The Forum for Leadership Search says lack of dialogue by political parties in the country, in particular Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party for National Development (UPND), has resulted in mediocre politics.
Forum Executive Director Edwin Lifwekelo told ZANIS in a statement that it was not wise for PF and UPND to always criticize President Rupiah Banda.
He said the opposition leaders should instead provide solutions to the current problems the country is experiencing.
Mr. Lifwekelo said the exchange of insults will not bring meaningful results to the economy of the country as this is done at the expense of providing answers to the country’s problems.
He said it is unfortunate that PF leader Michael Sata and UPND president Hakainde Hichilema have allegedly become perpetual alarmists.
Mr. Lifwekelo said the duo risked becoming irrelevant to the nation’s hope and aspirations.
“In as a much as we recognize President Banda’s responsibility to find solutions, we should also bear in mind that it’s a global crisis requiring global solutions that neither Sata nor HH would have sorted out overnight because the current problems in the country were not anticipated,” he said.
He appealed to Mr. Sata and Mr. Hichilema to give President Banda the support that he needs.
ENDS/TM/AM/ENDS
maybe HH but not Sata
The people they always admire (Americans, Europeans) are the ones who created the problem for the world economy out of sheer greed. For our political leaders it is a chance to get rid of the one who defeated them in the elections. There are issues which transend Party politics and the world economic melt down is one such issue especially in mid term.
I have said it time and again. The Zambian press is very cheap anybody can address them at any time. I wonder how the give Edwin Lifwekelo audience
Problem is that everyone it seems, in Zmbia wnts to be president that they lose sight of important matters. Why cant our politician and NGOs & thelike offer suggestions while criticising. Problem agaiin is tht they think if i suggets they might just act on it reducing my chnces of becoming president. In this situation we will never develop but always be a country of “what if” or ati sembe
That is the whole purpose of having opposition parties. IF they dont criticize, who will? think Lifweleko! It your RB who is slowly becoming irrelevant becasue he is not listening to the cries of the people!
Lifwe fimo fimo shut up…..! you gold digger, you are the one who is irrelevant infact you have never been relevant…..just ask RB peacefully to give you a job than to to start provoking pipo who are not of your calibre…!
Sata – Last kicks of a dying horse
HH – clueless wanna be
RB – toothless pitbull
How about you # 7?
Yourself???? can i help?
On “Mr. Lifwekelo said the exchange of insults will not bring meaningful results to the economy of the country as this is done at the expense of providing answers to the country’s problems”, may understanding is that insults are coming from one opposition party and sadly it appears this is there strategy of doing politics.
Following “He said it is unfortunate that PF leader Michael Sata and UPND president Hakainde Hichilema have allegedly become perpetual alarmists. Mr. Lifwekelo said the duo risked becoming irrelevant to the nation’s hope and aspirations.” I am happy that the two mentioned people have been rightly addressed as PF leader and UPND president looking at democratic tendencies in their respective parties. On aspirations and hope, UPND is still alive.
10 continued.
The UPND president and his U-Team have been offering solutions which have constantly fallen on deaf ears and “He appealed to Mr. Sata and Mr. Hichilema to give President Banda the support that he needs” is clearly misplaced in its blanket nature. Let it be known that the REACTIVE manner President RB Banda and the MMD are running GRZ is what is making them to underperform. What they need to do is plan ahead for the future by coming up with programmes that will work. Unfortunately, President RB Banda and his close friends are too engulfed in trying to secure their MMD and National Presidency by sidelining people like Magande instead of utilising them and learning from them on how to govern Zambia properly with set up programmes as opposed to trial and error they do.
This is when MMD starts dancing!! When the two chickens fight the third one rejoices. Poor steps taken by the opposition. They should learn to behave for the sake of the country. we are going through hard times.
Nyama soya has been given suggestions on how to manage the country out of economic malaise but he has not accepted them. Instead he is coniving with the Chinese to bring mobile clinics at a very high cost to Zambia. Who is going to benefit from such type of leadership? The opposition will never support MMD govt and Nyama soya if they remain corrupt. Did they consult users to be if they are happy to have those vehicle clinics? Deals that are arranged in secrecy just puts the country in more economic difficulties and gives chance for those in leadership to steal money. For now RB deserves nothing.
