Chirundu councillor complains of bad roads

Chirundu councillor, Gift Chanda, has appealed to the Road Development Agency to quickly start working on township roads before the rainy reason.

Mr Chanda complained that it is displeasing to see a poor and dilapidated road network in a township like Chirundu where the government collects a lot revenue from the border.

“The road network in Chirundu is quite pathetic. Most of the roads are bad and I would urge the government to move in quickly and work on the road network,” he said.

He observed that Chirundu has the best police station as well as the newly constructed Zambia Revenue Authority and Immigration offices, but the bad roads make the whole town look ugly.

The ward councillor further appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing to source funds in order to put up a modern bus stop in Chirundu.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda has appealed to Zambia Wildlife Authority officials to help control the elephants that were crossing into the township from Zimbabwe and terrorizing people in the area.

  1. Bwana Chanda mwashibukeni yama.I am not sure if you have any say on the main Chirundu Kafue road it is deplorable In 2007 I drove on it, was okay 2009 its gone nje you and your area MP must go and make some noise in Lusaka hq Bwezani snd his clonies must csll RSA contractors to redo the road It is another hell run

  2. Ba Chanda, Roads are not a blame. Complain about your national leaders who are not taking care of you. Have you ever head RB complain that the roads to state house are dilapidated? Money for roads is paid by Zambians through tax. National Leaders even boasts year year that they have collected more money in tax than they planned. But they have never boasted that they have repaired more roads than they planned. In Zambia, a national leader is more important than his people… Nga RB atandala ku Chirundu, bana mayo baya mukayashingulusha ati baleshanina bakateka.

  3. So Chanda, Councillor, cheat RB that in 2011, Chirundu will not vote for him because roads are dilapidated. Since he knows that a vote is very important, he may help… Come on…you are a politician. You belong to politcal vampires. Use tricks to ahve roads repaired… Roads Department is a wrong institutions…
