African National Congress (ANC) leader Jacob Zuma says his
invitation to grace this year’s N’wala ceremony showed President Banda’s efforts towards uniting Africa.

He said it was the duty of all African leaders to ensure Africa was united.

Mr. Zuma who also paid glowing tribute to First president Kenneth Kaunda noted that like Dr. Kaunda, Mr. Banda was also concerned about Africa’s unity.

He said Mr. Banda is following in Dr. Kaunda’s footsteps by seeking to connect the Zulu Kingdom of South Africa and the Ngoni’s of Eastern Province.

The ANC leader said the SADC region will have more meaningful development if people at the grass roots interacted and co-exist.

He later spoke in Zulu language which the Ngoni interpreter had difficult to interpret.

President Banda later took over the microphone and successfully interpreted Zulu into Ngoni amid cheers from the crowd.

Mr. Zuma also presented two blankets made of cow’s skin to Paramount Chief Mpenzeni and President Banda.

    • Amabele iyee shani? Filelelo fya bana. Did you take your milk as a baby from a feeding bottle from birth? You may then be shocked at the natural Ngoni woman’s site.

  1. So RB can speak Zulu? nice…it became handy neh……Yes follow Kaunda’s footsteps in uniting and helping africa and give away all the little resources that Zambia has……….. Aiiiiiiii?

  2. “Conman, Sex freek, court perpetual appearee & soon to be convicted Zuma hails NyamaSoya” should have been a valid and excellent title.

    • I can see you real hate Banda. Sorry, he won the election and you and Mmenbe better go and learn how to campaign otherwise we will get Banda through in 2011. You might then angry enough to hang yourself. Don’t just hate people nd insult foreign visitors because of him. Get a life!!

    • MY MOTHER IS A ZULU FRON NATAL, DAD ZAMBIAN. I KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. THOSE CASES ZUMA HAS ARE WELL DOCUMENTED & REAL. PUBLIC FIGURES MUST BE SCRUTINIZED FULL STOP. WE SHOULD NOT HERO WORSHIP PUBLIC FIGURES THATS WHY WE ENDED WITH FTJ & NYAMASOYA. IN ANYCASE HE LOST IN ALL AFFLUENT PROVINCES, WERE PEOPLE MORE EDUCATED & INFORMED. HE ONLY WON MOSTLY IN VILLAGES THROUGH CORRUPTION SUGAR DISTRIBUTION & THREATS. TETA & MIKE NOW ASHAMED, STOPPED TALKING NOR SUPPORTING HIM OF LATE. WAIT.

  3. that half dressed woman beside RB doesnt know Zuma’s sex history, she should ve asked or is it what she was asking for?

  4. I think Zuma is right, RB is working hard on uniting africa, just look at the number of countries he has already been to.

    • Changu, You are right. RB is really uniting AFRICA in his dreams because he is garavanting to go and nap in Foreign Countries at the expense of finding solutions to Predicaments facing Zambia. Already Another mine Albidon Zambia Ltd. Closing this week sending hundred of people on to the streets to join those cleared / retrenched by KCM, MOPANI, Chambeshi & Luanshya Mine

    • Japan’s industrial output will drop by 10% this year. Zambia will grow by 4.5% this year. What do you want Banda to do.

  5. He was Minister of Foreign affairs……..and Zuma probably picked the easy words when he saw RB take up the mic to interpret. Aren’t those two languages similar anyway??

  6. why is it that only chiefs in Eastern province invite foreign dignatories during their ceremonies, the other time it was The mazambiquean and malawian presidents with foreign chiefs and this time it was Zuma and some chiefs from Zimbabwe. Infact why do we have two paramount chiefs just in eastern province. I hope they will be no attempts in future to merge these people with those in foreign lands.

  7. Cousin Zuma, hearty welcome to Zambeziland. Too bad you missed the eclipse of the sun! Ngonis keep up your connections. We know the joy of celebrating with our Congolese and Angolan roots.

  8. What has RB really done that is “corrupt”? Is it not that Mumembe wants to bring the Zambian government so that Magande or Sata could sort out his financial problems. Please ask yourself what has RB stollen?

    • my brother zambia is used to people like chiluba who talk. look at the price of fuel, price of cement despite the fall in kwacha what more do you need.

