PF’s apparent popularity in Western Province

Share

File: PF cadres raise the red cards

The Patriotic Front (PF) is reported to be ferrying cadres from the Copperbelt and Lusaka to Western Province ahead of this Saturday’s Kuomboka traditional ceremony to create an impression that the opposition party has made inroads in the area.A source from within the PF central committee told the Times in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Sata and the party’s national chairperson Inonge Wina wanted to show at all costs that the PF was popular in Western Province when in fact not.The source said Ms Wina was behind the ploy to show that the MMD was losing ground in the province.“Ms Wina has been camping in Mongu for the past one week trying to convince people that they should ditch the MMD and support the PF.

“But because of the resistance from the people, she has now opted to ferry our members from the Copperbelt and Lusaka.“The idea is to position people during the Kuomboka who will be flashing PF symbols against the guest of honor and send an impression that the party is strong in the province,” the source said.

According to the source, Ms Wina had been in Mongu for the past one week with a reporter from a daily tabloid who had been writing stories against the MMD Government and President Rupiah Banda. The PF, through its propaganda publication, was desperately trying to incite the people of Western Province using the events in the province on January 14 this year over the Barotseland Agreement. The source said Mr Sata and Ms Wina had been insisting that cadres should be ferried from the Copperbelt and Lusaka despite opposition from other party members.Mr Sata is also said to have told a meeting for senior party officials that PF members in public transport business should volunteer their buses for the operation.

But MMD Western Province chairperson, Simasiku Namakando said no amount of propaganda or tactics would sway the people of the province to support Mr Sata because they know that the opposition leader hates the people from the area.He said yesterday that Western Province remained a stronghold for the MMD because of the various development projects that the Government was undertaking in the area.

“The MMD is very popular here in Western Province. The insinuations that PF is making inroads are misplaced because the PF is non-existent here. No Westerner in their right frame of mind can support Mr Sata.“Memories of the people here are still very fresh, we still remember how Mr Sata told the people of Malole in Northern Province that they should not vote for the late Emmanuel Kasonde because he was selling the Bembas to the Lozis just because the National Party was then led by a Westerner,” Mr Namakando said.Mr Namakando said the people of the province were also aware of how the PF members of Parliament opposed the allocation of resources for the construction of the Mongu-Kalobo Road. When contacted for comment, Mr Sata cut the call immediately after the reporter introduced the subject to him.

  1. ifi fyabupuba, even commenting is a waste of time. RB and MMD goons are the ones that ferry cadres wherever they go. when RB had a rally in Livingstone, four mazhandu buses ferried cadres from Lsk. so what are they saying now? MMD has leaks, now they want to lie about informants from PF, mwanya, this time kuya bebele

  2. Mr. Sata stop fooling us. You called the pipo of Western Province LIKUBA – Stupid. Mr. Sata You caused the only DR. at Mwandi Mision Hospital in Sesheke to go back to the US because that DR. refused to attend your meeting when you came visiing since the Dr. was in theatre. Mr. Sata, only those born yestaday who were not there when you were NO 3 in govt can vote for U.

  3. “When contacted for comment, Mr Sata cut the call immediately after the reporter introduced the subject to him. ”
    Guilty as usual!

  4. Imwe please times of Zambia give some normal news. What is wrong with you? Can people surely go in large numbers to show popularity. That is not true. Howmuch are those people paid per day and how many are they going to ferry to have a good number. This news is false.

  5. Ba LT, Can times of zambia show us the buses that are ferrying the supporters so that we can confirm there story? To take people from CB one needs to pass through lusaka unless you what to experience the nightmare of the old mumbwe road at landless corner.

