Foundation for Democratic Process-FODEP has appealed to Registrar of Societies Clement Andeleki to forgive the MMD for not remitting annual returns over the years.
FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says calling for over fifty by-elections will gobble billions of Kwacha which can be channeled to needy areas.
Mr. Chipenzi says Mr. Andeleki must find an amicable way of helping to resolve the matter with the MMD leadership.
He told ZNBC News that calling for over fifty by-elections will not be any different from holding a general election.
And the Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes-Saccord has described the de-registration of the MMD as unfortunate.
Saccord Information Officer Obby Chibuluma has called on Mr. Andeleki to find a way of sitting down the MMD leadership over the accrued returns.
Meanwhile, the opposition UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema says his party is up to date with returns to the Registrar of Societies.
Mr. Hichilema however stressed that it will be costly for the country to hold over fifty parliamentary by-elections.
