Church urged to counsel losing Presidential candidates

Share

Ruling MMD Chisamba Member of Parliament Moses Muteteka has urged the church to counsel losing presidential candidates to reduce growing tension in the country.

Mr Muteteka said the losing candidates should allow the newly elected Republican President Rupiah Banda to carry on with developmental projects initiated by late President Levy Mwanawasa’s administration.

He told ZANIS in Lusaka Saturday that the losers should also desist from deliberately creating tension in the country adding that peace is paramount for government to foster development.

Mr. Muteteka further urged politicians to desist from using youths in perpetuating post election violence which has the potential of fuelling tension in the country.

And the MMD Chisamba MP has commended people in Chisamba constituency for giving the ruling party a massive vote in the October 30th presidential polls.

He has since assured the people of Chisamba of continued development in the area in line with government’s development for the country.

Various stakeholders have continued to call for peace in the wake of minor protests characterized by some suspected opposition Patriotic Front (PF) youth cadres stripping in public.

And two Lusaka based clergymen have the condemned various acts of post-election violence by alleged suspected opposition Patriotic Front (PF) cadres in Lusaka.

Bishop Bwanali Phiri of World Baptist Evangelist Association (WBEA) described the behavior by the cadres as reported in some sections of the media as embarrassing and unfortunate.

Bishop Phiri told ZANIS in Lusaka Saturday that there was need for all citizens to unite and support the newly elected President Rupiah Banda and his administration for the development of the country.

He said it was sad that some youths were allegedly being paid to undress protest the October 30th polls’ results won by MMD’s presidential candidate Rupiah Banda.

And Bishop Ebbystya Katongo of The Jesus Church has urged political party leaders and members to desist from assassinating each other’s characters.

Bishop Katongo said poltical parties and other stakeholders should instead unite and preach peaceful messages in order to uphold Zambia as a Christian nation.

The two clergymen have since joined several other organisations in the country to congratulating President Rupiah Banda on his election as the fourth republican president after the demise of late President Levy Mwanawasa who died on August 19 at Percy Millitary Hospital in Paris France.

  1. Why say “urge the church to counsel loosing presidential candidates” when you know it’s only one candidate who needs counselling? HH and Brig. Gen. Have already put the defeats behind them and have indicated their willingness to work with the government

  2. Congratulations #1, next time it will be me.

Ba Muteteka nabo, bushe counseling na yena bala patikisha? The post erection frustration will eventually fade away and slump back to it’s original state of dormancy.

  3. What about Dan Pule? His issue was hot until it was disrupted by LPMs illness and death. Can you first sort out Dan Pule who is your fellow pastor.

  4. It difficult to se MMd won elections how then can you councell your friend after stealing from him.Gentlemen lets wake and let not allow rural population decide our destiny. These pipo dont feel the effects as we feel them.

  5. Rigging did not exist in this election. God protected Mother Zambia forom this beast called SATA. The Dollar could have been sky rocketing high this time around alreay had SATA managed to win these elections. Which invetsor would risk their investment in country pending volcano eruption? SATA=Zambia’s IDI AMIN – PERIOD.

  6. Rigging did not exist in this election. God protected Mother Zambia from this beast called SATA. The Dollar could have reached record high this time alredy had SATA managed to win these elections. Which investor would risk their investment in a country pending a volcano eruption? SATA = ZAMBIA’ IDI AMIN’ – PERIOD

  7. Indeed Counselling is urgent.Every life matters.Sata has a clogged heart past over due for review in SA where replacement of a pacesetter separating his heart arteries is due.His Diaphram too is getting weaker and weaker again. He is experiencing serious respiratory challenge,Prologed anger, emotions and mourning of election defeat long forgotten by Zambians are but very dangerous. His behavior of insulting all founding fathers, heads of states,Ministers, ZAmbian voters and Diplomats at the cathedral is not from his normal self.If one is not eble to handle defeat with dignity, rhen should introspect.

