Kitwe businessman and former light heavyweight boxing champion Lemmy “Lion of Kitwe” Chipili has died.

Chipili, 62, died in Kitwe on Sunday at Kitwe Central Hospital after a long illness.

His son Happy Chipili confirmed the former boxers death and added that his father had been unwell for the last year.

He said Chipili had been admitted at Kitwe Central for the last one month.

The late Chipili also served as MP for Kamfinsa in the early 90’s and later appointed as Zambia’s consul general in Lubumbashi in the DR Congo.

Chipili also played rugby with Kitwe Playing Fields and was also an avid musician who sang vocals.

  7. Thank you LT for announcing Hon. Lemmy Chipili’s demise. I am just surprised that his death announcement was so quiet as if he was not at one time MP and diplomat. I should have even expected Former second President to send condolences as he had already decided to go to Solwezi for Hon. Teta’s funeral.