  6. imwe bantu why is the times wasting their ink on something whose writing is on the wall. i live in western and mongu in particular MMD is finished here and whether people are ferried to western or not PF is very popular here. the MMD has already done the campaiging for PF. Bo Namakando has to toe the party line i mean how would ity sound if he said MMD is finished in western? they would label him all sorts of names. Mr. namakando knows in his hearts of hearts that his so called party is finished. Their days are numbered in western. I mean they have hugged and dined with looters, shot at and killed innocent lives what more can we say. people are lining to register as voters like no man’s business. DONCHI KUBEBA

    • ine wine my brother, you are sport on, Im in mongu right now and the people here are in Support of PF, and the so called MMD support here is non existent. the people here are not foolish to forget so soon the cruelity that the people of western province have been subjected to by RB and the MMD GOvernment. People here were short dead by the Police for wanting to express their views over the barotse agreenment and you hear the likes of Geoge Kunda praising the Police for shooting innocent people of western province, how then can we support the MMD? there is no development here, we are short at when we complain by the police, let this monstrous government go please

  7. “The insinuations that PF is making inroads are misplaced because the PF is non-existent here. 8. SATA/PF/POST. When it is any propaganda against any other leader or party but favouring or image building SATA/PF it is NEWS.But when it is real news in favour of any other leader or party  it is not news as long as it says the truth about sata/pf. CLEAR SHOW OF INCONSISTENCE BY SATA/PF and supporters,A CRITICAL INGREDIENT IN SATA/PF MANIFESTO.

  9. That will really be change. Lozis supporting Sata. I doubt if there is a propaganda that can make Sata who only thinks in terms of Bemba to be popular in the west. Much as the MMD has been somewhat damaged, i do not think Sata/PF can ever be an alternative to Lozis. Afterall he wants to derecognise the Litunga. What is this depseration i saw yesterday of showing nude pictures of an old Lozi man?

  10. I feel sorry for all of you desputing Pf’s popularity in the great western province.
Just wait and see who will have the last laugh.

  11. THE FACT IS THERE IS POWERFUL PF PRESENCE IN WESTERN PROVINCE NOW TO AVOID EMBARRASMENT THEY WANT TO ATTRIBUTE THIS TO PF FERRING PEOPLE. PF HAS BECOME STRONG IN WESTERN YOU LIKE IT OR NOT………….CHANGE IS COMING TO ZAMBIA THRU THE PF……A NORMAL HUMAN BEING CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC IN FERRYING PIPO….BA MMD U AR CONFUSED.

  12. A government that maim and kill innocent people is not worth supporting.Unless the Lozis are telling us that they can be killed and kicked, continue being quiet.Knowing the Lozis, they will give a vote to Movement of Mad Dogs even if they have been abused. This how docile the Lozis are.Anyone can do anything bad to them and continue getting support. It is high time the Lozis changed and teach a lesson to people who have brought mayhem in their province. What benifit are you going to get by supporting MMD.They have shown you that you are not Zambians by killing you senselessly. It will be folly of the waste kind for Lozis to perpetually support MMD even when they are not liked.Kick them(MMD) out for killing your people. It is like someone rapes your wife and you continue supporting that person.

  13. #12 CHITUMBUWA – I get your point and support it that the MMD MUST GO and the Lozis have a role to play in kicking out the MMD. HOWEVER, your campaign language is inherently faulty and does not help our strategy. We EVERY PROVINCE to play its role and not just Western Province. Your over emphasis on the Lozis addresses them as if the kicking out of MMD wholly depends on the Lozis, as if all the other provinces have already decided to kick out MMD – which is not true. What you are starting is not helping the Lozis either, because after MMD wins you will come back to them and say you Lozis didn’t vote enough against MMD. We don’t want that kind of language in this campaign and that is why we can lose because we risk alienating people who support us. Let us use reasonable language!!!!!

  14. Can the BAROTSE CRACK SQUAD (BULLS) get organized and BRUSH the MMD Minions..Time is up !!!!! . George Kunda kindly stay away from this year Kuomboka , otherwise you just risking your life.

  15. #4 it is not the Kuomboka that will show who is more popular than the other parties. it is the elections. get a life….

