MMD youths in Ndola have given MMD NEC Members Elias Mpondela and Sebastian Kopulande a 24-hour ultimatum in which to resign or face their wrath.
Led by MMD Ndola District Youth Chairman Patrick Nyasulu, the youths said they are seriously disappointed with the remarks made by the two NEC members during a Radio Phoenix, live radio programme “Let the people talk” yesterday.
Mr Nyasulu, who was accompanied by Cornelius Chitukwa, Gehane Ntaimo and Alex Mabanga all members of the district executive committee, said two senior leaders have been associated with the MMD for a long time and that it is immoral for the two to speak as they spoke.
He said the youths in Ndola are calling for their immediate resignation from the party because they have out lived their usefulness.
He further charged that the youths were also aware that the two NEC members are working in collaboration with a few bad eggs in the NEC who want to bring down the party and President Rupiah Banda.
The youths have vowed that if the two do not resign they will be forced to take the law into their own hands and have the two sorted out.
Mr Nyasulu said the cleaning exercise of the MMD party is underway and in top gear and advised that all disgruntled members should leave the party before they face the wrath of the youths, who he said are geared to defend the name of the party and its President who is also republican head of state.
ZANIS/PC/ENDS/M
That is what is going to happen every day now
Taking the Law in their own hands? Are now in Texas? Please do not Zambia be invaded by useless mobs.
Your flag baba. we know you!!!
viva Kopulande, viva Mpondela. More to come.
your flag babaa
What did the two members say on ‘Let The People Talk’?
Nameless. This is journalism for you in Zambia. It leaves you with a lot of questions rather than answers. I wonder why LT even bothered to feature this story without prior gathering of important facts.
I was read through the story to learn what the chaps said to deserve threats from MMD rogue cadres but to no avail. STUUUUPPPP!!!!!DDDD, journalism.
I think its important to appreciate what LT is doing because they are availing us news free of charge unlike the post where you have to subscribe.Their news has been beneficial to those of us that are outside the country.Of course they may make mistakes but i do not think they deserve such insults from ungrateful people.Lt has been informative to Zambians in diaspora unlike Zambia Daily mail and Times which cover MMD and Government of the day.LT keep it up, do not be swayed by destructive criticisms.
Hey Peter the outbursts by the MMD cadres have been propelled by the bad reporting of the POST Newspaper whose editorials have been a danger to Zambian politics.
I have for a long time been warning Zambians about the reported news in the POST newspaper but very few have been objective to agree with me.
All this is due to the wrong sentences that the POST attributed to the duo. Sad enough, I do not know how this will be corrected after the cadres have indicated “He said the youths in Ndola are calling for their immediate resignation from the party because they have out lived their usefulness”.
What a shame by the POST and I hope all Zambians will stop taking their news as gospel truth.
Sorry it seems LT are not aware of what they put out, anyway the story can be found the zambianwatchdog and yesterday’s Post.
ERIC it is not free news my friend. we are according LT the numbers which they use for statistics.ala kwena bushe you guys you never learn anything? ati mwaba kumagalande.
LT,
This story does not make sense to some readers like me…..It would have made more sense if you had told us what the duo said on “let the people talk” that has made the so called youths angry. Please try to be precise with your reporting.
baL.T, please improve your reporting. How do u expect us to make a judgment about the story if we don’t know what Kopulande and Mpondela said? L.T, you can do better than this. This is a very poor news article
Nine Lives, i did not understand you comment because you are using bembalised english, direct bemba translation.
A replica of Animal Farm scenario, reminiscent of UNIP vigilantes era and we might one day wake up only to find ourselves living in the 13th century where there was literally no freedom of speech.
I like this…wansekesha mudala iwe!
HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. May God blesss you ever more.
Iyoo, chashupa nomba uko ku Kitwe.,
But why go to the extent of wanting to take the law into their own hands?Bambi baka kakwa pofye.
Hello Ba cutey, It is simply because they have state backing how else can they do it ,and on whose authority
Iyoo kanshi Ba Wise man, its animal farm indeed.
So if they have state/govt. backup, it means they can’t be arrested even when they are in the wrong? Its corruption all over again. Gday to you and keep well..
I feel pity for these cadres. Some of them in this picture might be wearing pata pata’s with a safetypin as safety.
Kano amano kuya mkupanga ichikwela, ukwalola umwela- eko twalola.!
I wonder if they are given allowances after this ichikwela.
