Social Cash Transfer (SCT) beneficiaries in Kalulushi District on the Copperbelt Province have commended the government for creating designated locked community boxes for handling grievances regarding the programme, including issues with beneficiary selection or payment delays.
And Kalulushi Assistant Social Welfare Coordinator, Audrey Mwanza, has appealed to the beneficiaries to effectively use the boxes for enhanced and effective service delivery.
Ms Mwanza noted that the community drop-boxes serve as a core component of the Social Cash Transfer’s grievance mechanism.
She said there is a need for the beneficiaries to actively use the boxes because they are a critical tool for accountability and transparency in the distribution of SCT.
Ms Mwanza highlighted that the government decided to introduce the boxes to ensure that issues raised by vulnerable households can reach the local district social welfare offices safely and promptly for effective redress.
“This system is to help those that are grieved, they can simply get to their Community Welfare Assistant Communities (CWACs) focal point person in their area, get a form and log in a complaint, hence the sensitization,” Ms Mwanza said.
Kalulushi District has 9, 079 beneficiaries on the Social Cash Transfer programme.
