President Rupiah Banda has directed Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane to immediately release funds for the roofing of teachers’ houses at Chilongoshi Basic School in Chief Munkonge’s area in Kasama District.

Finance Minister disclosed the development in Chilongoshi on Monday.
This was at a rally to drum up support for MMD parliamentary candidate in the Kasama Central bye-election Burton Mugala.

Dr. Musokotwane assured the people in the area that the teachers’ houses would be roofed before the end of the year.
And President Banda has commended teachers at Chilongoshi basic school for their commitment to duty despite the many challenges they face.

President Banda said he was touched that they had decided to stay in the rural area to offer education to children, whom he described as the future of the nation.

Mr. Banda assured the teachers that government would do everything within its powers to ensure that life is made much easier for them.

And addressing the pupils before addressing a rally, President Banda advised the children to be focused and aim to complete their education.

President Banda told the kids that he was once like them and that they would also get to be like him once they concentrated on their education.

He said like some of them, his parents were not educated but fought hard to ensure that he got educated.

Mr. Banda encouraged the pupils to continue investing their time in education because this would determine their future when they grow up.

President Banda who spent some time to plant a tree at the school mingled with the excited kids and introduced some of the ministers in his entourage to the children.

  1. It may appear that areas that are neglected tend to receive some sort of development(or promise) only when there is a by election.

  2. How ? The Minister of Finance should explain to the Tax Payers where in the budget this money was allocated and also point in the budget where the other towns and provinces have the same allocation. If the money needs to be released it needs to be released at the same time for other towns and provinces, this is Tax payers money and it should be seen to benefit all the taxpayers. There is a need for a copy of the budget to be in a lay man’s language so that every tax payer can understand and follow every move on the budget unlike the current situation where only a few understand the technical jargon.

  3. This is the worst and most corrupt president in the world. His behaviour is stinking to the heavens. That is not the only school with such problems in zambia, let go round the rural areas and discover what Zambia is under the MMD govt. The country is becoming poorer, shame upon you devil Banda

  4. Politics is bad though I want to join. So because of elections RB orders for the rehabilitation of a school. where was the district administrator or the ministry of education.
Guys we need Change. Political system Change

  5. Kwena uku ekutumpa. Ubunama nomba has reached its peak. Why now? Zambia nomba is the only country were ukutumpa is part of a qualification for Presidency.

  6. Is this not moral corruption if I may ask? Senior citizen, patriot and the other fellow, not forgetting your sister Natalie please for once read this post and comment with a non biased concious. I have criticised Sata, Hichilema, even General Miyanda the true moral democrat I have not spared on his non agressive approach to fight for our causes. Thus our country’s president is first on my list of fundamental piece meal study of personas; thus I give credit when it’s due, but in this case I support the 20% of our nation who are tax payers. If their money is to be used to repair a roof on a classroom then all of them are entitled to all their children having free basic education with no puppetry mechanics.

  7. My worry is,we have leaders who can only THINK when when they need a poor Zambian to support them. Honestly this Minister of Finance is educated enough to make good decisions on his own but look at him,he is busy make announcements for the province/district education officers. I wonder how our economy is being run. Surely we are seeing all this and still vote for such leaders. Are we going to start killing our MP’s so that we can see development during by-elections?

  8. Imwe mwebantu surely this is stupidity at its best,is this how important decisions are made?on impulse? This must be frustrating on the silent technocrats who have to ignore procedure all in the name of winning a bye election. Ba Kasama, surely you can see ati this is cheap politicking, SPEAK with the bullot pa voting day

  9. Chitimukulu, the paramount chief of the Bemba people, has questioned Michael Sata’s decision to pick a white man as his vice-president. Chitimukulu wonders as to who would replace Sata as president of the Republic if he died in office leaving Dr Guy Scott as his vice-president. He goes further to say that Zambians fought for independence and having a white man, Guy, as Republican president would mean the independence struggle was in vain.
This is a clear case of racial discrimination on the Chitimukulu’s part.

Chitimukulu has the right to support or belong to the ruling MMD, but has no right to subject Guy to racial discrimination.

The Constitution of the Republic of Zambia protects Guy from racial discrimination. And it is unfortunate that the Chitimukulu was saying all…

  10. #10 Deja Vu. This in the Post. How desperate can one be? Guy Scott worked with MMD to dismantle UNIP and no one saw his color then. What this useless and r o t t e n chief should realise is that noone in this country (may the Tongas) is originally from here: we are all settlers from God knows. The fact that Guy is white does not deprive him the right to participate in our politics. This i d i o t should also know that OBAMA’s roots are from Kenya but he is President of USA a country belonging to Red Indians.

  11. Surprise surprise! RB must really think we are gullible. What has prompted this urgent need to roof the school in Kasama? Yes the school should be fixed, but so must other schools all over the country. Re Guy Scott being VP of PF, with respect to Chiti Mukulu, he is completely out of touch with reality. Chiti Mukulu should leave politics to the Politicians. We are in the 21st century, not the stone age.

  12. And this is the Finance Minister we have entrusted to look after our resources. What i d i o c y!!!
We have no hope of Zambia developing with such kind of leaders.
It is said that, “What GOD has not done for man, man must do”. So use your vote to get rid of the USELESS MMD.

  13. Is this how Govt is being run.. RB the National Treasury ifs not your bank account.. Its our money not yours you imbicile.. Where the hell have you been all time.. You are definately not one of Zambia’s best brains.. The Chinese Coal mines are crying for business and you are not there to address their plight when energy in in demand all over the world.. not to mention our thermo power genration plants in Notrth Western province!!! Useless.

  14. These politicians are cheating the pipo. Does it mean all along no Govt official knew that the schools roof got blown off sometime back. Its gud by elctions bring about some small level quick development as political parties want to out do each other. Otherwise after 15th it will be the same old story.