Sorry, meant uko ku Ndola…
Why are the MMD cadres on such rampage? This is insurbordination.Such matters should be handled by NEC’s disciplinary committee and not the cadres.I think iam behind, what did these two asy to warrant their expulsion? Awe Nkhani yalula mu MMD.
they said its time for RB to get to work and tell the nation what his plan are , pipo need inspiration from its leadeeship they also wanted to know what measure govt has put to cushion the financial crisis the nation is going thru bcoz alot of pipo have lost jobs and companies have closed and RB and him MMD govt are quiet as though all is well they demanded answer …and then these same thugs who are suffering the most are demostrating –story in the post
My brother/sister, were you born yesterday? This is typical of unip. I once lived in Kaunda Square stage 2. UNIP cadres used to be on rampage if they found a mother selling vegetable or kapenta outside her yard when she should have gone to dance for KK at airport, who is just coming from Japan where he had gone to shed crocodile tears for the emperor’s death. They were never condemned by the RBs neither did KK. In fact they were in support of cadres. RB is simply enjoying such scenes.
The reason could be because the head of state has associated himself with the cadres and not the enlightened. Thats why cadres seem to have all the freedom. The head of state must realise this otherwise he will not have well qualified ministers in his cabinet. And it seems we are already seeing this
Typical cadre mentality pa zed if u dont have income just be the loudest cadre and you get paid
Iam really concerned by LT half-baked reporting. Some of us have little or no time to listen to Radio Phoenix and its imperative for LT to tell us what these guys said or rather report in deatail.I dont mean to be rude, who trained LT reporters? Mutimvesa nsoni. On the other article, some reporter wrote kawambwa is in Northen province,Please!LT I really appreciate your service but mediocre reporting send a bad image of our journalists to the world.
sharp shoot LT are amartures get the whole story from the post
Thanx bro.
Probably, that means there is nothing worth lynching them, that they said. The cadres are just sturving and want be seen to be doing something in favour of RB so that he invites them to state house for crumbs falling of the tables of state house. Pansala pa Zambia you can’t blame them.
Mpondela says Zambia requires great leadership that will inspire the nation in order to have a quick response to the crisis the nation is facing. “What this country needs is great leadership that will inspire the nation. We need to remove mediocrity that we have embraced, the fear of the unknown; we should reduce on talk and practice politics of inclusion. We should also give chance to the media to highlight what is going on to trigger high-speed action.”
walasa PY those were the exact words
And what is wrong with these words that the youths should go for his blood?? These chaps are ruling the country now….crying evertime like a baby to its mother, to give it anything it wants, even when it is not available.
Protocol calls for systemic approach to institutional matters.Mpondela as a member of MMD has multiple channels of channeling his concerns to the command than playing frictional games. You mean if he had engaged the command through highlevel channels, he would have sparked some political plugs? Where you work own business or under some employer, does communication work like that? Do you go on air to communicate to your leadership? If you do that god bless your job.Any smart person will attest to the fact that the engaged in acts of putting the administration in disrepute. You remember what Sata did to his party MP for kasama
Chishimba or Mwanawasa to NEC member mrs Moonga over Jonas Siakafwa?
The cadres are back in business late LPM had sidelined them now they have found their voices once again much to the detriment of democracy in Zed.
I am sure Nakawala (if alive) , she must be watching with excitement knowing she will soon be the lead of such.
Nakawala and Kulima Tower’s Kadoli have both migrated with their mentor President Sata in PF.You he trained, equiped and funded them for the third term. But its miscarriage, they migrated with their God father in PF.
They are even constantly paid now. LPM was said to be stingy because he never entertained them.
You are very right, LPM sidelined the cadres because they are very unproductive and just bring confusion because they lack understanding. It is also a pity that the leadership of the MMD cannot be questioned y anyone from within lest they are expelled or forced to leave by the so called youths. In this era, youths must understand their role in society not thinking of taking the law in their own hands.
I am wondering if this party really has a head! Can someone silence the cadres?
In a democracy, if you strongly feel your social facts be they material or nonmaterial are fundamentally and perpetually at variance with the principals, you challenge the principals at the ballot which Kopulande did and got his only vote from self while Elias Mponde widely disdained for his promiscuity and wife battering has over the years tried to run for the Lusaka constituency as an MP but in vain rejected since 1999 for his promiscuity and forceful push for improper business favors Mwanawasa disdained. The last option if the Gentlemen feel they have credible political constituencies and fire in their bellies is to honorably resign from MMD and start their own parties or join existing…
But that doesnt necessarily mean that they can never speak sense nor offer valuable advice
Promiscuity is never entertained in the political arena. In the US,governors(as was the case with New York Governor(D)),Senators and Represenattive are impeached if found guilty.Mpondela knows he has no political future hence the sentiments.