  8. #13 Pragmatist. What do you mean by “…pacesetter separating his heart arteries…” Do you know what a Pacesetter is and what it does?

  9. “We need similar ideologies. Patriotic Front (PF) President Michael Sata says political parties should only merge if they hold similar political ideologies. Mr. Sata says there is no need for political parties that do not have a similar agenda to come together. He was responding to a question on the need for the opposition parties to merge in a bid to oust the ruling MMD from government. This was during a press briefing in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, Friday. Mr. Sata questioned the credibility of the Zambian electoral system under the current legislation. He also reiterated his party’s plans to petition President Rupiah Banda’s election.” Source: w w w . z n b c . c o . z m. Why ask UPND?

  10. Which one of you well thinking leaders in the political arena asked the church to tell you what people’s fears of having the elections rigged????? The church does not promote peace where people at each other’s throats are not willing to do the the five steps of (a) Forgiveness (b)Repentance(Metonior in Greek)—means accepting and aking forgiviness (c)Restitution”making it right”…Romans 8:1, Levi 5:6 Luke 19, Exodus 22:4..you know accept to have rigged and say lets vote (d)Reconciliation–not with Sata alone but the Zambian people who have been betrayed (e)Restoration(Katatizo in Greek)—-then the Zambian people will restore the peace and respect they had for the leaders…

  11. Honestly guys you really wanted Sata to rule Zambia? Puh-lease give as a break. He lost due to divine intervention.Thank u Lord. Now stop mourning and help build Zambia. Next time be wise like the Americans and vote for candidates like HH.

  14. THERE SHALL BE A NATIONAL MOURNING ON TUESDAY, THE TITANIC BOAT CUPSIZED WITH MORE THAN 683,000 FEARED DEAD, BUT THE DEATH TOLL MAY RISE. IT HIT INTO TWO BIG ROCKS UNDERWATER CALLED MMD AND UPND. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE TO FRIENDS OR RELATIVES JUST IN CASE THEY ARE MISSING SOMEONE.
POLICE STILL INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT BUT SOME WELL PLACED SOURCES FROM SOME OF THE SURVIVORS CLAIM THE CAPTAIN WAS TOO OLD TO CONTROL THE SHIP. INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE!!
    (source – anonymous)

  15. Letest investigations aslo revealed that the old captain was following the becon M’membe and the post but ahead of the them. Not knowing how deep the MMD ice peg was. B4 the realized the boat hit into it and sunk very quickly. To make matters worse the savivors instead of asking for SOS in shouting help they shouted rigging, rigging…the death toll is raizing one woman was found naked, left clothes in the bwato, in the middle of the road was arrested another was fighting with chilubas security calling him a pirate. These pipo need help.

  16. Its good that rural pipo have power to decide the leader of Zambia. Not bakaponyas. I salute all the villagers that is the spirit. It shows no one can cheat you Like town dwellers. In town we vote for anything that makes jokes, lies, etc. Imagine Sata in power with a party where he is the constitution. Wake up town dwellers.

  17. Thats nonsense for muteteka to ask pastors talk to losing candidates because these same pastors are highly corrupt by politicians. They ve turned church offering & incomes into personal investments not paying tax & no accountability. We see banks showing how much was invested & whats next to be done.Mind u zambians are now highly educated & politician are a millimetre to be caught into their campaign lies mark my statement.

  18. Please Sata just retire and leave us alone. You are not president material but kaponyazident – we dont want you. You have no bearing of a president, you look like the mad man you are. You have been involved in three incidents in the past couple of weeks which show you are not able to control your emotions. What would you be like if you were in power now? Because of your big mouth you have no friends either in Zambia or abroad. You deliberately tell people what they want to hear as a way of getting into State House knowing full well that you will not be able to fulfil any of the problems you make in short you are simply manipulating the people you purpot to care about for your own ends.

