that. Old man Sata has done his part for the country in the various capacities he saved. I would rather have a youth to lead us. Viva Sata exit, Long-live HH.

  42. This is nothing but an evil alliance of two crooked characters oozing tribal bigotry from all manner of poles. What this country needs is men of honour like Fred M’Membe, Roger Chongwe, Gen. Ben Mibenge, Christon Tembo etc to rule. Sata and HH will only lead this country to the gates of hell and I for one would not want to arrive there again after the experience we had with that diminutive Katangese bushmonkey called Chiluba.

  43. HH should wake up. If he is not careful, he will be Sata’s horse. He did the same to ULP. After getting what he wanted, he ditched ULP like a piece of …it.

  44. #66. The names you propose do not have any base to launch their bid from. According to our constitution, anybody aspiring for public office should belong to a political party. Fred M’membe’s rightful place is in the press to provide a voice for the voiceless; Roger Chongwe is not active in politics; Gen. Mibenge is not young anymore as exhibited by his inactivity in UNIP. Lastly Gen Christon Tembo publicly retired from FDD after handing over power to Edith. So since none of them have an interest in politics anymore, please suggest other names.

  45. This Sipopa sounds bitter. Chill my dear this is only politics. If you do not want to sink with Zambia, you are free to jump to Zimbabwe. And you really hate HH, why? Hate the game not the player, God will hold you accountable.

  46. Magande, we know you mean your word. You’ve always shown a sound and visionally mind. Thanx for all your contributions to this nation.the only problem with many of us is that we cannot see the dollar when hidden in a book even if the book is on the table unless the dollar is hidden under a loaf of bread. like many others, your contributions to this country are really and not politically motivated.