Definetly they have and have had democractic space to speak for all these years but does not take away their best option if they have to realise their dreams.Mazoka did it and moved UPND from nothing to second largest ever opposition that possed itself fundamentally well as an alternative Government in waiting. Its sad his death has left his dream in ruins typical of charismatic leadership. The dream and the future dies with the leader.Continuity becomes a phassad of life.
who has a future, if I may ask the learned colleagues on this blog
Flag baba
Hey bloggers, i totaly agree with Mpondelas’ words.I personally see no hope in RB and his administration. We need a leader that can think not just waste time dealing with cadres. Things are not well pa zed ka!
no comment
Who let the dogs out. Who! Who! Who!
you
those youths from Ndola are useless.Cant they see the poverty around them.
RB is only capable of leading animals and not human beings
Are saying Zambians have become animals? Unless you have migrated your parents and next of keen to SA, your statement imply that your own parents under the Government RB constitutionally are primates. Then why not provide a human being Government yourself instead of just blogging. You know we are all just charter boxes here without leverage in the political arena where power is marshalled.Governments are not born out of blogging incase you don’t know.
KUKU you are very right, the brotherman’s statement is in bad taste. Please people, let us be considerate before we post our comments.
Perhaps we are, by the look of things
useless statement. its an insult to all Zambians. Look Mpondela and Kopulande have right to speak and the cadres also have a right to respond and ask the two to get out of MMd since they do not support current leadership. BUT they cannot take the law into their own hands
Not even animals. Ok, maybe p!!!gs.
LT where are the comments going kanshi??????
One thing that characterises a Zambian is being reactive instead of proactive.Lets face it,the financial crisis is being felt by every country in the world.Rich nations are bailing out their industries and its a fact that we dont have those billions to do the same. Our economy depends 90% on copper(As reported by BBC),and” the drop in demand and world prices of copper by over 66% has greatly affected Zambia despite its sound economic policies” said the IMF MD Straus-khan on CNN’s Inside Africa Progarmme.I would have been very happy if Mpondela as an Economist, had given suggestions on how to diversify the economy to reduce dependence on copper.
Actually on the radio programme they gave suggestions on how we could diversify and ensure that Zambia mitigates the effects of the crisis and Kopulande further said “The problem is that when Kopulande wants to give advice, he is regarded as an enemy of development and that he is talkative. …you can’t just listen to those who speak well of one”.
Correct but Kopulande is a member of the NEC and can provide this advice within the Party structures and does not go on TV and castigate his own party. Come on guys where can a leader publicly denounce his own party and still remain a member? lets be serious and not behanve like animal farm
You sound a rationalist worth debating on fundamentals. Are you solid in economics, finance or public policy matters? May be we can have a roller coaster here on some fundamentals.Sadly street political rhetoric has taken precedence in public debate rostrums as this one without giving the country a repertoire of free ideas.
Actually, Iam in international Economics.
Perfect! Then we have issues to zero on which may help our siblings here and instituions open to ideas.until january 2009, Zambia has been a country without an industrial Policy infant or otherwise, luck of anti dumping policy choked every sector UNIP left leading to serious social dislocations. We have been a copper producing country and the commodity has hit a snug withought capitalising on the gains of the just ended copper boom under Mwanawasa yet we had a Makerere Graduate as minister of Financ. BOZ has no forex inflow, we have nothing to trade in and our labor intensive economy cannot sustain the employment rates or pose any comparative advantage to any trader in the Globalized economy
mwe mbwamwe mukulanda ichisungu mwapena after all you are just another swarm of premature interlectuals.you muppets who hate anything to do with RB and idolises any crap that comes from the special zero SATA. After all KOPULANDE has disassociated himself from what was attributed to him by another con through his paper the post.check the ZNBC website facts were twisted by the POST.what the man said and what was reported has left the man baffled.remember what they did to simutanyi?absolue fraud and there half brains there masquerading as interlectuals who cant read what the post is up to.
Zambia has had a Trade and Industrial Policy for the last 2 and half yrs if not 3. Though not yet formally approved by cabinet it is this document that has been guiding most of what the Ministry of Commerce doing. There is no need for an antidumping policy per se, what Zambia needs is a body that looks at anti dumping measures, safeguards, subsidies and counterveiling duties etc what is currently hapening is a situation where you have a fragmented way of dealing with surges in imports that negatively affect our industries i.e. Commerce, Finance, ZRA etc. Then we need to attract qualified people to be in that .
Akapondo wansekensha !!!!. ne mbafu shakalipa weeee!!!
What is wrong with Makerere University…now known as the University of East Africa? I find no difference between this Univesity and UNZA. Are you implying that graduates from such universities are less credible?
