Secretary General, Bob Kayukwa has called on Zambia National Team’s technical bench to maintain the team that played Rwanda in a joint 2010 Africa/World cup qualifiers on Saturday.

Kayukwa told ZANIS sports that the team should be maintained adding that it should be reinforced with other players who were not called during their camp in South Africa last month.

He added that the team performed well on Saturday but failed to produce more goals because they were under pressure to impress the fans and that they had also underestimated their opponent.

He said the team should include two or more players to beef up the squad when they regroup in Lusaka today after wining Rwanda 1-0 in a game played at Konkola stadium in Chililabombwe on Saturday.

The win by Zambia on Saturday means that the Southern African nation tops the group jointly with Algeria who trounced Egyptian Pharoahs 3-1 in Algiers, yesterday.

Kayukwa has urged the team to continue working hard so that they can qualify for the two tournaments next year.

He has meanwhile appealed to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to take advantage of the FIFA day on Wednesday to organize an international friendly match for the Chipolopolo boys.

Kayukwa said unlike Rwanda, Algeria is a strong side hence the need to put the team under intensive training.

He said Zambia should utilize this day to prepare the Chipolopolo boys and gauge some players who will be called to the team or those who did not play in the Saturday’s encounter.

Zambia is today re-grouping in Lusaka to start preparation for the Algeria game that will be played on June 20th at Konkola stadium in Chililabombwe.

Algeria share four points with Zambia after two games, while Rwanda and Egypt has one point each from two games. And Algeria plays Zambia on 20th of June while Rwanda and Egypt game has been canceled as Egypt will be participating in the confederations cup in South Africa.

  1. useless, suddenly you become coaches… Can u let the man in charge make his own decisions. If he is to use you ideas and he fails you will be the first to heap burning charcoal on his head

  2. Leave everything to the coach he knows the best. As for C. Mbesuma like someone said, please Sumo Wrestling can do you.

  3. weldone thats a step forward but pull up your soaks guys on the score sheet. For now it’s anybody’s game don’t squander the opportunity. Go Zambia we are behind you.

  4. Mbesuma, maybe he should be given another chance after failing a penalt does not mean that he is a ba d player. The coarch will decide on this one

  5. I like the fact that “Fat Albert” has apologised to the nation, a sign of maturity and seriousness, let the coach assess him in a friendly game if at all there will be any.

  6. Mbesuma shouldnt play…..
That boy has become too fat and slow. He wouldnt even play in some of Zed clubs.
Lets be serious and play good players, not names.

  7. Ba mbesuma ba li pwafye.too much ubwanga baich.you cant just play unless you visite your grandfather in the village.be real baiche.

  8. About 2-3 weex ago, a pannel on ZNBC “talking futbo”, argued that Renard haz enough strikerz at hiz dispozal and therefore no need to consider “Zambianizing” the current top scorer in the FAZ/KCM league, Lubemba of ZANACO FC. Found the discussion led by 1 DJ DAZO very interesting and wonder how it wud go now with our slender victory over Rwanda…..

  9. Imwe fi whatever, leave everything to the coach. There can only be one coach at a time. Even the assessment of Mbesuma’s necessity in the squad lies with the coach.

  10. Zambianize all the strikers from wherever they come. I feel we need Mayuka up front. He should be groomed and as it is he is much better than ‘slow-motion’ Chamanga and ‘aimless’ Chavuta.

  11. I’m too sorry for Mbesuma to say anything bad about him. I feel his anger could make him a danger-man in tough games like Egypt. I’d try him then.

  12. Hat-trick? I bet the Algerians have to be very rough making about 9 penalties all to be taken by Mbesuma.

  13. Ba Kayukwa, what do you mean Zambia should utilise Wednesday, which is a FIFA day? Ala boss kuno bulaya ni summer ino, ulusuba, and the games are over for this season. Ngakwatalala elyo bakatampa ukuteya umupila, for now all the players are on Holiday bwana.
Tell ba FAZ nangu ba Konkola to water the ground, I am sure even Collins efyo apushile penalty the ground was very bad, I remember Beckham also slipped just at the point of taking a penalty and missed badly. Lets hope Mbesuma will get over it and work harder for the next game, I feel we should not judge him too harshly, since he is as Zambian as all of us.

  14. Ala these Ballies who want to be pros yaba,na idea ya bola Zero but nkani ya ku bwata bwata bwata number 1,Leave the coach 2 do what he is paid for.Ala ba Mbesuma Malilo “hat trick where ?If you put Mbesuma and Rupiah Banda together people would mistake Mbesuma for Bwezani….Good milile yapwisha Career.

  15. That’s what Zambians are good at. (Talking) You all behave as if you share the same mother. Just leave everything to the coach. Most of you are ignorant about Zambian football. I have watched Mbesuma play the whole season at Amakhosi. The guy cannot be compared to any of the current crop of players you have. The two Katongo brothers, Isaac Chansa, Davies Mwape, Perry Mutapa, The 3 Songwe brothers, Kilambe, Lota at that time was with Swallows (the birds) all played in the PSL League but only Mbesuma made some of us Zambians who at that time where living in South Africa very proud. Leave the guy and focus on Algeria who will beat Zambia at Konkola. watch this space

  16. Algeria beating Zambia at Konkola? I bet we will have quite a game. Algeria couldn’t score in the first half and scored all goals in first 17 minutes of the second half. I suspect the problem might have been Egyptian overconfidence. We have to be careful with them in the opening minutes coz they seem to come on the pitch with confidence. If we frustrate them long enough they might get tired and leave loop-holes.

  17. drop Mbesuma and use professionals only…we neeed experienced and exposed players to win

and I know we will win…..Reinhard is a wise man

  18. don’t rule out Mbesuma just as yet, starting line up should include Jacob mulenga and James Chamanga. And should coach should stop making useless substitutions.

  19. Even baggio at his peak missed a penalty in 1994 what are you talking about? I would imagine a Mbola/Fwayo combination ku left would do wonders. Fwayo needs to be guided otherwise the youngman will end up like everyone of our sportsmen. He has the skill and confidence going by what he showed in Egypt
