Dario Bonetti is under-fire after Zambia’s humiliating defeat against Kuwait on Friday in an international friendly in
Zambia were crushed 4-0 by Kuwait leading some to question Bonetti’s commitment to the job after only joining up with the team in Cairo from his Italian base just 48 hours before the game.
The defeat was Bonetti’s third in nine games in charge since taking up the post in July.
Bonetti has a record of four wins, three defeats and two draws with Zambia.
Former Faz committee member Henshel Chitembeya said Bonetti should have been involved with the build-up in Lusaka.
“The coach has to be involved in the preparations right from the beginning because friendly games should be give the same seriousness they deserve as a competitive international game,” Chitembeya said.
And ZAVOSFA president Peter Makembo said the result was unacceptable and that Bonetti should quit.
“Bonetti should resign on moral grounds because we cannot qualify to the Africa cup with results like losing to Kuwait,” Makembo said.
Zambia went down to Kuwait with four first half goals from the latter who remained unbeaten in two successive meetings.
Kuwait also beat Zambia in their first meeting in 1997 in another friendly that the gulf nation won 2-1 in Kuwait City.
What value is football anyway to me? It is wasting alot of resources by promoting football in Zambia at the expense of other potential games in the country. It is no longer interesting at all.Who recruited Bonetti? State House through their corrupt deals.Our own coaches would have performed far better than this muzungu. That was humiliating to say the list. My boyfriend’s friend is a soccer coach from England and he just won a NCAA national soccer tournament. I think he can do way better than Bonnetti and his chola boys. Like Chimbeya said, the coach has to be involved in the preparations process right from the beginning and not just meeting the team at competition events. Remember, this is not the first time he has done that and I believe that Zambia deserves better.

If it was in Angola where there are serious administrators, Bonnet couldnt have even com back from Cairo. But mu zambia, with our uneducated administrators, he will continue being a darling until when zambia fails to qualify to nations cup. And Mr Makembo how do u expect a foreighner, whose primary interest is huge amounts of money he is geting, to resign on ‘moral’ grounds? Zambia is just a useless team stop blaming Bonnetti. Zambia and England are two teams I have written off for the sake of keeping my blood pressure low and happiness. Zambians are like the english everytime we lose blame the coach and act as if our players are not at fault. Theres one common denominator among all the coaches who are being fired and thats the damn players, we need to get rid of the ciurrent national team and replace them with younger better players

Bola ya zed has got some serious cleaning to be done. Administration, talent tapping, sponsorship etc and what is needed most is to shy away with GRZ support. I only here of top political figures in Europe talking about soccer only when they own the team eg.