Jamaco, Zambians have always been living in hard times due to por decisions and selfishness by politicians. Since early 80s zambians have been tightening their belts so you can not tell us that these hard times. Have you already tasted or eaten a tobomutwe or selemani?
#8 Women should take over everything. Our brains are never bereft of blood unlike men whose blood supply to their brains iscompromised when they need it for their other vital organ. Women think straight 100% of the time and I can prove it.
#14 I know that Zambians have sacrificed a lot and continue to tolerate such nuisance. Way back in the 80’s I surely tasted “tobomutwe” and “selemani” !! Again this shows how creative Zambians can be. These politicians are a waste of time. Poor management has put a lot of lives to waste. What a shame. I only hope and pray that some sensible person will emerge and take a totally different path in Zambian politics. I wish I could be there to lend a helping hand. Very far away from home trying to make ends meet.
15, Woman of substance, please avoid insulting men when you clearly know that your contribution about women is not true as their blood supply to the brain is equally compromised at critical times.
Please, certain topics are not worthy bringing up on here as their are children who have access to the Internet and also foreigners who check out the mindset of Zambians on here.
Have a great day and desist from going off politics topic to unusual ones on LT.
As of now, I hope you will not be part of “Mr. Lifwekelo said the exchange of insults will not bring meaningful results to the economy of the country as this is done at the expense of providing answers to the country’s problems”‘s discussion of insults.
On the otherhand, Mr Lifwekelo must also lead by example in his…
#14 yes Zambians have sacrificed a lot and these politicians take the poor people for granted. The food stuff you have mentioned emerge when times are hard. Yes Zambia has been going through hard times for a long time. Presidents come and go and take with them a lot of cash that is needed to develop the country. This attitude comes from a mentality of leaders that is hard to break. It is a hard york believe me. Zambians usually find no way out and I still wonder how people manage to survive. Poverty is a disease caused by irresponsible leadership.
Woooww.. Interesting…. Wina azalila….. always…….
Interesting… wina azalila …always…
Paranoid Presidents, like all minds in a crisis, share one problem. They fear their own shadows and fail to distinguish sense from nonsense. Criticism is anathema. They surround themselves with yes-men who agree with anything without forethought.
Unfortunately, Aspiring presidents in mother Zambia all view being in the opposition as being enemies of the ruling party not realising their unique position enabling them great opportunity to provide checks and balances to the sitting government. Opposition party Presidents fail to tap the yawning opportunities to advise government and demonstrate to voters their capacity to formulate and devise workable solutions to the various problems besetting the country..
Zambians will know which party has answers from criticisms being made on…
Zambians will know which party has answers from the criticisms being made on government.
Lifwekelo may have uttered nonsense (in my view) on other matters but, this time round, their is some sense in his observation. HH and Sata need to harness they strength into one credible formidable opposing to put the MMD on their toes. MMD should be put in a position where they will be very sure that any mess up, and they will be gone. Then only shall we be certain that the MMD will not fire technocrats at will, they will not manipulate the AGs chambers, and they will not pursue any thoughtless pursuits without looking over their shoulders. Divided, the opposition will never win
Tobomutwe or selemani pls! Mwilabako na zigolo. On a serious note, what is Lifwekelo’s constituency? If he’s still searching for leadership let him to come here at LT.
Mr Sata! Wow! This man does not know who he is dealing with. Mr Sata is a very vindictive and dangerous man who does not allow his enemies real or perceived any breathing space. People who criticise RB today would have long been dealt with ever so severely had Mr Sata been President. Mr Mmembe would have gone into exile by now. Sata was Chiluba’s political bruiser. He could mobilise vigilantes to visit anyone who said ‘nkwee, nkwee!’ As President he would have unleashed 10 thousand Nakawalas on his critics.
RB please give Lifwekelo a job,his desperate.Please
Who’s this Lifwekelo boy??????
It is Lifwefimofimo who is irrelevant. Don’t waste our time, you id.iota. You just spend time sitting in Chicken Licken which has become your office.
To be honest, I don’t know much about him but from my wildest dreams I think he’s a spoiled brat not worth missing the Barca-Chealsea game for.
Blah!! blah, blah blah. from Lifwekelo again and again, he is so full of lip service as far as i know! By the way, he is probably the only member of that Forum for Leadership search!
