TASKFORCE on corruption chairman Maxwell Nkole

The executive Chairman of the Task Force on Corruption says corruption has became endemic in Zambia.

Maxwell Nkole also notes that some people now feel corruption is a normal way of life.

He has called on cooperating partners to continue supporting Government’s efforts in fighting graft by strengthening institutions such as the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Mr. Nkole was speaking when US ambassador to Zambia, Donald Booth, called on him at his office.

And Mr. Nkole said government is currently drafting the anti corruption policy in an effort to strengthen the fight against the scourge.

He also said the policy will decide the future of the Task Force on Corruption.

  1. This govt is bad news. Whats going on?? What about Dora Sillier ? Coz once she is in George and Band will follow.

    • My bro,
Corruption is a disease. Once these bosses take oath of office they think they own the whole world and are immune to prosecution and everyone has to be at their mercy. They forget what their office mandate is and lose their heads. They think ‘bribes’ are sweet but forget that these are baits. They dont look over their shoulders/backs or think twice when committing these crimes/offences.
The end result is kukakwa. sole william…

  2. Who doent know that? Who is not involved/? Max Nkole must accept that giving money to buy votes is the beginning of big corruption and I hope he is not making exceptions

    • I suppose he should be investigated by you!!! since you suspect every one else. Ofcourse the other one you trust is Sata and Fred Mumembe.

  3. Its impossible to completely wipe out corruption because senior goverment officials are the culprits! problem is, they are even doing it in broad-day light without fear! So we may as well forget about it!

  4. Corruption is here to stay.So u Mr Maxwell Nkole and yo feollow task force fimofimo r jus wasting tax payers money coz corruption emulila bambi.

    • Mama Zoe,
I would not encourage that statement. Corruption is an offence and Iam at present not able to classify it into ‘sin’ as I have no quote in the bible.. Why should someone go into it knowingly just because ‘bambi emwakulyila umumwine’? Every office bearer should have a sane mind not to endevour in such a direction.
These bosses are not kids not to distinguish what is right from wrong. Corruption can be anywhere to stay but whats the price????Task force can at least reduce these crimes and perpetrators brought to book.
      No offence meant mama.

  5. You are right my dear, but dont forget that you are also corrupt.I know corruption is a bad thing in both ways(Human point of view and Biblical point of you),but they are some pipo who are doing it coz of poverty.Pipo like Bakapokola and teachers, their salaries are just too small kuti nabafolesha nangu nine student depending on someone’s money.

    • Bana Zoe Mulumbwa,
Civil servants should channel their pay grievances through the right channels.Orthey can engage in legal small business ventures to supplement their lifestyle.
I work 2 jobs in order to meet my daily hefty life styles(though I have less time to clean my house) and this is a ‘sane mind’ indeed. Corruptiuon is no way to go. Everyone knows that policemen, nurses and all other ciilvil servants in Zambia are at the worst receiving end where pay is concerned but one has to think twice about the end result of their actions.

      Actually corruption encourages laziness.

    • apologies to so many spelling mistakes in these two postings.. did not edit before L.T. posted.
Meant Otherwise they can engage in legal…

Actually cutey/wifey uses bifocal reading glasses. Apologies again.

    • Owe ba Cutey, i work for ACC nd where wil i go corruption nga yapwa?Am the Preventions Officer there n the probability of it been wiped is 1% mwee kaya kaya..Chichetekelo fye

    • Which civil servants? Do you know what a Director at Ministry of Finance and National planning earns? Just say teachers , Doctors, nurses and other Medical personnel. A Director at Finance will pay you and your father

    • Chichetekelo is the way to go, but still more Mama Zoe Mulambwa, thats no good reason to support corruption. Corruption nga yapwa Ba Lesa bakamipela inchito yimbi kuchila apa, nalimo promotion ka!. So you seriously saying there is only 1% chance to clear corruption in Zambia. Worst rate in the world I have ever heard of. You are scaring me Mama.
But at least may be the trouble shooting areas should have been identified by now. Dont tell me mama that you are getting paid for nothing at ACC.(no offence meant again here), but 1% achievable rate is= 1/2% effort against it.(in my view)

    • Kelchi,i dnt think in this day n era theres anyone resistant to corrupt activities.Looking 4a sku place, jobs everywhere u go.Awe let them legalise it mwee

    • Mudala wandi ulishani?awe apa pena mudala wandi reverse that statement. The country will be in a mess. But i know why you have said this that is why I will not crucify you on this one.You said it out of icifukushi.Have a great day Man.Your pic is nice, don’t worry Iam not a gay,its just that Iam used to give complements where they are due.

    • Ba Ka’doyo,you see now.you are supporting it.Abakulowele balifwa,becoz ngabalikunfweliko uluse.AhhhhAhhhh

    • wamona nayiwe Zoe ka. because it will never go away and maybe it might even encourage the poor to get rich

  6. The fact is the mind of a human being is corrupt through and through. However those who do it at the expense of the poor shall be punished. Politicians are the waste culprits. From time immemorial corruption has been there and you can only reduce it and not wipe it completely. For the ACC and the other bodies set to fight corruption in this country can only do it better if they are fully independent from the government.

    • My dear corruption is like Aids, some get it coz of misbehaving, some get coz of poverty and some get it coz of their unfaithful partners.Same na corruption, some do corruption coz of enjoying it,some ni poverty and some they are just made to do it coz they are unable to meet their needs.E.g Bakapokola nama teachers.

    • please do not insult teachers. it is a noble career. What do you mean corruption with teachers? Yes they get peanuts, but they are not corrupt, If you did not have a teacher, you would not be here where you are, respect for teachers. All the degrees or doctratte you have gained is because you had a teacher to guide u. Even leaders in politics had teachers, stop involving teachers please.

