BY DAVIS MATAKA
Oh! What a week and if you are a keen follower of the Press and politics in Zambia, these last seven days must have gone down as some of the most interesting in a long time. The issues of infidelity, or alleged infidelity, the so called “secret families exposé’s- haa! What a mouth full.
As the foray continues to unfold, I decided it would be of utmost interest to the public to again dedicate this week to some of the developments, which occurred, and what the implications to society this could have.
Not so long ago, the international Press was awash with headlines about the other life of golf icon Tiger Woods who was almost clubbed by his wife for alleged infidelity and was only saved courtesy of a fire hydrant in which his car rammed as he dared an escape from his enraged wife. He ended up with a concussion.
The fall-out, an emotional apology to his wife, the golfing fraternity and a couple of few millions of dollars in lost franchises from what the morally upright, seemingly unblemished and judgmental business society felt would harm their cause.
Another scandal was that of Chelsea Football club captain John Terry who reportedly took the lover of a teammate and I can assure you they never lived happily ever after- for the footballer; he lost the England captain’s armband and a lot of respect from his colleagues.
Nearer home, the story of Jacob Zuma and his many wives spiraled out of control with critics calling him all manner of names.
But the Zulu South African president came out of it almost unscathed and believe it or not, we hear he is about to take another wife into his kraal, man he must be a charmer!
I know this may not settle well with most of our women folk who may not resist to call me a “Male chauvinist………” but look here, it takes two to tangle and I doubt so much if the numerous Mrs. Zumas could be bundled in the category of vulnerable.
Anyway, Zuma himself has acknowledged that he is a Zulu traditionalist and his culture permits him to take on as many wives as he can afford.
And depending from which pedestal of high moral standard you are criticising there is always justification for what you are doing or not doing.
Factors like cultural orientation: Western or African, religious standing, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, atheist or otherwise, all these situations in their variation will determine how to live your life and by what standard you will be judged.
The problem I seem to have is where people want to employ double standards in their lives- wanting to have the best of all worlds.
Mr Michael Sata inadvertently questioned the morality of Dr Frederick Chiluba who was traversing the length and breadth of the Copperbelt singing praise of President Rupiah Banda’s sound economic policies.
When Mr Sata touched on the marriage of the former president to his blushing bride Regina, he did not realise that he would open a Pandora’s box.
Now we are privy to all sorts of carefully tucked away family secrets, which surely should have remained where they were, away in the closets.
I am very disappointed with the clergy and especially the Roman Catholic Church leadership in Zambia who have conspicuously kept quiet over these allegations of impropriety on the part of Mr Sata.
Several Press queries over the matter to the Catholic Church over the same have gone unanswered or the people spoken have continued to dodge the questions.
What I am seeing here is a case of double standards being employed by the Church, (Roman Catholics) why have they not made a stand over the matter up to now.
Or do we take it that there is indeed substance in the allegations that Mr Sata’s “concubine” is indeed related to some senior Church leader.
The Catholics themselves have not been immune to such allegations over sexual misbehavior and the Pope is on record apologising to victims of those sexually abused by some too “active” prelates, some of whom have been accused of homosexuality.
Why the fuss about Mr Sata?
Well he is a national leader seeking to take over the reigns of power at the highest order and the sooner he publicly apologises to all, the better the chances of him getting on the track of his national agenda.
The Catholics are not doing him a favour either by trying to mask him from the shame and fall from grace after the revelations.
The questions are still begging for the Catholic fraternity to either publicly condemn him or defend and praise him for what he has done.
Or do we conclude that for some Catholic priests there is too much to hide that the moment they condemn Mr Sata, someone from their past will spill the beans about children they sired and hid from society just to gain acceptance in the eyes of the public and to be able to sway in the robes and gowns of the Church as they drink wine from the chalices of copper and break the holy Eucharist bread?
We all look up to the Church for spiritual direction and blessings and keeping quiet about such scandal and only crying wolf when an honorable member of Parliament is captured on camera blinking, but with his eyes closed is an abuse of this God given calling.