Someone please give this Lifwekelo a job. @shani Jam@co !
Mfwe mfwe mfwe ka Lifwekelo
# 30 bwino!! This Lifwe fimo fimo should scratch the president’s back to achieve his goals!! Whatever these goals may be..
Wow when is his friend Cosmos speaking up! It seems there is one born every minute. Is it not nice we have high speed communication; We can read about all this chatter and say something. Question, who really runs LT? I have nothing much to add.
I do not dispute his entitlement to his opinion and views on national issues, but is this Lifwekelo chap really worth the media attention that LT gives him? Increasingly makes me wonder what LT is all about, really!
ma labishi,am just waitting for the kingdom of GOD to come, all zambian politicians are nonsence,pf,hh bwezani, lifwekelo ma labishi..
LT is pro MMD thats why they never report on other people but MMD supporters or idio ts like Lifwekelo.
lifwekelo was once Transparency international president (zambia office). maybe he now needs a job – why not? dont we all? after all abene sata and HH keep talking and can’t unseat MMD ….
3 Njinga yobweleka, Edwin Lifwekelo is riding ‘freedom of speach and association’. Just tell him niwachabechabe muzunguwanga anikonda. Lifwekelo, Cosmos Mumba etc. are the same. they represent the same person.
Lifwe fomo fimo whats the job of the opposition? is to monitor party in government and offer constructive critizisim.
Where is Sakwiba Sikota the biggest job seeker who has not been given a job up to now? He is a big disgress and I am sure he is regreting supportin RB during elections.
So sad that Lifwe something can be a news maker! happens Only in Zambia. Why do journalists tolerate him?
Who is this Lifwekelo
There he goes again.LIfwepakunya.
He always wants to do things to the contrary.
Its nyamazai (the hand behind you) who is infact irrelevant
I think the ultimate reason the opposition does not offer any solutions is because they have got no solutions.
Their comfort zone is at criticizing and insulting the ruling govt without offering any solutions because they don’t know how to solve the country’s problem.
They try to dig up and find any faults at all solutions govt implements and do not offer any alternative measures.
Maybe that is why they did not attend the INDABA, probably because the opposition does not have any suggestions.
You are very right Mr. Lifwkelo though I will disagree with you on one point, PF is kind of relevant though they will never win an election because majority cannot vote for PF. UPND is completely irrelevant.
#38, don’t mislead yourself and the bloggers on here. lifwe fimo fimo has never been TI zambia chater president. provide evidence for that. he is a misplaced chap bent on ill advising the powers that be.
#43, I think you don’t really follow the news. for once HH went to state house to meet this RB of yours. Sata too has been speaking sense and you RB does not listen. come guys let give credit where it is due. Our current govt has failed us and that is the truth, lets not find scaoe goats on the opposition. what has happened to the INDABA solutions? apolitical gathering on taxpayers money. waste o f time.
Cosmo, Siulapwa and Lifweluko are job seekers but not in their life time will they ever be given one!
come on guys
scape goats
If people have given solutions to this gov and they decide not to listen, should they keep quiet? hell no!!!!
People like you Edwin Lifwekelo you are the one who brings Zambia backwards, because you have no idea on how the opposition should work or operate. I have been outside Zambia for some time now, and I have seen how opposition leaders works, they are there to see and make sure the government is to doing its job in modern democracy in other words to provide check and balances. But people like you who are always on the receiving end of the political party in power; you do not do our country any good. Sata and HH good job make Lupiya dance please you should not let him become comfortable like Mugabe who thinks he owns Zimbabwe. And you Edwin Lifwekelo go to Hell.
Lifwekelo is becoming an irrite.Seems hes a politically frustrated i-d-i-o-t
The duty of OPPOSITION is to try and form the next gvt and to check the sitting gvt. In Africa the sitting gvts are always trying to kill off all opposition hence the hostile stance by the opposition. Mr. Lifwekelo is only making a living out of his NGO and not seriously contributing to our general well being. Let him bark at the moon and be sure he will not touch it.
These two have been irrelevant from the past elections.
START A PRESIDENT’S QUESTION TIME IN ZAMBIA
Who is this irrelevant chap lifweleko? I have never heard of him or his organisation so who is irrelevant here?