PY ,
and What is that industrial policy you are saying we have had in the past 2-3 years? We cannot be talking of a proposition in its draft form as industrial policy.I’m talking of what is effected and actively monitored with benchmarks as the responsible administration policy. If you take your time to analyze how we have vulnerable we are economically as a country in the face of the Global economic contraction, you will realise that for long we have had no industrial policy. We were blessed with the Copper boom for three years and debt relief yet lack of clear blue print has left us with nothing today. Can’t we learn from the japanese miracle? Of cause not their protected Zaibatsu sytem.
The approval is supposed to be a formality, which unfortunately has been prcrocratinated featuring on Cabinet Agendas. It is monitored and even has bench marks. It was actually used to input in the Ministries Strategic Plan & FNDP. The industrial policy even had some input from UNIDO. This is also what forms the basis when coming up with Ministerial budgets. Am from the private sector and was privileged to participate in the consultions. Generally when you look at the policies or docs available in Zambia, you wonder why we do not move forward. Even the civil servants, they are very intelligent and actually know what should be done. Major problem is commitment to implementation.
PY,Zambians a good policy makers but worst implementors. If policy making has been in tandem with implementation, today zambia would have regained her position as a middle-income country and would be moving forward forward economically in long strides.
If you take your time to analyze how economically vulnerable we are as a country in the face of the Global economic contraction, you will realise our lack of it.
I think the question we need to ask ourselves is, why is it that we have good policy documents & an educated civil service, yet cannot tick. These same civil servants when they go abroad they tick & excel both in work place and Universities. I think it is because political priorities overide economic ones even at Ministerial level. we should also never underestimatei the negative impact of patronage.
This is a very important discussion we need sustain in depth on some thread.Maybe one of us consider opening up a Google document or blog for policy discussion than these politically clouded discussion threads. For the first time i feel we could help influence public office and politics for the common good.Just a proposal.I hapen to have apolitical folks longing for issue based discourse on fundamental issues. In democracy public debates that are elevated play a useful role in shaping public policy.
The cadres are back in full force. Only yesterday they were on radio threatening to go and sort out father Bwalya
Father Bwalya went too far. He made the whole issue too personal. I heard his speech on 13th Nov. 2008(there about)on radio ichengelo when Ivisited Zambia. He was boasting ati bakapokola bali panse pa studio balefwaya ukunkaka, nshisakamene iyo. What he prophesised before that was total anarchy and peace provocation at its worst.
I wonder how far his case has gone/progressed in the courts of law.
That case was dropped. These are new threats, which were only issued last friday because of a programme which was aired earlier in the week. People should be free to express themselves, why should it be only MMD members and cadres who can say whatever they want and even demonstrate without a permit?
If what PY #10 said is what Mpondela said, then I find no reason why these youths should go for his blood. I find a lot of sense in the words. He might have his personal weaknesses (each one of us has anyway), but that does not make whatever he says valueless. The Youths are behaving like cadres now, they are ruling the country….
I think we ll have a leadership crisis with Rupiah ( bwezani Ziko pansi) banda’s style of leadership
thats what our youths ar capable of doing…. being used by political parties as violence “instruments”. why can’t our youths stand up and fight fo their right position in the government and other organisations???
:-j MMD will have very few members by 2011
on the other hand Kopulande asked RB to come out clear on what he wants to do for the country i.e clear vision. Kopulande further charged that it will take focused leadership to reverse the current situation and called on Rupiah’s government to be driven by priorities
😮 😮 Who gives them the authority to take the law in their hands as they claim. V.Pres. Nkunda or not the rebel leader in Congo DR but meant Kunda just warned that no one is above the law a few weeks ago. How come these MMD cadres think they are above the law?
Next wave of attack will be on LT manager. I can see this. LT they are coming for you now for letting the Diasporians criticize Nyama soya. Zambia is in both political and economic crisis. Who shall save us??????
Zambian youths are blind, and i mean very blind they dont know what is right and wrong, and to make matters worse they dont want sombody to say the truth. when you look at them in the picture they look dirty and hungry and the person they are supporting is having three or four meals a day and he’s happy, when will they learn to do the right thing and support people who are ready to develope the country. SHAME ON YOU YOUTHS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if only these cadres knew the power they have just by having the membership card.the evaluation of the leaders performance can be monitored from party level to top level. these cadres can actually demand thir leaders to report to them on what is happening and only those deserving will rise to the top. unfortunately our youths are not used for rants and paid in chibuku form.these cadres have been used to attack every person who questions MMD leaders, they forget that these people they brought in to office to take care of their interests only imrove their own lives and drive expensive cars yet the cadre`s life does not change at all.they cant put a meal on the table let alone pay school fees.