  7. Imwe mwebantu what do you expect? This country have spent all the time and money chasing corrupt elements of yesterday, while ignoring modern and refined plunderers of today.Any way could anything evercome out of leaders who are viciously defending those accused of being corrupt? Now this is real coruption!

  8. Problem is on us Zambians , we continue electing and appointing corrupt people in high offices. We should open our eyes. Bakambwalala.

  9. Good and continue doing a good policy job. On “The executive Chairman of the Task Force on Corruption says corruption has became endemic in Zambia”, we as Zambians need to eradicate the Nichekeleko syndrome fro our minds which was instituted by the former President FTJ Chiluba’s Administration.

  10. Thanks LT for the warning, but Iam sure after proof reading it you won’t find anything wrong unless you tell me that the word I used which starts with G is not allowed.Once again thank you so much next time I will be extra careful.

    Matworld

  11. Yes it has become a normal way of life in Zambia. What do you expect others to do if people like George and others including the president himself are defending Dora Siliya? The fight against the scourge in Zambia has become so selective.Targeting certain individuals because of some hidden agenda. In order to fight this virus that has destroyed our country,we need leaders who would be transparent in the way they deal with issues of corruption. As things stand now to curb corruption, the clean up has to start from the top leadership first. There are people who seem to be untouchable there and yet there are cases of corruption leveld against them.Katele kalumba,Michael Mabenga,Dora Siliya and…

    • you are right man…there is no fight against corruption going on in Zambia. I can asure you . Even the sentences of 4, 5 ,7, 12 years in jail with hard labour are fake. all tes people get bail and live at home. They wait for their appeals in comfort and by the time they go back to court , the 5 years are over. We are just wasting money as we are so selective in this fight. Sounding gongs we have become. Malabashi.

  12. But pa Zed awe yachilamo. These days even normal things like reporting a case to the police paka mambala adyemo naye.getting NRC paka bangwelw badwemo. What did FTJ do kansi to our people?the whole corruption thing is just in people’s veins

  13. ‘Corruption is now rife in Zambia – Nkole’…yes but a bit of a contradictory statement , innit? Current evidence shows that some people are getting prosecuted and other are still being investigated by your office Mr. Nkole. Are you saying you are losing this fight and if so, why should you be in office, still? Going by the statement, it seems no matter what you do, corruption mutates… so what next?

  14. Get rid of all those corrupt immigration officers too.How can an officer in this day and age check all your belongings in full view of other passengers ,one by one including your underwear?Don’t they have scanners or stuff like that?

    • I don’t swear my dear. They are just being a pain (oh sorry )they are just slowing down the blogging. If anything more bad language is done in the vernacular on this blog.

  15. Looks like the there has been some hacking incident from the ruling party. But how are we going to keep them in check if we cannot express ourselves on this wonderful sight of yours LT?

  16. But most of you will agree with me that corruption starts at the point of entry i.e the Airport. So those guys should be sorted out first, followed by the police -it’s like that is all they learn at Lilayi.

  17. There is great need for Zambians to break this Cycle of Corruption and at the same time fight the spirit of selfishness. Even those who are fond of donating will know that we are using the funds to establish grounds necessarily for us to sustain ourselves without depending on foreign help.
It is also important to introduce severe punishment for those involved. Please refrain from 3 or 4 years imprisonment. Just start at 10 Years and above as this will make most of the of the people think even more than twice before they act lawless.
It is sad to see that the only thing that most africans have in common is poverty and success is always measured on how much an individual acquires…

  18. Sorry for the Deviation but i found this on ZNBC website…”Kariba North Bank Extension project is located on the Zambezi River at Kariba dam, about 200 kilometres north of Lusaka”
    is this right?

  19. There is nowhere in the world where there has ever been a CORRUPTION ERADICATION strategy because it is impossible to eradicate corruption. What a country can do is to CONTROL CORRUPTION. You control corruption through an efficient corruption detection and judiciary system, resource management control systems that minimize corrupt tendencies, incentive schemes that reduce the likelihood of citizens engaging in corruption, and anti-corruption education. Don’t forget, some communities are made up of individuals who are naturally given to engage in corruption even in the presence of plenty.; while other communities still manage to achieve low corruption even in presence of little! where are…

  20. I know Max Nkole as a principled copper. He was fished out of Barclays where he had a lucrative job by Chiluba who later dropped him like a hot potato and sent him to Rwanda on a peace keeping mission. Max is the best IG Zambia has never had. Just look at the results he has achieved with Mutembo Job in securing convictions whereas Mr Mark Chona was just going round in circles. Ralph Farai Chalwe Mchenga is a let down as DPP.

  21. Not suprising we know it bcoz we have been victims of this vice, talk of contract awarding, acquiring documents and many more just corruption. Our leaders embrace it so what do you expect. These people we call leaders are blood suckers

  22. The thing is, all of you are corrupt but those who are caught should be punished. More especially public office holders. When corruption is reduced it could lead to awarding contracts to the rightful persons and this could lead into speeded development. Did you know that K2trillion was the excess of expenditure last year between Sep and Nov. And the explanation was that we were burrying our president. Can you imagine? No breakdown of how all that money was spent. May I remind you that this amount which was about 17% of our total national budget last year, disappeared in 3 months. This I presume was greater than the total allocation for education.

  23. As chief task force on corruption, his number one priority is to devise methods of catching the culprits and bringing them to justice. Moaning about the situation will not deliver any results. A journey of a thousand miles always starts with a single step.

  24. We are the Nigeria of southern africa! we have nothing on Naijas,we are competeing for first place as most corrupt country on earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!just watch this space……..
