Kafulafuta Member of Parliament George Mpombo

The Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) says it will get rid of former of former Finance and National Planning minister Ng’andu Magande and his former defence counterpart George Mpombo before it holds its national convention.

MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga said Mr Magande and Mr Mpombo will be gotten rid of from the party before the national convention is held.

He said the party is working on expelling the two Members of Parliament before the convention takes place.

Asked as to whether this is a gimmick to block the two parliamentarians from challenging for the MMD presidency, Mr. Mabenga said the duo do not qualify to contest for any position in the party because they have violated so many party regulations.

He added that Mr Magande and Mr Mpombo have no place in the ruling party following their attacks on President Rupiah Banda and the MMD national leadership.

Mr Mabenga noted that the ruling party requires six to seven billion kwacha to hold its national convention successfully.

Mr Mabenga, however, failed to disclose how much the party has raisd so far.

  1. Signs of strong divisions in Mwadya Mweka Daddy (MMD) party. But i urge Magande and Mpompo 2 forget this use.less party which is only remaining with few months before expiring & jump over to the mighty PF/UPND. Why stick to a dead party?

  2. Magande and Mpombo dom’t loose heart what ever is happening to you will surely come pass. But let me remind the two of you now that you need God now than ever before.Cry out to him and he will listen God is watching over you, the society is aswel seeng what is happening but you must just remember that you are not alone in this.

  3. I concur with u my fellow bloggers. Truly, Magande and Mpombo are a threat to Rupiah and his cronies hence, the reason they want to get rid of them. One would wonder where the democracy being preached about in the MMD is. The two guys have been absolutely victimised since they announced their candidancy and honestly speaking Rupiah and his cronies are uncomfortable with their presence in the MMD. Whom can Mabenga cheat to say they violated so many party regulations apart from the dictatorship that in emerging in the MMD ? Zambians are not blind people who cannot see what is on the ground. We have our own conclusion to make in this scenario because we are mature enough to analyse things. Rupiah and William Banda are not different at all because they share the same brutal endeavors.

  4. You should be urging them to put up an injuction, they are dead meat POLOtically and they know it. Even if they joined the PACT, they will never contest for any position as the PF/UPND do not hold any conventions. MMDs ‘stage managed’ convention is a step towards democracy than no convention at all as practiced by the dictatorial parties in the pact.

  5. The MMD should expel the two now and not wait for parley to be dissolved. Obviously the MMD is scared about the results of the by-elections that would/will follow hence it would be safe to expel the duo in June/July next year. That would leave Magande and Mpombo in serious political limbo. Otherwise they mist decide their political direction now by joining the Pact parties.

  6. The also targeted Maureen Mwanawasa for “using” as they percieved Lameck Chibombamilimo and Levy’s dead body to campaign for Maureen. Aslo Sylvia Masebo was targetted. But Maureen has kept a low profile (got smarter than them) hence they have removed her from the list. MMD do not want any threat to RB’s hold on to power within MMD. Wait when he loses, they will all blame him.

  7. I know Mpombo has gone heyond the boundary of party politics. They waited for him to falter then pounce. he did faulter by issuing a cheque on his account that had no money – a criminal case – But for Magande, it’s pure jelousy. They wanted to link him to Zambian Airways they have failed just like on all other issues. They should accomodate him. Now Mabenga was busy saying Magande did NOT win in Chilanga but the MMD prevailed on the his election Petition from UPND & PF. So MMD rigged Chilanga. Why did they deny it then that Time? Mabenga should be taken to court for admitting rigging, he needs to give the evidence.

  8. On “MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga said Mr Magande and Mr Mpombo will be gotten rid of from the party before the national convention is held… the party is working on expelling the two Members of Parliament before the convention takes place,” it is sad that MMD under the acting-presidency of Mr Zambian President RB Banda is now un-Democratic — just like the MMD under presidency of Mr FTJ Chiluba and national secretary mis-leadership of Mr PF/Sata MC was. Interesting enough MMD and PF are both un-democratic although MMD is better than PF sinceit atleast holds doctored-conventions to feign electing its officers.

I urge Hon MPs Magande and Mpombo not to seek court injunctions to restrict MMD from expelling them so they can re-jion UPND and contest on its ticket.

    Matt…

  9. I view of my above posting, Im asking the UPND president HH to immediately call a UPND NMC meeting that must look at inviting all those who left the UPND before and after late UPND leader died in 2006 so that they can combine forces with the current UPND ranks to make sure the UPND forms GRZ in 2011 with or without PF of the PF-UPND PACT.