Generally for them its about where the next meal will come from. Not knowing that they are getting trapped in a vicious poverty cycle. For as long as the continue to support Politicians without a proper vision for the country, they will never be economically empowered and will forever depend on the “brown cadre envelops”, which will in turn make them shout for the blood of anyone who even dares cough in the direction of RB.
Bane I think we are going back to the times of ba Vigillant.. Bushe what has gone wrong mu MMD? For those of u who donot know the full story, Kompulande and Mpondela said it is immoral for anyone in the party to castigate a person like magande. They also said Magande has lasted long in the party and any mistake on his party should be dealt with by NEC and not insinuations made by the youth in the press that he shud b expelled.
The democratic space allows any social current. Don’t be trapped in series of rhetoric.power is not in the media but on the ground.Resign and assemble yourselves for a battle in the court of public opinion which is the ballot against those you oppose. When Mazoka found himself uncomfortable in MMD, he resigned andd founded UPND.When sata lost the third term bid, he resugned to lead PF and vicious cycle continues.I have just been told that another party has just been launched of of sunday March 14th 2009.We have 52 parties. Its democracy.Lets see what you can do.The more you talk of MMD, you campaign for them and cognizant that business opportunities have shifted.
There is need for intra party democracy in all the parties in Zambia. The situation where one cannot even dare express a different opinion from that of the leader is not healthy. Forming of new parties each time we can’t be heard in a party is no solution either. There is need for maturity and embrace diverse opinions. We can even have 100 parties but if they are all mediocre and not founded on democratic principles, the country is headed for no where and we will continue being in the league of countries that have been at war as patronage will rule!
yes my dear some people we have never heard of now lead a new party. i think its ridiculus to have parties that will never bear fruit but just split votes let alone will not aford campaign funds.
The media plays a critical role in any democratic state and for this reason it should not by any means be taken for granted. Having several political parties especially in Zambia does not mean real democracy is at play. This simply highlights the fact that when politicians differ/disagree…they opt to form another political at the expense of the 12 million Zambians!! This act does not solve Zambia problems but encourages divisions. If anything, political parties should be based ideology and at the moment, there are no significant ideological differences between the parties at play!

Problems after problems in mmd. New way leading the country by RB.Anway am very happy today a certain small team has been clobered, butcherd, crushed and humiliated by liverpool 4_1. On our part,we are in form Drogba is scoring goals,Essien is back ichalo ukuwama ichi.

Politics is an interesting game, Kopulande was one of the best campaigners of RB last year.He was on every television station and radio station. He was busy talking ill of my president Sata. Today he is denouncing RB awe mwe. Away from politics, Viva chelsea and Drogba.
Ala naciwama Man U nalusa uluse kuli Rashid Jones While Matworld alesefya VIVE CHELSEA.

Man Utd has just lost a game but not the Title. Remember! Campions of England are Champions of Europe and World Club Championship. This is a minor set back an eye opener.
Oh sorry sindimwe ba Liverpool, muoneka you are happy on behalf of…..ndimwe ba Chelsea
As much as we have been humiliated, we are still on top, with one game at hand or is it in hand mwe baishiba icisungu. Tekanyani….
Well I guess this was expected once they all realised that RB was truly UNIP with a UNIP old skool mentality. When things appear to be heading in the wrong direction, it is only right to have them corrected. It should not be expected of everyone to agree with the head of state, for the sake of showing loyalty. We are talking about mother Zambia, here and requires a level headed President to manage. RB has passed his use by date and has no direction, no idea about whats going on.
The MMD need to control their Youth supporters. If left uncontrolled, they will cause serious divisions in the MMD.
As a media expert, I am very disappointed by the article’s contents, b/se it has raised more questions to readers, other jonalists inclusive than it explins what the subject is about 🙁 . Shame!
Ba RB, please restore order in the MMD
LT LT LT. Are you having a technical problem. Where are the comments going to
this is a typical example of poor journalism! no background to the story just plain amateurish!
Thank you for being precise
My good people when a leader has run out of ideas or is incapable of leading he/she often turns to the promotion of anarchy, that way the people will focus on the disorder rather than the leader. It is also typical for useless leaders to blame the world rather than working towards a solution.