Let us as Catholics be seen to also condemn our flock when there is a wrong or injustice done.
At the rate things are going, the partisan stance that some leaders of the Church have taken, especially the Catholic Church which is very respected around the world can be its undoing.
Maybe we should instead petition the Pope to put this matter to rest?
Leaders regardless of which religious orientation they subscribe must live by their doctrines and not to want to borrow what they think is the best for them.
[Times of Zambia]
Mataka, we know you are MMD, you are paid by MMD, so what can you tell us, you should also keep your wife well, do not go round with small girls. we know you, so do not come here in LT, stay with Times Of Zambia. We know you, do not start it,
#1, your post is short but more clear than this article, you are sensible and wise. Let Mataka keep quite and keep his minority views to himself.
Very true. I am saddened that the man who I had put all my faith in has betrayed his own wife thrice. First he betrayed his first wife and ran away with the girlfriend who has now become the current wife and now he betrays her twice with two kids outside of marriage. What a shame Mr. Sata. How can we trust you and expect you to live up to your promises when you have failed to keep the promise you made to both your wives?
I think Change for the sake of Change is not good for Zambia. Maybe we should wait for 2016 when young educated men are given a chance to rule this country.
In my country a scandal like this brings an end to ones political career. Once we had an MP who had an affair with his secretary and when it was exposed, he resigned on moral grounds. But then again, we europeans expect a very high moral standard from our politicians. This is why we dont accept failure as an excuse. I guess Africa is very different, hence the bulk of its leaders are womanizers and thieves.
Mataka, you are right on!……………………………Sata and the Catholic church will never be the same, damage has, i mean has beeeeeen done. Nomata what their sympathizaz may say, The Don unleashed a weapon of mass distration in tha camp
I thought Matako was suppoed to give light on the sex scandals and not make this his podium to get a dig at MCS. What a low move this is Matako.
Now it is time to open your pandora’s box Davis.
You like going to Chongwe with women you are not married to. Your favourite haunt is Nkausu’s guest house almost opposite Makumbiro.
Nice read but too late some Catholic leader in Eastern Province or so has already condemned Mr PF/ Sata MC’s behaviour.
I just hope the Catholic Church will now be known by those who have been doubting my writing over a long time concerning that church’s failure to uphold the Holy Scriptures in Truth and in Spirit.
Have a blessed day all.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Davies Mataka the moralist! You are also known for lobbying for cheap sex from young girls who come for attachment at Times of Zambia. Promising young girls jobs in exchange for sex how cheap! Careful Davies before we offload more data on you!
Educate me people. Isn’t polgamy allowed under the Bemba tradition (like the Zulus)? Incidentally, what religion is Zuma?
The story will nevr end.:):):):)>-
Its a shame to see issues that are suppose to be between husband and wife discussed in the public. Its like the whole world has become holy wood were tabloids wants to make money out of others misery.
Having said that, leaders should behave themselves coz so many young pipo look upto them. You can wonder what type of message Sata and Chiluba are sending to our kids. Both of them should apologize and go in bed together to sort out their issues.
The author of this article sayz he iz dissappointed withe clergy and in particular the Catholic church who conspicouosly silent about Sata’z alleged impropriety. The church preachez moral uprightness deviod of sin and in line with the Bible teachingz. But who told you that the church iz some captao or prefect that goez round whipping wrong-doerz?
Question character of presidential aspirants —Anglican Church
THE Anglican Council of Zambia (ACZ) has appealed to Zambians to scrutinise political leaders aspiring for the Republican presidency so that people with questionable backgrounds do not occupy the highest office of the land.
ACZ presiding Bishop Robert Mumbi said the people of Zambia and the Church should screen politicians and ensure that they elect morally upright people as president.
Bishop Mumbi said the Church did not ordain people with questionable morals as clerics and that should also apply to politicians aspiring for national leadership.
He said issues of morality were for Zambians to decide, based on the country’s values, and that, just like in the Church, the citizens should give specific guidelines on the moral requirements for public office.
“The Church requires that those that are ordained as clergy are morally upright, with one wife, sound mind and various other requirements, and they are offered to the public for scrutiny,” he said.
