Kenyan High Commissioner to Zambia Kipiego Cheluget has categorically refuted media reports suggesting that fugitive Henry Banda, son of former Republican President Rupiah Banda is being harboured at the State House in Nairobi.
Mr. Cheluget has since demanded for an apology from the Post Newspapers for publishing the story in question.
He said the claims are false and unfounded adding that such continued speculations may unnecessarily be injurious to the good relations between Zambia and Kenya.
He says claiming that the Kenyan first family is harboring Henry, is belittling the dignity of President Mwai Kibaki.
Mr. Cheluget said that Henry Banda used passports number ZP005673, ZP005193 and ZP005131 when he previously visited Kenya.
Mr. Cheluget has however indicated that the Kenyan government has checked the records at entry points and has ascertained that Henry left that country on November 23rd 2011 via Jomo Kenyatta international Airport and has since not returned.
Mr. Cheluget has therefore stressed that the relevant Kenyan government security machinery have been mobilized to have Henry arrested whenever and wherever he is spotted in Kenya.
The Kenyan High Commissioner has further urged the media to verify information gathered before publishing it stating that such wild claims are detrimental to the co-existence of the two countries.

How do you get from the issue of the Post apologising to comparing menilitary strength between Kenya and Zambia? The Post is a private Zambian entity does not reflect the position of the Zambian government or people in general. Maybe if the statement had come from Times of Zambia Daily mail then you could have a point of some sorts.
#5 and 8 why are you pretending that you only have one passport? It was not too long ago all zambians were forced to get new passports.so basically unless your old passport expired most zambians have at least 2 passports.the ‘old’ one is still valid for travel.

I think Sata made a mistake to have picked on Chellah as his press aid/spokesperson, that job needs a mature man who knows diplomacy not just the private media. Mwanawasa has John Musukuma, and every information coming from statehouse was of substance not what we hear nowadays. Chellah should learn diplomacy and not post newspaper manners of loudspeaking on things which do not carry water. There is too much rumour mongering at statehouse now than before, and I can confirm that Dickson Jere at least had learnt diplomacy and was a good advisor to Banda.

The High Commissioner did not give a time period when Henry entered the country with the different passports. I have been to Kenya twice, and used a different passport each time – because they had me change it – because the new one had more security features. Should I be arrested too?