I am also requesting that the UPND NMC looks at letting the UPND Youth leadership of Joe Kalusa to stage campaign rallies where they must urge both old and young, especially youthful, Zambians to register as voters so that the young voters can concentrate on convincing all voters and then voting for HH as President of Zambia in next year’s tripartite elections.

We’ve about 2 weeks to go before voter registration ends and actions is needed.

  10. Shame on you Mabenga, RB and your crones. Expelling Mpompo and Mangande is not going to win you election in fact you are going to see a lot of defections or MPs standing as Independentsand that will weaken the MMD. Hence RBs ambitions will be gone for ever as this is not UNIP. Remember what happened to Chilubas third term issue you will see mmd breakaway and mmd will not recover to win 2011. So MMD think before you act foolishly. RB attacking the donors is not going to help you either as you do not abuse the hand that feeds you.

  11. this is total rubbish..you mmd chpas are getting drunk and useless..losing ur minds ..u r totally wornout ..

  12. #,THE CONVENTION MONEY IS ALWAYS AND AS LONG AS MMD REMAINS IN POWER, WILL BE STOLLEN FROM TAX PAYERS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE OPPOSITION PARTIES TO HOLD CONVENTIONS BECAUSE OF LIMITED SOURCES OF FUNDING. THIS SHORTAGE OF FUNDS HAVE BEEN WORSENED BY TOO MANY BY ELECTIONS WHICH HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IT IS EASY FOR MMD BCOS THEY USE PUBLIC MONEY.

  13. OVER 23 Pentecostal churches in Lusaka have declared their support for Government because of its sound developmental programmes.
And the Bishops Council of Zambia has urged Zambians to reject politicians who have a tendency of using foul language in next year’s general elections.
The churches made their declaration in support for government when they invited the Lusaka province MMD executive committee (PEC) to a meeting in Mandevu constituency last week.
Among the churches that made the declaration at the meeting held in Chazanga< township in Lusaka were Central Africa Spirit, Christ Holy Ministries, Marimba Church, Christ Vision Impact, Faith Apostolic, New Life Baptist, Mother Eagle Ministries, Redeemed Methodist, United Pentecost, Union Baptists.
    The usual suspects!

  14. Do they still exist, I mean magande and mpombo? Haven’t heard from them for two weeks now.
And whenever they have spoken it is to criticise their own party or insult its leadership, and for matter using the PF’s vuvuzela, of all media one can think of! If they have their senses and intelligence about them, those two spoilers would form their own party and pursue their agendas in a more politically sensible manner than what they are doing now. Between them they command probably less than 0.005% support, and wasting everybody’s time, EXPEL THEM NOW!

  15. 2 more seats coming to the mighty PF/UPND Pact, this is after the Mpulungu parliamentally seat. We’re definately getting MUCH STRONGER by the day, or I forgot there is also Katuba with Jonas Shakafuswa that belows to the Opposition, or how about Gabriel Namulambe’s seat!!! We’re matching on and much stronger than before, just feel the heat before been engulfed.

  16. #17, such rhetoric used to work in the 1990’s not in 2010. It will not work. The goodness is each Individual person only has one vote, not more. You think the pastors in that meeting will coerce people in the Churches to vote to Humpty Dumpty, NO WAY. Zambian are better enlightened than that, you better talk about something sensible and not this piece of crap.

  17. It is common knowledge that if you belong to an organisation, club, association or indeed a political party it means that you subscribe to its ideals and aspirations and or Constitution. In the case of Magande and Mpombo it does appear that they do not suscribe to the ideals of the club they belong to. The honourable would would have been for them to either resign or join another party that best represents their interest. In some democracies they would not even have waited to be expelled they would have simply resigned on their own. It gives the impression that theyknow something about the organisation they want to stick too despite having fallen out of favour, is it a case of sour grape?COPE memebers in RSA differed in the manner in which Thabo Mbeki was removed they quit ANC formed COPE.

  18. Magande and Mpombo being factors in power politics of a national party as MMD? If they are struggling to mashall votes at a constituency level, how can they be an issue at national political level? Let them go challenge Sata or Ichilema in the pact considering that they are members of UPND where they betrayed Mazoka unceremoniously at the 11th hour for jobs in MMD. Institutional politics as that of MMD cannot thrive with indiscipline but strict adherence to collective institutional values. If you don’t believe in the party, democracy has you open doors try next door. MMD has more credible and savvy realpolitik icons like late General Christon, Tembo, Miyandas-Samuel and General, Chitalu Sampa, then Nawakwi, Major Celestino Chibamba, Kavindele and such. They were kicked out yet MMD…

  19. MMD can never be destroyed or dispositioned by strait-jackets of mischievousness in whatever their errands come in individually or otherwise. Instead, in the absence of tolerance they could destroy themselves to the finish line. History is clouded with precedences. The tolerance ratio of MMD may be taken for granted but not its spirit to stay resilient and ward-off discombobulated losers.