Bishop Mumbi said Zambians should similarly decide the calibre of people to lead the country.
He said if possible, matters of morality should be contained in the Republican Constitution, although not as a way to bar some individuals from holding higher political offices.
“Paul in the Bible says that the goodness of the law is that it shows our weaknesses and if our weakness as a people is the lack of good morals, then we should consider putting up laws that will address this weakness,” he said.
He said by carefully scrutinising leaders who were looking to be elected to public office, Zambians would be helping to promote morality in the country.
Meanwhile, the Church has urged the Anglican community to push for ordination of female clergy.
Bishop Mumbi said it was important that the calls came from the lay people in the church and that the upcoming meeting of diocese in the Central African Province in August was likely to table the matter.
Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation has challenged the Roman Catholic Church to explain its doctrine of taking Holy Communion by its members suspected to have more than one wife or having known extramarital relationships .
The Authentic Advocates for Justice and Democracy (AAJD) has accused the Catholic Church of playing double standards in the manner it was addressing issues concerning its members.
AAJD general secretary Laiford Mwanza and his publicity secretary, Josephat Changwe said in a statement yesterday that it was questionable as to why the church had not responded to allegations that second Republican president Frederick Chiluba raised during his Press briefing a fortnight ago concerning some of its members who were receiving the Holy Sacrament when actually they…
Mr Mwanza said two years ago, Dr Chiluba mistakenly received the Holy Communion in the Catholic Church and the Church leadership came out strongly to condemn him.
“Why are they now quiet about the revelations Dr Chiluba made at his Press briefing,” he asked.
The AAJD also accused the Catholic Church of being politically driven and always wanting to attack the Government without justification.
Mr Mwanza and Mr Changwe said it was surprising that out of the many churches in Zambia, the Catholic Church was the only one that seemed more politically inclined and always confrontational to the Government.
They have since appealed to Government to consider making an official complaint to the Catholic Church motherbody in Italy against the alleged political conduct by most of its priests in Zambia.
However, Zambia Episcopal Conference spokesperson, Father Paul Samasumo said most concerns raised by the AAJD would be addressed by the Catholic Church at its Press conference today.
For most men it seems, it is easier to keep your mouth shut than the trousers zipper. In fact the moment you talk about somebody else’s s.e.x.u.a.l immorality, then a “crowd” will dowload your baggage of “sins”. Have you ever wondered, who sleeps in all these guest houses scattered all over Lusaka? Most of the visitors dont stay longer than 2hours……I hear.
Takke Sata in rehabilitation and stop him take mutunda imbuzi (Mbuzi).
# 14, The Anglican Church just picked a Gay Priest as their leader. What a mockery of morality from the church you are citing. Do some research about these churches you think they are preaching good morals. Probably they too need to scrutinize their leaders even better.
Oh gay, is a bad word? Ok Homo.
Mwata you are at it again. we keep telling you that its not for the pope to decide on such a matter. imagine if the pope or the bishop had to adress such issues everyday. Dont display your ignorance to everyone.
Gentlemen unleash more data on the sex life of this guy davies, he thinks he is a saint. atase
The problem with Sata and the likes of him (and they are many in Zambia) is that they are dishonest, dishonorable & hypocrites. Why does he consider himself a catholic when he does not believe in catholic doctrines & does not live by them? Obviously, this is a chap not to be trusted. He can live by fake pretence until he gets what he wants. He is driven only by his lust & that alone seems to be his “raison d’être”.
Mwamona ba Davis mwasebana. You should never try to come holier than your neighbour nomba data yafuma. Whether its correct or not mwasebana tata.