  16. Times of Zambia is a copy cat. They are using the tactics of The Post. The only diffrence is that Times of Zambia reporters are just making it up whereas The Post has facts. Shame on you guys!

    • wat makes pipo sure tht Times dont hav facts while Post hav? Times of Zambia=The Post=Kachepa360=Chanda Chimba III. All of them busy quoting imaginary “reliable source”.The only difference is that they are saving different interests and you choose to follow which one is propagating your interests on a given story.

  17. This story sounds like one from the MMD media of which LT is now officially a part. LT, please disclose your source; how can an seemingly independent media refer to a reporter with the PF lady as ‘The PF, through its propaganda publication…’ why have you never called ZNBC, Daily Mail or Times of Zambia along the same lines? In my opinion, you are either closet MMD or actually sponsored by MMD.

  18. Bo Ma Inonge abakaeza buchwala kiwena mwanana balikutamulilo…………….eya ya mama eyaya eyaya balikutamulilo. mwalanjo kilitapi mwalanjo kilitapi. aliyeni luyobina siyomboka. just approaching Kaoma TBZ. going to have a blast while minions on this blog disect each other. by the way congrats to Mpombo for being arraested.

  19. SATA HE IS BUSY TAKING BEMBAS TO MY PRONINCE THINKNG THAT THAY CN CHEAT ON US.WE KNO SATA AND INONGE MORE THAN THEY MAY THINK BUT THE ANSWER IS NOT PF/MMD PLIZ BUT UPND IS OK FO THIS WE WESTERNERS WE SAY VIVA ONLY TO HH ANE UPND.

  20. MMD is enjoying sleepless night and no matter how much you demonise SATA and PF you will not achieve anything because people want change.MMD’s desperation has reached alarming levels. why did you kill and shoot lozis? You now need them and unless they are fools, they will not vote for their killers.
VOTE MICHAEL SATA AND MWAMUKOLO COME 2011.

  21. Its true MMD has lost ground ,however, its not true that PF can win WP.Pf will never have a single MP IN WP not even a councillor.Lets wait after elctions and prove me wrong.VIVA HH VIVA UPND.Malozi musabe ngongola ye bizwa satani.

  22. This is fake news. Facts are facts. These things are very stubborn things. It is actually very true that PF is becoming popular in western province. Western province can kick MMD out of power. They dont like Sata, but they will support him just to get MMD out.

  23. Times of Zambia is surely disgraced over there desperation to counter The Post stories. Anyone, who follows Zambian current affairs can recall that a day or two ago The Post wrote a story that RB is not attending the Kuomboka ceremony due to animosity by my peole in western province. To counter this story, Times of Zambia have fabricated one of their own, above.
This is callous and pure cowardly! Why can’t the Times of Zambia find some originality in their reporting? Have all the journalists at Times of Zambia, Daily mail of Zambia and ZNBC had a transorbital lobotomy performed by Rbish and the quacks at the Movement for Mad Dogs? Stop poorly counteracting The post and write original stuff, you are becoming irrelevant! Kuomboka is our traditional ceremony, stop politicising it!

  24. Charlie 2//
You are correct my dear. I do not believe any adult who was in Mwandi in the 90s can vote for the PF leader. Maybe he has changed, but the PF leader is no joke a strong anti Lozi. Barotseland should never make that mistake to trust and vote bo Michael as a redeemer, not at all. Bo Imbwae is misleading people too. Mr.Imbwae could be broke, but this should not make him sacrifice Barotseland and its people. The Barotseland Agreement is beyond party politics and no one should use it for campaigns and cheating citizens like Mr.Imbwae and his PF friends are doing.

  25. These monkeys will fight it out with their enemies instead of celebrating that primitive ceremony. Get ready for a blood bath. Should I send in some special forces?

  26. If bo Mr.Michael can honour the Agreement; why didn’t he support it all along given the positions of influence he held? What good does he see in Lozis today when he is part to the systems that worked to destroy Barotseland and make global shame of Lozis? Better leave Barotseland alone than continue fooling innocent citizens.