Yes LT you need to step up your game
History is repeating itself. We saw a lot of these sponsored statements and demos during Chiluba’s Third Term bid. Anybody who came up in the open was branded as an enemy of the President. Today we see the victimization of all who are trying to reason with a failing leadership. It appers to be a Second Term bid. There are fears the incumbent mighty not have a second term because of leadership concerns. As such any critisism looks like a block towards a major goal. There is fear they may be forced to hire image builders in the next compagin as well. Imaging building will actually be based on how best national issues have been handled and not ON HOW MANY PEOPLE MMD HAS EXPELLED
Stomach and live with ithe fact that MMD will sweep the 2011 elections with much easy than we seem to dream. There is no crystalizing issue to bear solidarity.Ready up for more rivalry and squables in the opposition ranks with more factional parties emerging.Zambians are too hungry for power and have misunderstood democracy. These are not politicians you can count on for sustainable political collusion.Coming to that they’re like oil and water. You cannot expect HH subscribing to Sata leadership or the other way or Brig.Miyanda doing so to his compatriots.Their political bases forefeiting prospects of power and privileges for another one is a fallacy argument worth learning about.
I strongly believe that the Undereducate Michael Chilufya Sata can easily acknowledge that his time is all over and support the young the way he mentioned it on Sky Radio of Monze that it did not matter whether Mr UPND president HH led the coalition of UPND-PF, but what was needed was to get rid of the MMD GRZ. My hope is that some of the Undereducate’s close friends will convince him to stop delaying Zambian politics to be turned into a clean and economic development oriented platform.
Once the Undereducate disbands PF and joins the UPND as a cadre, all will be well and we can witness a new UPND GRZ in 2011 where the Undereducate can have a position of Prime Minister as pres. HH…
Zambian youths………so disappointing. They are not wvwn capable of thinkng on their own)))
The cadres are reportedly reacting to a story in the post of 14March 2009, but both Kopulande and Mpondela were quoted on the 13.00hrs Radio Phoenix news as denying the post story, and that they were grossly misquoted. They further claimed that they never mentioned anything about RB and challenged the post to listen again to the recording of “Let the people talk” programme and report correctly. I am waiting for a reaction from president mmembe in the sunday post, which may or may not come, given that it suits president mmembe’s designs!
#46 Denials on non factual reporting or correct reporting but source denies for fear of retribution, on one hand demonstrating on non factual/factual information HASTILY from the MMD tells a lot. Why then didn`t the MMD hooligans confirm with Kopulande and Mpondela before asking for their blood ? Did the hooligans get any permit ? Who sanctioned the demonstration? This to me indicates turbulence in the party.
the watchdog also wrote the story but retracked after a few hours.i read it before LT posted. when i went to verify something after LT posted this story,it was no longer there.its not tjust the post.
Zimbabwe will recover soon and zambia will take its place, why? having gone through what they did, they are focussed on recovery and they do not have time for useless talk and sensational journalism. Sometimes I fear that one day God might give us the rwanda treat if only to make us realise that He gave us a great country and we failed to appreciate His gift.
And people denounced the recent initiative to get MMD youth constructively cleaning up Leopards Hill graveyard. The problem is simply that they have to much time on their hands.
I don’t know whether I should sympathise with Bwezani or I should be upset with him. There is not a trace of leadership in that party. The man can not see it, he is riduculed even by those who praise him in public places. There is a complete shift in focus from his predecessor and himself unfortunately for him, he stil has the same people that were with Levy. Sometimes survival is better among the strong. Every little person in the MMD is attempting to strengthen their position by hounding one person or another. You can not claim to be a strong club if you are left with disposable material only. You need in the club assets material for keeping. Where is VJ ?
Where are we heading as a nation!!! Our Nation is as if we don’t have educated citizens who can advice our politicians who seem not to have a vision. As a youth I feel our future is uncertain. The world is in a trying time when concerned citizens need to look beyond politics and unite for the benefit of the nation. We sound to have forgotten the reasons for our fight for freedom. The unity that we thought we achieved is by far away in our thoughts. This poor nation needs better education systems, better health facilities, infrastructure maintenance and development. I feel bad how politicians and cadres of all types have taken control of the country.
MOVEMENT for Multi-party Democracy chairperson for commerce, Sebastian Kopulande, has called for formulation of a mechanism that will reduce externalisation of profits by investors in the country.
Mr Kopulande said the move would ensure stabilisation of the local currency against major ones on the foreign exchange market.
Speaking during the Let the people talk programme on Radio Phoenix yesterday, Mr Kopulande said if no measures were put in place to retain the profits made by investors, there would be negative consequences on the economy.
“There is too much capital outflow in Zambia and that should be controlled,” he said.
Mr Kopulande said the Government should…
On the same programme, Lusaka businessman, Elias Mpondela, said the economic difficulties Zambia was facing should not be politicised because they cut across political lines.
He said there was need for all stakeholders to work together and find solutions to the problems the country was facing.
“We have enough educated manpower to solve most of the problems which our country is facing today,” he said.
He said Zambians should not think that the current problems were insurmountable because of the country’s geographical position.