  19. If USA was in Africa , papers would read something like:

Don’t celebrate yet, McCain tells Obama
    Concede defeat, Obama urges McCain
    20 opposition cadres riot
    McCain Demands Vote Recount
    Elections rigged
    No evidence of manipulation
The Church declares elections free and fair
There will be violence if we lose, McCain declares
    Election results for Arizona awaited
Trucks with suspected ballot papers crosses into USA from Mexico
McCain is an opportunist – Go back to your farm
I will not accept results, McCain tells Obama(copyright)

  20. Bushe muleti Sata balimwibila ama votes ninshi balya ama representatives bakwe balikwi. Sata just lost the elections, he should accept the defeat than start cheating. Sata should change his language and behaviour if he want to be president. We are all Zambaians and the position for president is only one. I have seen Sata is not fit to be president. A person who aspiring to be president then start beating whom he want to rule, that is a sign of dictatorship. Zambians we should not give Sata chance to be president, he has no heart for this country, we have to live in loving peace to each Zambian as Zambians.

  21. The problem of rigging will never end until Sata, VJ and Kapufi sit down together and agree to denounce those bad old ways of conducting elections. Instead of PF attacking and accusing VJ and Kafupi of vote rigging (leaving out Nyama Soya who is enjoying the fruits alone), let Sata admit that he created a cancer (vote rigging) which is now eating him too; he did not know that one day he will be at the receiving end of the stick. PF cadres are innocent, they are just following orders blindly.

  22. I can see from your arguments that there are people who are trying to justify RB’s win,if he geniully won then he is at peace with himself, if not his consciencous will be at him, if ever he has one.Look gentlemen when LPM heard that Sata was dying he lashed in so that this man could not die and denie him forgiveness, which he luckly and graciously managed to get.The question is will RB be able to get that precious commodity? Will wait and see…….

    God bless Zambia
    I thank you

  23. #18 African Queen na #12 my dear Cutey, if Sata was as diabolic as you potray him, then why did the majority of educated Zambian people vote for him? It is dangerous to ignore the facts. MMD’s downfall was only preluded by a few thousands of manipulated and corrupted villagers, who don’t even represent the core of rural Zambia. Don’t forget that an educated person votes with conviction while an illiterate one votes with naivety. 2011 will be a different sequel….wait and see.

  24. Can the church stop waisting God’s time praying for loosers because the main problem we are facing is RIGGERS. God is extermely busy and has no time to listern to senseless prayers. Can they not forget to also pray for the dead/dying poverty stricken children in Choma!

  25. Please lets admit Sata just lost the elections. He knows himself. There was no rigging at all.In this game there is loosing and winning. If Sata knew there was rigging ,he wouldn’t have stood. It hurts yes,but counseling him is a must.Lusaka and copperbelt is only a fraction, less than half ,of the population. So when you are near the media you think you are popular,No.. MMD is smart enough and knows this. Bakaponya don’t.Its slogans and insult and undressing

  26. Sata just lost the elections, there was no rigging. In fact, i think these elections were the best Zambia has ever had, it was very difficult to rig them. Sata was getting zero votes in most of the rural constituencies which are MMD strongholds & yet MMD was always in second position in PF’s strongholds. How you expect PF to win in this situation? None of us the rural Zambians will ever vote for Sata – we will always remain a big determinant factor in the provision of a Zambian president even if you guys look down on us.

  27. # 35,ITS SAD THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE WHO ARE ILL-INFORMED ABOUT THE CURRENT DIFFICULTIES US WHO ACTUALLY SEND MONEY FOR YOU TO BUY FERTILISER AND M/MEAL ARE GOING THROUGH .WITH LITTLE MONEY WE GET,WE ARE SENDING YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL,BUY YOU CHEAP CHITENGE AND SOFIA FROM CHINA AND GET YOU FOOD. AND NOW BECAUSE YOU ARE FULL YOU CAN INSULT US.SHUT YOUR BIG MOUTH PLEASE.