  27. We who are in the uk donnot see what you people in Zambia see ,we only see Zambia as one country not the way you do, dont you learn how sakozi is sending planes to remove Kadaffi in Libya

  28. #15, how can you campaign by insulting your audience? you are doing exactly what Sata did in 2008,he told easterners to vote for him or f*&ck off. They decided to f*&ck off because of his language.

  29. CONMAN KALU 27//
I agree with you to some extent but let the bastards take their monkey predator snake out of Barotseland just as 31 Gossip Monger has put it.

  30. small little boys are so deperate….who can believe this suless lies …only a foool can. MMD is under presure sure.

  31. You can basically calculate how many will respond to these stories.verdict :PF Supporters will try by all means to discredit the MMD Sympathizers and Visa versa.
    Isn’t Democracy fun!
ONLY THOSE THAT WILL VOTE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE..UNFORTUNATELY MOST BLOGGER’S COMMENTING HERE WILL NOT!

  32. Wasnt it yesterday when LT, or was it the Post that carried a story where a Catholic Priest was claiming that RB, Kunda are not welcome in W.P, those guys are the ones in daily contact with the pipo on the ground, not a PF NEC moll!

  33. MMD IS IN DENIAL…….FACTS ARE FACTS……..THE MMD SHOULD FORGET ABOUT WESTERN PROVINCE, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT………WESTERNERS TEFIPUBA IFYAKU VOTELA THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAVE MURDERED THEIR RELATIVES AND OTHERS HAVE HAD THEIR LEGS AMPUTATED……….MWALOBA ILYA UUMA……SOON PF IS ENTERING N/WESTERN, SOUTHERN AND EASTERN……GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF, GO GO PF………MMD HAMBAA LALA…..BABA PITANI KUMUDZI……..KWASILA, CHAPWA, FINITO, THE END…………….

  34. My own mother is Lozi, to be honest Lozis voting for Sata, it will never happen. PF is on a mission here to give an impression to zambians that UPND is dead, and the only available choices are MMD and PF, therefore those who hate MMD should automatically choose PF. They want at all cost to take advantage of the January 14 confusion in western province to take advantage of people, but have found resistance. Lozis would rather vote for a chicken than Sata because they are very much aware of these tactics. Lozis and Tongas are so conservatives who cannot be bought by cheap politicking from desperate people like Sata, they reason before voting for someone. They have seen how Southern has developed despite being in the opposition, and this time around they cannot be cheated anymore.

  35. Only time will tell, under normal circumstances Lozis will not vote for PF, now we are dealing with lozis who have been abused, butchered, tortured and tormented by Nyamasoya. We are dealing with very annoyed people and I know how annoyed people behave!

  36. Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata Thursday failed to climb the stairs of Lotti House where he was scheduled to feature on 5fm Radio.
Sata who went to the building discovered that the elevators were down and the only alternative was to climb the stairs to the ninth floor where the radio station is located.
Sata, who was born in 1937 attempted to go as far as the third floor before going back saying he could not. He told the radio station management and his escort team that he  has a medical history that does not allow him to undertake such strenuous activities.
The radio station was forced to cancel the programme despite the heavy advertisement that preceded it.

  37. to be honest I don’t like Sata and I know for sure that he can never make a good leader. However as things stand Sata is likely to get enough votes from Western Province to enable him offset the 35,000 votes he went down with in the 2008 elections. Fortunately for Zambia these votes won’t be enough to offset the PF fallout in Luapula where the majority of the people there are saying they have been taken for granted by the Bembas for too long. This will be Sata’s biggest undoing. This issue tribal maginalisation coupled with the unfair way in which the PF rebel MPs were treated will ensure Sata is handed the biggest defeat yet in Luapula. Worse still even other areas in Northern Province which are populated by non-Bembas have vowed not to vote for Sata for the same reasons as Luapula…