    • if you were in the country now you would know what is going on kt, life now is not easy people are sleeping without a meal, all we want is RB to find solutions to the predicaments and not visiting other countries, on tax payers money, it hurts

    • please honour your leaders look the way they respect obama and brown what about these your own they are our leaders please respect them they are the will of God for now

    • We can respect them if they show decency themselves. They marry a toddler, whom he said has grown. After seeing what?? The way they also treat other pipo matters. That’s why African Leaders end up being assassinated (I dont support it) in this mordern age of democracy. Obams has respect for his political foes in America thats why he is also respected. here it is threats of dismissal followed by haranguing you from your party and following u into your constituence to finish you, no dialogue as that is seen as weakness by those in power.

    • Am sorry my friend,it is very difficult for me to respect these sex maniacs,respect is something that is earned.Honestly,look at these two leaders in question and scrutinize their past.Do they deserve any iota of respect from you?This is not about being african and not respecting our leaders,its only that the actions and behaviour of our leaders leave mush to be desired.I have no problems with according Mandela with all the respect he deserves.Look at MPEZENI,he is another total disgrace ,check today’s post.

  9. You have not seen yet how rich our Ngoni culture is.RB is just conveying the message of the Ngonis to their brothers and sisters in Kwazulu Natal. See how nice the Princess is anyone wanting to marry her. I will speak Zulu to convey your wish. Ngifuni inkomo!

  10. Yap…cheap politicking…Ngoni warriors..there are not even dressed in traditional gear.Zuma bears his…whenever he graces his home land.Look at him?like is at the G8 Summit.

  11. There was nothing wrong for RB to interpret in Zulu. I recall his recent CV during by elections Zulu, Shona and aramic(Ethiopia) plus local languages. There is no deal as such when Katumbi brought Mwata Yavwa to Mutomboko last year, it was nice to meet pipo who left the Lunda Kinngdom long time ago. You could really see that our Ngoni warriors looked real in their tradional attaire unlike their cousins from South Africa who looked more urbanized. Zuma;s speach was breif to the point. The man despite his personal scandals is grassroot man who understands what Africa is missing and what he and the likes can offer to Africa, he is man of action, when faced with danger he calls for Machine gun.

  12. This confirms things, Rupiah Banda is not a Zambian. When are we going to have a Zambian President?

    KK = Malawi
    Chiluba = Congo DR
    Mwanawasa = Mozambique
    Rupiah Banda = Malawi (born in Zimbabwe from South African parents)

  13. Last year Katumbi brought Mwata Yavwa to Mutomboko there is nothing wrong its all about discovering one’s original routes. We have calling for United States of Africa.

  14. Zuma and RB are ancestoral brothers. The attire by the woman is a natural/normal zulu ceremonial out fit.

    ‘Beofull’ women…

  15. So will Zuma be invited to grace another tradition ceremony apart from N`ncwala?Because there are Zulus in southAfrica and Ngonis in Zambia and so the unification of Africa.while!.May be a begining.I wonder if Mr Zuma on his other vists to Zambia will start by first visting the N`ncwala chief.If i were another chief i would ask Mr Banda if Mr Zuma or any other President would come and grace my ceremony so that africa can be unified further.The best place to have visted as Zambia is a diverse nation should have being the house of chiefs.Where many chiefs would be in attendant so as to here on how mr Zuma and Mr Banda plane to Unify Africa.By visting the Eastern Chief only and presenting him with gifts Mr Zuma has started a disunity of a nation and wonder if this path leads to unification.

  16. Having lived in Zambia for most of my life, isiZulu is more similar to the Southern Sotho spoken in Barotseland than the Nsenga present day Ngonis of Mpezeni speak.

  17. I actually heard Banda’s translation, most of what he said was dead wrong, pure guess work. Sad though that only Ngonis are inviting presidents while others are not allowed to do so. I mean, Luapulans can invite Mwata Yamvo & Litunga can invite Moshoeshoe too.

  18. Some people here claim Banda is a clever president, muy foor! Well, “ni kusiyana siyana kwama office”, we know Luapulans wanted a 3rd tern for FJT “to finish his programs”.

  19. Some people here claim Banda is a clever president, my foot! Well, “ni kusiyana siyana kwama office”, we know Luapulans wanted a 3rd tern for FJT “to finish his programs”.

  20. ala balanda ati birds of the feather flock together…in this case it will not be “so do pigs and swine” but so do zuma and RB…guess they are alike….see zuma become the second RB in the cuming years kaili balipalana ka…guess this is scandalous……