Mr Mpondela called on the Government to prioritise programmes that would empower local investors because their profits would be utilised…
It takes an educated nation to build a properous nation.
A ba ku Ndola Fiwelewele!!!!!!
Don’t mind them!!!!!
There is nothing more dangerous than an ignorant mob of people!
The Post newspaper says it misquoted MMD chairman for Commerce Sebastian Kopulande and Lusaka MMD chairman Elias Mpondela when the two spoke on Radio Phonix on Friday March 13.
The Post, in its Sunday edition said on the front page that it mixed up Mr. Mpondela’s remarks with that of a Lusaka resident Frazer Siwale.
Among the things the Post accused Mr. Mpondela in its Saturday edition was that he said Zambia was led by blind people and will fall into a ditch.
The Post also accused Mr Kopulande of saying that Zambia was operating on the principle of a f***ish farmer due to lack of leadership vision.
The Post has said that these words were never said by the two gentlemen but by another person called Frazer Siwale.
But based on these Post newspaper misrepresentations and misquotations, MMD youths in Ndola on Sunday gave Mr. Elias Mpondela and Mr. Sebastian Kopulande a 24-hour ultimatum in which to resign or face their wrath.
The post have already made their sales and huge profits out of the false story published.i guess it was deliberate ’cause no one would have bothered to read what a Frazer Siwale said.
The youths vowed that if the two do not resign they will be forced to take the law into their own hands and have the two sorted out.
The Post Newspaper was banned from covering court sessions involving former president Fredrick Chiluba after Mr. Chiluba complained of bad journalism by the Post.
[Zambian Watchdog]
They have a good job of it so far.
RB has read Animal Farm well and he is applying it by raising the dogs to hound out any opposition
Whereas RB is not my cup of tea, Elias Mpondela (marriage wrecker) and Sebastian Kopulande (Chilubas PS at state house) are not being entirely honest with themselves. These people negated to give the same advice to Chiluba who needed it most…
Njinga Yobweleka Point! Chiluba really needed Kopulande’s advice by virtue of his position but alas he was quite and today he is on the podium giving advice on the radio despite him being a NEC member, sheer hypocrisy by Kopulande!
Blood thirsty youths. I wonder who is paying them! Typical noise makers. I wonder how we can manage to focus on important issues with this psychology in the background.
You just ignore these things if you want to move on, Jamaco. Problem is that we spend too much time debating non-issues.
Kopulande and Mpondela have ably and intellectually resolved this particular non-issue. Here we are, now president mmembe has retracted the story, so what was the halla balloo all about? It’s the same with 90% (yes 90%, but maybe 95%) of the so called hot issues that have pre-occupied us during the last four months.
#28 Do u think these are sensible youths, i doubt.Because i dont think a person with better things to do in life would have time for such behaviour.I dont think they even have access to internet to be able to read how bloggers criticise their nyama soya. The little money they get finishes on chibuku, nowander politicians take advantage of them.
In the pat few days including today its kept me to think what are these youths thinking about. It seems to me that they just get paid to act unruly by memebrs of their party. Why waste time like what there doing.May be they have nothing to do they should look for a job or things to do.
Just a thought, why don’t we do an honest stock take of what we have been saying about President Banda. He is about four months in office now. Right from his first day in office we have set about criticising our own elected president. Can we now take stock individually and critically list our basis for that incessant criticism? I bet most of the negative comments have been baseless and we know it. Shouldn’t we have been more supportive in order to build him into the leader that we want? After all, like it or not, he will be Zambia’s His Excellency until 2011 or even beyond. So it makes sense to engage him nicely and constructively to get him to do the things we want for our country.
Well, just like LPM, he was criticised from the time he came into power. This is the nature of Us Zambians. But the goodness with LPM was that he did not fall in the trap of those who criticised him to the extent that RB has done. LPM proved to the nation that he was a leader and not what we are seeing or hearing about RB today. Basically RB has no programme at the moment hence its very hard to support him. If RB can only stop answering to criticism and concetrate on national issues, the mood of the people will definately change towards him.
If I remember the beginnings of Levy well, he was also criticised for exactly the same thing: he “could not keep his mouth shut”. We said that he should not respond to everything that he heard. Because of that criticism, it took quite sometime for Levy to settle down confidently. People said (of course without justification as usual) that he had just been woken up to take the presidency and therefore he had no programme for Zambia. But for Levy the improved (copper) economy helped him a lot. But the point is that the initial few years of senseless criticism were time wasted for Zambians. Familiar story?
lusaka times change the topic .we want constructive headlines which can help the nation.we’re tired of mmd cadres please.s write omething like Rupiah rejects HH’s propasal for 50%+1.This will help zambia to know what people are thinking about the issue. It seems the media also makes the country to be poor.put more pressure on govt just like the post in order to develop.Do u watch cnn by the way?People are now tired of yo useless headlines.