I don’t see why the Catholic Church is being dragged into this. Whatever happened between Sata and the bishops sister is between the two of them. The fact that she is a relative of the bishop does not mean anything. Iwe mambala Mataka, voetsek with your propaganda. Give us balanced stories instead of this rubbish
Just want to clarify something regarding Zuma, cultural poligamy is one thing but having s.e.x and impregnating woman out of wedlock is another. Not even the Zulu culture allows that without going through proper channels[-(
kwindi kodjo i think those trying to drag the catholic church just want to make noise. i suggest we just leave them and let them yap after all we know Zambian are good at it and at one point they will stop. They are very comfortable when their brief case pastors support the government of the day but when the catholics spek they are number 1 to jump off their chairs to condemn. So my brother let them make noise and we will laugh at them in the background. after all the church will never be broken
BREAKING NEWS! Archbishop Mpundu has a press conference and he has attacked Chiluba and Shikapwasha mercilessly and he says there is no marriage between Sata and his sister. He has also said no amount of intimidation and bullying will stop Catholics-they are unstoppable!
Number 4 u r an ass. Promiscuity is very high in the so called developed world. incest bestiality, gays all evil
Why are some people playing dumb and having short term memory. If you lived and grow up in Lusaka, Sata’s issue would not be current news to your ears to even make an issue now. Just like most zambian men, let those that are clean on the matter come out, condemning Sata, because there have never/will never have a marital affair. In comparisons with kafupi, it was another man’s wife, imagine what the saga has done to Mr Mwanza’s self esteem and ego as a man. It will take him long to recover and trust a woman again. And Davis you should base your condemnation on the African way of life not western. What is wrong with with polygamy? Most of my uncles in the village in luapula are married to more than one wife. Sata is the only ex-Minister everyone talks and saw to have performed.
Beside, Sata’s children are all highly educated than those good for nothing kafupi’s children. I went to a private school in Botswana with Mulenga Sata, the first born. The gentleman has a Master’s now and working for respectable company. Let kafupi tells us the outcome of Hellen and her sisters rooming London since they come here to get a decent education. Yes Sata, could have made mistakes, but managed to control and educate his children. Charity begins at home, how come kafupi failed even to get one of his children to be better at something so that they can articulate issues like Junior patrick mwanawasa. We all know Regina was a stolen property just like his other cases. No amount of justification would make it right, beside the post exposed the affair when kafupi was in power not…
I really don’t understand why Sata’s marital affair has now to turn to criticising the catholic church. The church does not discuss an individuals personal or faith issues with the public. It’s not a political party. I know Mataka wants it to be lowered to the level of insults and politics that he is used to. He is the type who when they insult someone are shocked that the person doesn’t insult back. It’s strange how the Times has made it their preoccupation to attack the Catholic Church. Is it that Mataka is the special branch agent assigned to descredit the catholic church through the Times of Zambia?
The insinuation that because my sister is alleged to have “contracted marriage” or cohabited with Mr. Sata, the Catholic Church condones or even “blesses” it is as speculative in the extreme as it is highly reprehensible. In the Catholic Church, there isn’t one set of laws, rules and regulations for the rich, famous and powerful and another set for the poor and weak non-entities. In the mid 16th Century, King Henry VIII of England wanted a set of rules especially for himself as King with regard to marriage but when the Pope said an emphatic No the king broke away from the Church of Rome to form what is now called the Anglican Church. Dr. Frederick Chiluba doesn’t seem to know or appreciate this historical fact.
Mataka I hope you attanded Archbishop Mpundu’s press conference and stop misleading people. The Bishop clearly stated that when MMD was fighting UNIP in 1991 they praised the catholic church whilst UNIP demonised it. Once they came into power and changed their ways they turned around and started attacking the Catholic church. tomorrow if the people who are elcted become corrupt they will also attack the church.
Wouldnt it be great to have clean leaders? It’s possible.
Ba Mataka, let the decent and morraly upright peolpe talk about infidelity. Some of us know you very well….better shut up before you are exposed!
Africans dont want clean leaders. They want leaders of their own tribe. Those supporting Sata’s immoral ways are mostly Bemba’s. When you attack Sata, you attack their hope of getting a Bemba in to plot1. In any rational country, bearing two illigitimate children outside of marriage is a sign of failure to live by ones own promise to his wife. If he can betray his own wife, what about the 11 million strangers he is promising heaven on earth to?
#40 Bishop Mambo
You are right Africans dont want clean leaders. Very sad, no wonder you cant develop.
