Calls to have Deputy Minister of Health Dr Solomon Musonda arrested have continued gain momentum. The Non Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has challenged Republican President, Rupiah Banda to immediately take action against trigger happy Health Deputy Minister Solomon Musonda for shooting and wounding a Patriotic Front PF cadre in Serenje.
And Home affairs minister, Mkondo Lungu has been urged to consider the shooting incident as a crisis and arrest the Deputy Minister without any hesitation because he is a serious danger to the Zambian society.
NGOCC, Executive Director, Engwase Mwale told that Qfm it was very unfortunate that the Deputy Minister is still enjoying his freedom when MMD government would not have hesitated had the culprit been from the opposition.
Ms. Mwale added that the conduct exhibited by the Deputy Minister against his own people is an indication that the MMD leadership is not committed to eradicating political violence.
She has also cautioned against such kind of intolerance by politicians taking root in the country, which she said might soon become unstoppable.

The Zambian Police Service is STUPID and USELESS to the country. When its MMD at fault, these *****S just sit back and watch. There are young and credible (graduates) commissioners of police who can manage the zambia police service professionally. Why RB has been holding on to Kabonde until just now when he is about to be replaced/sacked/retired makes me wonder what sort of protocols and calibre of security advisors he has.
I think the man needs to be caged and tried in our courts of law.What makes him think he is above the law? “It is unfortunate…” How many times have we heard that phrase. It is unfortunate what happened in Mufumbwe, it is unfortunate what Dr Musonda did… Why not say it as it is: It is CRIMINAL!!! Why do we trivialize crimes by calling them unfortunate occurances?
It appears as if a lot of bloggers today are either annoyed with failure by police to arrest Solomon or they are intoxicated with alcohol since it is weekend. However, there is a very big sign that RB is interfering in the way the police and the court operate in Zambia. The police are not supposed to wait for RB in order to effect an arrest, the first time Solomon reported himself to police about shooting someone at the road block, he was supposed to be arrested. This hesitancy by the police to act is a recipe for disaster and a sign of dictatorship. For Solomon you will not practice as a medical doctor again, this is not a profession for killers. This moment of madness will cost you a lot.

#36 Shi Bwalya, your contribution lacks reasoning and distouched from reality along Great Northern Road. The govt of the day has failed to resurface the tarmac and the potholes are now trenches. Young people along GNR team up and start covering up the potholes and will ask motorist to give them some money for their services and this is a well known factor along Grt nothern road. Surely seeing the area MP was nothing strange to ask him to pay them. If you remember well during the bye election Musonda promised to deal with Gt Northern Road as there were alot of accidents happening. Reminding him or asking him to pay them was the way for keeping the road safe. if he wished not to do so., he would have used his diplomacy to deal with them. Shooting this young man was dispeakable.

Musonda did not go looking for an innocent person to shoot. He responded to a situation created by the victim. He may have used excessive force – that is a different situation. There seem to be adequate mitigating circumstances here. A culture of lawlessness championed by the opposition seems to be developing in Zambia where overzealous party cadres think that Mufumbwe is a standard. This is dangerous.
#41, Naimwe ba Adviser, its common here in Zambia to be stopped by youths when you a driving in these bad roads and being asked to pay them something. The current Govt is dead, so villagers fill the pot hole with soil and expect to get the pay from motorist. and its up to you give them Ka 500 or 1 pin or tell them next time. the actual thing is, the boy who was short might no be even be the PF Cadre, but some one trying to make a living. As Sata, said no damage was done to his car, meaning the youths where not violent.
Musonda is stupid and big headed. Power has gotten to is head or is it balls that now he thinks he has aright to take away a persons life. This man should be caged. As a Medical Doctor, he is supposed to save life and not to take away life. Medical council should also come in and deal with this thug. #42 Hangandu, Very good mature response to my earlier post. I hope that that is the real situation that occurred at the point in time. I still have problems accepting that Dr. Musonda would just pull a gun and shoot at innocent Zambians indiscriminately. Those “unhired” boys mending potholes do not harass you (my experience). They operate at your mercy. In this case I hear that the Minister was blocked because apparently “there is nothing he has done and therefore should not be using that road”. The actual situation on the ground, we do not know yet. You and me can only guess.
In Zed, if yu do not have have money then you go to jail and serve the Govt, but pipo with money they tend to momentize the whole Country! Jails are for poor pipo as per observation. Criminals are lsft free because they can pay for their offences, therefore vote wisely this 2011, there we go!