Russia moscow, I am glad that you are now seeing the positive contribution that president HH is bring to Zambia seriously. Keep it up young man and all the very best.
It is only in Zambia where one can find a shameless marriage wrecker such as Elias Mpondela holding a position in a ruling party and being given a platform to air his views on leadership. Chaps like him should resign from elective office and focus on his concubines such as Leya Banda etc etc
A phiri did mpondela attempt on your wife? Or maybe the leya banda you mentioned was in your rough books and he beat you to it.mpondela hasn’t done antthing wrong to warrant your attacks.infact i can’t blame him because sex outside marriage is realy a thrill.you can do all sorts of styles that you can’t do on your home.even the most critic will just denounce me academicaly but in real sence we all know what am talking about.that’s why all lodges in towns are full every weekent it’s not that they are occupied by visitors.it’s men and women in action
A Phiri at least it is not Leya Bwalya lol
You will not be able to shut these poeple .The more you oppress them the stronger they will become.Who exactly engineered this RB adminstration to come into power.People can’t even voice out their opinions before being fired. He should have been left alone on his Chipata farm as a retired politician.Sometimes age and wisdom do not go together.
On “The youths have vowed that if the two do not resign they will be forced to take the law into their own hands and have the two sorted out.”, I hope President RB Banda will again tell his MMD cadres to exercise restraint like he did over the Minister Dora Siliya SAGA.
Let us keep a peaceful environment in Zambia that will continue to bring investor confidency to our your democracy.
There is seriouly no romm for violence in this day and age. Thus, I would like to advise the MMD youths to reconsider their position and use normal channels to air their grievances.
Chiluba hand picked levy from his sleep, atleast levy managed to put some good people around him and tried to gain some respect except he also hand picked a retired UNIP farmer to be vice and yet he knew that his health was ailing coz even doctors had warned him b4 that the 2nd stroke would be a possible death. Nowonder he left a video thanking people who mourned him. He would have chosen a vice president with potential to lead in case of what happened(MHSRIP). NEC automatically chose RB to run. We need a better system of choosing leader in our political parties, the people should be involved. Dont just let a bunch of corrupt people choose one another. Get involved instead of cadering…

Stop crying mate and make the best of your life. Individual lives sum up to a nation, so your individual vision sums up with mine and other Zambians to make a great vision. The government has told you which sectors of the economy it will put its thrust. These are the opportunites you and I should be talking about instead of crying incessantly. However if the government does not deliver on these plans then you and I can take them to task but that will be latermaybe as we assess them for 2011. In the meantime we can only encourage them to keep the promise. There is no other way mate.
Also note very well that leaders come and go. In one era you may have good leaders, in another bad leaders. One era may have particular problems, another may be virtually problem free. The point is that humans cannot be the same: this is God’s design. However our system of democracy allows periodic elections, but having said this please do not bore me with stories of rigged elections. In 1991 Chiluba overrun Kaunda’s rule with a landslide victory even when accusations of rigging were at their highest. Mate, while you are crying president mmembe is minting money from your tears and making you cry even more.
Next it will be Katele. Notice that he has been insisting on procedure to the displeasurev of Teta. It will take only one wrong word from him and then his corruption cases will become an issue. Just wait.
Oho! I now remember! It now makes sense. This is Rupiah Banda who was mentored by KK. The same Rupiah Banda who was part of UNIP with a vigilante wing which reigned terror.
The MMD cadres are slowly but surely turning into the vigilantes of the UNIP times. After he once said it, once a UNIPIST, always a UNIPIST.Shame MMD and their cadres.
Now that the Post has retracted its story and apologised to all concerned, what happens to the demostrating youth? The post says all the negative comments with regard to the poor performance of SHREK & its MMD govt were made by a certain Siwale & not Mpondela or Kopulande. This is all in Sunday Post
I thought that I read both the saturday post and sunday post. Did I miss something? Mr Shibumi kindly show me where the post apologised to all concerned.
MMD what a shame and your president 🙁
The problem of most Zedian youth (abamukomboni) have is; they do not read newspaper; do not care about school; do not want to know what’s going on in other parts of the world; do not believe they can also lead; are brain-washed to believe only certain known names in politics are annointed to take political office; have so much time to waste; can be bought with a container of chibuku and a bar of life-buoy. That is the reason they rise against upcoming bright minds who challenge old fashioned politics. Elias and Sebastian need the support of the youth and the protest should have been for them to stay . Our parents have grown and need to transfer their “wisdom” to the new blood. Wake up!!!