It’s a pity Bembas have been associated with Sata. I am Bemba yet I cannot support Sata because I do not think he is presidential material. I fought against the 3rd Term bid by FTJ and Sata so I know how dangerous Sata is. He does not respect the national constitution, just as he does not respect party constitutions – evidence is how he and FTJ changed the MMD constitution to allow for a 3rd Term. I wonder if his party has a constitution. I think that all who want Sata to be president of Zambia have something wrong with them.
HH would make a better president. I am talking about brain power and stability of mind. Sata is a scatter brain, is immoral and vilolent. A Kaponya.
Foolish people all over
I agree with #7, #9, #25, #27, #39 Davies likes screwing women. Infact I have a dossier on him. He should not pretend to be holy. He likes screwing married women. What a shame! No wonder AIDS is here to stay.
Why talk about Sata’s private affairs? Who in the MMD is scandal free when it comes to matters of SEX? Chiluba started flirting with Regina when he was President.! He appointed Regina as MMD Women’s Chaiperson so that she could come to Lusaka for him to enjoy her. Each time Chiluba went out of the country, Regina was always in the entourage and Vera was left at State House or she was in London. The Post Newspapers took photos of Regina shaking hands with Chiluba. Regina was convicted of state property (cash and goods) that Chiluba gave her when he was President. Please leave…
Fellow Bloggers, HEAR HEAR! It seems most on this blog have missed the point! If morals were ever an issue with our politicians, how come Sata (the ‘immoral’ polygamist) and Chiluba (the ‘high priest’ accused of taking away someone’s wife) served together in government for 10 solid years without this ever being an issue? What is my point? Pretty simple: don’t waste your energies fighting over these scums of the earth we call our political leaders. They have shown you what they are made of once again-in the media. They are all just after your taxpayers money whatever the cost.
Zambians stop being gullible please~X(
🙂 I have not been a good Christian, fornicational thoughts I had too. Be blessed and let the ones that are clean comment lol.
Well, it is like the we are also going to open Pandora’ box on Davis Mataka, first, this guy Mataka has never taught his wife how to drive a car the wife goes to work by Mini Buses, this is all because this guy is always picking other small girls and people’s wives in his car. This guy has failed to send his son to school, but spends time in Hotels, Lodges and other nice place. So, Mr Mataka, just keep writing on MMD, do not start this Pandola’s box, will finish you up. So, stay away from this issue, let Sata and Chiluba talk.

Zambians always think they are christian than every other zambian. There is more fire for such hypocrits. I guess most of us even bloggers have shagged out of moral requirements & christian beliefs. But to judge a leader by sex orientation or perpetrated rhetoric lucks wisdom. Bill Clinton is america’s renwon president,he was human. But FTJ & Sata worse. RB has a story too, probably worse. I for one has ****ed & shagged ’em some whores & girls-i regret but i ve learnt one thing-sex drives crazy when u have been hooked on it-there is no stopping. This in iteself does not mean u cant be a leader- a good one. In any case, lets write off all the fornicators FTJ, Sata, (RB also tho another category-am not sure he was legally married to T) & some of us & let HH lead us. simple.
#47 @SICHULA, Well said and put. I for one cannot base my judgement on such things. There is awlays growing up for men though others take a while to like FTJ. Given an opportunity, he may surprise all. Sata has shown some growth, no former wife up to now can point a finger at him. He takes care of all his children regardless of who bore them. Thats being a man. A human being. David in the bible had problem with his dick too, he wired other people’s wives & married ’em. However, he is regarded as the greatest biblical leaders of all time. He took care & provided for his family-all of them including the rebels. Thats human. We are not supernatural, we ve dicks & holes for a purpose but we must grow up from being tammed by ’em dicks&holes. Howbeit, u Mataka shags underage in his…
what a shame for Davies mataka, he should have kept his mouth shut n’ let sleeping dogs lie..shame!
Somebody essentially assist to make severely posts I’d state. That is the first time I frequented your website page and up to now? I surprised with the analysis you made to make this actual publish amazing. Magnificent activity!
