Richard Sakala attacks LAZ and disbanded Task Force

Share

Former State House Press Aide, Richard Sakala has castigated the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) for demanding the resignation of Director of Public Relations (DPP) Chalwe Muchenga.

Mr. Sakala said the demand by LAZ for the DPP to resign is not only illegal but and irregular but also shows the worst hypocrisy on the part of LAZ.

He has since accused the association of being politically inclined.

Mr. Sakala said this at press briefing in Lusaka today where he also launched his book “Mockery of Justice” experience with the criminal justice system (2001-2008)

The former State House Press Aide said he was disturbed that LAZ was becoming political instead of instead of defending the constitutions of Zambia .

He said he was jailed by the now disbanded Tasks Force on corruption which was an illegal entity but the LAZ failed to act on it despite him requesting its intervention.

He said LAZ appears to be very selective in the cause they champion accusing them of been silent and turning a blind eye to gross abuses.[quote]

Mr. Sakala has since called on LAZ to be fair in the dealing arguing them to uphold the constitution of Zambia.

“I was personally prosecuted and sent to prison by the task force on corruption which was totally an illegal and unconstitutional body.

” I wrote to LAZ for their intervention but my complaint has been left pending on their file. This is neither just, fair nor proper “he said.

Mr. Sakala has also called for the opening of investigations in the establishment of the task force on corruption where more than US$ 25 million was spend.

He charged that LAZ are now attempting to demonize and eliminate the Vice President as a way to divert attention from the gross financial and legal abuses by the Task force.

Mr. Sakala has also observed that unfair and unbalanced stance by LAZ and some section of the media have the potential to disrupt the peace and order the country has enjoyed since independence.

  1. I don’t think it is right to send someone to jail for speaking his mind out. There are a bunch of truth in what Mr. Sakala is saying. Many things are not right with the LAZ. I don’t even know why such organizations exist. Like the Task Force, Laz should also go,. It has no use.

  2. When did this corrupt element come out of jail? Surely he hasn’t repented and the judges should send him back where he rightly belongs.

  3. Whenever an organisation or institution opposes govt it is deemed to be political or irrelevant. The same will happen to the soo called Media Regulatory body if it is formed. The Task Force was disbanded because it’s then chairman opposed govt’s view on Chiluba’s appeal. This is a clear indication that the current govt belongs to the stone age, it belongs to the Kaunda era where opposing views are not torelated. It is clear that all those calling for LAZ’s disbandment or the resignation of it’s chairman are either sponsored by the govt or are Chiluba’s allies. One wonders if this is a calculated attempt by Chiluba and RB to silence all those calling for the appeal on Chiluba’s case.

  4. We seem to hav people holding high positions in very important boards of the country with imature brain growth, corrupt *****s with crippled mentalities, what we might term chainama rejects in need of special treatment to atleast not comprise with peoples’ lives at stake, we need people that will nt be controlld by longer hands of money in nid of money, LAZ pullup yo socks avoid been controlled.

  5. Criminals are back! Chiluba free…Convicted criminal Sakala now talking, actually his book should be named” insulting the dead president 2001- 2008″ because this is the period LP ruled. Please 2011 come sooner than soon!

  6. As long as Rupiya Banda is in power, its survival of the corrupt. We all know how much this man stole from the PHI project and national housing authority. People where are we heading to?

  7. This man shud just shut up, No one will ever be interested in reading your book Bbaba, just like one blogger says ” it’s an insult”u shud have rotted in the gallows, As for LAZ somehow this lazo is right- you must operate independently. Sakala iwe if you never benefited, then kupwalala kwako. However you know who took the dough and that makes you answerable coz of the position you held during kafupi’s reign…….period!

  8. Sakala has a point. You have to read the book. Levy, Mmembe and Nchito literally abused state power through threats ans their desire to silence Chiluba. The UK and other powers bought into the scheme and that explains why the Task Force was a worst of money. They failed to pin Chiluba in over 8 years. Now Mmembe is panicking coz he has been unmasked and now his coffin is just around the corner.

  9. Isn’t there a Law against convicted felonies and criminals? This man was very arrogant during Chiluba’s reign and he is still arrogant. If nothing is done, Dickson Jere will think it does pay to behave like this.

Richard Sakala was convicted by the courts in Zamba through the Task Force he is calling illegal which was put in place with the help of the very Vice President Kunda.

  10. This is Zambia and now we will hear Chiluba wants to stand on MMD ticket so that he can appoint Rupiah Banda as his corrupt Vice President. Viva corrupt Zambia Viva corrupt MMD

  11. It sounds like Mr Sakala is contesting only the legality of the body that sent him to jail. He did not touch on his innocence or lack thereof. I would not like to delve into the legalities of the former task force because I am not a lawyer but it is telling that he is trying to clear his name on a technicality. He needs to clear his name using facts, that is the only way he would have any credibility, right now, he is just blowing a lot of hot air.

  12. Let’s also face it – FTJ who stole millions has never been to jail. LPM failed to wire the ka guy. Ba Sakala was just used to show that the fight against corruption was “real”.

  13. This convict, he is talking of the Task Force being an illegal entity, what about PHI from where he was convicted?

  14. Why is it that people come out of prison desperate, confused and just looking insane??
I remember a statement sometime back that Sakala lost his plot whislt in prison where he spent his time in the library. Lets hope his “prison operating manual” will be distributed free of charge.
Wapya baisa!!!! The criminals are back.

  15. Chimangeni futi, just because you want to sell your book it does not mean you can go out publicly condem what others are doing NOW, it is exactly what you did when you were FTJ number one microphone, can someone send that stupid man back Munjema

  16. Wow….people of God..why so much hatred? He did his time, let him speak….this mentality of casting the first stone is not good for our nation.

  17. Thieves have no shame at all. Reading about his complaint, it seems to be one against the legality of the prosecuting authority that sent him to jail as opposed to the overwhelming evidence on whose basis he was locked up. I once worked with Sakala at the UN in Nairobi, together with Dr. Inonge Lewanika who was then UNICEF Regional Adviser. Sakala caused shame upon the Zambian diplomatic community when he got fired from the UN for using the UN diplomatic status to buy cars without paying tax which he later sold on the Kenyan black market. After Chiluba failed to curve out a thid term, his thieving ways caught up with him and he was jailed for stealing. No wonder, I will never trust any one called SAKALA-NYONGO! The jail bird should just shut up!

  18. His victims should sue for his profits based on this book is “The proceeds of crime”.
If he mentions his crime to make a profit that is criminal.

  19. #2. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Task force functions. In Change management it is called Matrix structure, it des not need endorsing by an Act. All that is done is people with various experinces are given a particular task. this is called output based performance. Richard Sakala is a case of sour grapes. He was untouchable in FTJ days. As the Easterners said days are numbered, and the Bembas say Masiku salingana onse!