  20. What are these maggots still doing in the mighty party, mabenga should you even announce to the public?if you dont have the guts to do so ask and we will assist you.infact magande is tonga let him go back to upnd and maybe he can win one seat in southern province because chilanga this time wont go go for him

  21. Mabenge is being economical with the truth by stating that the MMD will get rid of Mpombo. What`s obtaining on the ground spells doom for the MMD if a bye election was called in Kafulafuta. These bye elections the MMD has been losing is a reflection of the general mood in the country. The OP have been privately confessing that the trend and mood amongst the electorate has shifted in the oppositions favour. The MMD for example paid 90% of taxi drivers in Ndola K200,000.00 each plus full tank fuel on the day prior to the Chifubu bye election so as to match Sata`s draw power.Despite all such wastage RB and Frank Ngambi couldn`t even fill up the Chifubu playing field were they held their final rally. What`s obtaining on the ground here in Zambia is worse than what`s reported in the media.

  22. MMD and all those old pensioners should be expelled from leadership! They are not able to progress any development and hence they all need to be exterminated for the future of our country!! Magande and Mpombo are victims of these ruthless power hungry MMD people! Please all Zambian people, vote these people out!!

  23. At times I laugh when bloggers cheat themselves about the popularity of Mpombo and Magande. These two joined MMD from UPND and hell knows which party they will be joining. They seem to be saying they are the most democratic and everybody else is a despot. Its high time the two resigned on moral grounds. You can’t fool people that you are part of them when your actions speak otherwise. The whole thing has to do with LPMs succession and the two sorry handled it badly.

  24. Thats when Rupiah Banda will lose the support he had in the south. Southern province and central are connected in so many ways, hence Rupiah is likely to loose ground in these areas. Shame on you Rupiah and your minions, you have beaten our inocent Magande in funerals. Democracy is all about accepting other people’s views. We need to get rid of these old people who are still thinking backwards in UNIP days.

  25. #Tumbwe, you are still talking in Rupiah’s GRZ, I wonder how you are going to perish in Sata’s regime God forbid. Sata is the worste dictator the devil has ever known.

  26. #22 you seem not to understand what you are talking about. What Mpombo and Magande did was to state the ideals, aspirations and/or constitution on which the MMD was founded, that is to hold the Convention as stipulated. Its these other buffoons who want to do away with the convention. You should proof-read your postings before you paste nosense on this blog.

  27. #22 only you seems to understand mpombo says or what he stands for. To the majority what he says is as clear as muddy water, even the opposition don’t understand him. Maybe he should avoid bombastic language, or if he can afford it, maybe employ you to be his interpreter and vuvuzela. Certainly the Post have not made any clearer.

  28. @Mukabe, if you saw my comment under my post “the usual suspects” should tell you that I’m laughing at these “Chazanga” pastors. It would have made a bit more sense if the pastors were from Northmead or Emmasdale.

  29. On “… as to whether this is a gimmick to block the two parliamentarians from challenging for the MMD presidency, Mr. Mabenga said the duo do not qualify to contest for any position in the party because they have violated so many party regulations… Mr Magande and Mr Mpombo have no place in the ruling party following their attacks on President Rupiah Banda and the MMD national leadership” this is very shameful from the MMD National Chairman Mr Michael Mabenga and I advise both Hon MPs Magande and Mpombo never to resign from MMD but wait for MMD to expel them both.

They must make sure that MMD doesnt gain a campaign message of Magande and/or Mpombo have cost GRZ a lot of money for development by recklessly resigning from our party to force by-election(s).

    Be blest all…

  30. What do you do if the threat to your pot of honey is imminent? You make sure that the honey eating beasts are gotten rid off. This behaviour being exhibited by corrupt and thief mabenga is just another way of licking deep in the a/rse of rb and cohorts. Whatever whatever whatever!!

  31. This mabenga was not even present when the Real MMD was being formed, actually I should say MMD has disintegrated because the original members who stood for democrary are not in the party, its just filled with opportunist and thieves who have no love for the citizens of our beautiful country.

  32. What do you expect from a BOOTLIKER.BOOTLIKERS normally die liking the dust and that is whta mabenga will become at the end of the day\:d/

  33. Ba chimbwi no plan, go ahead and those two constituencies will be handed over to PF on a nice nice silver plate if not a gold one.
